General Grevious in 2003 clone wars: takes on multiple Jedi at once and manages to kill 2
Grevious in new clone wars: oh no there’s a Jedi on my ship, I must flee this entire solar system.
I mean he also fled once and tried to flee once in Revenge of The Sith. George Lucas’ interpretation of Grievous was totally different to that of the 2003 Clone Wars miniseries, which the miniseries got wrong.
@@Darktrooper99 To be fair, they designed the character of Grievous for that show. And they based him off of George's designs and descriptions for the character. He described Grievous to Genndy as a ruthless jedi killer and Genndy ran with that idea. Not his fault for George not showing that very well in ep.III (though the shaak ti scene could have helped add to the darkness of his character) and focused on him running the one time. The cgi show ran with that idea to make him kid friendly, but George did canonize many comics and books that add to Genndy's version of a more ruthless killer. I highly recommend the General Grievous short series by Chuck Dixon. Dark character development there.

The cartoon is heavily exaggerated. The jedi are OP, the clones are OP, and driods are OP. So obviously, grevious is also gonna be heavily op. When everyone's power was taken down a notch in the 2008 series and in episode 3, grevious' was too.

My favorite moment from the 2003 CW?
Palpatine being escorted down an elevator by clones and Jedi and then they notice Grievous running down the wall keeping pace with the elevator. How do the clones respond? One of them smoothly and calmly loads his rocket launcher then “matter-of-factly” shoots Grievous in the face with it from inside the elevator.

