I purchased the same model you have, mine is the red 7.3 to 1. It has Daiwa Tatula SV TW 103HS on the box. So both reels are 103's. I do agree with you that I prefer the older model to the new model. Great reel.

I love this reel I bought same exact reel lefty and 8.1 2017 model I just bought it yesterday and fished with it for 10 hours and it’s sooo nice to use. The guy at bass pro said it’s like the curado DC but not electronic I wasn’t sure what he meant by that but when I got to the water I saw what he meant. I was fishing with weightless fluke and senkos and weather I chunk it really hard or barely flick it I get about the same distance so I was just single hand casting no backlashes at all and really far casts. I bought it for frog and flipping jigs and can’t wait to throw something heavy on it. Love at first use

I bought a tatula sv tw 103hs or at least that's what the box says , my main thing was that t-wing as I like to flip and pitch t-rigs and jigs .

I just bought a curado 150 mgl and a tatula sv tw 103. I had thought it was the newest model, but nope. The 2020 model is much smaller and more finesse. The 2017 model is more of a hammer. 2.5lb more drag and a slightly heavier spool.
Unfortunately for me, I wanted more finesse.

I have both of them. The only difference between the two is the new model is smaller and lighter and it keeps its mag brake settings better. Im always accidentally turning the brake dial on the 17 models, it’s really annoying. That doesn’t happen nearly as often with the new model. The max drag i not something I really care about, I’ll never need more than that for my target species. I use it inshore and target speck, flounder, and reds and i rarely need more than 5 pounds of drag

I am super excited for this. (Guess I'll have to contain it until tomorrow) I actually have the Tatula SV TW 103XS paired with my St.Croix MHF Mojo Bass rod. Killer set up! Plus, the purple on that combo 🔥😍!! -fish ON
