The New Super Edition Is A Mess - Sunny's Spiel | Warriors Analysis

  • This is definitely not an average video, hence the Friday release. When I read this book I was originally planning on just writing up some notes and passing thoughts to put up on my Twitter and Discord as I do for almost every new entry to come out in the Warriors series. However, as I was writing those notes, I kept noticing how repetitive I was and how many of these complaints had been said, by me, several times before. This is a summary and breakdown of the problems with Onestar’s Confession, but it is also in a way my lookback on the negative trends that have been building up both in the last few years and over the entire series’ run. It’s not especially positive; sorry about that. There are parts of this series that I love dearly and I’m not giving up on it but this book is emblematic of all the Warriors trends that don’t just frustrate me, but they, at this point, bore me.

I hate that Darktail was turned into another "born evil, can't change" villain.
It would have been so easy to make Darktail a victim of circumstance. Instead of him killing another cat and attacking a human child to get booted out of their home, the owners could have just abandoned them or died. Then Smoke could manipulate him into thinking it was Onestar's fault.
A Darktail who was raised on the idea of "if only dad had taken us in, I would not have suffered" is so much more interesting than "I am evil and caused my crap situation but it's still dad's fault".

You could kinda interpret it this way with how we don't directly see Dartail growing up. Maybe the kittypet he kills is like the ones that harassed shadowclan, or was sneering and bullying him and he snapped. Maybe the kid was young and dumb and pulling on the poor cat.

I find it funny that StarClan are less bothered with Onestar abandoning his son and more that Leafpool and Squirrelflight broke the code even when their actions were all for the sake of their kits. Who is in charge of this whole "StarClan's judgement" thing? :/
Also, when reading the book, it seemed to me that Onestar was more worried that WindClan would judge him for breaking the code and less the fact that HE ABANDONED HIS SON.

Onestar is the worst Flanderization in the entire series, he went from a really good character to an insecure leader living a facade of hating his best friend for his image to an unsympathetic and selfish jerk. It really is tragic how a well loved character becomes one of the most hated.

If we had a Crow, Breeze, or Heather POV in POT/OOTS then we could see the perspective of a cat living under an increasingly volatile and bitter leader. Instead we just got random moments of him being an ass and then this SE trying to make us care about him.

Talk about how he had to change himself to become a political figurehead. Talk about the gradual process of Onestar growing to hate his former best friend, Firestar. Talk about how being forced into a leadership position last minute affected him, maybe even let him hold some resentment towards Tallstar for that! Talk about how unprepared he was to be a leader. • @Twilidramon
    @Twilidramon 2 года назад +99

Yeah this sums up basically all my problems with the story.
If this story needed to be told, it should've been a novella. That would have forced the authors to actually focus on the new content of Smoke and Darktail and might have even successfully portrayed Onestar as the lying little kitty he is lol. It would have forced the authors not to mess up the old stuff that was already there, because there wouldn't be time for that - there's no consistency when they do this type of story, they're always a huge mess.
Genuinely, it feels like the editors and authors are doing this family tree nonsense out of spite at this point, because how could they not see the Heather/Breeze situation they were making? They made that tree, do they even look at it? Also; Onestar can be Whitetail's mentor without being her mate, but you definitely do not have to point out how she was your apprentice while considering her attractiveness, Onestar. That just does not help you.
The prophecy from the Tribe was genuinely awful. It was not needed, not once OR twice. The one saving grace of this book could have been that it had no prophecy nonsense, that Onestar made his own bed with his own two paws - but no, of course it was all meant to happen... and if it was meant to happen, why even bother with considering Onestar's placement in StarClan to begin with? If it's all set in stone, don't you already know how this is going to go?
There's so much wrong with this story that I'm reconsidering buying a Super Edition that covers any segment of a past series. It's always messy, mishandled, and butchers what little character these cats have. This could've been a story about Onestar being unrepentant for his actions and doing some genuine wrongs right up until consequences hit him in the face. It could've been an exploration of his and Smoke's likely toxic relationship. It could've been an exploration of what makes an innocent kit turn into a manipulative monster.
Y'know what? This should've just been a Darktail story - but they would probably mess that up, too.

As a bigger issue, the Erins are deathly afraid of writing a POV character as morally distasteful. Cats in the gray area (like Blackfoot or Onestar) are treated as victims or simply under bad circumstance.
Do you like Hollyleaf, Breezepelt or Ivypool? Do you wanna see characters choose the wrong path willingly? Well that’s just too bad because Warriors has undergone a hard reboot circa-2016 to make all their books kid-safe and easy for new writers to mass-produce with little prior knowledge of the series!

