I'm so glad I only do gig work part-time. I'm retired and don't care if I make $50 or $500 a week. But I feel bad for the people who hustle on gig apps full time. These companies need to treat people right, but I doubt they ever will.

My husband was deactivated a few minutes after doing the selfie verification yesterday. It's bullshit. They should stop making anyone verify until the bug or glitch or whatever it is is fixed. He was legit but all of the scammers are still going strong. If 1 of their stolen accounts is deactivated they have 20 others to go on. It won't stop them. It just punishes the legit drivers that use this and other gigs as their main source of income.

This is so sad and i feel worse for you since its your only income. I do work a full time job from home in customer service but sparking got me through a rough patch. I got the Dreaded ID verification earlier today but Instead of just doing it I went to settings and logged out completely then logged back in and did the ID verification so far nothings happened but I'm so stressed and worried when I get ready to work in the morning 😢😢 I do this full time 7 days a week... Hopefully everyone who Has been deactivated for no reason will get back up and running...
I was just deactivated last month for no reason. Did a photo identification and it went through. But at the end of my shift it said I was deactivated for no reason. But they tell you to appeal but don’t give you a reason why and no one at customer service know anything. Something Walmart Spark is not telling us.
They know about it. It's a big bug yet instead of turning off the id verification. They still force it onto us. I did the scan on Monday before all this happened. Hopefully they don't randomly force me to scan anymore this week. I'm still on the platform.

I was deactivated 3 months ago. Their website was down and I couldn’t update my car insurance so I did it via phone with customer service (even have the email verification). I was deactivated for supposedly falsifying car insurance information (which I did not). I’ve appealed 4 times and everytime I’ve said I can provide any documentation needed to prove this is a mistake and everytime I get a message saying we stand by our decision.
Mine was similar to this and for no reason and my appeal was denied, recently got reactivated but by the help of a third party organization ( KDTECHZ )
Dashing Across America hasn't been hit yet. So strange, I remember about a year ago similar happened on Uber but people were reactivated in a few days.

I wasn't texting or in a call. The officer could see my screen was dark. I was holding it while driving and that's now against the law. I honestly didn't know. The only thing on my record for 25 yrs. People driving with multiple tickets.
Might be better off not creating an account for the Spark Driver app, since their service is straight up worst, they have customer support who have been failing in general education, and broken English language, their payment is garbage, too much people are used every excuse to be kissing their ass for job security, and even not allowing drivers to bring their passengers to helping deliver their goods to the customers door.
My car is being fixed, so I haven't tried to log in during this mess. But my brother did, and he also got deactivated after verifying his picture. It may well be some kind of low effort purge to combat fraud. I'm still seeing people who work in teams running through the store sharing a cart and a phone against the terms of service. I delivered to a woman who had a team of 4 people get out a car and deliver her groceries the previous time she ordered.

Mine was deactivated as well! The app glitched out in the middle of a 2 person shop. I went to check out and it started glitching on the exit pass! Got out the door, and to the parking lot and app froze and shut down. I reopened it had to do an id check then it gave a thumbs up and crashed again. I opened the app again and I was deactivated in the middle of my delivery! Called support they had to cancel my trip, and do a return for me, told me to appeal it and also they let the security department know, I filed the appeal and two days later now I was told the deactivation is being upheld! I don't understand what is going on! This was my job! Right before rent and bills due! My sister is in the hospital with cancer and I was trying to make my money to get to her in Georgia! Now I don't know what to do!!

I have thought about it, and I think, it might be happening after they make a major update on their AI face recognition software. As ANY AI, it must be re-trained/given time to adapt - literally - to any new parameters it was given, and, as any "child", it makes false identifications, to the left and to the right, until those who are in charge of maintaining it get all its, well... screws properly tightened, so to speak. And, during THAT period - first implementation of an update - until it is straightened out, is when this whole mess happens. That is why when people call driver support during these occurrences - they tell them that they were deactivated by an automated computer. So, it IS, kind of, true that it is not ENTIRELY Spark's fault, but those who make a half-baked update to one of the most crucial systems, with intent to twick-it-as-you-go, later. What they do NOT realize is the impact it has on the lives of THOUSANDS of innocent people, whose ENTIRE LIVELIHOOD depends on it, sometimes. Microsoft used to do it, a while ago - they just started throwing updates out there, without properly testing them, and it started taking living shit out of people's computers, (several years ago), until somebody complained, and those in charge of testing went in and kicked some asses around, and then, it had improved. With this whole AI-thing, the age of which we are entering, one has to be EXTREMELY careful before he releases ANYTHING out into the wild, for it affects COUNTLESS innocent people's lives, if those in charge screw up. Now, the next question is an ethical one. Do they care? I'd like to think that, at least, most of them do. However, we all know that just a few scabbed sheep spoil the entire flock. ... Just saying...
I have a theory I think the only way to combat the scammers is to deactivate all the drivers on the platform but they have to do it bunches because if they deactivate everyone it would be total chaos. They know that only the legit drivers are going to fight for their accounts back and the scammers won't because they know they can't prove it's their accounts. It's so out of control that that's the only way they can do it at this point. Just a theory but to me makes perfect sense.
I don’t see how though. They need the cheap labor with how bad things are economically. The legit drivers deserve to be paid well especially for the value we provide but they also use the Gig Platforms as a lever to lower prices because there’s no laws protecting you when you’re 1099. I get the whole trying to be more efficient and productive but when the experience gets so bad and is where it is now this isn’t even just a tiny pay cut we’re talking about a 35-60% reduction in pay. That is absolutely massive

