I think one of the most disgusting messages was the fact they tried to portray Onestar killing Darktail as a noble sacrifice like Bristlefrost killing Ashfur. The set up, the writing, the Onestar thinking of all his family and feeling happiness and warmth as he died- THEY BLATANTLY RIPPED OFF THEIR OWN ENDING. However the two situations aren’t even comparable. While Onestar hid and cowered his entire life in fear of Darktail and the consequences of his actions, Bristlefrost realized her mistakes and worked tirelessly to repair them immediately. When she saw her friend was in danger, she didn’t have a second thought before running in to save him without a single concern for herself. Onestar would rather save his own pelt then even attempt to help anyone. Bristlefrost drowning Ashfur was truly the ultimate sacrafice of love and compassion pushed on a cat far too young, then given a permadeath. Onestar drowning Darktail was just him barely managing to finally atone for his sins and make his pathetic life worth something. I can genuinely say this was the worst Warriors book since SH, but this was one of the more egregiously tilting things.

Plus there was something really special about Bristlefrost drowning happy, thinking about her loved ones, in dark forest water that were specifically described multiple time as absorbing all hapinness from you. There was so much still waiting for her, and she sacrificed it not to make up for a mistake, but because it was the right thing to do.

Exactly! What a hypocrite. He'd probably go as far as trying to keep a single whisker or even hair over ACTUALLY being decent and actually raising the son he had. Oh but if it's "his" precious Whitetail it's the end of the world.
He literally goes doing all of the horrible things he's done then expects the love of everyone. Ngl he kinda reminds of Clear Sky when he does that.

He pushed Firestar, one of his friends, away, creepily falls in love with HIS OWN APPRENTICE and has KITS with her, then goes after another she-cat, has a kit with her, then just leaves her.

I though with all the hate from the one chapter maybe they would think about re writing it maybe scrap the writing and post pone the arrival date. BUT NOOOO, they need new writers. I love warrior cats to be honest but there newer books are losing what I feel in love with in warrior cats, I think it time The Erin hunters hand over the warrior cats book to someone who can give it back the warrior spark. the line about atonement is so hollow when you think about a cat like juniperclaw, who died in an incredibly similar way to onestar- drowning -to atone for what he did, and was denied a place in starclan, and then talked down to *by* onestar himself afterwards. juniperclaw's own father died because of onestar's negligence! yet juniperclaw gets sent to cat hell being told "you shouldn't have done it in the first place, it's no good being sorry" while onestar gets a free pass. starclan is utterly corrupt.

How does warrior cats continuously manage to pump out inherently abusive, toxic relationships and plot points? Like how have they NOT realized what they are doing wrong and tried t9 fix it. How have they NOT realized the amount of toxicity and hate that they promote. Squilf and Bramble’s relationship (tho debated) being relationship, literally how all of ThunderClan BASHED squilf (and we all know it’s cuz she was a she-cat), The way they claim Frecklewish deserved to be in the dark forest with little to no book evidence and the other, male, cats involved with WAY MORE POWER over the situation than Fredklewish get off scott free! AND NOW THIS! It’s genuinely revolting to see how much disgusting content is present in the undertones of these books, and yet NOTHING is done when the fandom points it out. KIDS are reading this stuff and thinking it’s okay, BECAUSE THEY DON’T KNOW ANY BETTER! Honestly. Extremely disappointed with the whole of the writing crew.

Dont forget about the r/niceguy and incel defending when it came to Ashfur and Bumblestripe, while Ashfur was depicted as a villain the Erins did a horrible job of showing that you shouldnt be like Ash or Bumble, and that their actions were not justified even if a girl they liked rejected them. Which led to both girls getting bashed by the fandom for years because the Erins basically taught children that a man is entitled to a woman's affections because he is 'nice' and likes them

It's pretty messed up and confusing for me. Some cats that don't deserve to do to the Dark Forest are in it but Starclan has some really awful cats in it too. Some of them could've been prevented and could've had a good redemption but that never happens. For example, Mapleshade killed because she was kicked out and her kits drowned then her mate left her. It could've been prevented if her mate didn't leave her or maybe her leader should've let the kits stay until they're old enough to travel around. No one even tried to help her.