I legit can't believe they had Smoke die to a monster. Seriously, the bloody obvious choice was to have her drown! Specific attention was drawn to the fact that Darktail preferred to drown his victims, and it was implied that he got that preference from something in his past. They didn't even try to make it some kind of clever red herring like 'oh you like drowning ppl bc that's what happened to your mom?' 'huh? Oh, no. I found out I liked drowning ppl when I fought some loner and drowned them in the stream to win. I liked the sense of power I got from feeling their struggling grow weaker as the water choked their lungs' . Have Smoke drown, and have a young Darktail trying desperately to save her but ultimately fail. That was what I was expecting all the narrative attention towards his M.O. to lead up to. It feels like such a no-brainer that it's infuriating. As a writer myself, I had to just take a moment to process that they gave _Smoke_ a throwaway, hit-by-a-car death. I mean for god's sake, you could have demonstrated how physically strong Darktail was by having someone mention that he's drowned several kittypets in their waterbowls or like a bird bath during his Twoleg place rampage, to show just how little water he needs to be effective

They could have fixed a lot of things easily:
Recon Heatherstar's death in Tallstar's Revenge, another supplemental book, making Onestar peer to Firestar
Making Brushpaw and Melody join a little before Windclan's exile, killing Brushpaw during the battle
Before it, making Onewhisker warrior, leaving behind Brushpaw in his assessment
Onewhisker, freshly new warrior, after the exile had to mentor his peer Whitepaw after her mentor dies(If i were the author i would have made Stagleap her mentor), who isn't really happy to be trained by such fresh warrior, even if she is close to end her training
Of course they could have made Onewhisker and Smoke bond during tbp, until he get gorsepaw as an apprentice and they start to hanging out like much less to the point he didn't saw her for weeks
After gorsepaw dies, he get depressed and kinda started to resent warriors life, so Smoke ask him to join her. He kinda likes the idea but say no, that whatever happens, he has a duty
Whitetail and Onewhisker meanwhile bond as friends. Whitetail really loves kittens and help queens even if she doesn't have kits
New prophecy, they all starve and many kits die. Smoke sneak close inside windclan territory, even if Onewhisker told her not to because warriors are very mean toward outsiders, this proving smoke, despite being a nice and smart cat, isn't made for clan life at all, but not because she is a kittypet
Onewhisker and Smoke discuss, he denies her to enter, both because he is afraid of her to die and also he is embarassed of his forbidden relationship with her, as he is getting very popular within his clanmates after being a bit off after gorsepaw's death
After Onewhisker denying smoke and then also Darkkit to join the clans, while at ravenpaw and barley's barn, i would have made him going back to the twoleg place to see if Smoke would have been abandoned like she said, and he goes there with Whitetail, who he tells about their relationship, but not about Darkkit. From the window of the twoleg's place he see that new owners are kind, treating both smoke and Darkkit well. Whitetail push him to tell her they are leaving, but he does the mistake to not afraid that if she(they) saw him, she would have joined anyway, even if all her fears about being abandoned were untrue
So whitetail knows he had a relationship with smoke, but not about Darkkit
Also i would have made harespring also his son because making him deputy, despite being a dark forest trainee, because he didn't trust many cats in his own clan would have been interesting
There were many ways to fix this mess, they decided for the worst! But at least his characterization was very good and I loved when he was paranoid about darktail in the last chapters

Ouch! Apply cold water to burn. It would’ve been funny if you took out the spoiler countdown too, as well, nobody cares about spoilers if the book is a mess.
Okay, but on a serious side, we’ve seen enough of Onestar and there is nothing more to do with this guy. A good guy until he got all paranoid with Mudclaw, became bad, and f-ed the clans one last time until he died. It would’ve been much better off if we got a Darktail Super Edition, Darktail’s Hatred or something. We could’ve seen an unexplored relationship, Smoke and Darktail (dude barely talked about his mom in VoS), against an underutilized background, Twolegplace. You know how much the Warriors fans want to see books about other groups/places aside from the main lake / forest territories, the positive reception to the super editions, the positive reception to Graystripe’s Vow and Warriorclan being examples of this. Super Editions / novellas / mangas started out as a way for the authors to tell us about implied or untold events of the main warriors storyline, and it’s a little sad that they’re kinda moving away from that, and more towards known events from a different point of view.
And my friend, Deadfoot kinda has a twisted paw that kinda affects his running. Makes sense he’d be the guy to talk about catching rabbits in other ways.

