Make MORE EPIC Product Commercials - Go Wide!

- Try this to make your product commercials more epic - go wide! By going wide with a lens such as the 16-35mm, you will have to get closer to the product which will cause the item being shot to distort from its true shape, but it will make it look more dominating and epic.
Usually I use a 100mm for most of my product shoots. This time I challenged myself to shoot a commercial with a wide lens. This created the awesome, low angle which makes the product look more important. Definitely a tip to try for your next video creations.
We all think that you need high end gear, kit that costs thousands. Well you don't. This video, along with the playlist I have created on how to shoot and edit product commercials proves that even on a budget, even when just shooting from kitchen or living room, you too can create an epic product commercial at home.
Showing how you can shoot product commercials with a look into behind the scenes will hopefully inspire you to get your camera out and start shooting.

I too use the Canon 100mm L-Series for all my Food and Product shots...that lens is JUST MONEY!!!

I only have an 18-135mm kit lens and a 100-400. The last one I can't really use for product videography
@@Ben-st5si your 18-135mm could work well. Especially as you don’t need to worry about it not being a ‘fast’ lens. For best focus results on product shots you’d want to be shooting at f8 and higher anyhow

Thanks a lot. Yeah I was tempted to do the spray in slow motion but as the ad was trying to be fast, impactful, and trying to limit myself to just 15 seconds, it probably would have eaten too much of the time and slowed down the pace of the edit. Always love a bit of slow mo though!

How did you do that shine on the can at the end? I just found your channel and you're killing it!
Thanks so much! It was a simple photoshop layer of the final can on top of the main can footage, but the photoshop layer had the lettering punched out. This then allowed me to sandwich in between the two layers a white head which I just key framed left to right. Hope that helps?

That was just a punched out photoshop layer (remove the parts where you want the effect to happen) placed on top of the original footage, and then in between those two layers was a gradient exposure layer which I just keyframed left to right. Simples 👍