I feel like 99% of the main female characters' story arc is something to do with a relationship or kits. Almost every major female character I can think of had a relationship/kit problem.
    - Leopardstar had that whole thing with Frogleap and Mosspelt
    - We all know Squirrelflight's Ash/Bramble drama
    - Bluestar got rid of her kits to become deputy
    - Spottedleaf... yeah
    - Yellowfang had that fiasco with Raggedstar
    - Cinderpelt apparently had a crush on Firestar
    - Mapleshade was exiled because of her kits' father
    - Bristlefrost started out with a crush on Stemleaf then (sort of) got with Rootspring
    - Sunbeam was broken up with immediately and now it seems the writers are setting up a Sun X Night plot
Like, we need more female characters who are strong and independent. I'm tired of the whole "She-cat having mate/kit issues" whole thing. I don't mind if they have a mate or kits, but don't make that like a major turning point in their plot. I also am sick of the stereotypical "Soft, kind, sweet, etc" she-cats. Like I want a tough she-cat. But after this book, I doubt we'll ever get a female character like that.

I always hated OneStar for ditching Firestar as a friend and practically stirring xenophobia towards Thunderclan, affecting an already dysfunctional family (NightCloud and CrowFeather's) to the point they fanatically denied Crow had anything to do with his kits from LeafPool despite the obvious...
But this book is a bit much to drive that point across. This book literally say that the Warrior cats society is corrupt, and you can be an abusive, manipulative sociopath, you can still be rewarded, while your victims are reduced to empty shells of their former selves, if they are even given any... Considering these two, which he called "Mates" were female... consider that, as far as I am aware, women write these books. Women wrote SpottedLeaf's Heart, women wrote every book with the new and abusive Bramblestar in it, and women wrote.. everything! This is concerning. I feel like they were trying to paint Onestar in this sympathetic light, trying to show that he really was a good guy who just made bad choices, but instead they showed him to be an even worse cat than we first thought. At this point there are very little redeemable qualities in Onestar. He should have gone to the Dark Forest, especially since there are cats there that were sent to the DF for waaaaaay less. He's selfish, cruel, and cowardly, and he nearly let the Clans be destroyed by the son he abandoned all because he refused to take responsibility for his actions until the very last second. He may have sacrificed himself at the end to stop Darktail, but that doesn't redeem him of all the other horrible things he's done up until that point. One good thing doesn't make up for a life time of bad behavior.

I just realized Onewhisker/One star and Clear Sky both kinda have some similarities.
So both had one son, and both mothers were from outside of the Clans. They both refused to raise their own sons, and they both got love in the end. Clear Sky and Star Flower have their kits, and then Onestar and Whitetail had Heathertail. They're both hypocrites and deadbeats, and they're both creepy. Like Clear Sky literally got together with his own son's ex gf! And Onewhisker got together with his own apprentice! In other words, they both chose mates that were way younger than them. And they both went moping around "regretting" their choices instead of doing something about it! And ofc, they get away with it. Just realized they were both leaders, and pushed away everyone else.
I hope I'm not the only one who's noticed this. Like they "conviently" have pretty much the same story? Why?
Warrior Cats just isn't the same anymore, it's not the story I used to love as a kid. Since I was in the 4th or 5th grade..

Comparing onestar and whitetail to starflower and clearsight is a literal insult to the star x clear ship lmfao
Star flower and clear sight were there for each other, they had similar experiences that they bonded from, starflower ACTUALLY HAD A PERSONALITY OTHER THAN BEING A MATE

Let’s gooo. Another bga video. I definitely agree with your main opinion on this story. I haven’t read onestar’s super edition, and I’m so glad I didn’t. This book really did all the cats dirty, Onestar, whitetail, smoke, and so much more. When I pictured onestar’s super edition it would be so much better. Sadly the Warrior cats story team would not fulfill our request. In addition, I strongly dislike the way they format the she-cats as blanks slates with no personality. This book isn’t Onestar (they shouldn’t have transformed him from Onewhisker to this abomination with a proper execution) and there is no way I can see anyone forgiving him in this book. When I predicted onestar’s super edition I predicted it to be primarily on understanding him as a character, and not even that is explained. The manga was literally the only good thing about this book. I only wish that the writing team would focus on creating better dynamics with characters rather than filler. Thanks Bright Guardian Akira for making this video.
Edit: why couldn’t he have just been Onewhisker? There’s always a pattern of butchering good characters 😔