Don't the drivers have to pick up the deliveries from the stores where there are employees who can check their faces against a photo shown on their screens (and can check an ID if there's something sus)? Wouldn't that be a very easy way to make sure account and person match? It's not like uber eats where the drivers visit any number of random restaurants for pickup...
Spark is going Crazy!!! They threaten to deactivate me because I would not deliver an alcohol batch to a customer the did not have ID and they ask me to try and complete the delivery 3 times!!
They can force complete it just ask the customer to pretend their irate and their gonna have to call the police because they need their groceries for their starving children.
This has literally just happened to me as well I filled a reactivation request but the deactivation was upheld again my metrics are all in the green and I have been professional as far as being on time and delivering everything as requested by customers but was given zero reason why I was deactivated smh sad but idk what to do about it at this time unfortunately there’s no help to fix this issue it seems like. 🤷
And to add about 5 months ago a employee a manager to be exact said that Walmart is fixing to make their own delivery fleet to compete with Amazon and fed ex so I wonder if this is the beginning of them cutting back! Smh

I did the face scan yesterday morning and by mid afternoon I received a notification I was deactivated. I did the appeal process, but don’t have much hope with that.. Spark is giving everyone the same lame excuse for deactivating their accounts
They are in the process of letting only the workers do the deliveries They can’t just cut it off but what they will do is send an email to all the drivers and let them know when our last day will be It’s already happening in several states I was deactivated after my facial recognition but it’s ok I have instacart for almost seven years and I have no problems with instacart and you get all your money and tips the same day

That appeal doesn't work especially if they deactivated your account and the reason given is"a store or customer reported someone else using your account or shared"the pre-arbitration doesn't work..at least for me it hasn't worked..next step requesting an arbitration meet for myself . I've deactivated since 05/02/24

Mine was deactivated on Wednesday night. Did a facial scan. Was told I was good. Went to a store to wait for more offers. And deactivated 3 minutes from the store. After this I submitted that request and got a response 24hrs later as to why. Supposed fraud/account sharing. I do not have more than one account. I had a password issue a few weeks ago. And had a message saying my spark account was on another phone. My old phone that my 5yr old plays on. It was removed from that phone that day. Now I'm in pre-arbitration waiting for my call back. Drove by today and all new cars I didn't recognize at all. I think they cleared us out in my area 😢
I’m sorry this happened to you. The past couple of days, I have had to scan my license and it takes ten minutes for them to approve it. It usually does not accept the absolutely clear photos of my valid license and has to be reviewed.

There is something weird going on with this. I used to see the scammers all day.. I only saw one guy that I swear gets like every single order on the hour for months. I used to notice specifically a Black Acura SUV of one guy that brought people to shop with him.. others have come and gone. For all I know, they are there right now . But I don't know how they do it, nor why this is happening. I find it hard to believe they would be gone but I wouldn't mind it....

It's always a rumor, some places actually do it but the store needs to make a lot of money. It's also really difficult to set up. As a spark driver you basically need the planets to align to actually experience a reasonably productive day and not sit around doing nothing. They are understaffed, most people don't take their jobs seriously and call off all the time. They'll have all those problems to deal with, even if they put a driver in a van and pay them $2 more an hour.
A few days ago it wouldn't let me spark now because it didn't accept the picture of my ID. I loged out of the app and logged back in and it switched to selfie verification a then let me spark now. Have you signed out and then logged back in?
The problem is is they don’t have a number for the technical department. I called the support number no help….chatted several times then first time was told it was a known issue and when I have said that in chats since the…they said do you know the name of the person that told you that…as if he had done something wrong. Very fishy.
Had you ever had to do ID (not selfie) verification before? I have personally never seen the ID verification screen. Due to advice from reddit, I turned the app off until the weekend. If you want some help filing for formal arbitration, I can assist. I have been through that before, but you might have to first wait the 45 days to get pre-arbitration conference.
That's why I would rather multi app whenever you do too much with one app that hides the risk of your ratings being hit people trying to scam saying they didn't get stuff spread it out
They don't have to many drivers using the platform. They have to many fake account users that make up half the platform.... It's sad that the legit drivers are the ones paying the price
Door dash is usually really good at responding and fixing issues... More than I can say about spark. Spark needs to get the reactivation procedure handled.

