Great video Danny, accuracy off the tee is so critical and more golfers need to spend the time getting this right. Great advice for all handicap levels. Got to make more videos like this, cheers!
The Mr Miyagi of golf makes you sweep the floor instead of painting a fence. Great videos! I love how you keep it simple, offer drills, and always summarize the learnings.
For the broom drill alone, this video is pure gold. It won't be long before I'm heading over to Canterbury and paying you for some lessons. Just incredible Danny, I can't believe my game has been transformed just by watching your videos for a few weeks. Incredible I can't thank you enough.
'Fix the face' is definitely more than a crazy detail for my golf-game. Had severe problems after changing to a single plane swing...adjusting the new distances in my stance and set-up. Your tips helped here hugely. Not only they reminded me on how smart my body is, figuring out ways to solve (tee) problems, I also found, that making a 'gate' with two extra tees right and left helps me to finally square the club face more often. This deteriorated once I went on the course, why I established a new habit to my pre-shot routine: I simply visualized that gate of extra tees and wow: this worked as well for me as the drill at the range:) Thanks for making this video and all your hints, drills and helpful explanations.
@@DanielMaude You say to "square up the club face" but I am missing just how to do that. Could you clarify the process of squaring up the club face? Is it grip? Keeping the lead shoulder closed? I'm a bit lost and a big slicer.
Danny. Took your training to the driving range today and had outstanding results. Thank you so much. Can’t believe no one has picked up on my upper body over rotation before. The broom was the secret!
Tried the pulling the club through and timing and stroke immediately improved! I play of 6 but it always feels I am barely in control, this feels very natural....I am a new fan!
Driver video is great, as a left hand golfer, do the opposite. I changed foot positions . Wow long and straight!! Now have to watch on 3 wood , they we’re long and straight, I changed something. Keep up the great video’s . I have been telling my friends!
As always, Danny, brilliant instructions! Most of the time I "pull" the ball left (RH Golfer) which means I have a relatively square club face, but with an out-to-in swing. For a quick check, I tried the broom drill. My neighbor asked me what the heck I was doing? Told him I wanted the neatest lawn in town. Good stuff! (lol!)
Thank you Danny! I’ve watched you for about 4 months and dropped 5 strokes on my handicap It also helps me to better understand my golfpro instructions, and ask the right questions
I have been fighting slice for many years, many golf teachers and lessons, but, this explanation about swing path finally worked out very well for me. Thank you Danny for your great help.
Okay so ive been golfing for a few months now and i finally got it figured out yesterday... i was hittin like 2-4 / 18 fairways trying to play my slice but watching videos and realizing im susposed to be swinging in to out really helped me and i hit almost everydrive straight yesterday! Also slowed swing down to about 80 percent power and was still consistent around 230-250 yards
Ive also broken 3 drivers which where my grandfathers a ping g15, a red nike vrs, and a king cobra... any recomendations on a strong fairly inexpenisve driver?
Danny, I was at the range yesterday and had slice fever so today I decided to check out RUclips to see if anyone had some good suggestions. Low and behold I found your channel and I swear you diagnosed my slicing problem and solved it. Thanks and I’ll be forever checking for other great tips. You’re the Man,
I knew about the foot powder trick, and using tee guides. I know how important it is to square the club face at impact, no matter what the swing path. But the backhand ball throw is a new drill to try, and when you pulled out the broom, I was swept away. Can't wait to get outside tomorrow to try these out. Thanks, Danny.
I've played for a few years here and there with my dad. Honestly got decent with my irons but had such a severe slice with my driver that i'd typically just hit an iron off the tee to keep from losing all my balls. I watched this video, took it straight to the course today and was driving them 290 yards dead straight. I beat my dad by 2 strokes today which never happened before lol. THANK YOU!
Every weekend I look forward to learning from your video. In this lesson, I personally like the broomstick drill. Your drills are truly helpful 💕 Thank you again
Danny - I’ve been learning so much from your videos and your instructional methods have enabled the student to understand the theory and to put it into practice with your drills; when I saw you take out that old broom, I almost lost it! Fantastic, as was the backhand ball throw - amazing how you make us feel the sensation we need to target... Thank you!
Hi Danny. Got to say thank you for this video. Was struggling with my driving and your tips helped me out no end today. Every drive was straight down the middle. Shot 4 over par with 43 points off 11 handicap. Thank you
Never thought I'd enjoy using a broom so much! Both that drill & throwing the ball backwards really helps to retrain the brain with regard to the correct swing path.
