Reason why I love RUclips..thought I was screwed when someone broke in my car and yanked my rear view mirror off the windshield..was thinking no way will there be an instructional video for my Audi 5S but here it was..Thanks man!
Mike, thank you so much for this. We had the exact same problem after a glass replacement in our 2010 A4 Quattro Avant, and could not figure it out. You helped us uncover the carelessly inverted retainer spring. We followed your example, and now it's good as new!
Thanks so much for the video. Without it I don’t think I would have figured out the mechanism on my own. After watching your detailed explanation it took me about 2 minutes to reattach the mirror.
Thank you for the very helpful video! I did not want to break the mirror doing something wrong, after watching your video I was able to fix mine in about a minute (2012 A6, the metal clip is slightly different, but the process is the same).
Thank you so much for this! I just bought a used Audi that has this clip, and the previous owner hadn’t put it back on correctly, only two out of three tabs connected, and this video helped me figure out how it worked and put it back together. Thanks!
Thank you, this video was really helpful to assemble the mirror in 2011 Q5 after it just snapped off (so says my Mom) I did not catch at the beginning that your Audi is S5 and thought it was Q/SQ with stick-shift and was really jealos for few minutes, then realized that it is S5, which is still rare but possible to find with manual gearbox...
So I spent the last 4 years thinking my insecure mirror was my fault, and it looks like the people who replaced my windshield around then had just put the bracket back on backwards. FABULOUS. Also, at some point I'd actually brought it to an Audi dealer who told me they'd have to order a part that never showed up. wtf.
If I recall correctly, I just pulled the connectors apart. There wasn't a traditional locking tab to depress, otherwise I would have put that in the video. There is a little metal retention bracket you can see on the clip around the 1:14 mark. If you are having trouble getting the connectors apart you may try pushing something into the tiny square hole that metal bracket is revealed through.
Thank you so much Mike.I fixed my Q5 today after a mont of agony.
Perfect, thanks. Sideswiped the mirror clean off while washing the inside, so thanks for the help reattaching

Thank you very much. I couldn't have replaced the mirror on my daughter's '09 A4 Avant without your vid!

What was the processing for unclipping the wiring connector? Your video cuts there.
