At 220 bucks it’s a great reel. I’ve been fishing one for a while now cause my buddy works for Daiwa so I’ve had it for almost 3 months. I also have steez and zillions as well. My hands down favorite reel from Daiwa though is my zillion, for some reason it’s just amazing it does everything I need it to do. One of the smoothest reels ever made
Has it stayed nice and smooth for you or has it loosened up like older tatulas? I've had a tatula ct for only a year and it turned into a loose, clicky, geary mess - even though I greased it before its first use
A bit of correction on Daiwa's lineup changes (this comes straight from a Daiwa representative, so this is NOT just a theory): The new Tatula SV TW 100 is replacing the Tatula SV TW 103, while the old(er) Tatula 100 will stay. The new Tatula SV TW 150 is NOT replacing the old Tatula 150, so the new SV TW 150 is really just an upgraded option for the old 150. Hope this helps you guys make sense of the mess Daiwa has created in its lineup!
It's true, it's a shame that the 103 line is going extinct, it was the best quality-price series from Tatulas, $180 and you had almost everything you needed and improved, now you have to pay $200 or more.
Thanks for the video. The previous tatula 100 had already gone up to $179 even before the 2023 version came out. I watch a lot of stuff from daiwa and a lot of their pro shops and I haven’t heard they are discontinuing the 2023 tatula 100. Also, the tatula sv tw 103 was 209 before this new tatula sv 100 came out. As long as it works like I expect it to I would happily pay the few bucks more for the sv boost.
I really like the size fits my hand well . The gear engagement and the spool Technology is a big plus. Like always I enjoy your Commentary and dig when you tear into the reels. And to actual see inside of a reel , which I belive most fisherman have no idea of. Thanks for posting this video today
Just from the specs I like that reel, and I've always loved the Daiwa braking system, and I do own more Tatulas than other brands. I would consider buying that latest model around my birthday, that's when folks give me gift cards, which is how I purchased most of my higher priced rods and reels.
I have all the tatulas. Sv103 is my favorite. The new 100 is very nice for the price, although I still have and enjoy the original 100 and just bought a new one on sale. I will most definitely be picking up a couple of these new SV100’s too. Love the channel.
The majority of my reels are the japanese 2020 tatula sv and they have been my favorite. They all perform great and only get a "clunky" feeling with baits that require twitching, l think it's also from the play in the t-wing system like you pointed out. IMO the only downside with the old tatula's is the lack of pinion support, so i'm glad they put in that pinion bearing. Another downside for me is how ridiculously tiny the handles knobs are and swapping those out are another $40-$60. It'll be a great reel with that extra pinion support and upgraded spool but they need to stop using those tiny handles. If I were to get another reel though, I'd just go with the new shimano slx xt. The first slx xt is another favorite and fishes just as well at almost half the cost, it had the perfect profile for me, felt smooth and casted just as well as my tatula svs and came with the comfortable shaped knobs that I didn't have to switch out.
Daiwa's braking system is definitely easier to use, and works a lot better in the wind and on lighter baits, than the SVS braking of Shimano. The reason I always went Shimano was because they tended to be smooth out of the box and stay mostly smooth. My old Tatula was a geary mess after a season. I need a new topwater reel, so I'll probably pick this up to try it out.
According to my local shop, which the owner is also a Diawa sponsored angler, the standard Tatula 100 (last years release) and the new Tatula SV are both active SKU's. This year's model replaced replaced the Tatula SV 103 and added a 150 SV.
I been a shimano fan all the time and gotta say i really liked the tatula so much that got me a second one, have the 6.3 and the 8.1 gear rations.. cast great out the box but replaced the spool bearings with ceramic bearings and OMG !!!they are now my favorite reels cast way better than any of my other reels even my shimanos got curados calcuta and tranx also upgraded bearing. The design is very similar indeed but what i think makes a huge diference casting, is the level wind guide design how it opens up when you release the spool.
Diawa Tatula and the Quantum Smoke S3 Casting Reels have been my favorite baitcasting reels so far but I have only been using baitcasters for a couple of years. I have a very old Quantum Catalyst and a Shimano SLX DC.
I bought the SVTW103 over a year ago and also the Lews Tournament Pro. Both are excellent reels, but the Tatula just feels a little better casting and reeling in. I use them on different type rods and so the Tatula is usually throwing smaller lures than the Lews.
I think it's a great looking reel. I'm not a daiwa fan boy but I do appreciate the magforce brakes and ease of use with the zero adjust. And the steep discounts a while back was nice, picked up a few reels cheap. I will always be an abu garcia fan, especially since their customer service is great and made up for a non issue with an order. Doesn't hurt that their sister company, Penn, makes like spinning reels that work great in fresh and salt water.
