When I was doing the trick, I only did it IF the order was marked ready and the parking lot was next to empty. If either of those weren’t true I would just wait the normal time. I don’t think the team lead was specifically targeting or blaming me for their wait times because I’m pretty sure there were other drivers abusing the hell out of that method. I didn’t think about customer expectations either until we’ll after I stopped using it. That’s why I wanted to make sure that was in the video 😊
Finnally somebody knows what they are talking about with this exploit. I tried telling so many ppl not to do this. You are completely right about metrics fro. The store not the driver they will blacklist
You select 1 hour blocks when you order. Order says ready. No one's in the parking lot. Get your order early. Everyone gets good metrics. Vs waiting until .45 check in with dozen other people. Get your order in hour. It's a pickle. My brother works at walmart.. straight up told me drivers who cost the store money get deactivated or its behavior 9 times out of 10. As far as metrics go store mangers, district managers will never stop trying to squeeze nuts..
Yeah, it's a pickle. When I performed the trick it was only when the parking lot was empty and the order itself was marked 'ready.' However, I'm friends with the lead over OGP so when we politely asked me to stop, I stopped. I remember those long talks about metrics when I was a manager at walmart.
The average wait time for me is probably 20-30 minutes which is bullshit. I don't take any deliveries under $30 because I know it's going to take an hour from the time I get tot he store to the time I complete the second dropoff (singles that pay more than $15 are very rare). The "general merchandise" routes are a pain because it says "in store pickup" on the app, but then it makes you park in the pickup spot but doesn't ask for your spot number. I have to grab an employee and tell them I'm here and I still end up waiting 20-30 minutes. I've complained to the store managers but they just pivot and say it's a corporate policy.
The zone 45 minutes from me has a bunch of stores and only some of them do in-store pickup. They all say in-store on the app but most of them bring the stuff to your car. They need to label it properly, put up a sign, something. It's a waste of everyone's time for drivers to have to wait, think about it, call and ask.
With dot com orders I usually call as soon as I pull into a parking spot and check in. At least this way it'll get them to put the correct parking spot into their system. USUALLY that's the only problem I have. But every day is different. Some days they bring it right out as if they were waiting for me, other days I have to tap my finger aggressively on top of my car until they finally come out. I've learned just to call and keep calm because getting pissed off at the associates doesn't do any favors to anyone. Also the way the store runs their OGP department is usually what works best for that store with a little influence from the market manager. Dot com and express orders in one market south of me I have to walk into the store to get from these little orange lockers. Stores like my home town and north of me will bring literally everything out. There was a point where you'd have to go to the customer service desk to pick up dot com orders. I hated that one.
@@Ride980 The stores around here don't answer the phone. The only way to get their attention is to grab an employee or wait outside the door. This is a terrible system.
That's really interesting to know, as I was not aware of such a trick.. I don't think it would be useful for me personally, unless I had accepted a good offer and on the way to the pickup, I was delayed getting there like a flat tire or something time consuming and I didn't want to miss out on earning that money! The SPARK App is certainly not perfect and could still use some more improvements, especially when compared to the Lyft and Uber apps...🛠️
What makes me upset is when they say order is ready and its not so we are forced to wait a long time for it. If they stop marking order ready less folks would try to airplane mode to go ahead and pick it up. That being said, i personally dont use it and stores i have to wait too long at i stop picking up at.
He is correct. At two stores that I go to, both managers where outside going car to car telling the drivers to stop using airplane mode or they would start canceling out orders.
I never used airplane early. I always drop off orders early. It says pick up at 4:45 but I need to deliver it by 12:30pm so I’m at very confusing. But then it is already ready.
My walmart is always behind and super slow making pickups a waste of time. Shop and Delivery is great but they turn it off even when they are way behind.
How would Spark know what buttons I've pushed on my phone? I have to restart my phone occasionally while on a gig app, which also momentarily disengaged my phone from connectivity...if this procedure isn't specifically forbidden , and is somehow a contract violation, I don't get it.
I think you are correct, but Walmart has created a real bottleneck, especially on busy days at 7:45 and 8:45 AM. At the two stores I prefer going to, they will try and get your order going early so they can clear parking space and get things moving. I worked for Walmart years ago, and they loved metrics they too LOL. However, they are asking for too many things to happen at one time a buys stores.
Store dependent. My home store and the store south of me are pretty fast and usually have the orders ready to go quite early. However, the stores north of me are slow with large orders due to staffing and missing management. Every store/market is different.

Yeah, you're right. I've done the airplane trick for quite a while now and I've even had Walmart employees tell me that it's fine to show up early but yesterday one of the employees asked me not to do that. So some people at Walmart don't care and some do, just depends who you talk to. I'm going to try not using it for a while and see if things go better. I'm having a lot of tips not show up and lot of orders that the store doesn't even have after I show up and wait for it, or if there is supposed to be two orders, they only have one. Not that those problems are caused by the airplane trick. Their software kinda sucks. imo Anyway, gonna try not using airplane mode this week, and just cherry pick like crazy.
I think when it comes to the airplane mode trick it's more about how the store will react rather than the app itself. While stores don't have a lot of power/control over deliveries, they have enough to block drivers, lol
Amazon hates this to. So if anyone is a Flex driver do not use airplane mode. Dispatch will know. Thanks for the info. What happens if a store is 47mins away and you arrive earlier before pickup is ready. What do you do then?