By the way, Akira didn't point that in the video : but all the Darkkit stuff happened during the first half of the New Prophecy series. Even without the stuff about kittypets in the beginning, there's absolutely no way he could take in Darkkit and Smoke in his starving clan. Your thoughts are exactly mine! Gosh, what a mess. Onestar needed REAL consequences, but it seems like everyone except him took the fall for his horrible actions.
Super messed up for him to relieve himself of blame after seeing how Darktail turns out. Darktail only went after the clans because he abandoned him and his mother, things would've probably turned out better if Onestar didn't make such a mess of that break up.
I also don't really understand why Whitetail would trust him at all after the confession. He abandoned his child at the first inconvenience and contributed to the premature death of his other 2 kits. It kinda sends a bad message about Whitetail, implying their relationship is more legitimate because they're clan cats, and the horrible things Onestar did to his mate and child aren't as bad because Smoke was a kittypet.

She had experience and seniority. She mentored Breezepelt and went on the beaver quest with Dovepaw and other cats. Her being mates with Onestar is the least interesting thing about her. It doesn’t make sense considering characters written similarly to Onestar such as Crowfeather were allowed in the past to make gigantic mistakes and have to go through hell and back to atone for their crimes. By not allowing Onestar to be accountable for his cheating and abandonment of his son, the book took away such a big element from the story that could have won back any of the past respect he had as Onewhisker during the original six books. Now people hate him more than ever and it is seriously a mystery how he is not in the Dark Forest since the book failed to show Onestar show any remorse for his actions, which he pretty much got out of consequence free. 😖

It's like the Bramblestar and Squirrelflight situation: their relationship was abusive, but it's clear that the Erins don't realize it and never meant for it to be that way. That's what lies at the heart of the series' worst problems: bad writing, where the authors have an intention and end up misportraying it in a way that causes it to become really bad and/or completely different from what was intended.

Him serving as a heavily flawed, ambiguous character really helped the story have a lot of much needed balance. He wasn’t just plain awful, but he wasn’t a saint either. I really liked how he was written up until this book came out. At the end of Shattered Sky, he makes a laughable attempt at fixing a lifetime of mistakes, i think we as the readers are supposed to pick up on that he was just a guy that was just an awful person and tried to make up for it when it was way too late. And i think that’s the beauty of his character. Warrior cats has far too many ‘good’ and ‘evil’ characters, and not heavily flawed ones. The story team is now trying to redact all that by clumsy trying to make it seem like all of his actions were justified, when they very obviously aren’t. They’re trying to fix a character that worked really well as a antagonist and flawed character, when he didn’t need to be fixed in the first place. I’m really disappointed, since i really enjoyed how OneStar added some much needed ambiguity to the series.

I would not recommend any of the new books to a young reader. The amount of abusive relationships that are portrayed as healthy is concerning. And now this! Now I can argue that this is between to consenting adults but that gets thrown out because he was her mentor and it takes on a grooming angle. It could have been acceptable if he hadn't had the teacher relationship with her in her formative years.

oh yeah, breezepelt and heathertail are related lol like... more than any of the other pairings lol.
    lemme explain.
onestars's sister is ashfoot, who had a kit with deadfoot(according to the wiki) and they had 1 son, crowfeather.
crowfeather then had 1 kit with nightcloud, breezepelt.
now. onestar and whitetail had heathertail, and heathertail and breezepelt became mates.
so, at the very least, they are cousins. ig windclan's number were so low they became thunderclan in terms of pairings.

Before warrior cats ends I want an arc with a female main.
I want this female to be strong and intelligent (like squirrelflight, hollyleaf, britslefrost, ivpypool etc.) But I want them to have no love interest or questionable morals or family drama.
Not only that but any other main characters (so main that chapters are written from their p.o.v) to not have love interests either.
Give them friends who stick by their side, give them forbidden friendships not forbidden romances!
Make them brave, empowering, males and females being best friends without any hints of romance! Please!
Also Dont make the female characters talk about how they want a family.
For example we could have a forbidden friendship group of males and females (YOU COULD MAKE THEM START AS WARRIORS FOR ONCE) and a few of the non p.o.v characters may have mates they are loyal to in their respective clans but please, for once, FRIENDSHIP

