The Brothers founded it...Bee Gees is Brothers Gibb. Yes, they're brothers , yes they're awesome, and yes, there are TONS of gems. Among THE BEST balladeers EVER! Often overlooked and not given the credit as songwriters and musicians they deserve. My FAVORITE group of ALL TIME!!!
When real artists cover this song, they do it out of respect - realizing that the original vocals simply cannot be matched. Folks, this is straight up talent - no auto tune. This is magic.
I grew up with the Bee Gees, & you have no idea how happy it makes me, to see the younger generation discover the music we fell in love with !!! Barry Gibb, in my opinion, has the best falsetto voice ever, & what makes it so incredible, that in his falsetto, he also used his vibrato, which is very rare! Thank you so much for this, they were brothers, & Barry is the last one, but please review more of their music, you will not be disappointed, & they span over years, & crossed many genres :) And you are so right, this time in music, the songs were talking to women, and not at them, there is a big difference & me being a woman, I will always appreciate the talking to women :)
sandyleewhite very well said Sandy. My thoughts exactly. I still love Barry. Fabulous fabulous fabulous. They seemed to understand women so well. I put it down to the way they were raised.
Just glad I finally came across such GREAT music! And that so true... the use of his vibrato while in falsetto... not sure I can come across someone who does it quite like Barry. MAYBE Prince. Definitely going to be reacting to more Bee Gees and thank you so much for watching! 😊
Its heartbreaking cause Berry is the oldest brother and all 3 of his little brother's have passed away. He's the only one left...but the BEE GEES were the one of the best back in the day. Not just Disco, but R&B.
There was a 3rd younger brother? I thought there were only these two (on each side of Barry), and a sister. Anyway, yes, very sad indeed. In case no one else has mentioned it, B.G. = "Brothers Gibb" = BeeGees. I do feel that it's likely that, live or not here, studio vocals were added afterward, that is, this taping of the singing of the song with orchestra was live in a studio sense, but I wonder if it was not put onto the airways only after additional vocals were added. Just wondering! Maybe not at all. EDIT: Yes! Andy, Maurice, & Robin. Wow.
@@fingling8 The third brother was Andy Gibb who was also a singer that Barry wrote for. Died young because of drugs. Surprised you don't know that. Not as famous as the beegees but pretty famous himself.
Barry , in the middle, is the oldest of four brothers. The other two in this group, The Bee Gees, are twins, Robin in the left and Maurice (pronounced like Morris) on the right. They have written more number one songs than almost anyone else in the industry, and they have written tons of songs for other singers. The youngest brother, Andy, had a short but successful solo career before his death at the age of 30. Sadly, Barry is the only one still living, even though he’s the oldest. They are one of the best groups of all time in my opinion, and their harmonies can’t be beat.
Barry Gibb was the founding member of the Bee Gees. He is the one with the falsetto voice. His 2 brothers joined him. That had many mega hits in the late 70's
Barry, Robin, Maurice and Andy's children are singing also.. They had some of the best songs from 50's to today .. Barry is still singing... I first heard the Bee Gees back in 1972.. I was 11 and I still listen to their music today... Don't go anywhere without it...
Their family was very poor and when their dad discovered they could sing, he started pushing them to perform when they were only children. Their earlier songs didn't make use of falsetto, they started that around the mid 70s. I don't think anyone does it better, Barry's falsetto is just off the chain.
kwanshiyin very important to note, as Barry Gibb says, they wanted to sing and perform. Barry is the one that talked his brothers into singing with him.
@@trudyjoejenkins9357 That is true, but a big part of why they wanted to sing and perform was to create another reality from the one in which they moved every few weeks to stay ahead of the bailiffs and shoplifted for food. They had no friends their own age, they were always performing. They were aged 9 (Barry) and 6 (the twins) at their first performance and dropped out of school at 15 and 13 to perform full time.
Can never get too much of the Bee Gees , all wonderfully talented & soul bonded brothers ! So sad for Barry who misses his 3 brothers . RIP Robyn, Maurice & Andy , concerts in heaven now 😇🥰
Yes recorded live in 1977, such a talented family of three brothers from the UK. Barry in the middle is 3 years older than Maurice and Robin who are twins. They sold over 120 million records worldwide and wrote all their own songs, They wrote some big hits for other singers as well.
