I don't understand why people don't use tire chains! Just one delay Traction problem or even vehicle damage will take up more time effort and money than changing up every time you go out into the snow for a whole season of chaning up. I can chain up all four tires of an off road vehicle in about twenty minutes by my self. I'm 63 years old and have chained up so many times it is impossible to remember. But one thing is a fact
I've never been stuck, stranded, needed assistance. Or failed to reach my destination in the snow.

Yes, chains are wrongly called "snow chains".
      They are really "ice chains".
Chains do not help in snow conditions.
Chains actually are a hindrance in soft snow.
Matt has recently tried a new type of tyre that is fantastic on ice, according to him.
Watch the difference between the Banana, and the Moorvair, which, I think from a later video by Matt, already has the new type of tyre for ice conditions.

We just opt to have a dedicated rig chained up for situations like this. Maybe at least carry some, you can have all for wheels chained up in about 30 mins or less. Sure footedness and safety are great.
Not your responsibility to say anything.

2nd string I run 1/4 hex head sheet metal screws around the edges of my boot with wear pattern in mind. Ever since I slipped on ice an broke the cartilage in my elbow (I think that's what the Dr said) a few years ago I tried a couple brands of crampons but they were a pain and a lot more costly than a dozen or so zip screws.

I proceeded to follow his instructions, got flustered in the process and ran the trailer through the back of the garage, into the formal dining room, taking out Mom's precious china cabinet in the process. Not a good scene but Dad made the most of the teaching moment and backing up trailers has never been an issue since.

I don't have any good advice. When I have lost love ones I have to remind myself it's just going to hurt for a while because I love them but don't let that hurt dominate every aspect of my life. Like most injuries loss will heal over time and will, of course, leave a mark. Hopefully a nice happy mark....

I had a 78 F250 that I hooked the boat up I put a dent in it. Didn’t go through. Better steel back then

Thats one of the downsides to aluminum is instead of a small dent like in steel theres a giant tear. The other is bimetal corrossion between any steel and aluminum and just corrosion. I think ill stick with steel
