Adrian has simplified and focused a ton of complicated instruction into easy-to-understand steps. If you can get those steps down, you do not need anything else as an amateur. Excellent video and definitely saving this one, especially the chalk mark tip. You need to play some rounds with this chap and have him critique your shots, it would be a great video and you might bring your game up Matty!

Very good video, having just had a lesson with my pro on driving similar changes made. Having a classic out to in swing with too much body and arms throwing the club at the ball, to say my drives were variable is putting it mildly.
Loved his simple explanations and drills to try so you can feel what the club is doing, which is the key to success.
6 months ago the highest I would tee up would be on a blue standard tee. So maybe 20 mm max, as the classic chopping down he demonstrated. Anything higher and the skied shot as club goes underneath the ball.
Was hitting them well off pink tees which showed the changes underway.

Thanks for this video. After 30 odd years as a low handicap constantly fighting over the top the first drill dragging the club gave me a eureka moment. Immediately hit the driver higher and left the tee in the ground, something that never happened with my 'old' swingpath. I had to lower driver loft from 11degs to 9 degs as I was at last hitting up.
All clubs benefitted giving a higher powerful flight with shallow divots. Can't wait to get back on the course!

Everyone should start out playing with old persimmon drivers…the sweetspot was so small on those beauties you really had to learn how to hit it on the screws and you had to shallow out those clubs to get them to go anywhere. Today they just give you a tool to adjust the head to fix your flawed swing. This lesson is real simple and I love it. Don’t make golf hard… keep it simple and learn how to hit the center of the clubface

  • @markk171

Matt, great video. The lead arm out and swinging under the lead arm is interesting and after stepping outside and trying that it feels SO different. I can actually "feel" the club head better than I ever have...can hardly wait to go to the range and give it a go.. Can you Dad do the same type of video with irons? Same kind of thing...wrist hinge with irons? or better yet, send your Dad out to southwest Washington state and I volunteer to be his test subject.

Really enjoyed that, for years I’ve not trusted having a really relaxed grip. So a few weeks ago after playing the front 9 distinctly average I just thought.. sod it,really relax the grip & it made a huge difference. Especially to my irons, and I’ve played golf for 45+ years and been single figure HC.
Maybe it’s my Damascus moment & after just hitting 60 I need to forget about just using my power to play good golf

I was with a friend on the range trying to explain this. Another thing was he was swaying away from the ball on takeaway. By the moving back on his downswing, he was losing so much clubhead speed. Explaining it as relative speed made sense. He slowed down, kept a tempo, hit straighter and longer without pain or effort.