Give me all of the Tatula SVs!!!!!! Not a fan of losing the Tatula 100 option but the SV103 had become my go-to reel. Anxious to get the new SV models in my hand. Great vid!
These will be great reliable reel for tournaments guys. The price not for everyone but you get what you paid for. Definitely will be getting some of these
Great video, and thanks for talking about the prices on the different models too. I have some Tatula's myself, and they are a very good reel, and I like them a lot but, It's too bad that Daiwa doesn't have a few more reals in the $140-180 dollar price range that have some good quality features. Not everyone wants to spend, or can spend $220- $750 for a Tatula or a Steez. Daiwa will still sell a lot of these reels because people will still buy them, but they might be forcing quite a few people to buy other brands as well. Lews came out with the LFS gen 3 and still kept it at $99. I would like to see you do a review on that reel if you can. Thanks again for the great content.
Excellent review. Very interested in seeing how you make out distance wise. This will probably be my next purchase. I imagine it will have to wait until Black Friday sales have 20% off. I would love to see a curado 150 mgl vs curado 200 m vs new tatula casting competition
If the whole metal frame is a concern for those who are on the fence, do not pull the triger. I think this SV100 shares the same design with the TW100, partial of the gear box is cut off and Daiwa use a plastic sheet to cover the hole. as shown at 14:38, the part under left thumb.
I bought the Tatula TW100SH from Japan a while back (I sent you a message over IG about this :-)) and I love it, Great fit in hand and really smooth! I can't imagine they could make it any smoother. I have no idea why I waited so long to get one of these :-) I wonder after all of the changes with the cuts how many of each reel would be sold over the year.
My issues with daiwa tatulas has been they are bad geary after a short time using them and they aren't as comfortable in hand as a shomano slx xt. Which imo is the best bang for your buck reel on the market. The lfs is second and reg slx don't make my list, it's just decent didn't impress me much and it's also geary 😂. For the just over 200$ or around 200$ I'm going shimano curado mgl 150 all day. I do like the daiwa breaks though just wished some other things was a little different.
The more Daiwa reviews of spinning gear and casting gear would be awesome. I never find a lot of comprehensive reviews on Daiwa gear and I seem to have become a fan boy now lol.
Shimano had some spinning reel problems for sure. I started replacing mine with Daiwa spinning. Coupla years back bought 2 Tatula 150's. I'll be buying one of the new SV TW 100's for the reasons you mentioned. Sure I could use lighter line BUT I want to use 15lb for lighter Buzzbaits, Spinnerbaits , Flukes and floating worm without having to sweat a little overrun
I picked up last years model and its been a beast, It being greased was good surprise vs the 2019 one I have (also I picked up another 2 and they werent greased). I couldnt get myself to get this one though. The price looks to be justified but I have always recommended the 2019 model to my friends and family as a solid beginners reel for a great price but this doesnt seem to be a beginners price anymore haha. Sad to hear that this will be replacing them, might have to grab a few more of last years model. Another great vid!
It's only $10 more than the outgoing SV103 lists at right now. It's more the apparent loss of teh $179 TW100 that creates the challenge on price, it seems they're replacing 3 reels (SV103, TW100 and TW150) with two new ones (SV100 and SV150)
I'm thinking of this or the 150. See if they can replace my 151 mgls. Awesome ViDebo bro! Edit-the larger handles are a plus, wouldn't have to change em out with gomexus.
Debo, do you have a video or would you be interested in making one on how to take apart and properly grease/oil Daiwa Tatula baitcasters? I have two Tatula CT and just ordered a 24 Tatula SV 100, and I know they are notoriously “dry” from the factory. But I also know oil in the wrong place can wear down grease and also there are specialized grease formulations, so I don’t want to compromise anything on my new reels, but would also like to know how to properly clean, maintain, and optimize performance on them. Thanks
I have the ct and I had the older sv tw or whatever but honestly they are smooth I just don’t care for their brakes I usually have to keep them tighter for higher number on the magnetic brakes I’ll still fish them but shimano is my fav for sure
Really, that's the opposite of what I've noticed. I usually fish mine with brakes at 8 - 10. I don't know that I go above that. All personal preference and shimano Definitely makes good reels.
Those are way outta my wheelhouse but I keep looking for second hand on the eBay for a Tatula or Fuego but no luck yet. Another great review my friend thank you. I have seen the Tatulas from Amazon Japan around 105 bucks though.