I found just a slight close of the face straightened me right out so I started aiming slightly right. Weird because as a slicer I had always aimed slightly left. This is a great video to help many and a reminder that I need to close my face just a little. I do love hitting straight.
Thanks Danny, after years of becoming an expert from out from under trees, I now hit 65 per cent of my drives on the fairway. still practising for more consistency but the drills really help especially the broom.
I've just grabbed the brush and tried it. I'm gobsmacked 😀. It's totally highlighted my incorrect shoulder position. Can't wait to get out on the range 👍
@@DanielMaude hmm, I hit 90 balls and they went everywhere. Some even stayed on the tee 😱. Next time on the range, I'll bring my driver. That brush doesn't strike the ball cleanly 🤣.
Danny! This video came to me right on time. My slice was getting out of control recently, but using more of my lower body/hips and hinging my wrist like you showed has all but corrected my slice now. Can't wait to play this weekend. Thanks!!!
I've just got back to playing golf after 4 years from having a bad accident. All these lessons, and tips are great, to say I can play 18 holes now with no aches, and pains is a great feeling! Keep the good work up mate
Good morning, Danny. To [Hit the Ball on Line] (a) to the Pin, (b) to the Fairway or (c) to where you want it to go... I (a) Line my [Left Hip] to the Target, [ITB to Hip], & (b) use my [Lower Body Rotation] for the [Swing & Club Head Contact]. To the Point. With [Ease of Motion] it works everytime. Why? My [Coordination & Timing] is focused on the task at hand. Great [Concentration & Attention Span]. Have a great day, my friend. PS: With my [Left Hip for Aim], my [Right Hip] is completely Balanced during the entire Golf Shot. (I'm not concerned about it. It will get the job done.) A Fun Note: Most Obvious: I don't [dog] the ball. I let my [Breath] enjoy the [Rhythm of the Swing]. Great lesson, Danny.
I have the straight dead left pull down pat. It flies like a bullet and long. I know my shoulders are over active, but the big muscles of the shoulders are where my power originates. I have been tweaking my grip a little to introduce the power fade. Now I have a hard left pull that fades back. Sometimes a simple tweak instead of a complete rebuild is ok too. I just have to be careful not to overcook it. Also with my irons, i changed the lie angle to 2 degree upright which helped quite a bit. Repeatable and consistent is important too.
Danny, You are by far the best “teacher” on RUclips. From relaxing the grip in order to create more lag to standing a bit closer to the ball and letting gravity create a consistent chip or pitch I am finally back to a single digit. However, I tend to draw almost all my drives and hit fairly accurately except for the occasional wide right with an open face, or dreaded duck hook. But my irons miss is always to the left but straight as an arrow. So for me, would you suggest less turn with my irons via the broom drill or more turn with a different face angle? Again I cannot tell you how much you have helped me the past two years. Thanks again.
your tips are always so useful and so naturally explained. You really changed the way I swing with every club. Thanks for keeping so easy when you teach! 🙏🏻
Hello Danny...I'm learning soooo much from your videos. After spraying the driver I see that many of my strikes are up at the top of the club. I sure would love your input.P.S. I am a left handed golfer. Thanks!
Such a clear explanation to all of the problems that we can cause. Giving me a much better understanding. Thank you. Definitely will do it in stages. Jill
Great video. Thanks. I’ve been slicing for a long time and I’m left handed. A lot of golfers tell me I’m using all upper body. But I have lower back issues and limited hip movement. So I couldn’t figure out how to correct my swing. So I’m going to def try your exercises.
I also have back problems and started using a single plane swing -called natural golf- which was pushed by MoeMorman and now by Todd Graves. It is suppose to be easier on the back and you can hitstraighter shots using it. In addition, I switched to a ping G30 driver and hitting 80-90 percent of thefairways and not pushing or slicing shots with the driver. As for instructors, Danny Maude is the best. I have saved many of his tips on how to use the driver, your irons, (he helped me with my irons so I no longer pull my irons by not swinging over the top) and how to move your feet and hips, how to chip and pitch, etc.
great thanks! Personally my major finds were tee higher and further forward, make sure the club face is square and keep more over the ball with arms closer to body. Easy!!
A lot of detail but explained so well. I've always struggled to hit the big stick but your videos are slowly helping me find more fairways. Guess I'm spending tomorrow afternoon at the range
Thanks for the video. I couldn't figure out what I was doing differently lately that had hooking and slicing while trying to figure it out. Really helped me.