The main problem with this book is that they had to cover FIVE ENTIRE ARCS in the span of a single super edition. And then they skipped over all Onestar's most notable appearances like with Firestar, his exile, his exclusion from the Clans, and Darktail. Also I think I've read somewhere Darktail made it to the Dark Forest because he spent so much time with the Clans and/or knew very well how they functioned.
They should have made that StarClan made Onestar tell all of them of his life and afterwards, they have him say what he thinks will happen to him. Onestars thinks he's going to the Dark Forest but StarClan says he was going to, but he redeemed himself by sacrificing himself and killing Darktail.

Small notes on how I'd change the book if I had the power. First off, scrap the whole thing. Ashfoot and Morningflower are no longer related to Onestar. Whitetail and Onestar are friends from apprenticehood and they train together, their relationship growing naturally. I'll keep Brushpaw (cause I liked him), Melody, and Bailey. They'd still leave the clans the same way they do in books, and Onestar sneaks into twoleg place with the rest of the apprentices, Onestar meets Smoke and becomes close to her. Brushpaw gets his warrior name, Brushthorn, and is sitting his warriors vigil when Shadowclan attacks WindClan camp. Before Brushthorn can call the alarm and wake the clan, he is killed. Bailey flees WindClan with a few kits, fleeing for the twoleg place. (Some of the clan gets separated during the ambush) small timeskip for the clan settling in in the tunnels, onestar hunts and defends his clan the morning before Fire and Gray come to bring them home when Whitetail, and Ashfoot pull him into a conversation about Brushthorn's death. Could lead into a conversation of kittypets can be warriors, but if StarClan allowed Brushthorn to get killed during his vigil, they mustn't approve of kittypet warriors. Tallstar breaks this conversation up, stating that was all bad luck and if the young warriors had nothing better to do they could go hunting or make sure the area was safe. That night Fire and Gray come and help windclan back to the forest. Add in more Firestar and Onestar interactions, Gorsepaw is Onestar's first apprentice and we see some training between the two of them. We see brief flashes of Gorse's death, Tiger's alliance with BloodClan, and the twolegs encroaching on clan territory. (Skipping most of the new prophecy cause there was too much of that. Yes it was important to Onestar's life, but we can scrap a lot of it.) Before the clans leave, Smoke searches out for Onestar and tells him she's pregnant. Whitetail overhears their conversation, leading into a very rocky relationship when they head towards the lake. Onestar never meets Darktail after he's born. The next morning the clans leave the territory, and Onestar tells Smoke before they leave that starclan doesn't approve of kittypet warriors, look at how Brushthorn died on the night of his warrior vigil. She doesn't buy it, knowing about Firestar, leading into an argument between onestar and smoke. She ends up getting upset and making the vow of making her kit hate the clans. Now we get a timeskip, and we get to Tallstar's death and Mudclaw's issues. While Onestar leads the clan as Onewhisker, he overhears his clanmates saying things about Onewhisker's relationship with Firestar and ThunderClan. This is the beginning of Onestar's decent into being focused on WindClan's survival. He vows to be less dependent on ThunderClan. More brief moments in Onestar's life, the badger attack against ThunderClan, the constant visits from Firestar and Onestar's growing irritation towards the ThunderClan leader and their involvement in WindClan, and the gathering that builds up to the eclipse battle. Have a chapter or two on the eclipse battle and how Onestar plans the attack on ThunderClan. Have moments from Po3 and OotS to flesh out more of his decent into madness. Then get to Darktail's arrival, Onestar hears him announce the infamous words to not only Onestar but all clans. This leads into rocky leadership with WindClan, some cats begin questioning Onestar's leadership and it explains Kestrelflight going against his word on denying herbs. Onestar is losing his clan's respect, and this includes his mate, Whitetail, and his kit's respect as well. We get the AVoS pov for Onestar and it leads into his death. From there he and Darktail have the Squirrelflight and Leafpool version of a trial. StarClan decide that Onestar barely made it into StarClan, as he had attoned during the rocky leadership eith his clan. Tallstar lectures him.on the mistakes he made in life, and Onestar is very ashamed. The news of Onestar's acceptance into StarClan causes Darktail to attack him during the trial. They fight once more, StarClan breaks it up and Dark is sent to the dark forest, ending the book. The comic stays mostly the same , cause I actually enjoyed that. However, I'd fix Darktail's illustration, the illustrator made him a white tabby in both Tigerheart's shadow and Onestar's confession, which is distracting to me since he's a pure white cat with a black tail and black fur around his eyes.

