Dr Chad, head of automotive neurology.
It was nice to see you, your brother and two of your son's making good progress on the nerve system at Matt's and stopping by Paul's to see what the future project consists of. Your adage at the end sure seems to hold true for your southern friends. As I've said before, keep doing what you are doing and keep growing.
As I continue to follow your channel I realize just how blessed your family is to have one another and work together. You all enhance each other's lives. Great family structure!
Stay safe healthy and happy 👍

It has been years and years since I have tackled any wiring project as extensive as the videos I have watched of you doing the nugget, fab rats Toyota, matts wrecker, and others. I still get into the circuit repairs fairly often, and lots of trailers. I believe my biggest recent challenges have been walking my son through various electrical issues over the phone (he is west central NC while I am a few miles west of the Mississippi River-some 650 miles apart).
I will say it was much simpler for my brain power when I started in the late 70’s. My body fit into places easier as well.

As a locomotive electrician for first DRGW, then merged to become SP, and finally merged to UP, I've been troubleshooting and doing electrical mods on locomotives. The final years of my career (been retired for 9 years now) was as a foreman and then a managerial position with quality controls, tooling, and helping to develop troubleshooting guides. I'm also an avid audiophile having made vacuum tube, solid state equipment, and speaker systems, so with this background, I love seeing the quality work that Chad's group is doing and love seeing Matt's videos since as a native Coloradoan, one of my most visited/favorite areas to explore has been Southern Utah. What an amazing project this wrecker build is!

Hi Matt my name is Jerry I shrimped and fished most of my life and had three commercial shrimp boats seven or eight commercial net boats just thought that I would recommend you considering high test chain or cables as a safety feature on your boom for the heavy wrecker, I believe like you that in most scenarios the dynema or spectra rope that you are using or super line whatever they call it would be sufficient but there will be those instances where the torque will be extreme and cause safety issues unless there is some type of of brace added. On our commercial shrimp boats we use solid steel round bar from the A-frame to the boom, at minimum the thought of adding a couple pad eyes and carrying high test chain which could be quickly attached with shackles when needed would be a good investment. Over time ropes of whatever caliber will deteriorate with heavy use just the thought of having something available to assist them would be a good idea. Love your videos and will continue watching just some thoughts that crossed my mind you guys be safe thanks.

I love how calm Chad is. It's really quite relaxing hearing him describe the process and watching him and the lads work. It looks incredibly complex with so many opportunities for it to wrong. In one of MORR's video Chad was talking about being almost ready to fire up the Heavy Wrecker. There was no doubt, and no language along the lines of 'see if it starts'. So I am also sure it will fire right up and run like a dream.

    EXCELLENT job! Impressive!
@19:40 - If the connector is AMP Superseal, it's IP rating is IP67. Dust proof, and watertight down to 1M (3feet) up until 30 minutes. WAY more than the Heavy Wrecker needs. (It's not a sub) :-)
I've used alot of AMP and Deutsch Connector. The DC I've used have been IP68 (dust proof and permanent submersion).

I've been machining for 26 years and I've found that the best method to use with the least chance of breaking a tap is to use some kind of T handle to prevent accidental side load since they are kind of brittle. I have several sizes of ratcheting ones so you can keep your hand in a consistent alignment. If the material thickness is large enough that not following the drilled hole is a risk I like to use guide blocks with bushings for the drill and tap. Eventually, you end up with a sizeable collection of blocks that significantly reduce your chance of error.

I used to run a lot of wire in telephone central offices (switches) and when we loaded our wiring carts with spools of wire we made sure the the spools on the same level spun in opposite directions. If they all spun in the same direction the lighter spools would sometimes spin too fast and cause a "backlash" that had to be untangled.

More brain surgery - Holy Moses, I could not do all (any?) of that wiring with a gun to my head. This is beyond impressive - this is an art form, and I just sit back with big eyes and watch the experts go! Not only do you have to hook up about 8,000 wires for various things, but you have to put in all those bulkhead connectors and patches that let you *take the cab off* and (more importantly) *put it back on and have it work*. If I sound like an awed little kid, well, yeah - that's where I am. BRAVO, BRAVO! My hat is off, and thank you so much for helping Matt and crew build this beast and make it work properly!

I don’t know how you can keep up with what wire goes to what component, but it truly is wonderful to watch Chad and crew construct the electronics on Matt’s wrecker. I can’t wait to see you do it on Paul’s Rat Rod Wrecker !

It seems like they could use the same schematics just less connectors.

@@donlarsen9807 that’s probably Matt’s fault. He wanted quick disconnect for repairs and maintenance. I’m amazed Chad could come up with a schematic to do it.

@@duffadkins1163 it won't be quick but it will be possible. Disconnect the electrical, brakes, steering and shifter. With a full structural belly pan it may be needed to lift the cab from time to time. Paul's is a totally different platform where he can't lift the cab. Therefore he will not have all of the electrical connection points. It's still a little complicated with all the winches but a cake walk compared to Matt's!

That wiring diagram by itself will be more valuable than the wiring job itself! Thats neat how the 1st recovery of that truck was itself!