OMG - I got an advertisement of Hank Haney at the start of this video. Sorry Hank, but Danny is so much better for lerning and UNDERSTANDING the golf swing - to kepp it super simple!Just keep going Danny and I skipped Hank... LOL
Wow! Can’t wait to try this. I’ve been so frustrated with my out to in swing and have been struggling to get the club out. This looks like it could really help. Thanks Danny!
I found the "secret" to accurate and solid golf shots years ago. I got the idea while watching a golf tournament on TV. The announcer was commenting on a player's accuracy into the green on approach shots saying he was "throwing darts". A fairly good dart player, I started "throwing darts". It worked. However you need to know the technique for throwing darts accurately. Once you have that down, works on every club from driver to putter. Tip: "throwing". Millions do not really know how to correctly throw anything and yet "throwing" is often used by instructors relevant to the golf swing.
Very true, as coaches we use many images, throwing is certainly one. This gives those players that can throw a simple way to produce a golf swing. For those that can't throw there are many more drills that could be equally as good
@@DanielMaude Yes, as Manuel De La Torre said, you can always tell someone WHAT to do but it's impossible to tell them HOW to do it. An extremely difficult task.
Hi Danny. Great video. So much to chew on and take to practice. Have so much control of my irons, but driver still has a big right miss. Will work on it with the throw and broom drills especially. Top work from a BCUC lad!
Thank You So much Danny Maude. You are "Dan The Man". Your videos are a Blessing to my golf game. Thanks to you my scores are getting lower. Thanks again God Bless.
Your tips are like bible even my golf mate now is watching your tips and his driving has improved 100% but it took me improving a year before him before he decided to start watching your tips .
I found this video to be very informative and practical to work with. I like the powder spray, have never seen that before. That explains a lot to me. It seems that there are as many ways to drive a golf ball as there are golf instructors and famous professionals to teach you their personal techniques. But the best method for anything is the KISS method: Keep It Simple, Stupid.
Cheers Danny, I am doing ok with all irons being a beginner (3 rdyear) who started with age 48. But with my driver it is erratic. Sometimes I slice, sometimes I hook, i have sky shots (3,2,1 liftoff😅). I have used ball mark tape ;(one day heel, then toe). I am incredibly creative with that club and I have learned a lot about the trees left and right of the fairway. Being an engineer i understand and even believe what you say, Great video as allways, however that club is somehow cursed for me....🤪 I might setup a gate with two teepacks and swing right through the middle. 🤔 Or even better I use some explosive that will detonate if I hit heel or toe. That should teach me........booooooooooooom 🤣 I am still having a lot of fun though... Cheers Christian
Great video, was very helpful helping me find the fairway and hit my driver straight... great tip to help activate lower body vs upper body rotation. well done DM
Been going to the range to improve weekly, sometimes twice and golfing on weekends as well. I shoot in the range of 45-55. i have watched every one of your driver videos and tried it all so far but no luck. left handed and slice hard left. going to get the foot spray finally and start from step one and see if i can make any improvement. If i were not dropping for 3 off the tee i truly think i would be mid to low 40's. will update.
Spencer Smouse one thing I would start with if you slice is trying to hook the ball, or alternatively imagine putting lots of top spin on the shot like a tennis shot
@@DanielMaude went to the range yesterday. didnt make it past step one after 75 drives but the foot spray is a must have. was hitting off the bottom inside heel. now im center left and hitting it nicely with less slice. still cant hook or hit on the toe even after trying but so far your tips are helping! thanks a ton for these videos again.
Always try to work out my slices with your tips. Always seem to just bottle it just always think in my mind that it's going to happen. Irons, hybrids are straight but drivers teeing off always goes to the right. Only stays on the green if its a big open course. Think it's in my head. Years ago when I was a boy I could hit it straight and have distance on it
Thanks Danny. Reinforcing some messages I have already and giving a different view is helpful. Already swear by the spray for impact assessment. Also using trackman to review how I’m progressing as I love the feedback of the numbers.
Thanks for the vid, I find them a good in-between lessons guide. I can hit the ball really well with my Pro and at the range in lessons, however I really struggle to transfer it to the tee during play and most often top my Drive, no matter how well I was going during the lesson.
Really great video Danny...cant fix it all at once, need to pinpoint the different areas that need work and how to find out the issues, good stuff man, thanks!
