The thing about Death, is that their lyrics, while some of the most gruesome ever heard, had some basis in truth to them. Look at "Open Casket" for example-it's a hard look at the reality one gets hit with at a funeral. I speak from experience, and it's something many of us can relate to.
"Living Monstrosity" is the cold hard truth about the horror of crack babies.
Death also had a way of making the macabre also somewhat morbidly fascinating.
They're just that good.
This is one of the best metal albums ever without a doubt. It is right up there with Reign in Blood and Leprosy
The leads in this album are beautiful James and Chuck are an amazing duo
Chucks vocals are the best on this album out of all the death albums in my opinion.
spiritual is their best record.
I'd easily say that Human is better in all aspects imo

I've never touch that shit and i'll never will but i know exactly what the substance does and how much suffering is able to spread, probably more than the individuals they were using it themselves.
This just makes me want to buy another Death shirt, they can't win me over so easy.....although those hoodies are nice....and winter is coming up....

What I love about this album is not only the heavy riffs but the solos feeding off each. James and chuck sounded great together it sucks knowing the parted way due to musical differences. James wanted to be more heavy and chuck more progressive and melodic

Hey Eric. I am the bassist in the band Incision that you sent all that Death merch to for the benefit show here in Maryland. Thanks for that! But yea I listened to both versions just now. I think that overall it is more clear now. My mistake. I don't feel like there is too much more lower end but yea def more clear.
In the summer of 1990, I was 14. I walked in to Twisters at East Park Plaza in Lincoln, Nebraska. I bought Grim Reaper Rock You To Hell. The cover art was awesome. I also bought Death Spiritual Healing. When I put Death in to my cassette player. This song came on. I realized at that moment, I needed to hear more. Since then, I have been into Death Metal. I still crank up this entire album.
This masterpiece fits perfectly for any addiction.

The volume of the bass IS NOT lower! It is also no more or less dry than the original. This is a remastering, not a remix. The levels remain the same. The only thing tweaked are frequencies, and believe me that there is more low end evident overall now than on the original. ERIC GREIF

I had a dream a couple days ago that I played this whole song on an electric guitar. I've never played any type of guitar before but god damn was it fucking satisfying just strumming my fingers around and hitting every note!! Love the song even more just because it gave me such a memorable dream.

Chucks vocals are more doom/ thrashy. But conversely the instrumenation is taken to a new level of brutality with blast beats that you didnt really hear on the 2 previous.