I am lucky to be old enough that I slow danced to that song when it was current and crushing the charts. It seems that they wrote songs like this one just for me so I could hold my girl close and dance forever into the night...
Yes , these are brothers and they had one more that died too soon, Andy. He also sang some great songs alone and accompanied these three in some . So glad you are reacting to them. Love it!
First heard the Bee Gees in the 70s and became a big fan. Since then have learned to love their music from all decades....'50s to the 2000s. Nobody can match their writing skills and harmony.
I first heard too much heaven when I was in elementary school walking pass a record store. I didn't own a stereo player then but I went into the store and asked for the price of that bee gees cassette tape and saved up to finally bought it. I was so proud to own that tape.
They're brothers and they have a similar timbre to their voices that only brothers and sisters have, I think. They're great and began singing as little kids. Born in Britain but raised in Australia. The lead singer was scalded as a little boy of two, almost died. One each side of him are his fraternal twin brothers.
They are brothers! You're right that their sound is alot like the Isley Brothers, Stylistics, Four Tops, etc....! We were lucky to have such great music in the 70's.
I've been listening to the Bee Gees for 40 years. These guys are FIYA!!! Saw them in concert, and all I can say is, they helped create my 2 kids....💯💯💯😂😂😂
I first heard this in 1978 when it was released. I was 16 years old but I wasn't a Bee Gees fan as I wasn't into this kind of music at the time. Now looking back I can really appreciate it. These days I just like good music and good musicians and these guys were extroadinary vocalists and musicians.
Love the Bee Gees, the brothers Gibb, grew up listening to their music. They have had hits from the 60's onwards, massive in the 70's disco era. One of my all time favourite bands. They were born on The Isle of Man, a tiny island off England, the family moved to Manchester, England for a few years then emigrated to Australia. Beautiful voices. Thanks very much, p.s. stay safe in these awful times
3 brothers just began "organically" harmonizing at about 6 (twins) and 9 (Barry) in Manchester England, then Australia, then back to England, then to U.S. Barry only one still living, Maurice died in 2003 and Robin in 2012. Phenomenal harmonies! Amazing career! Fabulous music! Barry Gibb and Paul McCartney are top two song writers in Guiness World Records!
The brothers Gibb. They dominated music in the mid to late 70's. They have a lot of great songs. The one in the middle is the oldest and the only one alive. Nice reaction by the way. Songs were like love letters..very good!
@@patl4416 I said they were dominating in the 70's. That's all you heard on the radio until you couldn't take it no more. Then they wrote a lot of hits for other people.
This song was one of many by many artists recorded on an album for UNICEF. The BeeGees not only gave all the royalties from this song to UNICEF. In unprecedented move, they also donated all their copy rights as well. I think I read somewhere that, to date, this song alone has raised over 10 million dollars for UNICEF.
They didn’t use auto tune and their manager said they sing it perfect every time. I was 14 yrs old in the late 60’s. Love them even more now than then ❤️
I watched an interview on RUclips not long ago where Barry was being interviewed by Piers Morgan. He wrote 3 #1 hits in one afternoon back in 1979. Too Much Heaven, Tragedy (you should really give this one a listen!), and Shadow Dancing that his youngest brother Andy Gibb performed. Sadly Andy was the first brother to pass, and now Barry is the only one that remains. I grew up with their music. Such phenomenal talents!!!!!
They wrote Islands in the Stream, a chart topper for Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. RIP Andy, Maurice, and Robin. Barry continues to record to this day, poor guy.
This song was donated to Unicef, went to #1 and all proceeds went to Unicef. This is a real beautiful family. Barry, lead singer and his younger twin brothers Maurice and Robin. They were incredible. They didn't read music but could get a rhythm down and write lyrics in no time flat. Many #1 hits. ❤❤❤❤❤
The Bee Gees were and will always be my favorite group. They sang for over four decades. I'm 62. I grew up listening to them. I had a huge crush for Robin on the left. I loved your reaction to The Bee Gees ‘To Much Heaven’ such a beautiful song! I loved everything you said about The Bee Gees I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful reaction. Btw I did subscribe to your channel, you’re awesome! ❤️
Three brothers Barry, Maurice, and Robin Gibb. One of the best groups to ever come out of Australia! They did the sound tract for the movie that made John Travolta famous Staying Alive. One of the greatest.
