I agree that the problem is the Storyline, or lack of. It's related to what's wrong with Phoenix/Jean X-Men movies. We got the stories of the team working together, tackling difficult situations and being individuals that just happened to also have powers. Then Phoenix, then we had the emotions and stakes.
The first 2 phases of the MCU introduced us to each character, how they saw the world and themselves. They also had growth, be it powers, abilities, understanding, or personal... but there was character development. Now it seems they are trying to jump ahead to the ending story without the through line like you mentioned.

An additional problem or related problem is setting these schedule of movies out in these huge batches with definite release dates. It leaves no room for alteration for the most part. And if things like I don't know pandemics or people dying occur you leave yourself no room to deal with these unforeseen circumstances and it becomes a house of cards. They are switching things around and you start to disassemble what was so tightly assembled and you run the risk of things being misaligned and consequential.

This is what I've been saying. Phase 4 would be good if kept the story going, but with everything being so isolated with little to no connections to the previous story. Phase 4 overall feels pointless. In my opinion I believe that Phase 4 should have been an epilogue. It should've tied up any and all loose plot threads from the previous saga and started the process of introducing the Incursion story plots.

I feel like you are on target about the story. Most definitely people drop off of the MCU because they feel like it's changing the characters or not serving a purpose. I feel like the truth is that they are going through comics to help reach the next phases and that's where the story breaks off. The fact that there is no time and effort to build up these characters and the timing for many of them feels like an affront to many only makes it worse. Then again, comics don't transfer well directly and we have seen that too many a time.

they just gave both groups more fuel to the fire....
and they also caved into the cameo fans and channels again instead of the movies and tv shows...because of these things its failing
and how do i know this? in this video shang-chi is the most beloved movie of phase 4 that had none of the previous points, loki even though it was a time travel/multiverse the same thing....gotc vol 3 was beloved for the same reason and in that movie it took a shot at the mcu in a good way unlike shehulk's shot, it was just a joke in the movie not taking up the whole plot
and deadpool is a fourth wall breaking character but imagine if they took his villians built them up and then made them a internet group of westboro church members who said deadpool is the sign of the end times and made central to the plot even thou it makes sense for a character like deadpool? it would tasteless and would of ruined the whole movie

The inclusion of TV shows and other source material, along with the ever-increasing number of plot holes in the Lore, makes following the MCU more and more frustrating. That's why I have much more interest in the release of DC animated movies, since these, even despite some sharing the same universe, are completely independent of each other and I don't have to read and watch hundreds of things before being able to enjoy them. For example, one of the reasons the recent movie "Batman: the Doom that Came to Gotham" was so good is because the movie is so independent and stand-alone, even someone who doesn't know much about Batman could enjoy it

i think that there are three changes that could have saved phase four/ mcu as a whole.
1: cut down one the new characters introduced. we just got done with the biggest battle with the biggest consequences, we don't need new faces, we need to see the effects that infinity war and endame had on the universe as a whole.
2: push back the multiverse/kang as the next bad. again, we just defeated thanos, there should be some breathing room before we start building up our next villain and yet they are already moving toward secret wars at a breakneck sped without enough build up to justify it. there were a couple of movies and shows that used the multiverse but not nearly enough to justify where they are going with it. even looking at the phase five slate, there are still way more earth level movies/ shows that the multiverse kind of feels jarring to focus on.
3: have an avengers movie or some kind of culmination event at the end of phase four. i think there was enough interconnectivity between the ground level heroes to justify one in phase four. it could have been secret invasion or even push back the thunderbolts and make that the final movie of phase four. not every hero needs to showup, we just need a justifiable crossover to make the world still feel connected.

For example putting a major reveal in the Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas special, or putting Kang in Loki it's getting to a point where you have to watch stuff on Disney plus inorder to understand what is going to happen to the next movie also the fact the movies have to build up the next big bad in Kang but also be really inconsistent with his power scaling like apparently he's so strong he managed to wipe out the avengers in multiple timelines to the point where he doesn't even remember how many times he's done it and then having him lose to Ant-Man?