@@DaveWashburn hey Dave I hope all is well and I haven’t for a while and actually forgot they have secondhand Reels etc. and thank you for the heads up and reply. This is why this is such a great channel, the people.
Wish I’d had the extra cash to pick up the outgoing SV103 when it was $99! Just wasn’t justifiable at the time! Without that part of the mid range price bracket covered it might be a while before I buy another Daiwa.
i have a handful of Daiwa reels. i just wish the Zillion wasn’t the only one with the “lever” side plate release. i really don’t like the flat head screw type deal on the Tatula line. other than that, 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
All it got was the silent tune addition. Just two rubber rings on the spool to reduce vibration and supposedly help casting. I wouldn't worry about rushing and getting it if you have the old one.
Idk feels like Daiwa had room to tighten the lineup. There’s so many Tatulas. I also think we need The Reel Test to do a comparison with the Curado MGL 150 (my personal favorite)
My SV TW 103 has the same SV function where it sort of has a ramp that pushes the orange bit out, the main difference i can see is the orange bit is bigger on this new one
Great looking reel never used any daiwa reels but would like too have you seen the baitcasters from kastking it has no drag I am new at using baitcaster's so I really don't know what to thing about it
Starting at 2:10 for about 15 seconds, you can clearly see that Daiwa does not add any grease to the main drive gear or pinion gear. I had heard this before in some of the other Daiwa videos, but this is first i have actually seen it. Whats with that? Are they trying to save on labor costs? You mention later in the video its extremely lubed, I dont see that unless the grease is clear? Also, the zero adjust makes no sense, if spool tension is set at the factory, then why not just get rid of that knob? Spool tension knob is still supposed to be for fine tuning, right? If not, then why have it at all. Or, is “zero adjust” just a marketing gimmick?
I hope this does not replace the 100 series. I think $170/80 is a fair jump considering the cost of goods has just gone up. But if they are going to eliminate that portion of the market segment and force peaple to look into other brands in that price range, it's gonna be disappointing
Would you say in terms of sheer casting distance that the regular Tatula 100 would outcast the SV due to it’s heavier braking? Would be throwing mostly 3/8-1/2oz total weight lures.
What do you mean by increased price? This reel is replacing the SV that was priced at $219 from what I can see. Those are the two reels on sale. You gain the SV boost spool and the digi gears. Seems like a great deal to me.
This is the SV, it replaces the SV103, which is $209 MSRP (and was $199 originally) 103's are on hefty discount, I just got one yesterday for $229CDN ($165USD)
I've never owned one but I'm pretty set on this for my next reel. I like my SLX DC and how set and forget it is but it's not the smoothest reel out there.
My understanding is that the new TatulaSV100 (2024) is replacing the older TatulaSV100 (2017) and TatulaSV103 (2020) that were both still manufactured/sold by Daiwa until ICAST2024. Both the older reels are now on clearance at TackleWarehouse. The Tatula100, Tatula150, Tatula200, and Tatula300 are all still being sold, with only the Tatula100 getting the refresh last year. So the new TatulaSV100 (2024) is replacing the older TatulaSV100 (2017) and not the Tatula100 (2023)
I think the old Tatula SV TW is being replaced by both the new Tatula SV 100 and SV TW 150. The new SV 100 holds the same amount of line as the old model and gets the boost spool. While the new SV TW 150 holds 30 more yards of line but retains a normal SV spool. Daiwa likes to add skews. I doubt these 2 new reels have anything to do with the regular Tatula 100 and 150 in any way. Something else would replace those for that price segment.
Hey deebo ive had the $10p speed spool lfs and have LOVED IT. so much im even considering just getting the new iteration as an upgrade. That said, the daiwas have always caight my eye. Im kind of between the SLX XT vs the new Tatula SV's. I assumed the SVs would be a step up. I live in south FL so i plan on flipping a lot of jigs and using it for some heavier fishing, byt my preferred methods/configence techniqued are fluked snd texas rigged worms. If you have the time, please give me your recommendation based on this info? I loved this review because it narrowed down for me i think the new 150 SV would be a more do-all reel than the 100 but then again i could be wrong. Pardon my ignorance and either way thank you so much for all you do !!!
Looking at buying a new " do it all" baitcaster for my 7'1 Med- Heavy Fast 6th Sense rod. What does everyone feel are my best options in the sub $200 range? Thank you!!
not sure outside out shallow cranking how it would fit in my line up for that price! i prefer my jig reels to have higher drag then 11 pounds! does look like a great reel tho!
