Holding it steady in one hand would never work for me. So I would use a second tripod and and carefully clamp the filter to the tripod. All supplies that I already have around the house. Since it’s made of glass I would make sure the clamp I use is not so tight that it doesn’t damage the filter. Maybe encase the filter in something that I can clamp. I’m sure I can figure something out. Thanks Peter! I enjoyed all your videos.
Most square filter holders, like NiSi, are designed such that there is resistance when sliding the glass filter in and out. I'm wondering if this will inadvertently change the focus as some focusing rings of lenses are pretty loose and not stiff. Still, a good concept.
Ok Pete I will give the wide field one a go.I saw your last post it does look interesting and I have nothing for my 14mm and 35mm lenses.Hope its as good as you say :)
I believe KAMIL PEKALA reviewed the wide angle version of this filter. I've been thinking of trying it. Costly though. MSM has a similar filter. On this square size, and Circular, for half the price. I wish someone would review this one. Price is tempting, but round, can be used with step-down rings. I've Comunicated with them, they claim it's legit? Still an issue with Lenses that have fixed hood, like Rokinon 14, or Sigma Art 20.
The price doesn’t make much sense to me… seems a bit high for low level hobbyists yet anyone that’s into astrophotography more would have real telescopes and focusing automatically with software or a full size bahtinov mask that came with their scope… $110 + shipping + a filter holder is a bit much when a $15 Amazon bahtinov mask does the same thing. Seems like it’s meant for a suuuuppeerrr niche subset of astrophotographers. The wide field one makes a bit more sense for who would need it but at $150 that’s ridiculous too lol
Hey Peter, I noticed that ZWO changed the user interface on the ASIAIR around last month, and up until then I had my calibration frames totally figured out, now it’s really weird and you have to take them during the imaging session instead of being able to do it before, I’ve been looking just about every day for a couple weeks, trying to find a video covering this topic on how to take calibration frames with the new version of the ASIAIR, your tutorial uploaded also about a month ago on the 2023 workflow was really easy to follow, and as far as I know you’d be the first astrophotographer to make a video about this, please consider it, it would be a great help to me and probably a lot of other people, clear skies🫶🔭
I used my 3D printer to create bahtinov masks for my telephoto lenses and other telescopes.
This is the way