The first time I really started to like the Bee Gees was in 1997 when 'Alone' was released as single. That song made me fall in love with their music and I've been a fan ever since. But the first song I particularly could remember (before being a fan) was 'Spicks and Specks' and not knowing it was the Bee Gees. The melody was back then constantly in my head since childhood, but I can't remember where and when it happened. After I found out it was the Bee Gees it immediately made sense why it was stuck in my head all the time.
I've been watching reactions for a while, and I believe I have found my favorite. Love your comments. So far, clean and respectful. Thank you for that. I was still in the pigtail, boys are gross stage in life when the BeeGees was a big hit, but it never failed to have their music, along with Barry Gibb (younger brother) playing at every football dance. Their live music was no different. They were huge hits during the Disco era. Ask John Travolta, haha.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I try to make it enjoyable for all who take the time to watch them lol I see I gotta dive into more disco music! I truly appreciate you so much. 🙏🏾
Omg The Bee Gees were one of the most popular groups back in my high school years . To this day I listen to them basically every single day. They had hit after hit and some of the most beautiful harmonies to this day.
They are brothers. They had a young brother Andy who was also a singer on his own but he passed away quit a while back. Barry in the middle is the only one still alive. Have you heard of John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever well the music was The Bee Gees they have written and produced music for a lot of people
I'm JUST now making the connection in my mind lol That was their song on SNF! I watched the movie so long ago as a kid that it never really registered! Lol
Yes; because of that soundtrack album the Bee Gees are often perceived as a disco group...when they were really so much more than that. Deep, wonderful rabbit hole this will be for you...
Been listening to them since before I was a teen. I’m 52 and the first time I heard this song was in my best friends basement, he was 13, I was 12, he lived next door. We danced to this song over and over and over. Still my very fav BeeGees song, and he plays it for me quite often. Our lives took different paths over the years but we reconnected about 3 years ago and are still best friends. ❤️
The group name, “The BeeGees”, stands for “The Brothers Gibb”. They are Barry, Maurice and Robin. They also had another brother, Andy, who had a solo singing career. As others have mentioned, the only one still living is Barry. I saw them play live when I was a teenager in the early 70’s, before their turn to disco. It was one of the most memorable concerts of my life, and there have been many. Their earlier stuff is even better than this. Fanny, be tender with my love I Started A Joke Lonely Days How do you mend a broken heart?
I first heard that song in 1979 at my grandmothers house in Summerside P.E.I Canada...I was 9 years old . My grandmother loved that song and played it over and over on the turn table and so consequently it takes me back to a very happy time as a child.
And oh yes they really sang that good , my sister was blessed to get to see them in concert . I was about sixteen when I first heard them . I’m now sixty five and still am in love with them .
They are brothers. Barry, Morice, and Robin. Mo and Robin are twins. The 3 brothers realized they had something special during childhood, and began singing together at a tender age of 9. Bee Gee's is short for brothers Gibb...after starting their young carreer with other group names. Mo and Robin are passed..RIP. Theres a 4th younger brother, Andy, who also sang as a solo artist, and Andy is also passed..RIP. 👍 ~Marz
First time watching your channel, you drew me in with this one. Love, love, love the Bee Gees. They were so much more than "disco". You have another new subscriber...
I love all these reaction videos to "Too Much Heaven". The production on this song is impeccable. They were under ENORMOUS pressure to follow-up the massive success of Saturday Night Fever, so they spent almost the entire year of 1978 in the studio. For "Too Much Heaven", they recorded the harmonies 9 separate times at different ranges (falsetto being the most pronounced in the mix) which produced 27 voices in the harmony.
I agree with your comment their harmonizing sounds like one voice. I've been in awe of how much their voices and range is so similar that anyone of them could sing lead.
They had hits before disco that sound so much different than what you just listened to.I don't think Barry was always the lead singer on them either. Massachusetts is one of them.
I was in my 4th foster home right before I got adopted .. Music has always gotten me through some really rough times and it always puts a smile on my face to this day...
