So glad that youre enjoying it way more in later listens 🤗👌👌(:) it's that kind of album, and at that, its so great, it takes over you,,, and i love that 👌love the iconicity in each track, how each song has a different color, letssayxD, the comic vibe, the meta fueled into the lyricism, how all this in a full album makes this extra abstract trip, how that goes along with the idea/lore xD madvillain gets in your brain with his rhymes and destroys it. But well xD 🫂🙏💗loved hearing along as always, im a great fan of this album, and of your reactions of horse xDd☺️❤️💕 My favs definetely Eye / All Caps & Great Day, super bouncy just goood album 🤗 thank u for listening it path!¡ ❣️have a great day 👌(xDseewhatididthere) ok thats that 🙏 god bless, take care xxD 👋👋💗
I haven't checked the channel but if you haven't do wu tang
desperately awaiting your review of Atrocity Exhibition
fun fact: the reason Sickfit is a short instrumental is because MF DOOM told Madlib it was too good to rap on. He didn't want to disrespect the beat because he liked it that much
i swear it’s the same with figaro
@@crytstalcrust This might be super weird for me to say, but I really don't like the figaro instrumental. I like that little bit at the start but otherwise... prolly one of my least favorite beats. hella good lyrics tho.
that might be the most insane thing to ever come out of a rappers mouth I'm ngl
@@clux9134 u heard of Kanye brud
@@clux9134he's a producer too
He understands the weight of an amazing beat
Madlib and MF DOOM one of the best duos in rap for me. Looking forward to watching this!!!
Mf doom is overrated mid
AMEN!!
@@Cornelious841 Because your brain is not capable of comprehending the complex wordplay and the sufficient inclusion of the beats in DOOM's music I'll give you a quick indoctrination into the world of great music. The references and quick rhymes that are present in DOOM's work far surpasses the likes of current rap and pop music like Taylor Swift and sometimes even Kanye.
@@Cornelious841 low tier bait
@@Cornelious841 No cereal for you.
quite possibly the GREATEST hip hop album ever made. so glad you’re reacting to this, can’t wait to watch and fall in love all over again with this one
I think TPAB is better just from cultural importance but this comes just behind it.
There's others albums that could be in the greatest position. Like Illmatic by Nas, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Yeezus by Kanye West, or TPAP by Kendrick Lamar...
But in my opinion is My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, the best album that I've ever heard ❤
@@gustaleblanccollege dropout is a bit better imo
@@manlikemars2929 It's difficult to say what's Kanye's best album, I guess this show that he's one of the best artists of all time. His discography is incomparable.

I have to say I appreciate your formatting of making a simple reaction into a layered and interesting video. Your implementation of multiple aspects without it feeling cluttered makes these so enjoyable :)
I appreciate that!
@@firstlast7184She's mixing both. We have the important live reactions and the "review" comments. Way more interesting than just a basic reaction or first listen video imo
I appreciate you covering underground, unheard of artists like this. I didn’t respect you before, but after this, I respect you a little more
thank u bradley i try my best to lift voices
Ok Brad but when are you listening to Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes
"I didn't respect you before" 💀
hogwash
you're gonna have to call off the diss track now bradley
Path, you have absolutely no idea the absolute GRIP this album has on people aged 25-35 years old.
For many of us, this was our first introduction to rap music that wasn't club music. A lot of us couldn't understand what he was saying, but...we felt it? It was a type of sound that many of us had never heard before. It really was a door for more non mainstream music for many of us.
really love this comment. love when albums cause a cultural shift even if i wasnt there for it!
i was 14 when i first listened to this, it was a trippy experience
Very well said. This took me to a rabbit hole that I'm still not out of
grip reaper
How was this your introduction to rap???
this is a rare album where it gets better every listen for most people i guarantee if you listen a few more times it will be one of your favorites of all time
odd, for me its hard to find an album thats not better on the 2nd listen lol
@@vepplyHonestly, I think a lot of trap is that way where it sounds hard af the first listen but then loses its appeal on the second or third listen. Definitely not all trap tho but it's the genre where I see it the most
i hated it first listen. heard a King Gheedorah song in a hip hop themed fish and chip shop a couple months later, which made me check out Fancy Clown- which I remembered liking- and eventually i relistened. Now it's my third or fourth fav album of all time(tossed up with Hounds of Love by Kate Bush)
At one time i had the whole album on my playlist but now only a few
Madvillainy is an all time favorite album of mine
Rhinestone Cowboy is one of my favorite songs off the album
ending of verse 1
DOOM: “You're blind in the wine zone
Leave ya mind blown when he shine with the 9
He's a rhinestone…cowboy”
*audience starts clapping*
*DOOM realizing “cowboy” didn’t fit the rhyme scheme*
DOOM: no no no enough
ending of verse 2
DOOM: “Its made of fine chrome alloy
Find him on the grind
He's the rhinestone cowboy!!”