Moonknight was great also Werewolf by Night. I think I enjoyed they were just different that a lot of the other marvel shows/movies I have watched. Im hoping we will see these types of characters build to a dark Marvel team/universe/setting soon like you said they did with avengers
I would love to see more like that in the future. I also like the idea of the What If? cartoon though I didnt love some of what I watched lol
I honest feel after the Thanos stuff the stakes cant *really* get any higher so they need to chill out, we need to drop some expectations a bit and see more smaller scale stories or something quite a bit different then they can build up again. But also I think we as viewers need to realize it will *probably* never be that good again until maybe Xmen or something down the road quite a way.
Honestly another thing is ...a lot of people grew up with the Avengers and loved them but they are getting old and being replaced and most of those replacements arnt iconic. They are just like people who are similar but not what most of us grew up with and there is a lot less enthusiasm with them. That doesnt mean they are inherently bad characters but most people do not care about the replacements.
I also think the death of the actor who played Black Panther screwed Marvel a bit because I think he was going to be a big part of things going forward and was charismatic enough people would see movies he was in and he could be a big part of things going forward.

I think the phase 4 & 5 films and shows could feel a little more connected if they came in a different order, because they had basically 3 or 4 interconnecting tag lines going on at once.
Imagine a world where Black Widow, and Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Hawkeye were all saved until later. They are all building up to Thunderbolts.
And if Loki season 1, 2, Antman, and Avengers Kang Dynasty. That a Kang story saga
And Wandavision, What if?, Spider-Man NWH, and Dr Strange Multiverse of Madness. You've got a through line about Wanda's arc, teaching audiences how to understand the Multiverse, payoff for watching What If? in Dr Strange 2, AND if you save NWH for last an epic finally that adds context to why Dr Strange is afraid of messing with the Multiverse after the spell accidently messes with it.
And I guess you could bundle Shang Chi with Ms Marvel and The Marvels so you'll have all of Brie Larsons appearances together and whatever vague space stuff their setting up.

I'd say one of the big things for me to critique about the MCU is the TV series, that somewhat continues the movie plotlines, I don't have anyway outside of piracy to watch them, as I don't have very good internet nor money as a poor college student, and here in South Africa, their is no broadcasts of any Disney+ I can just sit and watch, usually my family gets a movie or 2 for my birthday, but that's it, so I find it very hard to keep up with the more recent stuff around the TV series, and that puts me out of wanting to watch the MCU as a whole, while just sitting on RUclips or even just the internet I'll get notifications about the stories and since it involves the MCU that just breaks the flow for me, kinda hard to get invested in the plot if I have to watch over a week's worth of TV shows to know the character motivations and reasons for being there in the first place.

This was a great take and I believe is generally shared by most die hard comic fans and the new casual MCU fans. The very thing that created the beast is the same thing that slayed it: money
Prior to phase one, the 'Rights War' (Sony v Marvel/Disney) had comic book movies dead (I'm stilly salty for the lack of respect and 'non- thank yous' that neither organization gave Blade prior to IM1). With new money and some lucky 'got it right' casting, Ph1 and Ph2 had exactly what Bro. Ben shared: a centralized theme.
As things progressed and we the consumer kept throwing our dollars at the big screen and on toys and merch, the House of Mouse became infected with the age old greed plague and forgot how they got to their mountain of success in the first place. You have to have money AND simple competent writing and story telling.
It's almost like what happened to Family Guy (bear with me on this analogy). Season 1-3 was fresh funny and written well, though Fox cancelled it a few times. Season 4-8 (a little 9), you had a pinnacle and then the decline began as the demand increased (Macfarland OWNED Sunday evening after the NFL) but things spun out of control (American Dad got terrible and the Cleveland Show was She-Hulk bad). Again, once we get to certain levels of success, you forget about the competent things that work. Jokes started to just arrive w/o context and then (worse of all) forced jokes arrived to 'demand' laughs (they started writing bits in about everyday life that isn't even remotely funny, but the thought of referencing them in a tv broadcast "supposedly" makes them funny ((see Thor 4, which really had the potential to be great or at least much better than what we got))
Not to mention the expansion of social (not political but social; politics relates to the gov. affairs of a country) agendas of writer's, producers, and directors with boat loads of cash to create what they want instead of sticking to what the consumer wants. We (consumers) did very well with our outcry and displeasure of the last 6 years of Star Wars evil that was thrown our way, but failed to do so with the MCU, though we are slowly catching on.
In order to gather the change we need, we need to sway Disney shareholders, and that's only done one way: stop giving them money.