Sirje Raagmets This is so entertaining! Interesting seeing Barry performing with a singer, songwriter and musician whom he idolized and to see some of his versatility as an artist.
The BeeGees (brothers Gibb) harmony is impeccable. It should be, they have been singing together professionally since the late 50's. There was also a younger brother named Andy Gibb who had a great solo career. But, Andy died in 1988 at the age of 30. RIP Robin, Maurice and Andy. We miss you.
Oh, yeah - and "How can you mend a broken heart" -when this was done live, the female fans went NUTS! ruclips.net/video/frA2K5oqm54/видео.html (Maurice is clowning a bit on this live version - which I loved!)
@@NJDulaney Last news I heard about it, the proceeds from this song netted over 10 million dollars! And there were other charities they were involved in as well.
Great reaction The brothers started as kids as someone also mentioned below. They used practice in their room with cans on top of brushes so they looked like microphones. Barry tells the story of their parents coming home and hearing music from upstairs. The grandparents were looking after them at the time and the parents said "Oh is the radio on" The grandparents said "No it is your boys singing in their room". Barry must have been about 9 and the twins Robin and Maurice about 6. Shortly after in 1955 in Manchester they had their first stage appearance in a local movie theater were kids could go up and sing in the breaks. Their last studio album came out in 2001. The only one still alive is Barry and he is now 73, and due to release an album in 2020 if the crisis permit it. The last he made was in 2016. From this album "In The Now" you could react to either "Home Truth Song" or maybe "End Of The Rainbow" which was a song he wrote for his brother Robin and introduced it to him while he was in coma shortly befor he died. Barry is certain the Robin was aware that he sang it for him eventhough he was as said in a coma.
I stumbled into your channel because of the Bee Gees, I always have chills the whole time they are singing. The harmonies are so incredible and I love the strings. I hope you listen to more of their songs because they have a lot of "perfect" songs. God Bless.
The Bee Gee's originated from England, came to Australia & settled in Queensland Brisbane area. My mother attended the same high school as the Bee Gee's brothers & would always speak of them & played their music to us whilst growing up. Cherished moments indeed ❤
When I was a kid, and this came out, it was socially unacceptable in my group to like the Bee Gees, but this was a guilty pleasure. I was about 14 I believe and in the backseat of my moms car and it came on the radio. I knew exactly who it was because how could you not and was repulsed but by the end of the first chorus I must admit it had already grown on me.
This was live one-take. no auto-tune, auto pitch. just pure talent.

I loved your reaction to The Bee Gees ‘To Much Heaven’ such a beautiful song! I loved everything you said about The Bee Gees I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful reaction. Btw I did subscribe to your channel, you’re awesome! ❤️
Thank you so much for the kind words Evelyn!
Alone is their best song imo
@@johannesvonsaaz3987 Give a listen to the song The Only Love. It's pretty doggone good too. But I do love Alone.
@@katie-didellis2437 thanks babe will do 😉
I listen to the brothers every day,I'm 79 now - to me they were perfection .their writing & singing went on for decades.MORE Please.xx
@@abovetheinfluence9361 you are very welcome.
Omg The Bee Gees were one of the most popular groups back in my high school years . To this day I listen to them basically every single day. They had hit after hit and some of the most beautiful harmonies to this day.
Never underestimate a great tenor!
Especially it’s live...i first heard it in 7th grade and actually caused to learn to 2 step better... one of the smoothest ballads
Lol
Yes the actually wrote a lot of the songs for the movie like If I can’t have you, More than a woman, Night Fever and Stayin Alive
Are they brothers? Lol.. baiting naive white people for likes and comments!
Fanny, be tender with my love
I Started A Joke
Lonely Days
How do you mend a broken heart?
Fanny be tender.. Oh yes what a tune 😎👍
@@jimbobber758 They went Motown on that one! LOVE how they all start Whooping it up towards the ending with their voices over-lapping!!😉
I first heard that song in 1979 at my grandmothers house in Summerside P.E.I Canada...I was 9 years old . My grandmother loved that song and played it over and over on the turn table and so consequently it takes me back to a very happy time as a child.