I always thought that Tartakovsky's Clone Wars mini-series is way better than the CW animated show. It is more artistic, tells its story quite maturely and captures the feeling of clone wars so perfectly
Ahh, I love CW too but I also love TCW a FRICK TON as well! They're both incredibly artistic in their own ways. I always loved the gorgeous matte-painted backgrounds of a lot of TCW's episodes, all the visual effects and even maaany of the show's character models looked so on point. More in line with the movies while still standing out and being their own, stylistic, thing at the same time! And I thought TCW was also pretty maturely-told too. It appealed to a more younger crowd while still treating children as intellectuals. For me, TCW captures the feeling of the war perfectly, to a T, but I love them both to hell and back!! :D
While CW is great at visual storytelling, with amazing music, I disagree on it being better then the later show. Not only was it less over the top and more in line with the films, (I like action as much as the next guy, but it's not everything) it also had more time to go into detail about the state of the galaxy; Ahsoka's development into maturity, Palpatine's growing power & gradual manipulation of the Republic, Jedi Council and Anakin, Anakin's, Obi-Wan's and by extension the Jedi's descent into darkness, weariness with the war, and a greater display of the Clones humanity. Speaking of, I wouldn't call Bombastic's opinion of their portrayal as comical, since they are at the center of the show's heaviest moments. Seeing them as being more then just a precise military machine, and how they were eventually stripped of that, reduced to an uncaring tool by a callous Sith plot was a crucial element of the show after all.
For me, I've always seen the 2003 version as the exaggerated stories told to kids about the war and the Jedi pretty much saying they're gods. It's more like folktales told to kids what the galaxy thought the Jedi were like while TCW showed a more brutal and grounded look at the world, since in reality the Jedi were not as powerful as people thought. Of course this is far from the truth but its an interesting watch when you look at it as exaggerated folktales rather than the canon look of the Clone Wars which The Clone Wars 2008 pulled off great being more grounded and less over the top. Honestly, the only real reasons to watch this series is for a couple character introductions and the one single episode of Mace Windu literally doing things that no Jedi or Sith could do outside of a Superman comic.
What I love and prefer about the main Clone Wars show is that it takes us into the daily lives of the characters I love like Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka, with every moment not having to necessarily be a "Star Wars moment", a destiny type of moment. I appreciate the micro series for what it is, but I definitely just appreciate the proper series more. I absolutely love the voice acting of Matt Lanter and Dee Bradley Baker! Either way, animated Star Wars in general isn't too widely received by the audience, even to this day sadly, but regardless, they are BOTH immensely gorgeous works of art and fantastic and underrated gems among the Star Wars franchise! Love 'em both a ton!!
And in addition, 2003 feels like fanfic which it is in a way (made by fans AKA Genndy Tartakovsky being a fan of Star Wars), everyone being overpowered, everyone acting like fighting in a war is no big deal, just action for the sake of it. It doesn't fit into the movies at all because if you're going off that then why doesn't anyone act like this in the movies? I love the show but the show felt like it depicted everyone as super heroes/villains where they can go into massive hordes and take everyone out without a problem, no matter how powerful both sides are they are very vulnerable in their own way. 2008 feels realistic and in-universe because it builds off the movies, everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, everyone can't be in massive groups due to resource management, you had moments where someone as powerful as Obi-wan and Anakin can be badly damaged in crashes leaving them vulnerable because the Jedi are not super heroes and can easily get taken down which is why Order 66 makes sense, it ties into the movies which is so perfect.
2008 TCW just simply has waaay more going for it, 7 Seasons with over 13 years of amazing content! I love the 2003 clone wars but I wouldn't say one show is better than the other. The Clone Wars 2008 is a lot closer to the movies while the 2003 show is just over exaggerated which isn't bad. I personally see it as folklore, the stories of the Jedi and the Clone Wars told to kids who exaggerated the Jedi to be powerful Gods and saw the Clone Wars as nothing more than battles of clones and droids running at each other with zero tactics whatsoever.
@@Vandicoup I don't know man... it's easy to attack SWCW, it is over the top and they characters don't talk much but there's still a lot of things I prefer over TCW.
SWCW makes the Galaxy feel big and colorful, in TCW we see almost everything being done by Anakin and his friends. It makes it seem like no one really does much besides them but somehow they can handle the entire galaxy one their own. Episodes like the one with Ima-Gun Di were exceptions while we saw so many perspectives in a very short time in SWCW.
TCW overall feels kinda naive.
There's a very big imbalance between the two sides. Grievous is not impressive at all and the droids are fools. In SWCW a bunch of Jedi get killed by Grievous and Asaij Ventress is a good match for Anakin. You say that in SWCW the war doesn't feel threatening to the Jedi but I think while the Jedi do absolutely dominate the droids they are always serious. In TCW they joke around all the time while (blank) clones are getting shot left and right. It doesn't seem very wise or Jedi at all.
TCW also has some silly plots like how they copied from Alien.
And I think Anakin was integrated really well into SWCW. I don't think there is a single moment in TCW were Anakin shows his passion for building things but in SWCW he has built his own starfighter and he builds his new robot hand. It really draws a connection between the younger and the older Anakin while TCW focussed so much on Ahsoka.
@@Vandicoup You can't possibly be serious. Even for a cartoon, CW treats the war with a much more serious tone than TCW. On the later, Anakin is totally out of character and there are way too many encounters with Dooku and Coughing Grievous. CW is responsable for actually showing us important things, like how Anakin got R2, how he became a Jedi Knight, Grievous and Asajj Ventress are properly introduced, how Palpatine was kidnapped and why Grievous coughs so much during Ep. III. Also CW shows Skywalker flirting with the dark side in a more believable way than TCW, where he jokes all the time, but sometimes feel the impulse to choke someone. TCW is also way too overpowered. You really don't expect a single jedi to be hit by a Droid. However I must say that CW has his own cartoonish power levels, that can be subject to likes or dislikes. I love it. It's a cartoon, not a movie. On top of all that, CW does an amazing job linking Ep II to Ep III, introducing amazing new villains and all in (almost) perfect harmony with what had been established before with only 2 hours. TCW has 6 seasons, a bunch of fillers, contradiction after contradiction (you may not be a fan of the old EU, but that was disrespectful as f*ck), almost no original interesting plot or villain (except maybe for Cad Bane, who's insanely overpowered, btw) and some pretty questionable choices in order to give us some fan services.

