As you discovered this is a wonderful area to explore and so close to the city too. We spent time here on our very first trip to the USA quite a few years ago now. The views from the Marin Headlands to the Golden Gate Bridge are really fabulous. Those warnings about wildlife can be a bit disconcerting for us Brits but encounters are usually few and can be exciting moments on the video (if you survive). Warnings of Rattlesnakes are always guaranteed to keep me on the trail. I have only seen a mountain lion once and then only very fleetingly. It was ahead of me on the South Kaibab Trail below the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. You mentioned the cycle signs on the Bridge. Last time we crossed it was on hired cycles and on the east side of the bridge. There were many others doing the same. Brilliant couple of days with near perfect weather. Feeling jealous already.
Hi Ivor, absolutely, the great thing about the park is that it's less than an hour away from San Francisco on the bus, even easier if you have a car. I have seen a few coyotes, a garter snake and plenty of vultures but fortunately no mountain lions nor rattlesnakes!
I like hearing a British guys take on the scary wildlife. I personally have never had an issue so far. I was glad when you said Muir Woods. I was there years ago. I have always been fascinated with the redwood trees. I had no idea those military facilities were there on the coast. They were some nice finds. It looks like you are having a good time here in the US. 👍
I am indeed Craig! Muir Woods was great. And I have an odd fascination with bunkers and old military buildings (there are a lot where I grew up) hence the excitement when I saw these ones 😆

Sneaky camping there. 😁I would not have been able to sleep, worried about rangers, or people or some thing. I would have also told you to hike the dipsea steep ravine trail instead of the mat Davis Trail, there is a really nice waterfall on steep ravine.

It looks like a great place to hike through. The view of the city in the distance when the lights came on was amazing. The chipmunks were so cute - I love seeing them. The wind muffler works really well! The Redwoods are amazing. California is so awesome with the ocean and beaches being nearby everywhere, too. The batteries make for some really convenient places to sleep and shelter along the way. Stay safe, Matt and if you don't have any already, it might be a good idea to get some scent-proof bags to prevent the little critters and bigger critters from coming to visit for a midnight snack. Yay been to this beach! And destroyed my vhs tape! Scouting film locations in CA is just the best. Sounds like you got some nutritious grub! Watch out for those badgers and squirrels! Traditional sandwich, I can see those USA subs jumping up at that classic choice! That muffler is working better than anything on the GoPro12 (about to be returned). Lions, badgers and maybe bears oh my! Lovely red woods, this is definitely California! Love Muir Woods and Beach, we stayed there! The end scene of Goonies was filmed just further North btw (the opening on the opposite coast). Love this area, great memories! Keep these vids coming ❤
