After thinking about it for a couple of years, in 2015 I decided to see what 5x8 cargo trailers were available with the intention of making it into a single person camper. Literally the same day I started looking the perfect, lightly used one was posted on Craigslist for half the price of a new one and it was only 25 miles away. I've enjoyed it ever since.
One way to look at it is if the tracks are worth 50k, and you have 50k in accessories for them. Since the tracks were free, essentially you paid half price for everything. One way to look at it.
So very true, Casey! Facebook deals only show up when you're not particularly looking for an item not when you need to find one. Always enjoy your channel!
Knew you were going to get one those trailers, because that’s what I would have done. Very nice! I deleted Facebook about 6 years ago. I miss the marketplace sooo much!! I used to hustle none stop and came up on a lot of cool stuff.
No doubt... If you are brave enough to check some auction sites you'll find the perfect trailer for 1/10th of what you just spent. However if you hadn't bought it , you'd still be looking a year from now. Well that's how it seems to work for me.
It's OK Casey, you needed a trailer of that size, for all the reasons you just gave. I predict that you will be hauling way more than your vehicle with the tracks. Just think of the money saved by not using the tilt deck truck, not carrying the tracked vehicle around. OH... Now I see why it was so more expensive. Hydraulic tilt action. NICE!!
10-12K ish? But I can see that configuration being really useful and easier to load and unload. How much weight will you be able to load on it practically?
Congrats Casey😎🎉 Loading the Track Jeep 😂 But the Willys 😂😂 Bring on the Snow!❄️☃️❄️ Watched the Ads so you can continue providing Saturday morning entertainment! 👍😎🇺🇸
Casey, I feel the same way about trailers. I did the exact same thing looked for months for a trailer could not find one finally got frustrated and just bit the bullet and went and bought a brand new one, but absolutely will not regret it.
7:12 I think your center brake light might be burned out. The incandescent bulbs are nice in the winter because they melt snow and ice, but they burn out more often.
7:29 o.0 he's admiring your wood, Casey... 🤔Oh my! 🤣🤣 I have a trailer with a hand crank like that. I drilled a hole through the crank handle/post shaft, unbolted it, welded a washer to the post shaft, and put a large nut on it. I can now, using a locking D-pin, swap between the original handle and the nut with an impact gun to quickly run it up and down without cranking by hand.
Congratulations on the trailer! It looks great. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this setup. My opinion doesn't factor into this, and sorry to the blazer, but I like the 2 Jeeps more.
I'd like to recommend putting some sort of covering over the soare trailer tire to protect it from UV rays from the Sun. This will make it safer when its older and prevent some dry rot.
I know the saying is "buy once, cry once", but I dont think the originator of that wisdom allowed for Casey's "Buy often cry (once) often". Though, to be fair, he does seem to do very well with finding good deals to purchase, and good buyers to sell to. To be fair to Casey as well, he is pretty savvy at finding multi-uses for what he does add to his fleet, and if it doesn't at least bring him and his family a lot of fun, if not being profitable to his business, it gets sold for what I can only assume is a fair price because it sells reasonably quickly.
We run two of those exact same trailers hauling all sorta construction materials i have had 24,000 pounds of stone on our 24 footer you will be happy with it
the new trailer will also come in handy in summer when you do the forest clean ups, and for recoverys, i think it might turn out to be a blessing is disguise.

If the king of FB Marketplace and auctions can’t find a decent trailer at an affordable price, there isn’t one to be had. Great purchase buying it new. We know you will get your money’s worth out of it!
I can't help but comment that, for a single operator recovery company, you sure have a lot vehicles. Every comment helps your income though. I don't think you can count the Willy in those track costs. It is a vehicle that I would have bought too and one I hope you keep so I can see it on recoveries.
Granpa &Dad had built a tilt trailer that we used for lots of stuff, wasn't powered tho, when empty and not locked it would just set normal,, but a little kid on the back was enough to make it full tilt, and a stepping lock bar would keep it from going back level till you released it,,, which was done with a spring you'd put on the lockbar ,step on the back and spring pulled the lockbar up,,,, or once equipment was on the end then put the spring on,, when trailer wiggle jiggle as equipment going on bar would go up,,, but dang that power tilt on yours is sweet
Yes but as you have explained in the past Casey, the fees on just driving your big truck are a lot more expensive so I find this as a necessary part of your business it will pay for itself in the long run ,Michelle in Australia
Nice looking trailer for the jeep with the free tracks on it. But it will be useful for hauling other things too and you don't have to drag out ramps all the time either!