    • @rainbowskystar2740
      @rainbowskystar2740 2 года назад +2

Ehh, I wouldn’t say Whitetail’s character has been ‘ruined’ per se. She just didn’t get any character development. Ruining her character would imply that she’s a worse cat / did something wrong. Maybe, ‘Whitetail deserved better’ would be more fitting? Idk. Honestly, I blame Onestar for this- He seems like the type of cat to reflect about his past and remember nothing about his partner/s except for major moments (the Smoke drama and the… questionable… origins of WhitetailXOnestar.)
Her story definitely could’ve been way better :( I really wish Whitetail and Smoke had the chance to shine in this story. But, self-centered, self-pitying Onestar didn’t give us that.
(Also, I know that technically the authors/editors are the ones writing the storyline, but there’s something oddly poetic about a terrible Onestar Super Edition that makes me feel like HE wrote the book instead-)
Just goes to show how female characters aren’t properly represented in warrior cats :(

The book has all sorts of grammar mistakes, mistakenly calls Onestar “Heathertail” at one point, removes the part of his confession scene where Whitetail claims “our own leader did that!” due to her randomly being his mate (I know her being his mate was retconned a long time ago but them just brushing past that dialogue annoys me anyways), an inner dialogue/thought that was italicised remaining italicised even after the dialogue is over, other grammar mistakes.... like I know books are hard to edit but wtf....?

Which makes Onestar related to her. To put it simply, she’s his brother-in-law’s niece. Because Deadfoot is his brother-in-law and Whitetail is his niece. And another thing. The books just have too much mate drama. Take Crowfeather’s insane love life. He loved Feathertail when he was an apprentice(I think there was a big age gap) and when she died, he settled on Leafpool because she reminded him of Feathertail. That just feels so wrong in my opinion because you should settle on someone for love not because they remind you of an ex or someone. Than there’s the whole thing of them having kits together and having to keep them secret and they have to end the relationship. To prove his loyalty to WindClan, he settles on Nightcloud and they have a very sassy tom together. Breeze pelt is basically Crowfeather as an apprentice his whole life but rider and a ton sassier. I get that the writers want the books to be interesting but having toxic relationships and making the she-cats seem helpless and clueless gets on my nerves. I hate how the toms are written as if they have full control of the she-cat they are mates with.

My books about mongooses, and their conflicts. All female.
Amber: finds out a dreadful secret about mongooses outside of the packs. Se's brave and curious, and becomes Leaf-pack's third leader. She embarks on her journey in life, and all of her life, someone was giving her prophecies and warning about the future. That mongoose turned out to be her late father, who always knew she would do good. Sure, she has some mate conflicts (like Pebble dying and her becoming mates with the once grumpy and heartbroken Summer Sunset) But the plot of Destiny and Clapping Thunder goes beyond that.
Crystal: While she has a loving mate and two pups she cares for, her conflicts focus more on friendship, her pack, and journey to a new home. it was hard for her to leave her sister. Crystal became the first leader of Leaf-pack.
Honeycomb: She is a single mother with two pups, but her pups are grown, and she has a friendship with Crystal.
Cherry: Cherry never had an interest for love. A couple generations after the main villain for books 2, 3 and 4 dies, he becomes the villain once again in book 6, and tries to teach her evil from the Darkplace. But confiding in her grandfather, the senior healer.... well, I'm still thinking on it, I'm only on book 3 xD but she does good!
    Then for villians:
Rain: Not much is known about her, until later when her pup is revealed. Then I have to figure out the rest.
I need more female villains >:/
P.S. I've been developing Amber's character for three years now. I believe she's well written, and she has a Scratch game, and I plan on working with a PC gaming company. I feel like she'll be a great character, and girl-power lead.

Either way written poorly. Fandom is upset it's another mentor and apprentice thing which is care but it only started when they became warriors and it seemed clear since he was with Smoke he didn't consider Whitetail an option as an apprentice unlike Thistle.

Not only is his cruelty and selfishness far worse than some DF cats (most notably Juniperclaw, but I would also make a case for some of the others too), but by doing that they could also have explained many of the poor choices in this book as evidence of Onestar being a bad guy (it still wouldn't be great without the book aknowlaging his flawed reasonng, but at least it'd be something).
