Hope you don't mind the rough and ready approach on this one? I could have spent forever getting creative angles and filling it with broll, but I always struggle with motivating myself to get these ones out. If you don't mind it rough, I'll be able to do more like this. If you haven't yet seen the original video on how I came up with the idea, storyboard, and finished advert, then it's certainly worth checking out here ruclips.net/video/zeWMAI464o8/видео.html
I had a absolute failed attempt doing a beer commercial yesterday. Totally forgot about the reflections. Tomorrow I’ll try something like this, since it’s mostly out of the chair. (Never done animation but I can manage those blinks)
Haha, sorry it took so long. Let me know if you don't mind this raw approach. I'll be able to do a lot more frequently if I can do it as rough as this edit

With content this good and tight, it's just a matter of time. It's so bingeable. I discovered the channel yesterday, and have already watched I'd say 10-12 videos start to finish. When RUclips sees stuff like that they'll push your videos out to similar viewers. Do a collaboration with Film Booth. (Where I heard about your channel). I watch a lot of larger channels in the film making/doing RUclips space and your quality, the value you give and personality are all up there with the bigger channels. Just make more vids.
If your retention is good, and I reckon it must be (I certainly watched all the videos I've started so far!), it could be a lower CTR is holding you back. From a graphic design point of view they look nice, but when they are viewed small they might be a bit text heavy. One piece of advice I've seen about this is aiming not to have more than 3 words, 5 max, and you don't need to repeat text you'll be putting in your title. Not that you asked 😅 sorry!
I use a mixture of songs from Epidemic Sound, and for the main film this was using Artlist - link in description if you want to check them out. Pretty cool for client work as the license is all covered.
How can you create good lighting as a beginner for product commercials shooting with a phone ? i will start with making product commecial with my phone. your video's are always awesome. keep going :)
I tell you what, maybe I'll add this to a future video soon. I'll take my phone (iPhone 12 mini) and only use that with what sort of light? Window light (free), computer screen (free), my cheap Godox SL60W, or my Aputure 300Dii ? If you set the rules, I'll take on the challenge.
@@JamesKellyStudio some cheap lighting gear under a budget of 80 dollars you get that budget and need to create a good commercial with your phone. you can choose what lighting you want or extra stuff such as a diffuser or... with a budget of 80 dollars. looks me nice. a good starters budget i think.
Breakdown and Beer 🍻 Regular slot? 👍 I'm a new viewer, Film Booth mentioned your channel in his recent livestream, but I have already watched loads of your videos since discovering it yesterday. Brilliant stuff. I think on RUclips when you make high production value content that takes a lot of time to plan/film/edit then it makes sense to intersperse that content with talking head or screen share videos or live streams which you can get out quicker. I relate a lot (also being at the small kid season of life) to how hard it can be to create "consistently" on YT so whatever makes it easier to post. The high production value videos are awesome, and people understand they take longer to produce and that you have work and family commitments too, so if you need to post less frequently that's cool too. We can wait.
I have Ed to thank so much for always praising my content. Glad you enjoyed my content so far, I do wish I had a bigger catalogue, but yeah, young family and life certainly don’t allow for that magic RUclips consistency 😆
Yeah, breaking it down this way made me realise it’s actually pretty simple when you watch it back. I mean it’s just some key frames on a layered photoshop file ☺️
sometimes as audience we connect more with rough/ phone videos vs the high production sets and scripted/edited content. although you have so much better videos this is the one I will remember.
Hi james i am getting into the product commercials, u really are an inspiration. There’s a draw back, that i am just starting and the clients don’t pay much, like 10-15 dollars per product. so doing all those creative and time consuming stuff for that cheap is not working for me. How do i break that circle? please share your story about how did u start?
Hmmm that price is just not acceptable. Unless you find a way of bulk filming and editing them all (and there’d need to be hundreds to make that price anything to look at), I can’t see that being something to say yes to. You need to be firm with your day rate, work out how many you can shoot in that day, and then work out how much time it’ll take to edit them all. I think it’s one where they are taking advantage of you and id be cautious committing to the work at that rate. For me I have years of experience in agencies and kind of know what rates should be charged. You should definitely check out the channel The Future. They give great advice on costs snd knowing your worth.
@@JamesKellyStudio Thanks for highlighting the day rate policy. I’ll try to lure them into that bracket and you mentioned agencies. I don’t knw why but i am afraid of joining any agency 😬 but yes i will also try to join some in near future.
Hi, i was the one who asked for this tutorial. Thanks for great breakdown. Actually i think you answered most of the quetions. I am not sure if it gonna help, but what if you try to use next time Adobe Dimension for wraping labels on a round or any another surface. This programm is defenetly the easiest one of adobe cloud: Its like a 3 steps to get it done and them you can export it simply in a different formats. Not quite sure if its better solution. And yeah this video was actually fun, because it was real. Dont try to do,it right - because it is right like this.
Appreciate the suggestion. Question though - can you add a video layer to the Adobe Dimension software? My next video for a client had to tackle this exact problem - animating on a cylinder! THAT WAS A LEARNING CURVE! But luckily I cheated it a little in After Effects with the built in cylinder effects. Hoping to showcase this one soon as it was another powerful example of what can be done with flat artwork. Greatt hat I can be a bit more raw when it comes to these videos. Too often I'm worried about lighting and camera angles. Be good to not have that worry so much 👍
@@JamesKellyStudio i am not quite sure, but since maybe last year dimension export also as obj and this is format for an 3delement - rhe easiest plugin/3dsoftware for aftereffect - and then you can rotate your object in any direction as you like. Funniest thing i didnt try any of my suggestions for you never at all))) i just understand this step how its could work)) and i thin you cant add a video layer to dimension
@@StanislavBagin I have a little bit (tiny) of experience with Cinema4D, and was contemplating using that for the client job mentioned. But luckily After Effects allowed me to use quite a basic feature for 3D and mimic the look of something created in 3D software. Plus it allowed me to use pre comps on the cylinder, so in a way a flat animation could look as though it was on a bottle.

how you did that subtle motion on that
Pepper ...... that floating effect. is that an effect or you just manually keyframed it
That was the built in wiggle inside After Effects, but very very low