@@DanielMaude Thank you, Danny. I went to the driving range and hit around 150 balls and there were some fantastic shots I have never played before. There were some push shots too. So I took the driver a little bit straighter on my backswing to correct it ??? However, in overall over 92% of my shots were great.
@@DanielMaude I watched the Senior's tourney from Royal St. Ann's! Humidity was pretty high. We have hot humid weather as well. Played in the club championship yesterday, and felt like I was in a sauna!! I shot an 80!! Really rough day!! BUT....MY DLICE IS REDUCED!! THANK YOU, BROTHER!!! 😎😎👍👍
I’m a pretty straight hitter but I’m really going to try the foot spray. Would you do a video on addressing the ball properly? Thanks. Love watching your videos.
Great info Danny. Love your videos. For the 2nd step, you said to straighten the club face but didn’t say how. Do we simply open or close the face more at address?
Cheers Danny - and thanks for all your great training videos! One thing I have lots of trouble with is trying to hit what you call "small shots" with driver working on drills. Looks so smooth and simple when you do it, but when I try to slow it down my swing just falls apart. Will welcome any suggestions to help with this. Thanks!
@@DanielMaude Thanks for the quick reply! I'll try to maybe gradually slow it down in steps. Just challenging to back off when I tend to go too hard at it off the tee.

@@Hacker-xe8yv very true, this is something we must all learn to discover
Your "Elvis" move is probably responsible for the WGC event in Memphis! It rocks! Putting video please. Thanks
Funny, thanks Kevin, putting video coming soon
The Broom is such a great idea. I am a slicer and hope to fix it now Thanks.
That broom is a game changer! I find my right shoulder getting stuck under my left far too often this should help!
Thanks for the comment Wish, I love the feeling the broom gives golfers...simple but effective
Good work Danny! You’re explaining and providing drills is very understandable and helpful. I look forward to the next one each week.
Thanks again.
Hi Danny. Great video. So much to chew on and take to practice. Have so much control of my irons, but driver still has a big right miss. Will work on it with the throw and broom drills especially. Top work from a BCUC lad!
Great to hear from you Ben, DM me on Instagram, would be great to hear what you’ve been up to
Thank You So much Danny Maude. You are "Dan The Man". Your videos are a Blessing to my golf game. Thanks to you my scores are getting lower. Thanks again God Bless.
Glad to hear it, thanks fir taking the time out of your day to let me know 😁
Your tips are like bible even my golf mate now is watching your tips and his driving has improved 100% but it took me improving a year before him before he decided to start watching your tips .
Thanks so much for sharing them Antonakis
Your instruction is so clear and understandable, Thank You.
Mark Heckey my pleasure Mark, thanks for the comment
I found this video to be very informative and practical to work with. I like the powder spray, have never seen that before. That explains a lot to me. It seems that there are as many ways to drive a golf ball as there are golf instructors and famous professionals to teach you their personal techniques. But the best method for anything is the KISS method: Keep It Simple, Stupid.
Joe Palooka love it Joe...KISS
Cheers Danny,
I am doing ok with all irons being a beginner (3 rdyear) who started with age 48.
Being an engineer i understand and even believe what you say,
Great video as allways, however that club is somehow cursed for me....🤪
I might setup a gate with two teepacks and swing right through the middle.
🤔 Or even better I use some explosive that will detonate if I hit heel or toe.
That should teach me........booooooooooooom
🤣
I am still having a lot of fun though...
Cheers
Christian
Having fun has to be the main aim with any game...results will follow
Great video, was very helpful helping me find the fairway and hit my driver straight... great tip to help activate lower body vs upper body rotation. well done DM
Thank you Mike, much appreciated
Best drills ever... very kind of you! Best Regards!
My pleasure, this video makes want to get back out and play golf
Just what I needed! Again a perfect timing video
The Life Under Par thanks again,
Been going to the range to improve weekly, sometimes twice and golfing on weekends as well.
This one helped so much. Immediately hitting straighter!
Love the throw ball drill and broom to cure slice!!
Eddie Du thanks Eddie, love to hear how you get on
I love your lessons...I'm fairly consistent...but lost some swing speed...and therefore, distance. age and flexibility wreck havoc on distance!
If you are able to keep up with daily stretching and strength training it can really help
Always try to work out my slices with your tips. Always seem to just bottle it just always think in my mind that it's going to happen. Irons, hybrids are straight but drivers teeing off always goes to the right. Only stays on the green if its a big open course. Think it's in my head. Years ago when I was a boy I could hit it straight and have distance on it
Stick in there Liam, you will get it
Thanks Danny. Reinforcing some messages I have already and giving a different view is helpful. Already swear by the spray for impact assessment. Also using trackman to review how I’m progressing as I love the feedback of the numbers.
