    I thought the idea that a chimney removal would make the house 'fall down' was kind of nuts (houses aren't built with a chimney as the main load bearer!). Glad you feel 1000% confidant now. It's sad there's no fireplace, but oh well, it's still an utterly amazing house. I, too, am long-distance giddy over the colors/additions to that product! It would be so hard to choose.
    I'm starting my own home reno (someone else is doing it, I'm just not handy), one room at a time as I save up. It's been messy fun!

    Don't ever be afraid to over-engineer something, at least when it comes to safety. Look at the minimum requirements and see them as a good starting point. I never thought it was going to fall or collapse. I build my blacksmith shop that a helicopter could probably land on (and the most power tool i used was a drill, sawzall, and circular saw). And I did it with 90% reclaimed and re-used materials.

    For the front entry colors;
    SCGR > with a light wood and that wall being a blue and green tint, a softer yellow/green would feel like spring. Overall a very fresh spring morning feel.
    BRGE > the warm browns would make the front entry more cozy, particularly 2.0 of this shade. It will have a heavy, more closed in feel due to the overall brown with lighter accents, though should remain pretty inviting and light.
    SCGE > yellow-greens and soft browns, same as above reasoning.
    Of note, a darker green will feel more "foresty" and lighter will feel more "field". Darker greens make spaces more rich, and lush. A lighter shade generally feels more soothing, refreshing, and crisp.
    Yellows id recommend a more marigold, to make the light wood pop. Yellows will feel more floral, or more like honey. It can feel more visually captivating, bright, and warm. Green feels light and airy, yellow feels more "full".
    SCBR > 4.0 would have a rich wood feel. It would make the beems pop ans with the white window frame it would feel like a cottage
    SCRO/roge > i would avoid these rich reds, personally. The shades of the wall would be pretty "full" and heavy visually. I think it would make the entry feel heavy. However, if you want a more dark, rich, and almost cake feel to the front, it would work well.
    Id point you to;
    GE0 /GE1 /GE2 as it would feel warm and playful and make the front entry "pop"
    GR0 /GR1 /GR2 as they would feel fresh, light, ans open the space up in a more soft way.
    ROGE 2.0 /SCRO 3.0 /SCRO 4.0 for a more rich, heavy, but elegant look.
    GRGE1.0 - GRGE4.2 (all those top two rows) would feel a more diluted version of the GE & GR section
    The colors are grabbed from this page;
    claytec.de/en/product/designer-plaster-surfacer-paint/yosima-clay-surfacer/
    I was unsure what products you were using so tried to find the ones from the beginning of the video
    I am a hobby artist so i thought id share my two sense. Frankly, all the colors on that page would be pretty. I would lean a few shades darker to make the beams pop, or a few shades lighter to make everything feel very bright. Id personally pick a medium green shade like GRGE1.0
    I hope this info gives you more info to make a decision on the wall colors : )

    Oh Laura, I know the Capri Sonne trick. I think I remember that you have to place the bag and step on it in a way, that the first bit of pressure of your foot closes the hole for the straw of so that pressure can build up inside. So either laying it on its side and stepping on the whole(!) upper half (so that there is no way for air to escape but to pop the bottom) should do the trick or placing it upright and stepping on the top.
    That is what I think to remember from doing it myself as a child.

    You bring back memories of the 1950s when every Saturday, my father and I would make the rounds of lumberyards and building centers on the lookout for new building materials to consider for use in his interminable redrafts of ideas for our house. The backyard was redone in 1955, the front in 1957, the basement in 1962 with single room projects in between. There was great use made of t&g 792 detail, stone, aggregate, masonite and slate. Very Sunset Magazine of late-40s/early 50s vintage. Your clay stuff is tweaking my memory banks and there must be one heck of a market for it here in SoCal. Alles beste to you and Felix!

    Suggestion from an architect: find a color close to the beams. The texture and materials will make enough contrast. Also you have white surfaces, an old grey, black steel. I think it would be super pretty with something close to the beams. Maybe with a hint of the grey to tie it all up

    Laura, all thought it would cost you some money I think it is better to take out the whole chimney as that hole that stays there up in the roof is the places for crows and other birds to fall into or build nests or whatever you don't want to have in your roof in the long run. Now still everything is open and so taking it out is not a hassle but if your house is completely finished and you get problems the costs will be higher and complex. Anyway I am in awe of your enthusiasm and work, good luck 🌹

    For the entryway you have a unique opportunity to do some sort of design through time from the wall you’re saving, to the stairs. Imagine what your favorite design elements from each decade of the houses life, and then from oldest to newest along the wall, door, railing wall, until the transition with the clay/aframe. If you identify a theme like wood work, it should be possible to get/ make pieces that go together even if from totally different design eras.

    That Capri Sun scene unlocked sooo many memories! I discovered Capri Sun in Germany when I was like 8 (we didn't have it yet in France) and I clearly remember that we made the pack explode! Did they change the packaging? So frustrating (but also so funny to watch, sorry)

    grey/blue goes with nearly everything so the closer to a grey with a blue tint to it you can get, the less trouble youll have with complimentary colors in the other areas and rooms. good luck!

    German wood frame houses are extremely stable. Our house is currently missing 10 % of the base frame, which means the house walls are 10 % floating above the foundation stones...
    A bigger issue are two broken wood beams inside the house where we know the house dropped 1 cm. Yes, we already have the woodworker, but the German administration is slow to hand out the permission so we can finally start ordering materials...

    For the door, you could use it as a display area for various art pieces. Shallow sculptures or something more two dimensional.

    If you're wanting the highest contrasting colour for brown you'll want to go with a blue, maybe a pastel or sky blue would keep it as bright as you like.

    Always love seeing what you're doing with the house, seeing the sustainable methods that I wish we had access to in the US is pretty amazing. I do like the wood ceiling idea, it's very rustic looking and great if that's what you're going for as a style. I think it would look good, even with a rougher finish, if they were tongue and groove though, it just tightens up the gaps (though they don't look bad as is).

    For the walls I'd go for a neutral colour that's lighter than wood but not bright white. This way the wood and the old plaster become the feature

    Architects make all kinds of stuff up, they are the vision of the project. The structural engineer makes it work. If you need a beam or a post, the architect wont know for sure, but the structural engineer will know. Stay safe, thats the most important thing!

    Where I Live, if the property was sold, it would be raised as something of concern if a mortgage company was invovled. Having seen many suspended chimneys in old houses sag or collaspse over time. I personally still would have removed it all.

    Those juice pouches pop if they still have the juice in them and someone sits on it. When my son was little I put one in my purse, soft leather clutch, and my husband sat on it. It filled my purse with juice. One of the numerous reasons why he is my ex husband.

    If it helps at all -> I always make the color decision by viewing the samples in place. That way any in situ lighting will aid in the best choice.

    I'm not one of those who was telling you the chimney was going to fall down, but having an architect look at it was a great decision!
    On the beams: Maybe a semi transparent white milk paint - brighten up the color, but still show the wood through.

    Take from the 1000 that a good many people are concerned for your safety… the project is great and I’m really enjoying the progress… but… an architect is not a structural engineer. It’s like asking a car designer to take out a gearbox. Two different skills. Anyhow, you’re happy and that’s all that matters in all of this ❤️

    When you pick whatever clay you like, choose one a couple notches whiter (not lighter, but whiter). This will make you happy when it naturally ages, picks up colors, and the oils of life. Also i know how you love your incandescent lights, you will want more white pigment to catch and reflect that warmth.