@@chaosthegod I have to 100 percent agree with you @chaosthegod because I literately stopped watching TCW after season 3 as I hated the whole bringing Darth Maul back like WTF Maul is dead in my opinion and brining him back ruins Obi-Wan's ascension to Knighthood. Kenobi's defeat of Darth Maul was the entire reason why Kenobi became a Knight because he was the first Jedi to defeat a Sith in one thousand years and as a Padawan no less yes I said it a Padawan. Anakin Skywalker is not even the same Anakin from the Prequels at all and anyone who argues that fact is crazy and doesn't know the character. Also having Anakin vs Dooku multiple times in TCW ruins Dooku's line in Episode 3. Anakin and Dooku never fought between 2 and 3 and I follow the original expanded universe hell I grew up with it and it is my true and only continuity that I follow. Also I hate the character of Ahsoka flat out despise her. Also TCW is filled with contradiction after contradiction and retcon after retcon. I haven't watched Rebels or Mandalorian nor am I going to. I tried watching Obi-Wan Kenobi and I ended up vomiting for real halfway through the series as it was soo bad it pissed me off. The Sequel Trilogy is trash and always will be. If I want to know what happens Post Return of the Jedi I'll read New Jedi Order and Legacy of the Force. But Star Wars Clone Wars 2003 is and always will be my go to Clone wars series and I never get tired of watching and screw TCW.
I like how the micro series made nearly all of the characters very powerful and get shown off in action.
exaggerated as hell but honestly isn't that how a child of the galaxy would see the Jedi and Clone Wars hear tales of the Jedi and dream of these battles. That's my head canon as much as I love the 2003 show it doesn't felt beside the movies and other media but it does felt into the dreams of the children.

This series has great action because it's made by Genndy Tartakovsky, the same guy who directed Samurai Jack. It's incredibly clear just looking at the art style in the two shows. I feel like a lot of the environments and characters could be put from one show to the other and most people wouldn't bat an eye.
I actually remember Cartoon Network ran a poll competition to let the fans chose a character to appear in the series. We had the choice between an Ithorian, the white trumpet face guy, or a wolf man Voolif Monn, which would then be a Jedi character that appeared in the first volume final episode. Voolif won and was placed into the show followed by a second cameo appearance in the first Vol. 2 episode. Ironically the ones who didn't win were used in the Chancellor kidnap sequence on Coruscant as Jedi Grievous mowed down to get Palatine.
The whole corasaunt battle was so epic
I just now realized that in all of the other scenes with water around lightsabers they never pointed out the fact that it would constantly be steaming, even in Rise of Skywalker during the fight between Kylo and Rey when they are fighting next to the ocean. I also noticed that in the scenes with Kit Fisto under the water, it was really annoying to me at first that the animation looked so different but then I realized it was the heat steaming/boiling the water around his lightsaber, along with the later Yavin scene with Anakin and Ventress. The mix of sound design and visuals for those little details really does make that series unique.
Fun fact, in the 2008 TCW they couldn't add too many bubbles throughout their entire Battle of Mon Cala arc because the budget couldn't afford it at the time. They talk more about it in their featurette that you can find on RUclips of the entire Mon Cala arc in S3 (if I remember right?) of TCW.
The battle in the Windu episode was on Dantooine, the boy is named Paxi Sylo, and he later drew anti-Imperial graffiti around Dantooine (and likely was a part of the Rebel Alliance based there)
I grew up with this show. So glad I can watch it again. Made me love someone like Fordo and the Clones in general
Love the old grievous. The new clone wars one is inconsistent; sometimes he’s fighting a Jedi council member and kicking their ass, other times he’s fighting padawans and losing to Ahsoka Tano
that last bit is what killed any hope of me liking TCW. i watched season 1, to see what all the fuss was about, and my suspension of disbelief went out the door with that. i mean, it's not like Dave Filoni cared about George Lucas' Rule of Two (using Asajj Ventriss, rather than leaving her out, and the Inquisitors from Rebels), so it's not like he could have just invented someone else for Ahsoka to fight that would give her a challenge but not kill her (like Grievous' bodyguard droids, and you don't even have to break the Rule of Two for that one!)
@@OneTrueVikingbard Dave Filoni didn’t create Asajj Ventress, she’s one of the characters they used from legends of characters they used from legends. And she’s absolutely amazing, watch the 2003 clone wars, she has a great introduction. And you see George even explained this when he explained the rule of two, he said sometimes Sith apprentices aren’t strong enough to take on the master, so they train their own apprentice, once they kill the master there’s two again, and the cycle continues, that’s George’s Rule of Two, little different from Darth Bane’s in lore but it’s still the same. Not to mention bro Darth Sidious himself trained Darth Maul as a Sith assassin/apprentice while Darth Plagueis was alive, and Dooku during the Clone Wars had Dark Acolytes who were Jedi who fell to the dark side during the clone wars, they weren’t Sith, just dark Jedi who served Count Dooku and the Separatists, they were kind of like Separatist Jedi, my point is Sidious probably wanted to dispose of the Rule of two anyways, he used whatever he could get, as long as he got the power he craved, all the masters before him probably cared about the rule of two more than him