How’s the front of the reel? Is it similar to the CT ? I had the CT but it was too wide at the front for my hand. Currently fishing shimano slx, ark gravity, and abu Garcia revo gen 4 which all fit well. …. Reel prices are funny. If it was $199, I’d probably take the chance and try it because the frame doesn’t look as wide at the front as the CT. But $220 feels a bit steep for me.
I'm in the market for a new all purpose reel with black friday coming up. What do you think about the new sv tw 100 vs a curado? I have a tatula CT that went geary on me in less than a year. I even greased it when it was new. It's used mainly for pike so maybe it can't handle bigger fish. I'm wondering if I should only look at reels with a double supported pinion.
Pretty sure it's the same frame as the '23 TW100, at least all the other marketing suggests that. It's a slightly smaller frame than the departing SV103.
What are yall using this new 100 sv tw or the new 100 non-sv reels for? I'm looking for a general all purpose reel for t-rigging, fluke fishing, chatterbait, and possibly some light frogging. I am considering one of these or the curado 150 mgl. Planning to put on 40lb braid to 14-15lb leader. What do yall think about these options?
@@johnbilinsky5763Thanks for you response! I do like the newer features on this sv 100 reel. I just got my tatula tw 100 23/24 and have 50lbs braid spooled on. I does seem to handle 50lbs just fine, so i think this one would be ok for 50lbs and jigs also i guess
I love the new 100 (not the newest SV) but it does sit a little higher/taller than the 1st gen 100 (with the red accents on clutch bar). That was a little disappointing to me.
Daiwa prices are getting ridiculous. Great reels but you get more from Shimano. The Fuego CT use to sell for $80, now they go for $120?! I'm sorry but that's more than "inflation".
Some folks are reading heavily into the current heavy discounts on the 23 TWO 100. The 100 and 150 are being blown out alongside the definitely replaced SV 103 with the new SV 100 and SV 150 on the market.
I absolutely love my Zillions. I thi k this reel would be a winner IF theyd redo the break dial on the side. Its in the worst place amd is a deal breaker for me
Daiwa USA has been losing their touch on pricing... Shop the Asian market! The Fuego CS SV is the best bang for the buck for $100 with a 33mm SV spool!
Diawa is the absolute worst at rebranding their reels with marketing verbage. The new Tatula 100 with hyperdrive gears are incredible at $179 now they bring down technology from Zillion and sprinkle into different reels to sell more products. The Zillion 1000 is hands down the best reel ive ever used.
down side off tatula, like shimano, sparfts that run through the pinion dont handle heavy drag. bend and rub on the pinion, i dont buy any reel with that design anymore. shitmano now craptula

Interested in the lews custom gen 3
Those are way outta my wheelhouse but I keep looking for second hand on the eBay for a Tatula or Fuego but no luck yet. Another great review my friend thank you. I have seen the Tatulas from Amazon Japan around 105 bucks though.
Hey willtrax, have you checked out American Legacy Fishing? They have quite a bit of good used gear. Daiwa & other top brands.
@@DaveWashburn hey Dave I hope all is well and I haven’t for a while and actually forgot they have secondhand Reels etc. and thank you for the heads up and reply. This is why this is such a great channel, the people.
@@willtrax71 hey, not a problem at all. Anytime sir.
Thanks for a very nice look at it. Definitely like it but have the u.s zillion, may try a jdm zillion while the dollar is still strong!
Nice review Debo, I think I will stick to my Zebco's 🤣I would like to see a review on the American made, solid Aluminum, Bates 100
Wish I’d had the extra cash to pick up the outgoing SV103 when it was $99! Just wasn’t justifiable at the time! Without that part of the mid range price bracket covered it might be a while before I buy another Daiwa.
I like the 90 and 100 mill handles I usually have to upgrade the handles
The Diawa Tatula elite is the best reel ever made for the money.
i have a handful of Daiwa reels. i just wish the Zillion wasn’t the only one with the “lever” side plate release. i really don’t like the flat head screw type deal on the Tatula line.
other than that, 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
And would love to see a review on the new xt A compared to the old
All it got was the silent tune addition.
That new gold Lew's reel for sure! I'd love to know how it compares to the Tatula, or is it more a Zilllion comp?
Great looking reel never used any daiwa reels but would like too have you seen the baitcasters from kastking it has no drag I am new at using baitcaster's so I really don't know what to thing about it
When will you be able to buy it in Germany 🇩🇪 it looks great🔥💯
What I would like to see is a list of all Daiwa bait casters spools that will interchange with other Daiwa bait casters.
