WAY easier: Buy JB weld glass, remove metal back piece from mirror, glue piece on windshield, then slide mirror on after a few hrs. We didn't need anything to hold metal piece but would've used duct tape but our glue was thickening after 3-4 minutes so we didn't need tape.
Finally found a tutorial ! My windshield looks exactly like that and the car dealerships are charging me an arm and a leg to fix it ! Thanks :)
UPDATE : It worked :)
Glad it helped
Now my turn to go through the process 🤦🏻♂️ but thanks for the video it’s gonna save me some money to. And I need to fix something for the first time in my life too 😂
@@Deeguapo1 I’m in the same boat as you now🤦🏽♂️😂
@@xero8865did u manage to fix it? With this same gorilla glue or jb weld?
Hi there! Currently having the same rear mirror problem and this video helps a lot! It is been a while and wonder how’s the condition now?
It’s should last a year or two :)
Thank you this helped a lot. They wanted me to replace my whole windshield and I was wondering if I could put the mirror next to the original mounting area but knew it would look like crap and don’t know if it’s legal.
No problem 👍 Here are 4 Free Chapters from my 2 books: bit.ly/3D5HuNG
Greetings Joshua from Florida It's been almost a year for you is the Gorilla epoxy glue still holding? Thanks
Actually, it got over 100 degrees here in MO and finally fell :/ I notice my Honda Accord gets unusually hotter than other vehicles as well, so could've hit 120 inside. I am redoing it again now, same way
My car is little different than just using the yellow-typical mirror glue because I have to fill the hole as well
Was the hole in glass completely filled in with glue
Yes. I completely filled it with glue :)
Hey 👋. How'd you get the clip off the mirror mount? Thanks
It slides off, but only in one direction 😉
How good do this hold? And how did you get it to glue? Won’t it seep down the windshield?
The hold is really good actually :) You kind of have to work it/move it some while it dries. When you apply the metal with glue it softens the glue a little again, but it is a really quick dry...
@@JoshuaAugust thanks i got clear jb weld and it works just the same
@@christopherlitton696how is it holding up for u?
Did you use Gorilla Glue and the Gorilla Brand Epoxy? If not, which glue did you use to glue mounting brack to the epoxy area?
Just epoxy for both ;)
Thank you a million!!!! I did the exact same thing.
sweet
Did you have to sand the dry epoxy after?
Nope
You should use the jb weld clear weld is way better than this gorilla glue, has heat retention too. Try it next time it falls
How did this work out? I'm facing the same issue myself
still going strong 3+ months
Wish you showed filling it in. I'm a little sketched out to try it and idk if I should just leave it because the glass still fits in there snug or not.
It was hard at the time b/c I was the cameraman and filler 😆
all I used was little pieces of the cardboard box the glue came in to put it in & the plastic part as the trough for glue
have other pieces of cardboard ready b/c we know how sticky glue is. It runs some so you kinda push it back gently until initial hardening happens
I kind of had to hold it w/ the initial hardening when attaching the mirror - but it worked well :)
What glue did you put on the button itself the gorilla one or the perm one
gorilla on both, should last bout a year
how did you get the epoxy to stay in the hole without any dripping out etc, im facing the dame issue
yeah, it's a little tricky, you have to keep moving it around gently until it dries, I just used a sliver of cardboard from the package
@@JoshuaAugust so what did u use to apply it inside the hole? just brushed it in thick and then cover with carboard untill it set? sorry for so many questions lol thanks for yhe reply
nope, never covered it, just kept gently brushing evey 20-30 secs until dry-sih, then I put the plate on while it was a little wet to stick :)
I just did this for my side car mirror, do I just wait for 12 hrs until I try to attach it back to my car ?
Yeah. But when the glue meets glue it will soften some because of the chemicals. You’ll have to hold it a bit for the re-dry. Or put a clamp or something to hold for you
Hi dear i m ording gorilla glue today coz got same problem in my car,but i want to ask i qstn to u,ive the piece of glass attached in mirror mount which came out from windshield , i glue the piece together or just fill the gap only with glue 1st, n after i do it i have to glue it again with same glue in mirror mount is it??
Yeah, fill the gap first & chip off any broken glass before glueing the mirror 🪞🍯
How did you remove the glass from mount?
I actually had to chip it off, I put it on a hard service and grinding it some too
@@JoshuaAugust Thanks! I tried it and it worked
Thank you!!!
No problem
I have same problem. I have been advised against filling epoxy in chip to avoid any cracks. 2016 make car. Did you see cracks or any other problems with this fix ?
Nope. Not a single crack 😎 still going strong 💪 🚗
Thank you for the reply. Do you think living in Midwest where we have lot of snow causes any cracks ?
how does it look from outside
Great :) That was my concern too.. some tiny bubbles, but not bad at all
Did it ever fall off
my car gets unusually hot, I don’t know why :( it lasted me a year, it should last you much longer though :)
Thanks, I have the same problem.
No problem
Ok, so you filled the hole on the windshield with epoxy? Did you sand it to leave it nice and smooth? I'm in the exact same situation.
I didn't sand b/c I was putting a plate over, so no one would see... if you brush it right, you won't have to sand it maybe, mine was nice and smooth :)
Yes but you neglected to show hope you applied the epoxy
Same thing happened to me with my 2017 dodge challenger today.
Yeah, it’s a bummer… but fixable
Is it still holding the mirror from 2020?
Yes :)
@@JoshuaAugust great thanks mate
You posted this video about a year ago. How's it holding up? Is it holding up still? Thanks!
Yep, yep. Strong as ever :) That's funny, was just thinking about this video today.
@@JoshuaAugust so I used super glue after my mirror fell off and when it fell again it created the chunk in the glass. Do you think this will hold up if you have subwoofers in the car?
@mr.astonish1983 I have mirror fell down. Because of subs ..is there anything that can keep mirror glued to windshield
Ask if the best has fallen
?
But I wanted to see the finishing look from the out side
It looks great 👍
what about the other side of the windshield..it's now clear not black
Mine didn't go all the way through :/ I would just paint or sharpe over it I guess
@@JoshuaAugust yeah im gonna car brush paint and paint that area with white color..then fill it up with clear epoxy..I think white is better than black since it reflects sunlight rather then absorb it
Joshua, Be a big help, and better video, if you didn't skip over the key parts!
🤦♂️
Add a little black ink from a pen or marker. That’s what I did.
nice, ya did that too 👌