Bringing back Darth Maul undercut Obi-wan’s triumph from The Phantom Menace. Plus Filoni turned him into a whiny little b1tch. Hard pass.
Obi-wan and Satine (or whoever he’s with) is super sus, because Filoni basically flipped off George’s rule that the Jedi don’t have attachments by saying that they can engage in attachment-free “prostitution.” But this is not the only example of Filoni over-exaggerating and focusing exclusively on “flaws” just to make the Jedi evil (see also Pong Krell). HUGE hard pass.
Ahsoka in general rubs me the wrong way. Total Mary Sue. Like even Batman and Rey are going “she’s more perfect than me”. Astronomically hard pass.

The entire show exists to retcon the prequels (Anakin turns into a completely different person vs. how he was in Attack and Revenge). That is why everyone loves it, because they’re still of the opinion that everything in it was “bad” and “needed fixing.” It didn’t, and that mindset is what gave us the Disney Star Wars films. Definitely hard pass.
Man, I remember being so hyped for this. Literally waited weeks in anticipation.
That night came, I got a bowl of popcorn...and then I learned the episodes were 3 minutes long each.
But the adrenaline rush from it had my friends and I going for years.

Man, the early 2000's were like the golden age for cartoons I mean you had Star Wars Clone Wars, the original Ben 10 and so, so many more.
The episode in which Obi-Wan deploys the ARC Troopers during the siege of Muunilinst is definitely my favorite. Captain Fordo and his team really showcase the clones at their absolute military best. Silent, deadly, and focused on the mission. None of the clones say a word during the whole mission. Everything is communicated through hand signals and there's no force-wielding Jedi or Sith to steal the spotlight.
I have the 2D Clone Wars series on DVD 💿🤩. So many great moments that are not in any of the movies: The knighting ceremony, how Anakin got his scar, the crystal caves / temple on Ilum, assembling a lightsaber using the Force (which could explain why they are unique to Force users), the stylistically mind-blowing Anakin-Asajj fight, how Grievous got his cough, and so much more.
While I LOVE The Clone Wars (2008-2020), we got a way better story in the 2003 Clone Wars. But in the new one, we just got more characters and a bit more development. Which isn’t a bad thing. But I honestly prefer the older one.
Fair enough! But...just a bit more of development tho?? I thought there was pleeenty of development in TCW too lol! Though we, sadly, never got to see Anakin become knighted in TCW, we did however see more of his gradual descent to the Dark side all the way 'till we see him in his frickin' VADER suit at the very end!! In addition, we also got plenty of development in Star Wars's newest and biggest character at the time, Ahsoka Tano! There was soo much development for those two, especially for the newer characters like Ahsoka and Rex. Dave has said that he didn't want to touch legacy characters like Anakin and Obi-Wan TOO much since that was George's thing and he didn't want to inadvertently re-contextualize the movies too much, as a result, so he wanted to just keep it in line with all the movies. But I still thought we got plenty more development from both Ani and Obi, especially in episodes like the Mortis trilogy!

I have the first volume on dvd and remember watching it a long time ago, general grievous is probably one of my favorite starwars characters because of this
I have TCW on DVD. These had a small print run because they disappeared pretty quick. I had to hunt down volume 2 finding it used.
I remember watching the Ewok movie specials on TV as a teen. They were pretty good and I think hold up pretty well.
Favorite moment? So many: the duel on Yavin, Grievous' big intro, R2, Yoda and Padme teaming up, the war montages, the battle of Coruscant from Grievous just swarming the city to Mace CRUSHING Grievous like a pop can.