Suggestion on the random radio: This kind of thing just happened to me in a Jeep Grand Cherokee with the same UConnect software. Internet searching pointed to a main battery that was getting weak. Internet was right! Replaced the battery and radio issues disappeared, remote start started working again, and a couple of other silly oddities were cured. Had no other symptoms of a weak battery, just random weird stuff. Might be worth a check.
Hope you get enought recovery work this winter to help make your money back for the cost of the new trailer. Best of luck to you and your family. Stay safe and healthy.
Nice new trailer for hauling the track jeep or whatever. Makes loading so much easier. This new one should be able to easily replace the trailer you was using. If you sell the old trailer you could lessen the cost of this one. Waiting to see if you keep or sell the old one.
A good story as well. Now I understand why you couldn't easily use the gooseneck. Sometimes new is the only option left and it looks like you got just what you wanted though it did seem slightly slow on going back down with the Jeep on it.
with how offset the tracks are (considering he also has to run bolt pattern swap spacer) the leverage on the suspension from the massive tracks will cause significant wear
Leverage on all the components, and the fact that the tracks have zero give when they hit bumps and rough roads. Tires are huge cushions that absorb all the shock loads of driving, especially when aired down, but tracks send every jolt right through to the vehicle
I like it. You will get a lot of use out if it. Very useful. I can see you getting a job that you have to use the Zak Lift to get something out and pulling it up on the trailer and haul it away.
Good video ! another nice Tax Writoff & That Trailer will be Mighty useful for a lot of stuff. i'm betting it will get used the most. it's a Perfect size & with that easy load / Dump feature. it's gonna be Mighty useful. Wondering Why u Pay with a Bank check & Not a Business Credit Card to Get 2% or 3% Cash back or Miles. I'm Guessing They Give You a Cash Discount & it saves them paying the 2% fee for using a credit card.
You’re exactly right, and that couple thousand pounds makes a BIG difference when going down an icy road. And since both are 14k trailers, the bumper pull can actually haul more weight on the deck
Casey is a smart dude so he's probably already done this .. move the jeep until hitch weight is perfect , then screw a pair of blocks to act as stops for the tracks
I’ve been looking at used trailers. The standard used 7k trailer is almost the same price as a new 10k trailer (maybe $500-$1000) less. And with a new trailer, the tires and new and the axles aren’t bent.
Yeah when it comes to trailers there's many that will,,,ok,,,it sorta works for most of the stuff used for and while stuff gets done it can be frustrating at times,, so one either just gets a brand new one that's just right,,, or buys an "almost" right trailer and modify,, or,,, if "just the perfect one" shows up on marketplace or any advertising medians, BUY IT !!!! if possible
Frankly, you can probably lose the gooseneck for the right price now. Between the gooseneck and flatbed trailers for this big truck and this one, you're pretty well covered. Sure, a bumper pull tows worse than a gooseneck long range, but how often are you going to choose to do that with a pickup instead of the semi with a portable bedroom?
That's a nice trailer, what's the load rating and around how much? Also, did I hear right and those tracks are 50k new? who the heck spends that kinda money on tracks?
I've heard they cut a few more corners on the details, cheaper metal, cheaper paint, mediocre welds, etc? Or has even the mighty PJ started doing the same? How does the tracks factor in to the vehicle's payload capacity ? Will there be accelerated wear on the vehicle's gears - engine and transmission components ?
At least with a new trailer you know that it was not stolen like the dump trailer you bought last year.
I was just thinking about that at the end of this vid.

Being a tilt trailer I almost wonder if it still weighs the same as the other setup. 10k truck, 7k jeep, 5k trailer
Close, although I would guess the Goosneck weighs more like 7-8K
It’s about 2,000 pounds lighter. That gooseneck is heavy