I gave you a chance. You failed once you told me that you worked for Walmart for 8 years...and then you spoke to the team lead....the guy who has NO FREAKING IDEA about the spark app.
Here's a bit of context for you. I worked at Walmart for 8 years in various positions. At the time of me leaving the company and my position in OGP, the Spark app was not in California and this store was not offering delivery. So I am unsure where I "failed" by mentioning my past job and making the sudden leap to speaking with a team lead. As I said in my video, the airplane mode trick is not against TOS, but stores CAN block you if they do not allow this trick. But hey, thanks for stopping by!
absolutely everyone in my market uses this trick, there is not one person that doesn't so I don't know.. I don't know if the people at my walmart know about the trick, but they understand that this is all I do so they bring my order out first usually.
That's absolutely not true!!??? I love it when people speak for everyone......and know nothing? I've been spark driving off and on over a year and consistently for the past 5 months and I've NEVER USED AIRPLANE MODE......EVER! It's stupid to screw over other people for your benefit, you mess up the workers the system and other drivers! This is how opportunities like this get shut down canceled or dry up because "smart people" always look to get ahead and step on everyone else to "get there bag" for "there family" lol......SMH
In my area, Spark and Flex are the absolute best ways to make money. Uber Eats is non existent, GrubHub is a joke, and Doordash isn't paying well. I'm always open to new app ideas though!
This is a BS video and false information its not up to the app its up to the store.. my store doesn’t care if im 15 minutes early just ask your store and you will be fine.
Spark Delivery Curbside pickup is complete BS for the driver and the customer because they promise the customer the orders will be delivered at 20 mins after the hour on the first order drop off and 45 mins after the hour on the 2nd order to be dropped off. So, you waist 2 hours on 2 customers and can't make enough money to justify doing this and is a complete waste of manpower. If it's busy I could do 3 stack orders an hour that's 6 customers when I delivered for Walmart using doordash because they send the orders to you when they're ready and no waiting. Here's why Sark sucks on Curbside, they send you orders at 20 after the hour then you can't pick up till 40 to 45 mins after the hour so if the order is ready it's sitting there thawing out in the Walmart pickup area for 20 mins then they want you to drop off the first order at 20 mins after the next hour that's another 40 mins then the 2nd order is dropped off at 45 mins after so that's 1 hour and 5 mins the orders have been in your car with one in the trunk plus the 20 mins waiting to be picked up from Walmart. So, if you drop it off early to get back in time for another order the customer complains because you showed up earlier than they were told by Spark and if you wait to drop it off on the times Spark wants you to the food is thawing out if its frozen and the customer still complains and pulls tips and give bad ratings. This is why it's so hard to keep a good customer rating with Spark. Point Pickup and Doordash don't do this. So, until spark fixes this, the curbside pickups are BS for the Drivers and the Customers and will result in loss of customers and drivers. Here's an example. 8:20am, you receive the 2 orders, 8:45am you pick up the order, 9:20 am the first drop off, 9:45 am the second. That's 2 complete waisted hours on 2 customers. Then if they complain and pull the tip and you made just 10 bucks that $5 and hour complete BS. So, if you then decide to jump the gun and drop off early to get back to receive another order eventually Spark will deactivate you because of low customer ratings. I suggest you only deliver if it's Shop and Deliver.
NOT IN AZ, I PICK UP AT THE 30-35 MARK AND HAVE BOTH DONE BY THE 15-20 MARK. SO I GET 2 ORDERS EACH HOUR. I WORK MON-FRI 730-230 OR 3 AND MAKE WELL OVER A 1000 A WEEK.
@@mountainrunner829 we do here also it's the only way to make money but that's not what Spark wants you to do because they tell your customers a set delivery time and eventually when you get enough customers complaints for early drop-offs you'll be deactivated. Look at your drop off times when you get the orders bother orders are late into the next hour after the order times come out for new orders. The earlier you pickup the earlier you're dropping off. All it takes is for a customer to say their food was not there or a dog got it or it was thawed out anything like that and you're done delivering for Spark. You've just got lucky so far. Plus customers will pull tips over this.
@@mountainrunner829 If your customers don't reply they are home you're not supposed to leave unattended. That's also Spark policy all explained to me in detail by Spark Support, so you do you just explaining why this is a problem

@@Ride980 yap but what's yr point, alot of stores are late picking the order so they have to push the order back several hours or next day and they want to complain about u checking in 15mins early?
Am I wrong?
I just called support they said that hack shouldn’t be a reason to deactivate a person I just called them
Then you say that hahaha
FYI, Don’t trust tier1 support support they give a lot of misinformation. Try calling tier2 support that will be option 3.
Same here dude luckily enough i just got mine fixed back with the help of a professional expert! Called Lyft_techz who helped me a lot when i was desperate and i think he can help you too, i suggest you send him a request.

Who cares. Delete that trash app. So many better ways to make money.
In my area, Spark and Flex are the absolute best ways to make money. Uber Eats is non existent, GrubHub is a joke, and Doordash isn't paying well. I'm always open to new app ideas though!
spark is the best
@@ShotgunRebellion IF IM EARLY I ALWAYS MESSAGE THE CUSTOMER. I BASE EVERYTHING OFF OF THEM. COMMUNICATION IS KEY AND IT MAKES THE CUSTOMER'S HAPPY.
@@mountainrunner829 If your customers don't reply they are home you're not supposed to leave unattended. That's also Spark policy all explained to me in detail by Spark Support, so you do you just explaining why this is a problem
