This proves Death were ahead of their time. Death Metal is not my favorite metal genre, but there is no denying the musicianship, songwriting and vision these dudes had and they had it in spades.
It was! Death, Obituary, Morbid Angel, Napalm Death, Carcass, Pestilence, Entombed etc etc.... So many bands came out when I was a teenager and it forever shaped my musical interests.

A couple of my friends were friends with the band members, in particular Chuck. We gave "Evil" Chuck a ride to his gig in 1986 at Ruthies Inn in Berkeley. Death Metal/ Hardcore punk scene in the Bay Area was super strong in the 80s. Great show and super cool guy. Those were the days. RIP!
@@DeathmetalZak Just wanted to share an experience from my teenage years my man. I could be off by a year, 85 instead of 86. Cheers!
This is the simplest Death album ever and it's still not easy to play. Their later stuff can only be played by virtuoso's. This is the album that started it all for death metal. Fucking amazing band and Chuck was a riff machine God-Man.
William Koscielniak, all truth in your comments but, I can't help feeling compelled to add to it. ...Chuck was a riff AND LEADS machine God-Man! - not correcting, just adding. 😎👍🎸
Have to disagree, I'm no virtuoso and can handle most of their compositions. Not to bash Chuck or Death or anyone, it's just not that hard to play. Maybe except certain riffs and solos.
Death my favorite death metal band , I love the fact that chuck's voice is understood perfectly ..perfect musicianship and excellent songwriting ...some bands message is drownd amid the senseless screams . Chuck on the contrary made his songs aggressively palatable for everyone, regardless of music taste among us all

Man if there is one band in the world i would have loved to see live then its Death. Sometimes it just annoying being little 13 year old me lol. Rip chuck
+Aenigma X Check out Chthe'ilist, they're one of the best death metal bands to come out recently. Entombed and Edge of Sanity are some other classic death metal bands you should check out, too.
Hey guys i'm a 15 yr old boy , who manly listens to hip hop but i gotta say that scream bloody gore , lepeprosy and spiritual healing really are amazing albums😁
I remember blasting this shit on my headphones in a bus, people around were really uncomfortable cause it was so freaking loud my brain started spasming and just moshing left and right.
It’s kinda crazy how like literally every subgenre of Death Metal came from this album. Regular death, melodic death, death doom (kinda), brutal death (before Cannibal Corpse really shaped the bands that would pioneer it)
Chuck Schuldiner with Sepultura T-shirt.. man that's awesome
+Childin Time real sepultura
Sepultura is focking band
I can't believe when I saw it. It's fuckin' awesome!
They covered this song
Who is Sepultura? =p

Yeah, it's crazy how one man had such a vision.
This album is my favourite genre of metal.
Imagine hearing this when it first came out. Must have been the most brutal shit
It’s not a huge jump from German Thrash.
@@AndDeathForAll82 this is pretty true....kreator, sodom etc. put out some damn heavy shit

I had that privilege. Been a metalhead since the 80´s
@officialkirkhammettTrue! Morbid Visions through Arise all had an impact.
Fuckin love what Relapse has been doing with Death the past years, this band should not be forgotten.
Both is happening

you only start to appreciate it once you are older. im 42 now and it hits me differently like " wtf man. kids!!!!!"
It's quite a shocker Chuck did bass, guitar, and singing.
Entombed on Left Hand Path was in 16-17 yrs
What about early sepultura
Raw, fast, angry. This is Death Metal at its finest.
+Simone Cioppa Pretty much the album that defined death metal.

I was very upset to see that big "SOLD OUT" sign on the Deluxe Edition the day I was going to order it. brought a tear to my eye.
R.I.P Chuck.
Best album to listen to while playing DOOM
I bought this record in 2003 when I was 16. Such a raw, primal record that only hinted at what was to come.
dat riff can wake up the dead
i think thats the point
I had it as my ringtone
R.I.P Chuck
Damn that intro riff is so good! It sounds so wicked and ominous, Chuck isn’t here physically but he lives through huis music 💯
