I removed the battery from my Combustion and use the switch as a way to quickly mute the bass. The battery compartment makes for a nice place to keep snacks during a gig.
Weirdest part of Dingwalls to me is the passive and active settings being so well balanced volume wise. I prefer passive, but having the ability to flip a switch to active on the fly is kinda rad.
@@marcphillips7998 they have a production D-Roc which is passive, as an alternative to the Combustion & NG being active. I get the D-Roc shape isn't for everyone though.
they are actually made in china but assembled/final set up in canada iirc, but wish they had an actually affordable version of their stuff since everyone else's "multiscales" either sound like garbaggio or are "fake multiscales", where they have 34-inch scale going down to like 33/32 or something like that. Don't get me started on the Ibanez clones, they all sound horrible, like bad music man clones.
@@WildWildWeasel If I'm not mistaken, the comment was just meaning they wished there was a $2000 Chinese made combustion without an active preamp. Not necessarily a cheaper model entirely. You're correct that all the other cheap-ish multiscales on the market manage to fuck it up somehow, which is funny considering it's not rocket science to figure out the right specs. Massive corporate companies take several years to successfully coattail things like this.
@@thedudeofficial69 Last time I checked the D-Rocs were starting at 1800 but for me that shape is abit too weird, I've already got a modded T-bird bass so I would not want another one at all lol I heard the NG2 and NG3 are at around 2.5k, which is about what a custom Spector goes for nowadays...so maybe. I remember when Dingwall prices were going bonkers and they were selling them at like $7.5k or something like that.
Just to say that... I'm also of those who rather have a passive bass with pedals doing all the 'magic' with the sound. The place I come from a 9V battery is quite expensive for a 'bedroom / garage player'. For more high end basses with passive only systems, at least have the option for that when buying the instrument.
I'm confused by the specs in the video description. Mentions a Darkglass preamp and series/parallel switches, but that does not match this instrument or the video title. Perhaps copied from elsewhere and not edited?
the darkglass preamp is probably copied but the pickup selector switch on 2 pickup dingwalls are a rotary switch (so it looks like a knob) that goes 1 - bridge, 2 - bridge and neck (parallel), 3 - bridge and neck (series), 4 neck. Since it's an ab though, there's a small chance asked for a series/parallel switch on a push-pull for one of the knobs
@@craigmoran893 It's a good Idea, but I don't think I have a store like that around me, especially one that will get in a Dingwall. Thanks for the suggestion though!

that bass finish is sick!
It is!
OUTSTANDING PLAYING!!! AMAZING TONE FOR A PASSIVE!!!! GROWLY, DEFINED AND PUNCHY!!!!
Dude is such a killer bassist ❤
Great bassplayer and beautiful bass 👍
Unreal sound. That really is art, inside and out.
Passive bass still played thru a darkglass amp or sim from the sound of it
Great bass line, tone and playing Werner!!
Sick tone! I miss my NG3 Combustion
that tone is realy amazing!
The @dingwallguitars wenge neck and fingerboard are the bees knees! 👌🐝🦵🏻
that bass sounds amazing
The sweater is the most jaw-dropping part of this video. The bass-related stuff is also quite good.
Nice tone!!!
Awesome!
What pickup blend did he use here. Fantastic tone.

One day I’ll be able to afford one of these custom works of art 😢
Unfortunately it is not sold in Brazil. One day I will have a dingwall, i belive.
Is there a new passiv dingwall for sale???
The myth. The legend.

A passive combustion style/chinese made bass would be amazing.
I really hope they start making passive import versions of their instruments.

That drop A 🔥
As someone who prefers active, this is definitely my favorite passive tone.

How much for that particular bass? Me likey
I gave you this idea. Draw attention to his passive bass. I've been saying this for moths.
Yes, it was your suggestion; thanks so much!
Wow 🤟

Looks like the description has been updated. 👍🏻
I want a made in Korea version of a Dingwall. Something that’s at least 750-800 bucks. They look so cool but I can’t afford one.
Can you find one at a store that does the rent/buy thing? That's how i got my Ng3. Good luck.

If you can afford 800 bucks you can afford an NG if you wait 3x as long to get it. It will be worth it.
What’s the name of this song
ah yes, the lords P bass

Look ma no preamp! Sounds pretty good to me! And it's a LOT more "Eco-Friendly".

Bruh why can’t Sweetwater carry dingwalls 😢

To many active basses! I don’t know how to describe this other than comfortable. It’s everything it needs to be without option paralysis.
This is some gibberish word salad.
A bass has 4 strings.