Love trackman, I need a home studio next
Love his simple instructions.
Thanks Tony
Great Video Danny!! thank you and i will try to put these drills into motion. Can't wait for the next video.
Thanks for the vid, I find them a good in-between lessons guide. I can hit the ball really well with my Pro and at the range in lessons, however I really struggle to transfer it to the tee during play and most often top my Drive, no matter how well I was going during the lesson.
My pleasure Steve, hope it helps your ball striking
You have helped me immensely and I’ve shared your vids with my friends. Great senior tips too. Thanks!
Awesome! Thank you!
Really great video Danny...cant fix it all at once, need to pinpoint the different areas that need work and how to find out the issues, good stuff man, thanks!
Thanks Daniel, yes this video needs to be taken in bite sizes only
Fantastic stuff, making big things little. Today I'll do this in the garden as it's too hot to go to the course.
Sounds great! Let me know how you get on
@@DanielMaude Thank you, Danny. I went to the driving range and hit around 150 balls and there were some fantastic shots I have never played before. There were some push shots too. So I took the driver a little bit straighter on my backswing to correct it ??? However, in overall over 92% of my shots were great.
Great lesson(s) this week, Danny!! Thank you! I know this info is going to help me cure my wicked slices!!
Ross Duff Thanks Ross, hope you’re having a great weekend...we’ve had a heat wave here in England
Great lesson Danny. It is working for me, thank you.
That’s so good to hear, thank you
Great explanation! It all comes down to the coordination of one's boy or total body harmony during the up and down swing.
Edward G it does indeed Edward, thanks for sharing
Excellent Danny. Really simple
Glad you like it!
Great lesson. Exactly what I need. Thanks
Pleasure Inger
I’m a pretty straight hitter but I’m really going to try the foot spray. Would you do a video on addressing the ball properly? Thanks. Love watching your videos.
Great info Danny. Love your videos. For the 2nd step, you said to straighten the club face but didn’t say how. Do we simply open or close the face more at address?
Good point, just get the feel of it closing and opening, feel it without a ball first then gradually add the ball
Thanks Danny! Great advice. I will try and work on some of those.
Hope it helps your golf 👍
I have watched and followed maybe 100000 how-to-hit- straight nstruction videos and for some reason I am still seeking these videos........
And how are you getting on??
Cheers Danny - and thanks for all your great training videos! One thing I have lots of trouble with is trying to hit what you call "small shots" with driver working on drills. Looks so smooth and simple when you do it, but when I try to slow it down my swing just falls apart. Will welcome any suggestions to help with this. Thanks!
Russell Ferrante I can see it could be difficult, maybe keep it at a pace you feel comfortable but can still manage to feel what’s going on
@@DanielMaude Thanks for the quick reply! I'll try to maybe gradually slow it down in steps. Just challenging to back off when I tend to go too hard at it off the tee.
great video thanks, I'm on step 3 now :) !
Excited to try these on the range tomorrow. Liked and subscribed. Thanks Danny. 👍🏼
Excellent video! Many thanks Danny!
Kan Parekh my pleasure Kan, thanks for the feedback
Thanks so much for your tips, improved significantly my game
my pleasure Reginald, thank you for the feedback, really appreciate it
Great tip with broom ( as a caster ) 👍
Pete Adams thanks Pete, it works great for casters, it will give you a wonderful feel of how the handle of the club works upwards through impact too
Excellent insight, Danny. Thanks for the tips.
WoWKoest my pleasure, hope you have a great weekend
okay, I love that tip of throwing the ball backwards with the left hand...that tip increased my swing speed massively
Thanks for the feedback, great to hear the drill is helping
Danny I look for your instructions as often as I can.
Cohérent and easy to understand. Just 82 getting close to a usable swing.
Thanks so much!
Danny, thanks for the great tips and drills. You were, however, a little short on the path drills for hooker like me. Can you briefly explain how a hooker would use the ball throw down and broom drills? Thanks much!!!
Danny has changed my game totaly this year
Hopefully for the better Kevin 😁
Great video, that will help me when my draw sometimes turns into a hook. Something for me to work on.
Thanks Danny...Will try these as I am struggling with consistency
Keith Nolan thanks for the comment Keith, keep it simple and just focus on one of these things in a practice session