When you were talking about Onestar's family members, I couldn't help thinking of how... Bad it was. Especially with the siblings... I always imagined Morningflower being his aunt or something in my own personal headcannon. The headcannon I made when I was, like, 13. That took many liberties. That still ended up making more sense than the relationships in this book. (Not saying mine were perfect. They were literally just AUs made by a middle schooler) but jeez. The book probably has... Some... Good parts, but definitely not the familial relationships. It's just honestly funny how a middle schooler came out with more accurate timestamps for an AU than CANON WC did with... Well, canon. (Sorry bout the long comment, writing this at, like, 1:30, lol)

I really wish the whole thing with Smoke was more like: Onewhisker calls himself Onestar to get credence with the kittypets and makes up elaborate stories (as previous material said he did). Smoke falls in love with this idea of him and ends up pregnant. She's stated multiple times that she is thinking of joining the clan (not telling him she's preg) and Onewhisker keeps denying this bc he makes up excuses. Smoke's twolegs abandon her or something similar and she goes to Windclan herself, determined that her One'star' would have to accept her if she announces she's pregnant. Once she gets to WindClan though, everyone is hostile and chases her out despite her crying out she's Onestars mate. Onewhisker won't look at her and flat out denies her. Without any where else to go, she gives birth to her kits and two die, leaving Darktail. She instills in him that the clans hold no love and are simply lying, cheating cats who only want power or to be seen as powerful. She drills in a cat named Onestar is to blame for their suffering in particular. (Tbh i also like the idea of Smoke being a part of broken BloodClan instead of a kittypet, as it would give a reason Tallstar rejects her and she would instill in Darktail stories of the only clan that took care of her and the morals they had, leading him to start the Kin as a mimic of BloodClan)

i haven't read this book myself and don't really intend to, so take this with a grain of salt but the way this seems to handle onestar as a character from what i've heard is.. upsetting to me? because i unironically, genuinely think onestar was actually a good character with solid potential but only in the subtext of areas this book apparently barely touched on at all. he's essentially forced into a last minute leadership position by his leader and his best friend, which he desperately doesn't want, and that puts a massive target on his back due to the fact he can't secure his lives at the moonpool and mudclaw is clearly jealous and aggressive/threatening towards him. he has barely any allies (esp with tallstar dead and firestar back in thunderclan, and after in his eyes, both played the part of putting him in this position in the first place), and is viewed as weak by the people around him. that insecurity and fear turning to desperate bad decisions and bitterness over time is an infinitely more interesting character to me than anything they could pull with just the smoke drama, though they could absolutely complement each other if written well. the fact they'd skip over, yknow, the building of his relationship with firestar, or the drama with brokenstar, or his entire connection with gorsepaw, or the eclipse battle, or apparently ANYTHING that would be interesting or impactful to see from his perspective is just a cherry on the cake. (... obviously not to mention that them canonising him being mates with his apprentice is painfully and extremely inappropriate and kind of a permanent tarnish on his character that's solidly in writing now and not just a weird wiki author statement fact. sigh.)

One part I found weird was when Onestar heard about Violetkit joining the Kin and felt sympathy for her. But then the very next chapter, he's treating her with hostility and wants to kick her out of camp when she comes to him with Tigerheart and their patrol. How I would make that flow more naturally is have Onestar not really care about Violetkit because she's none of WindClan's business. There's other moments like that where it feels like what Onestar was saying didn't line up with what he was thinking. His dialogue was just copy and pasted from previous books to line up the events with no thought to how disconnected it is.

Two things I did actually like about this book was Onestar during the AVOS section. I think his paranoia and aggressiveness is portrayed really well, and her perspective during that section makes you actually sympathize with him.
Also his hatred towards Firestar actually makes sense, and I’m glad they didn’t make up another stupid reason for it. I’m not saying it’s justifiable, but it makes sense. His clan mates don’t believe he is a rightful leader and he keeps leaning on Firestars shoulder. This makes Windclan seem weak, and he needs to keep a motto of “putting his clan first.” He even has a passage about how he wish he had friends

While I agree with most of this, I will say that in this one instance Onestar learning Thunderclan hunting COULD have made sense. If the Erins had any awareness they could have made the scene more about how Deadfoot creates accommodations for himself as a disabled cat in an obviously ableist society. I can imagine with his impairment running after rabbits would be hard, so it makes sense that he could have found ways to compensate for that difference. We don't get a lot of good disabled representation in Warriors and as someone with a disability I think it would be cool for them to show how a disabled character is capable in ways that don't always fit the society they were born into.
Sadly, I don't think the Erins considered this and are solely walking back worldbuilding and taking away the few distinct cultural differences between clans.

