    ive been getting a lot of heat for my comment about how his "lyrics dont mean anything" so i just want to clarify that it was a response to molly asking if "accordion" meant anything. DOOM himself said "theres not a big concept behind it, its like a freestyle verse". i didnt literally mean his lyrics in general are meaningless but i understand if you took it differently. either way, thanks for checking out the video ✌🏼

      People take things too seriously sometimes. I truly appreciate that you have a sense for good music. I will be the first one to say that MF DOOM is one of the greatest and I am still yet to listen to his whole discog. Hes not one of those artist you can listen to in the background, you have to pay attention.

    for everyone asking why archie chose to start here - i actually wanted to!! like i said at the start of the video, i’m a *huge* fan of wordplay, to the point that i even wrote research into the translation of it, and archie had told me that DOOM is considered one of the masters of it so i was interested. i also already know and love special herbs so i wanted to hear him rap. and either way, i ultimately loved this album so not sure why it’s a bad thing we started here 😭😭 anyway thanks for watching!!

      Having Madvillain as an introduction to Hip Hop is like putting on Avengers: Endgame. They will not get any references, nuances, they may not even the clichés of the genre well enough to keep up. Bad Choice

    • @Sillychaz3
      @Sillychaz3 10 месяцев назад +25

      @@bruceleeds7988 That’s what makes it a great album to return to though. The more hip hop/ pop culture/ comic book/film knowledge you gain the more you can appreciate said nuances. No need to gate keep an album for its obscurity, it’s a great album with shit anyone can appreciate.

      It was great to see your genuine joy and appreciation, reacting to different parts and the album as a whole. Since you're into wordplay, you should definitely check out Aesop Rock! He has a very impressive vocabulary and his raps are packed to the brim with sick rhyme schemes and next level metaphors. While his work is often criticized for being hard to decipher (especially his earlier records) one can definitely enjoy his skillful craft on a surface level as well. A good entry point could be "The Impossible Kid" as it is considered one of his more accessible records. Alternatively listen to "Mindful Solutionism" from his forth coming album as it displays his technical skills and wordplay in a somewhat simple and forthright way. Enjoy, and thank me later;)

      What happened to me is after listening do DOOM for the first time I couldn't get into any new hip hop. Only stuff I had heard before listening to him. I don't think it's a bad stard but the bar will be set pretty high. If you dig wordplay you should listen to some Aesop Rock, too.

      @@evaan9178 ahh it's hard for me to think about good first rap album to listen since there's a lot of other stuff that i haven't heard yet (i'm just a casual fan). But if i recommend someone for their first rap album, i would pick something like The Lost Boy by Cordae. For me, that album "well balance". Music-wise, it's sounds nice if you look for something to vibing with, lyricly, it's quite solid if you look for lyrical content, not too complex, but not too simple either.

      @@mr.bigweld8138 im not saying lost boy is better album than madvillainy, i mean i would introduce someone around me into rap album with something that kinda "mild" rather than stuff that way complex like DOOM's discog since his discog require taste. Especially when i live where most people around me rarely use english in our daily life or even can't understand english quite well. Heck, im barely understand any word the first time i heard DOOM, it's just grew on me and getting better overtime when my english quite improved over a years and able to catch his lyrics (most of them still flies over my head tho).

    This is my favorite reaction to any DOOM release ive seen. There are so many life long rap fans that dont jive with or see the vision in this project and to see someone completely outside the culture click with it and experience the same joy I get from this was a pleasure. This was the closest i have gotten to hearing the album like I did for the first time again. All time classic record, thank you for sharing.

    What I love about the line where he doesn't end with "bitches" but instead "booze", he also STARTS saying "pussy" to obviously say he needs to get laid, but changes it to "psychiatrist" while pronouncing the first 2 letters PS the way you think you should when you're learning these words as a kid. It doesn't make sense the P is silent. But it still sounds like Pussychiatrist. 😂
