I wish they where developed in the 80’s when I was doing astrophotography. But back then we did film. Though at my college we did build a digital camera for our 16” scope with the incredible high resolution of 640x480 monochrome sensor that required extensive refrigeration to keep the CCD cool to tame noise. Another great video. Thank you.
Thank you Alex! Well, the spikes created with this tool can only be visible once you heavily magnify into the frame... So probably it wouldn't have been useful in the film era.
Hey Miklós, thanks for this review. Do you by any chance know the thickness of the Focus on Stars filter e.g. is it 2mm for example? I know you said it fits all standard filter holders, but I want to make sure it will fit the Kase filter frame setup. Thanks
Hi Ivan, thank you! I don't have a precision metering device, but measured with a simple ruler, it seems to be within 1-2 mm. So it definitely should go into your filter holder!
Hi! Any "square filter holder" will do, there are tons of different brands out there. Like this: www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1573866-REG/nisi_nip_100_v6a_v6_alpha_100mm_aluminum.html But I'm sure there are cheaper ones as well
Miklos, finally got around to watching your video. I am just now getting into astro photography. Where can you buy one of these filters. I have searched the internet and a lot of people talk about them but no one in the states sells them. Got a recommendation on where to buy them.?
Hi John, I don't have much experience with the other filters, and would definitely recommend the Focus On Stars filter over them. Here's where you can buy that (it is shipped from Hungary): focusonstars.com/ref/mayerm/ This guys definitely sells it :)
Late to the party but the tip on using video on Nikons is priceless. Thank you.
Thank you, glad to hear you like it :)))
I watched your video yesterday, nice job. You did a good presentation as well.
Thank you Joe, glad you liked it! :)
You should have black Friday Sale for this filter . I am thinking to buy one ❤️
I am not selling it, I just reviewed it :)

You're welcome
Thank you so much for these tips!
Happy to help!
Another great video! Where can I purchase the mount for this filter?

@@miklosmayerphoto how about the mount? Where do I buy it?
Is that ok if I just hold the filter by hand attached the front lens without filter holder?
You will have a harder time doing that, but yes, it's possible. I also did that, and worked.
Does this work effectively with 14mm lens?
Yes, it will! That's one of the main selling points of Focus on Stars - that it can be used with wide angles, too.