Brothers and singing since they were babies together
X 🙏 you’re a little beautiful too 🤣💖👍
I appreciate the compliment! Made my day! 😊
And oh yes they really sang that good , my sister was blessed to get to see them in concert . I was about sixteen when I first heard them . I’m now sixty five and still am in love with them .
Brothers, starting harmonizing at like 6 and 9, and their mother thought it was the radio :)
They also sang in clubs in Australia to support their family when they were preteens.
The mother was a singer. Was in the dna. All 5 children could sing.
👍 ~Marz
"back when love music was like love letters"...Preach !!!
Back when songs were actually about love and not sex.
First time watching your channel, you drew me in with this one. Love, love, love the Bee Gees. They were so much more than "disco". You have another new subscriber...
Try some of their older music like Massachusetts
. With Robin on lead vocal... Watch the Talk show with Michael Parkinson
Check out Jive Talking by the Bee Gees. Enjoy my friend.
A perfect reaction for a perfect song. Well, I first listened BG at age of 11 at 1978
They wrote the soundtrack to Saturday night fever in one weekend if I remember correctly.
First heard the Bee Gees during that era. I was 10 or 11. It took years for me
to appreciate them.
A friend of mine told me he doesnt like Bee Gees. I was about to smack him right in the face.
Vikotnick
🤣😂
I feel the same way 😂
You should Laugh In His Face instead...the Bee Gees had a song called "I Laugh In Your Face"... :-)
Just get him a new battery for his hearing aid.
Make him watch Saturday night fever
They are brothers and they’ve been performing since they were kids. You can find videos of them as preteens performing on Australian tv.
Enjoyed your review, a smidgen less talking and a bit more listening to the music. Thank you for reacting to 70's.
I was in my 4th foster home right before I got adopted .. Music has always gotten me through some really rough times and it always puts a smile on my face to this day...
One of the Greatest voices ever Roy Orbison Please react to his song It's Over. The man has a 3 octave voice.
Barry Gibb wrote with Roy and L.Gatlin and sang together Indian Summer ruclips.net/video/r1o666F27JM/видео.html
Adding it to the list now! lol Thanks for the recommendation!
@@abovetheinfluence9361 Look forward to it! :)
There will never be another group like them! Back when music had heart and made you smile!
And there Youngest Brother was also a great star who died young... He was Andy Gibb...
The "Brothers"
The Bee Gees one of my all time favorite groups. Never get tired of hearing those voices. Like an evening cool breeze .
I know I’ve said a lot but love them. Anyway every dime of the money this song made went to UNICEF, a children’s charity.
Trudy Joe Jenkins
Did you see the UNICEF concert that had among others Rod Stewart, Earth Wind and Fire, Abba...
chesspix I will have to look at that
It was also a #1 hit so made lots of money.
That's INCREDIBLE honorable of them! ❤️
@@NJDulaney Last news I heard about it, the proceeds from this song netted over 10 million dollars! And there were other charities they were involved in as well.
Great reaction
The brothers started as kids as someone also mentioned below.
They used practice in their room with cans on top of brushes so they looked like microphones.
Barry tells the story of their parents coming home and hearing music from upstairs. The grandparents were looking after them at the time and the parents said "Oh is the radio on"
The grandparents said "No it is your boys singing in their room".
Try their “Fanny (Be Tender with My Love)”.
I stumbled into your channel because of the Bee Gees, I always have chills the whole time they are singing. The harmonies are so incredible and I love the strings. I hope you listen to more of their songs because they have a lot of "perfect" songs. God Bless.
They are brothers. Actually the 2 on the outside are twins. Been singing together since the 60's
they started in 1958
@@richardleaneagh4274 well excuse me for missing it by 2 years.......I'm sure you had to Google that......I was just going off my personal knowledge
@@jackcoberly2705 sorry habit have a brother who retired from working at a school just loved the early stuff the did
The Bee Gee's originated from England, came to Australia & settled in Queensland Brisbane area. My mother attended the same high school as the Bee Gee's brothers & would always speak of them & played their music to us whilst growing up. Cherished moments indeed ❤
Special memories!
They are brothers
From Australia. They have been this perfect since the 60's. They are incredible. Only one left alive now. There were 4 of them.