They had to skip so much to justify Onestar being in StarClan because they showed his increasing instability and cruelty they wouldn't have been able to call him "not evil".

Onestar was such a huge creep and massive jerk in this book it always annoys me that onewhisker got into starclan after all he did including what he did to shadowclan in thunder and shadow 14:25 that paragraph is so creepy i never have and never will like the idea of mentor and apprentice becoming mates its so creepy and so qrongnon so many levels the mentor is supposed to teach the young cat to serve their clan not become lovers

Thank you for saving me from reading this. This sounds almost like warriors is about to go downhill forever if they don't start something NEW new. I know they are trying but they are tripping over themselves. Tho I would love a book from Jango's POV. Completely separate from the clans

Genuinely, as long as Warriors is published by Harper Collins, things will only get worse; they’re incredibly conservative and as a result we will never get fully nuanced or morally grey characters or LGBTQ+ representation. Everyone who is a “protagonist” has to be morally infallible or “just someone who made some mistakes :(“. It’s why I gave up on actually reading the series and only consume fan content- at least the fans give a crap about what they’re producing.

I think that the whole Whitetail x Onestar thing could have been solved easily if Heathertail were only Onestar's by him raising her with Whitetail. Like, it would have been nice if Whitetail made a similar mistake in forming a relationship with a cat outside of WindClan, only for that tom (be it a cat from another clan or a rogue) to abandon her like Onestar abandoned Smoke and Darktail. He could have seen the distress his former apprentice was in when she confided in her mentor what happened and he agrees to help cover up who the real father is by stepping in as father. Them becoming romantically involved could easily happen after Heatherkit is born, or even not at all other than making appearances so cats don't think too much about the kit's parentage.
Also thank StarClan I wasn't the only one that thought this book was so awkwardly paced. It was bad enough I just couldn't finish reading it with all the weird things being thrown at me and I just felt so defeated when I realized I was only on chapter ten.

I'm honestly going to say the new writers aren't doing much research and basically aren't trying anymore for the one off books like the actual series. I have a feeling their trying to get the books to stop or that they just don't actually care for these characters other than the ones they made.

The authors trying to kill the series... That's a very interesting theory. Them just being sloppy an uncaring is more likely I think, but funny thing is, I don't think they're succeeding either way. From public opinion it seems like they stopped being able to write good books a while ago, however that's not nearly enough to kill the Warriors fandom. I don't know what it would take to actually make people quit Warriors, cause apparently bad writing isn't doing it. Also, at this point the fandom might just decide to completely ignore the new books and write their own in the form of AUs. That is kind-of the direction that the animator/artist segment is moving towards, and Sunnyfall here is taking a shot at improving at least two of the arcs. It would be hilarious though if all the warriors fans came together for a collective "Hey Erins, *this* is how you're supposed to write a book," and produced a complete text

One of the things that always bothered me was how much Onestar changed. Like, I get that people change, but when I see people talking about his later life it's like he's a totally different character. I'm not surprised his super edition is also a mess.

That passage... Dear god... It honestly wouldn't've been that bad if they had left it out. It would've still been awkward and uncomfortable to have them be together but not downright creepy. But once it revealed that he had seen her as nothing more than her former student then developed feelings for her after seeing her like that? Jesus christ that's gross and I draw the line! It's not as bad as warrior cat pedos but it's still needlessly creepy smh

It seems to me that the Hunters themselves do not understand what to do next with the series and what people like in the first arc
It seems to me more and more that they can't even agree on canon between themselves, and they just take all their ideas and try to put them into one plot, which only results in spoiled characters and a pure misunderstanding of why it's needed
My opinion is, the Warriors need a reboot. Deconstructing the series and scrapping the outright crappy ideas of the last few arcs is what the series really needs

fun fact graystripe is related to silverstream if graystripes mother is willowpelt that means his father is whitestorm so that means his grandma is snowfur so his great aunt is bluestar so his great uncle is oakheart and by extension crookedstar is his great uncle so silverstream is his cousin

