  • In this tutorial, I will show you how to design the 6 DOF industrial robotic arm KUKA kR16. I 'am really fascinated with that type of robot because each part of this robot is a masterpiece.
The Kr16 parts are a little bit complicated, some time I was obliged to use surfacing to design some parts.
you can download this model for free from GrabCad :
    grabcad.com/li...
You can also download this model from the Kuka official download site (this model is a little bit different)
Thank you for watching and if you have any questions be my guest !!

Just discovered you channel. Amazing job. But can be a bit slower. Where can i find the dimensions? I want to draw it too. I look forward for the new videos! Thank you.

I appreciate your consideration demigod special. I created this channel last month to improve my Solidworks skills
For dimensions I already have some measurement, but I don't have them all so I tried to be as close as possible to the real part.
In fact, the KR16 has some complex part, so I used some surfacing tools for that.
I created a playlist (Solidworks kuka) in which I detailed each part.
      thank you again.

Thanks, Ninja. Can you suggest me what kind of bearing should I use for each joints. let me know dimensions too. again thanks for all your hard work.

@@jaganathanramarathinam3113 that's a difficult question because I did'n get the opportunity to disassemble the robot and see what is inside. But if you want to create a medium prototype, I advice you to directly buy an " harmonic drive" for the first 3 axis.
For dimensions I do my best to approximate the dimensions of the real KR16 . However , the are some missing dimensions that I couldn't get.
The most important dimensions are the DH (Denavit-Hartenberg) parameters (the parameters that affect the final TCP position), and its is already provided in the KR16 datasheet

I used Solidworks 2016 to design this robot . You can also find the PTC Creo, Solid Edge 20, STEP / IGES and the STL files on the grabcad link