DOOM is such a perfectionist!
i never noticed that lol
Been a DOOM fan for years, listened to the songs hundreds maybe thousands of times never caught this or interpreted like this. That's the beauty of DOOMS music I never stop finding things to love
love this
me too bro
Have it on my playlist
What a brilliant breakdown.
Also a fun fact from Rhinestone Cowboy - the applause and cheers you hear are taken from Glen Campbell’s 1975 live version of his song Rhinestone Cowboy.
Many thanks for your great work
such an awesome detail. thank you for sharing!

This album is AMAZING. PATH is honestly one of the best reaction youtubers with her style n format. REMEMBER ALL CAPS WHEN YOU SPELL THE MAN NAME
Idk if anyone commented about this, but the sample for Raid (America Latina - Osmar Milito) isnt a 4/4 beat, but has a 3/4 time signature. and the way that madlib samples it so interesting and cool, he fills the empty spaces within the sample which creates that distinct chop. Madlibs sampling is so cool
I love this channel, your reactions seem so genuine + your voiceovers give great insight on your thought process without disrupting the flow of the vid. Super excited for this video (:
Thank you! 😊 🥹
The comic references with DOOM are just golden. If there were INFINITY STONES of RAP, the Red Gem he added to his mask at some point would be the Rhime-Stone.
Something of note that I find interesting about "Eye" is that DOOM has said that he liked having at least one feminine track on the second-half of most of his records. Whether it be a song about feminity or a female artist featured, it's a theme that you can see in all of his work.
To me, he always managed to have the best female features
i’m honestly surprised by this reaction. tbh i struggled to truly appreciate this album on my first listen or even after multiple listens. Path, you have an amazing ability to absorb and interpret the music. You have inspired me to re- listen. great job
thank u so much for this. 🥹
Some albums are cinematic through their captivating storytelling and the progression of an overarching narrative, this one feels like watching a marathon of your favorite Saturday morning cartoon, and I mean that in the absolute best way possible.
absolutely!!!
The Frank Zappa "Sleeping in a jar", Meat Grinder sample is still the coolest thing in the album for me
oops i think i cut it from the edit haha. what’s the significance of the sample?
@@pathreactsI don’t think it’s particularly significant in its meaning - Frank Zappa is just the king of experimental rock and it’s cool that madlib picked it. Though entirely different genres, their oddball and abstract nature is the same.
What I love about Madvillainy is that even now it sounds so fresh, and is so packed that even after a bunch of listens you can always find some new, ridiculously clever lyrics or bits of music production.
Also, great work (as always) Path! I somehow stumbled upon your Flower boy video last summer, and it's been such a pleasure to (re)discover a bunch of albums alongside your videos.
Such an underrated part of this album is how the skits switch between describing ‘Madvillain’ as 1 person and multiple. Kind of makes the idea of Madvillain seem more mysterious. Is it an organisation, a single super villain, a duo? Who knows
i think i was just left confused so i refer to it as The Villain and The Villains depending on the song 😆
DOOM’s music is so rich! You can always come back to it and pick up many things you missed. I’ve heard this album dozens of times and still find something new
It sad hearing the news of the condition he was put in before his passing, forever timeless music, rip the mad villain MF DOOM
i remember being obsessed with this album when i heard it 10 years ago, and yet it has still been in rotation yearly. with each listen you still hear a new bar a new pun or a new rhyme pattern. DOOM is your artist's favorite artist for a reason. i genuinely believe this is the greatest hip hop album with how timeless, creative, and unique it is. im so glad you reacted to it :) some appreciation in his flows can be seen if you watch some of those rhymes highlighted videos :o ill never understand how he was able to rhyme multiple lines at a time consistently
Now this is a album reaction, i love the in depth commentary and editing. Never been much for album reaction youtubers, but you are by far the best i've seen
Rest in peace to one of the greatest MC’s ever. Definitely one of the best hip hop albums ever created
Excellent video analysis of the album. It brings me so much joy watching someone light up the way you do at something I hold dear, and I think this video has made me appreciate the album even more than I did before.
love this format for reviewing🙌
Watching someone else experience an album you love for the first time, is the closest thing you can ever get to listening to it for the first time again
I’m pretty sure doom made it clear that sickfit and supervillain theme were such amazing instrumentals he didn’t think he could rap on it, once again love the vid this is one of my fav albums growing up🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I'm new to your channel and I gotta say, I've seen a lot of people "react" to this album, but your reaction and format are unmatched. Great job, glad you enjoyed it! 'MM FOOD' is a fantastic album, full of even more samples, you'll dig it. Also please consider Lupe Fiasco's Discography, he's another incredible lyricist. 'Food & Liquor' would be a good starting place.
