@TechMagnet Hi! Thanks for the informative video, I watched it till the end. I'm confused why others think that gopro is shit compared to the DJI. It would be amazing if you could make a side by side comparison of the JDI's latest and the GoPro 13. 🫶
Thanks for the unboxing and running through the features, together with some filming examples. As a video camera novice, there is such a lot to take in whilst I'm trying to decide which camera to buy. Your video was really helpful.
Hey, I’m definitely switching from GoPro to dji, for many reasons. I cycle vlog my rides, can I ask do I have to switch the dji mic 2 transmitter on every time I press record, or does it stay connected to the camera until I switch the mic off. Genuine question, I really don’t know how it all works as I have only used a lav mic plugged into a media mode for audio. Thanks great review
The OA5P now makes the same as my Ace Pro, it gets really good at night. But the samples I saw from the OA5P have an artificial over sharpening that looks horrible. They will tune it in the next months I guess. Nevertheless don’t expect too much from DJI…
@@TechMagnet Yeah I was thinking something like Honor does on their smartphone. Where you have a few easy sliders to apply the LUT directly in camera with some quick and dirty editing functionality. That is super useful if you need a small adjusted LUT to save upon editing time.
Nice review. The part I liked the most is everyone showing less movement in super night mode which looks nice but as for motovlog it has much grains. This no one showed else than this video. Great. This made me to think twice..
I bought this camera and will likely be returning it. They removed the option to keep the camera screen on all the time when recording. They remove functionality that I find helpful when recording. The lower bitrate is also disappointing.
@@himm67 Well, DJI disagrees with you. DJI directly has confirmed for me that on the Action 5 the screen will NOT stay on the entire time while recording. So I guess you can educate DJI about the menu that you seem to be an expert in. If you are speaking of the Action 4 or previous, you need to pay better attention to what this video is about.
Is the low light jittery with stability on? I’m looking for a small camera to film inside malls and for low or artificial light vlogging and walking tours. I’m seriously considering the Ace Pro but been waiting on this release to compare them. Do you really think it’s as good as the Ace Pro for low light?
Actually, in low light / night, my 2016 released Sony FDR X3000 simply destroys this Action 5, the Action 4 before it and the Ace Pro. Only the Pocket 3 fares better but that's because of the ghimbal. The X3000 has optical stabilisation so... it's like still the king of low light! And it does it in 1080p/4K 30fps. Too bad Sony never did an X4000! I think it would have been "bye-bye" for all the competition as it completely made the gopro 7 black "a toy" when it came to market.
Your comparison on night mode vs regular makes night mode look really bad, looks like one is shot in 4k with little to no noise and the other although a bit brighter 720p with 2000 ISO. Regular might be a bit darker, but basically looks the same as the eye would see it, not sure who would use the night mode if that's how it looks.
TechMagnet@@TechMagnetThanks I ordered mine today but now regretting I should have bought the discounted action 4. Think night time shots are more refined and not hazy from other footage I have seen let's hope it can be corrected in a software updste

@@TechMagnet Absolutely........ they all suck. I have all 3 main action cameras and Sony mirrorless, all of them require a home brew solution to shoot 4k/60 for 90 minutes when in sunlight over 75F.
I don't get why you would use ND filters on this camera. The reason why the stabilization works so well is because it uses a high frame rate. Once the frame rate slows down like at night, you can see the motion blur and it looks ugly.
What's PRO about blown out highlights and halo/outlines on objects against the sky? The AutoExposure adjustments look like a stepped aperature - abrupt af. I have also heard that the ND filters compromise the waterproof seal (ie. leak). The DJI wireless audio and battery life is great on the OA5pro though.

I wonder when they already provide a cube LUT file. Why the camera cannot apply this internally? The chip should be powerful enough.
for what ? people want to have flat d-log for post production. if it applies the lut its gone... In auto mode of course its not flat

Well done review. Is there any effect to the image when using heavy digital stabilization ? Cropping, Pixel Binning, etc ?
yes obviously there is a crop. when you turn on stabilization it shows you the equivalent focal length it can do

How's the microphone quality when used outdoors?
great even the internal one