I bet TW could give some insight as to the plans.
I think hyperdrive is just the double bearing supported pinion. So just a 1280 and 950 bearing for support.
Come close to Zillion for Boost breaks. I like this reel but not sure about the line up. Also have and like the 70 SV
Agreed!
This is the SV, it replaces the SV103, which is $209 MSRP (and was $199 originally)
103's are on hefty discount, I just got one yesterday for $229CDN ($165USD)
@@adam_mawz_maas Can I ask where you got this from at that price?
Ahh, hadn't realized the SV103 went up too. It was $199 forever 😅
Can you please do a review and breakdown of reels from Sixgill.
That would be really cool if you got someone from Daiwa on your live
Honestly the reel I would like to see you get your hands on is the new Lew’s LFS given your history with the previous 2 versions.
I'm interested in that one too! Not finding many videos on it though
The new tatula in this video is replacing the tatula SV TW 103 and the second one you showed. Yes very confusing there are too many damn tatulas 😂😂😂
I've heard from "Daiwa" people that the 100 from last year was going away. I guess they too were confused 😅
Looking at buying a new " do it all" baitcaster for my 7'1 Med- Heavy Fast 6th Sense rod.
What does everyone feel are my best options in the sub $200 range? Thank you!!
That viDebo sounds contagious!!!🤣🤣🤣
What would you rather have the tatula sv or the Curado70mgl
not sure outside out shallow cranking how it would fit in my line up for that price! i prefer my jig reels to have higher drag then 11 pounds! does look like a great reel tho!
Are you saying the new SV 100 frame is smaller than the recently released 100? I thought the frames are the same size, but maybe not?
Pretty sure it's the same frame as the '23 TW100, at least all the other marketing suggests that. It's a slightly smaller frame than the departing SV103.
when will this baitcasting reel be released in asia?
So…. which reel for lightweight lures? I am a newbie at these lures
Is the tatula sv100 2024 good for heavy cover jig fishing can it do that? Also can it hold enough 50lbs braid to bomb cast some lures?
They made this reel in the 150 for bigger line especially for braid.
I’m sold. Anyone knows the comparison between a Curado DC? Casting distance etc.
At that price I wonder how it compares to the Tatula elite.
I purchased the JDM 103 a couple of years ago after watching your videos about it and see no reason to upgrade at this time.
Can the boost spool fit th 24 tatula 100?
Been buying up all the LFS I can find. Lol. I think that one is gonna be gone too, and I want back ups.
Daiwa prices are getting ridiculous. Great reels but you get more from Shimano. The Fuego CT use to sell for $80, now they go for $120?! I'm sorry but that's more than "inflation".
Yes I love Daiwa but it does feel like they “hate” the customer a little bit sometimes lol
I agree, I've got a vid on that coming.
Can someone help me? I'm wondering if Tatula 100 can be used for 2oz baits? I would be grateful if someone could help me!!!
Debo, I don't think the new 100 SV has the Zero Adjuster.
Its not strange my friend, in the past 4 years everything has gone to hell.
Who says the newer 100 is going away already? It just came out...
Some folks are reading heavily into the current heavy discounts on the 23 TWO 100. The 100 and 150 are being blown out alongside the definitely replaced SV 103 with the new SV 100 and SV 150 on the market.
@@adam_mawz_maas Where are these discounts on the latest 100's? I see the sales on the previous model with the red accents on the thumb bar.
I like the tatula series in rods! Had a nice one and ran it over! Smh
I absolutely love my Zillions. I thi k this reel would be a winner IF theyd redo the break dial on the side. Its in the worst place amd is a deal breaker for me
Im more interested in it compared to that zillion... Ive been waiting to purchase a zillion and this reel throws a wrench in my plan.
Daiwa USA has been losing their touch on pricing... Shop the Asian market! The Fuego CS SV is the best bang for the buck for $100 with a 33mm SV spool!
No zero adjust reels for me. When Daiwa goes all zero adjust reels, I'm going to find another reel company!
Stunning reel but the Shimano dc reels are far better in my opinion.
Oh boy another tatula, just what everyone asked for! 😴😴
日本では、発売しないのですか?
Give me 1 Brother's 😢
do more Shimano reviews…do better😭
I have 2 Gen 1's great reels , I cant get on board with the restyle . Looks like butt cheeks to me .
down side off tatula, like shimano, sparfts that run through the pinion dont handle heavy drag. bend and rub on the pinion, i dont buy any reel with that design anymore. shitmano now craptula