This honestly is one of the best reactions I’ve ever seen - made my day
i love your editing and the video essay style voiceover, and your voice is so relaxing
I dont know how you do it, but watching these makes me feel lke I'm listeng to these albums for the first time all over again lol.
wonderful reaction path, absolutely timeless project
I love your bits of voice over. It’s a good way to keep a reaction interesting during the whole video. Great work!
Thank you!!! This is a gift! My favorite reactor, and my favorite album. Might just reenact the tragedies of 1976 from being so happy
This album is beautiful, majestic,ethereal,flowy
So glad you got to react to this masterpiece!
I was surprised to hear you say you won't be listening to it again fully. This is one of the few albums I will enjoy every full listen more than the last. So much to unpack and focus on each listen if you want. Or you want just play it as background music too. So versatile. Great reaction tho!
im happy to announce i have gone back to listen a few more times as a full album :)
this is one of the greatest pieces of art to ever happen to music, not just hip hop. genuinely breaks the boundaries of all time of music, plus it had the same effect as Illmatic had when that dropped because when everyone saw how insane DOOM’s rapping was, everyone else just said “aight nah, I need to step up my game”
even though these projects are drastically different, the money store by death grips is what I consider the dystopian madvillainy. instead of the humor in the complex world play, it’s replaced with vile, pure manic and evil lines of some of the most brutal things any man has ever said, all paired with, while overloading in terms of how industrial and all over the place they are, earworm-esque instrumentals. it’s just pure animalistic energy, it is not a fun project, just pure brutality. and yet somehow it’s not even the most brutal project death grips as made LOL. I’d HIGHLY suggest trying out the money store for a more insane and mindblowing experience, even though I do prefer madvillainy over it. just a suggestion :D
I give a ton of respect for the formatting and editing in this video. As far as reaction videos go you have lyrics up, voice overs of your thoughts, thorough examination of every track, and a ton of your personality, etc. Best reaction video format I've ever seen. Great video :)
they way you break the video down like an album analysis/review is super refreshing and it's always dope hearing someone show midvillainy some love. you got some interesting insights too. excited to see what you'll review next 🙏
Path, you have very thought provoking insights and its really nice to see your live reaction, keep it up !
The way you analyze music is insane instant sub
The way my jaw dropped when I saw the notification for this, I’m so glad that you decided to listen to this album!!
Mad respect for you! Best reviewer ive seen so far! You totally get everything about this wonderful gem of an album❤
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LOOOONG!!! AWESOME!!
This is my favorite album glad to see people giving something so old a chance
This album aged like wine, doesn't look any old 🍷
@@gustaleblanc I’m saying my friends told me let the album go but I have yet to hear a better album my brother
I’m still shocked by how this album revamped to become super popular. I remember buying this on iTunes in 8th grade. Long live the mad villain
Definitely didn't expect this, good coverage as Always.
oh yeah - now we’re talking.
this album is a fucking classic, but it took like five listens for it to click with me. that made me appreciate it even more, to be completely honest!
sort of the same for me, though a bunch of the tracks grew on me at different times. it was already one of my favourite hip hop albums i'd ever listened to before i even realized figaro is as amazing as it is, for example, lol.
i heard a lot of this, so i was worried it wouldnt click for me on first listen either lol. tbh i hadnt gotten back to it that frequently until recently (this was recorded in february) and having to figure out what i loved on first listen helped me to appreciate it more :)
Gotta give it a relisten. Curls still sits in my head as such a memorable song despite it being so short
Among my favorite albums of all time... I clicked on this insanely fast, always love your videos
Very easily my favourite album of all time, also this is a cool style of reaction video
Production value is top notch for a reaction video.
MY FAVORITE REACTOR + MY FAVORITE ARTIST + MY FAVORITE ALBUM
I'm in heaven!
Never too late!!! Mad respect for you doing this!
Thank you yt for recommending this love the way you break down the music but not make it too technical and the genuine reactions
One of the greatest collaborations in music history. The one album that reignited my interest in all things hip-hop. Madvillainy is simply untouchable.
Path’s voice makes these videos feel like if those meditation apps did album breakdowns 😂
you need so many more subscribers, with this quality of content. Big ups
AMAZING album. figaro the best song imo and the most underrated. madlib is probably in the top 5 of the best producers oat and MF DOOM is simply amazing. rest in peace villain.
Rhinestone Cowboy is the best imo, and I’m still bumping sickfit daily
another amazing piece! thank you for your work!!! one of my all time favorite records, and I have to say: my favorite thing about this video is the way you let yourself not love it/or let it not be quite your speed. that’s so much harder, I’d guess, than feigning false, total love. especially for a record held so dearly and tightly and durably for so many fans-myself included: a decade and a half of listening to this and thinking it’s the best thing I’ve ever heard. I love how you listen! but more, I love that you listen! so special! keep keepin it real. ❤another killer. bravo!