I first got into the Warriors series when I was 11 years old (I am 20 now) and looking back, I realize how flawed and unorganized these books are. Sure, they inspired some of the greatest roleplays I've ever had in my life and was the idea behind so many OCs I grew attached to, but it's honestly frustrating. I think the series has just been going too long that original plots, ideas, etc. are being forgotten/mixed up. I believe the Erins confessed that they rely on the wiki for information, which means they don't remember much about oh, you know, *their own characters.* It's almost like they don't reread their own books or proofread anything before publishing it and I don't want to give them a hard time because I'm sure there's a lot of pressure to keep this series going BUT I honestly think it should've ended long ago. Onestar's Confession is only piling on confusion as well as making readers uncomfortable for various reasons. While I do enjoy what we've been given for A Starless Clan, I think this series has been dragged out for way too long. I enjoyed this video a lot because I have no interest in buying or reading Onestar's Confession for myself, so analyses like these are always appreciated under those circumstances.

Juniperclaw being denied access to StarClan's hunting grounds is another example of the Warrior ancestors oversight. I do think Onestar could've been more deserving but I think StarClan was right to deem him worthy of forgiveness and wrong to demean Juniperclaw who's history of codebreaking is less severe compared to Onestar's and had also died as a hero in the end.

Honestly, I didn't mind this book all so much. There were things I like, things I didn't like, and some things that I felt were a missed oppurtunity. I do agree however that this book was a mess. It's very clear to me that this book was rushed out to meet a deadline, and I wonder if they released this book because they wanted more time to work on the Riverstar book. I know the website said that this was always meant to be the 2022 super edition, but that really could be them covering their asses. They might have expected Mistystar or Ivypool to win the poll, and were taken aback by the surge of interest in a Riverstar story. To me, this story team excells more at super editions that tie into the main story: Moth Flight's Vision, Hawkwing's Journey, Tigerheart's Shadow, Squirrelflight's Hope (it's a branch novel between AVoS and TBC so it counts), and Greystripe's Vow are all examples of this. Crowfeather's Trial was a unique case where it was a prequel that took place within the scope of the main story, and I believe they did that very well. I haven't read Leopardstar's Honour just yet, but based on what I heard, it shares a lot of the same problems with Onestar's Confession. Honestly, they should just focus on the modern day characters at this point, from DotC's onwards. They didn't have anything to do with Leopardstar, and they spent very little time with Onestar before they killed him off. They don't have the same grasp on these characters that Vicky had, and it shows. Modern day Warriors is still really enjoyable, but despite the many years that has passed, it seems that the editing team has yet to find their proper footing.
Thanks for reading my Ted Talk.

I’ve an AU of Onestar’s confession/ more like a rewrite. Onepaw starts off as a headstrong cat who is inspired by his cousin, Mudclaw, though his empathy keeps him from being the strong cat he wants to be.
Once Melody/Tansypaw and Leo/Brushpaw and Bailey join WindClan, Onepaw brags his stories to Tansypaw, who is especially affectionate with Onepaw (and in this AU, Onepaw is born later without littermates)
Brushpaw dies and Tansypaw is traumatized, though wants to avenge her brother and stays in WindClan, though keeps her name, Melody. Onepaw is made Onewhisker and Bailey earns a new name, Moorwing, Onewhisker and Smoke (y know secret meetings) become mates and Smoke is expecting his kits, though Onewhisker is mates with Melody. Onewhisker (of course) leaves Smoke and Darkkit, lying about his promise, journey, blah blah blah.
Onewhisker is made leader since he’s like Mudclaw, Mudclaw is angered, leads the rebel group, blah blah blah. Melody has Onestar’s kits later, Heatherkit, Harekit, Kestrelkit, and Galekit. Galekit ends up dying and his remaining kits live till adulthood. Later Onestar returns to find out that Smoke died and DarkTAIL is one the loose.
Okay, Onestar is killed and he tells Tallstar he thinks he did good. But Tallstar refuses, saying he was selfish and too strong for his own good. And he is brought to the Dark Forest, later getting revenge to attempt to kill Tallstar, but Crowfeather blocks him, one of the Lights in the Mist, and the gray deputy ends up dying. Onestar teams up with Darktail and makes Mistystar ill, killing her, guiding a badger to kill Reedwhisker, then fish dogs to the Moonpool, killing Curlfeather. Onestar goes for Brightheart next
