I kept incendiary crossbow from the investigation mission and stuffed him a lot of bolts. Goes down very easy this way especially if he let his machinegun overheat and stall. Lesson learned: do not install cheap chinese weapons.
Gotta admit I don't remember Barrett theme at all. Because his fight was either very loud from his machine gun barrages and taunting. Or very short, 4 packs of satchel charges on him and detonate - done.
Barret's OST is my Top favorite Boss Fight Themes in my Collections of Video Games. It's keeping me Tense all the times and not only that, I also Enjoy the Boss fight as well.
Nathan Gatten The Boss Battles were really good Battles. People nitpick, I think, because they didn't want to do them. They wanted to stealth their way through the game and were probably doing so, then they're faced with these near enough straight up fights with the Bosses.People are assholes though. Largely incapable of objectivity and making accurate decisions. So many times, I'll play a game and think it's awesome and, be under the impression that I'll know someone else will like it too - but then they don't and they can't explain why. The reason, I believe... Is that people are inconsistent in their beliefs and preferences. They don't consider the facts and decide from there - they simply, for the most part, consider their feelings - highly subjective feelings, not rooted in fact. So, yeah... I thought they were great Boss Battles, but at the end of the day "Haters' gon' hate".
It's partially because the devs said that its possible to go through the game without killing anyone. This is a bit of a lie, but then again the game itself already subverts the whole "No kill run" mentality (like when you choose whether or not to let a man commit sucide.) Really, anyone who forces themselves to play the game in a certain restricted style (Steath, no kill, all kill) is not really getting the deeper point of the game, and thus will not get the full experience.
Nathan Gatten The problem is that people who did go on non-lethal runs (like me) were in a really bad way when coming into the boss battles without a lethal weapon. I carried a stun gun, tranq, and PEPS on my first run. When I hit Barrett though, I was really unprepared to deal with him. I luckily figured out that you could just go Donkey Kong on his ass and toss exploding barrels his way, but it still felt like it was railroading you into one play style for those moments. The boss battles themselves weren't bad; they were well balanced for combat and played out fine. I think the main problem is that it just forces you into one type of play when the rest of the game allows you to tackle objectives in a wide variety of ways. It's very jarring.
ShiningDialga It's really the barret boss fight for me where I really think this is a problem. Maybe if they made a way to sneak past. Or better yet, have the tranq and stun gun be more effective.
Nathan Gatten Grenades are the way to go, simple as, even if you plan to not carry frags, EMP's (which you should always have a few, cos robots), gas nades (which are super useful for pacifist runs) and conc nades stun him for so long it allows you to pretty much run past him into cover and effectively fool him into shooting the wall for a good few seconds while you shoot the crap out of him from the opposite end of the room. It also helps to have at least a semi-upgraded pistol for the fight, and the other fights, given that it often allows gets you by, not hard to attain one either, and since the bosses don't count in pacifist runs there's no pressure in taking him or the other bosses down. Though with Namir you can just punch him into submission. :p (I love that bug XD)
I am in love with that specific ost. I don’t even remember when I was so anxious about a slowly walking boss so much just because the music gives me a feeling that I am about to die and that threat is immeasurable. “He’s slow but pray for him not to finally get to you or he will tear you apart”.
I learned the hard way that one does not walk up to Barret Wallace and try to pull that melee shit on him. . . .One does not pull that shit on Barret. . . .
It's curious how this, been the first boss of all the game, could be also the hardest of it. At least I saw this fight more difficult and frustrating than the other ones that were after. I think that is because in this point of the game you are likely to don't have many strong augmentations and for that you are more vulnerable and easy to kill.
The composer (Michael McCann) actually did the soundtrack to Splinter Cell: Double Agent as well. You can really hear the evolution if you listen to that game's OST.
@mymothersmeatloaf You know, there is kind of war between cod and bf, players, but i didint heard anything like this about mass effect and deus ex. I agree that theese games are totly different, but if you heard theese two soundtracks you would know that there are in some kind of way similar, at least in few tracks, thats why i compare ME and DE
I really wish you could do bosses nonlethally. Every time I managed to sneak up on him for a takedown, he just instantly grabs me. It was the same for every boss after as well.
I went full on police brutality with the stun gun.
to the person who disliked this:" Barrett is sending you straight to hell !"
lol
Phase 1- 0:00
Phase 2- 3:15
Phase 3- 6:30
Phase 2 is 🔥🔥🔥
"Well lookee here we got ourselves a boyscout"
If I were Barrett I'd be happy to have a theme music this great.
I kept incendiary crossbow from the investigation mission and stuffed him a lot of bolts. Goes down very easy this way especially if he let his machinegun overheat and stall. Lesson learned: do not install cheap chinese weapons.
wow this version is nice, thanks for putting all the different renditions together
i didnt heard this song... i remember only the sound of him machinegun...............and me running everywhere to dodge him attacks
"You like pineapples kid?"
"bombs away boy scout!"

0:00 naked girl boss

6:30 major alexa boss
"I think he is the one who mocked up my Operation at morque!"
"Get rid of him Barrett!"
"With pleasure"
Gotta love how the music changes when you start winning. Why again do some people nitpick these awesome boss battles?

i thought that mass effect soundtrack was holding this specific awesome climat, until now... This soundtrack bits everything i heard
Scary boss fight music.
Watch this with earphones the bass is AMAZING
@MasterKira90 That's because the soundtrack blends in so well.
Dat bass gives me chills
Wall-dancing while the boss music plays again before leaving the facility

Never played Deus Ex before but this guy looks like Gordon Freeman on steroid

well, he does call you a greenhorn for a reason
"Get rid of him Barrett"
6:31
@briani4735263 "Don't die on me yet. This boy scout's got questions."
Loved the little nod to FF7 in the character's name :)
I just used the typhoon after all my ammo was gone.
How can I get this track downloaded? It is very well done compared to what I have heard of it.
This sounds not too dissimilar to Amon Tobins Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory soundtrack. That is not a bad thing.
The composer (Michael McCann) actually did the soundtrack to Splinter Cell: Double Agent as well. You can really hear the evolution if you listen to that game's OST.
Especially with a gatling gun/mini-gun arm

Awesome.
am i the only one hearing the chaos legion soundtrack in this?

Barret disliked this

I'm completely out of time, but the game developers said that it was just a coincedence.