Came up on my recommended, great video.
Can’t recommend enough to listen to the album without pause, it flows so perfectly from track to track. It gives it a whole new vibe
Amazing video and awesome album pick, Path! It is a really dense production and DOOM lyrics only start to make sense after a few listens. You got a lot of those references very quickly, it was really nice! Congrats and good luck exploring DOOM's and Madlib's other productions, if you will! 🎉🎉🎉
PS: Wishing you all the best there in Paris! Hopefully everything is ok
thank you :) it did take some digging to understand a lot of the lyrics, that's why they're added after the fact lol
and thank you! doing well here 🫶
I bingewatched like 7 of your videos in one night, you are THAT entertaining! Keep it up!
Yoooo glad you finally got around to this! I've loved this album since my dad introduced it to me. Just holds a lot of nostalgia. Thanks for the reaction
Raid holds a special place for me as it’s the first MF DOOM track I heard. Was jamming at work and it came up in my suggested songs. The beat hooked me first then I just dove headlong into his catalog.
Awesome! For me it was from Boondocks when you see Huey fight a guy with an afro and the background plays ALL CAPS. I remember searching then I ended up hearing the whole album and falling in love.
@@hawkeyedsentinel4648that’s wassup! For as long as I can remember Rakim was my favorite MC, but after digging into DOOM he became my new no.1
@@reggiejones907 bro normally I'm not sad with famous actors or artists that pass away but for MF DOOM it was sad because we have no idea who he is behind the character you know. I wished for an album about him personally as Daniel Dumile. Its like having a real character that disappeared all of a sudden.
I don’t even like most of the albums posted on the channel I just really like hearing you talk lmao it’s so peaceful
how can you not like most of the albums? madvillainy, ok computer, tpab, dsotm, gkmc, ksg. all classics
@@wii240 I just don’t listen to those artists as much besides Kendrick and I ironically don’t like TPAB. If it’s a “classic” I probably don’t like it. I’m not trying to be different, I’m just really dense and if I have to think too hard I won’t enjoy the music.

This is one of my favorite albums ever and Everytime I listen to it in excited by it again
What makes this album great is just how they followed no rules on this project. It’s so abstract it’s so raw and authentic and fulfills everything a listener of hip hop would want to hear. Almost like the epitome of what hip hop can be as a genre. MM..FOOD goes even further into DOOMs mind as to how he can take a concept and bring you into his world while keeping the listener entertained with the concept. Also you’ll learn different facts about food..
'THE MOUSE AND THE MASK' is probably my favourite MF DOOM album, I'd highly recommend. Love the vids and the hard work you put in as always
Hmm interesting choice. I love danger mouse as a producer but I don’t think either are at their peak on the album

All time favorite album of mine, one of the first vinyls I ever added to my collection! RIP to the villain DOOM
this album is obviously a classic but im personally more excited to hear your thoughts on MM..FOOD which is literally what it sounds like... its a food-themed comicbook story which progresses throughout the album, its such an enjoyable listen, its my go-to comfort album!
YES YES YES YES YES I've been waiting for this one for so long!!
If you want to really get into DOOM's writing style I suggest you watch a few lyrical breakdowns of some of his songs. Accordian is an incredibly dense one full of obscure references. Vox Earworm has a great video explaining DOOM's rhyme style. Also listening to his other projects helps you get used to his style for sure, coming back to Madvillainy after listening to Take Me To Your Leader and MM Food really made that album way better somehow haha.
I really like how you edited this with your well-formed thoughts dropped in after the fact. It's a kind of happy medium between a reaction video and a more structured analysis. Quite different than other reaction videos which can get kinda 'sludgy'. 👍
While I’ve considered Madvillainy as my favorite album for a while now, watching you react to this entire album makes me respect the album even more since I forgot how actually amazing it was. And what’s even more impressive is that a demo of the album was originally stolen and leaked to the point where they worked on the album again. Really goes to show how talented MF DOOM and Madlib can be without even mentioning it.
This is still one of my favorite albums. So unique and influential for hip hop today.
Thx for making hip hop a more chill approachable topic 🤙🏾

Really great analysis! I’ve been a music listener for a while and you talk about all the things I look for in objectively good music.
There is no cohesive flow to it?!😅 This is flowing like nothing else. It‘s a Villains‘s stream of consciousness. All tied together by reoccuring lyrical and musical motifs and the specific overall feel and production.
LOL i think i meant storyline flow or messaging
Fun fact: MF DOOM is British. It’s really an ASAP Rocky situation where he was brought to America before he could be vocally colonized, but it still counts and I would like to say he LAPS Skepta easily.
I think you mean 21 Savage instead of Rocky lmao
Confused me for a wee second