I have a theory I think the only way to combat the scammers is to deactivate all the drivers on the platform but they have to do it bunches because if they deactivate everyone it would be total chaos. They know that only the legit drivers are going to fight for their accounts back and the scammers won't because they know they can't prove it's their accounts. It's so out of control that that's the only way they can do it at this point. Just a theory but to me makes perfect sense.
I don’t see how though. They need the cheap labor with how bad things are economically. The legit drivers deserve to be paid well especially for the value we provide but they also use the Gig Platforms as a lever to lower prices because there’s no laws protecting you when you’re 1099. I get the whole trying to be more efficient and productive but when the experience gets so bad and is where it is now this isn’t even just a tiny pay cut we’re talking about a 35-60% reduction in pay. That is absolutely massive

Don't the drivers have to pick up the deliveries from the stores where there are employees who can check their faces against a photo shown on their screens (and can check an ID if there's something sus)? Wouldn't that be a very easy way to make sure account and person match? It's not like uber eats where the drivers visit any number of random restaurants for pickup...

Spark is going Crazy!!! They threaten to deactivate me because I would not deliver an alcohol batch to a customer the did not have ID and they ask me to try and complete the delivery 3 times!!
They can force complete it just ask the customer to pretend their irate and their gonna have to call the police because they need their groceries for their starving children.

This has literally just happened to me as well I filled a reactivation request but the deactivation was upheld again my metrics are all in the green and I have been professional as far as being on time and delivering everything as requested by customers but was given zero reason why I was deactivated smh sad but idk what to do about it at this time unfortunately there’s no help to fix this issue it seems like. 🤷
And to add about 5 months ago a employee a manager to be exact said that Walmart is fixing to make their own delivery fleet to compete with Amazon and fed ex so I wonder if this is the beginning of them cutting back! Smh

They are in the process of letting only the workers do the deliveries
They can’t just cut it off but what they will do is send an email to all the drivers and let them know when our last day will be

That appeal doesn't work especially if they deactivated your account and the reason given is"a store or customer reported someone else using your account or shared"the pre-arbitration doesn't work..at least for me it hasn't worked..next step requesting an arbitration meet for myself . I've deactivated since 05/02/24

Mine was deactivated on Wednesday night. Did a facial scan. Was told I was good. Went to a store to wait for more offers. And deactivated 3 minutes from the store. After this I submitted that request and got a response 24hrs later as to why. Supposed fraud/account sharing. I do not have more than one account. I had a password issue a few weeks ago. And had a message saying my spark account was on another phone. My old phone that my 5yr old plays on. It was removed from that phone that day. Now I'm in pre-arbitration waiting for my call back. Drove by today and all new cars I didn't recognize at all. I think they cleared us out in my area 😢

I’m sorry this happened to you. The past couple of days, I have had to scan my license and it takes ten minutes for them to approve it. It usually does not accept the absolutely clear photos of my valid license and has to be reviewed.

There is something weird going on with this. I used to see the scammers all day.. I only saw one guy that I swear gets like every single order on the hour for months. I used to notice specifically a Black Acura SUV of one guy that brought people to shop with him.. others have come and gone. For all I know, they are there right now . But I don't know how they do it, nor why this is happening. I find it hard to believe they would be gone but I wouldn't mind it....

It's always a rumor, some places actually do it but the store needs to make a lot of money. It's also really difficult to set up.
As a spark driver you basically need the planets to align to actually experience a reasonably productive day and not sit around doing nothing. They are understaffed, most people don't take their jobs seriously and call off all the time. They'll have all those problems to deal with, even if they put a driver in a van and pay them $2 more an hour.
A few days ago it wouldn't let me spark now because it didn't accept the picture of my ID. I loged out of the app and logged back in and it switched to selfie verification a then let me spark now. Have you signed out and then logged back in?

I called the support number no help….chatted several times then first time was told it was a known issue and when I have said that in chats since the…they said do you know the name of the person that told you that…as if he had done something wrong. Very fishy.

Had you ever had to do ID (not selfie) verification before? I have personally never seen the ID verification screen. Due to advice from reddit, I turned the app off until the weekend. If you want some help filing for formal arbitration, I can assist. I have been through that before, but you might have to first wait the 45 days to get pre-arbitration conference.

They don't have to many drivers using the platform. They have to many fake account users that make up half the platform.... It's sad that the legit drivers are the ones paying the price