For some reason, I laughed out loud at Yoda the first time I saw the attack on Coruscant when Mace rushes in and says "The city is under attack!"

My favorite parts are any time Windu fights hand to hand. Punching like the Flash. Just fun to watch.

Man. I just rewatched this. I remember way back then, we didn't have cable tv and so I didn't know about it. Then, one day we were visiting family friends at their house, and they allowed me to watch some cartoon network... and this suddenly popped up. I was utterly amazed, but incredibly sad that it only lasted three minutes! I remember I begged my parents to go to their house, so that I could watch more. Years later, I finally was able to rent the dvd with the two volumes. And now they're on D+. To be honest, it was these cartoons that made me fall in love with animation, and made me want to do it myself.
I love rewatching all the battles.
But I need the return of the blue arcs and Fordo. Something we need to see more in cannon. Serious elite clone troopers looking awesome. Maybe bad batch will show this with those green visor clones.

I have Disney+, but 2003 Clone Wars doesn't seem to be available: I've looked through the Star Wars page and it's not there, and I've tried searching "Clone Wars" but it only brings up the 2008 movie and series, and Attack of the Clones. I've also tried looking it up on google, which had a link to the show on D+, but when I followed it, I briefly see the summary before it does that loading thing (like when the tab reloads in the morning or something) except it doesn't stop and keeps loading eternally. T.T

I used to watch it on RUclips like once a year because some people uploaded the series in one long episode. I wasn't sure if it was actually good or not, I just knew I was jaded because it was such a nostalgia trip for me. I remember watching them every week when they'd come out when I was like 12 or 13

I haven't watched this properly but I've seen sences with grevious and mace Windu i remember the assajj ventress episode the predator reference and the fantastic Duel between her and anakin. I grew up with StarWars The Clone Wars I definitely want to give this a try reminds me of Samurai Jack.
While this show is great at visual storytelling, with amazing audio like you said, I disagree on it being better then the later show.
Not only was it less over the top and more in line with the films, (I like action as much as the next guy, but it's not everything) it also had more time to go into detail about the state of the galaxy; Ahsoka's development into maturity, Palpatine's growing power, Anakin's descent into darkness, Obi-Wan, and by extension the Jedi's, wearyness with the war, and a greater display of the Clones humanity. Speaking of, I wouldn't call their portrayal as comical, since they are at the centre of the shows heaviest moments.
Seeing them as being more then just a precise military machine, and how they where eventually stripped of that, reduced to a uncaring tool by a callous Sith plot was a crucial element of the show after all, so considering that a plus, is kinda weird to me, and I've had this show on dvd for years.
I've always saw the 2003 version as the exaggerated stories told to kids about the war and the Jedi pretty much saying their gods. Of course this is far from the truth but its an interesting watch when you look at it as exaggerated folktales rather than the canon look of the Clone Wars which the Clone Wars 2008 pulled off great being more grounded and less over the top.

So kinda creepy that just yesterday, without having Disney Plus or any knowledge about it coming there, I decided to watch the first episode of CW 2003 for the first time in years. Also spent the better part of the day wondering why no one appreciates CW 2003 for the stellar work of art that it is, or ignoring it completely to worship the Filoni series. Then you upload this video. I thank you but I'm still creeped out.
As one of those Filoni/TCW worshippers, I couldn't agree more that CW deserves to be talked about more too, and it has been! This show was my childhood (along with the Clone Wars animated series).
It's funny because when the prequels came out, I wasn't quite the Star Wars fan I am now, so I didn't watch this or the Clone Wars afterwards. It wasn't until The Force Awakens came out that I really started to reintroduce myself to this lost media and finding the ENTIRE Clone Wars series for sale at the local pawn shop for only $60 really got me going. It was then I found out about this series and it took me for-frickin-ever to get them on DVD because it had been so long that you couldn't get them without paying through the nose, but I waited and waited and was finally able to get them for really good prices.
Honestly, the only real reasons to watch this series is for a couple character introductions and the one single episode of Mace Windu literally doing things that no Jedi or Sith could do outside of a Superman comic.
Remember on Coruscant when Fordo calls for reinforcements. Am like if your not reinforcements then i don't know what is.
God this was my childhood. When I was little I had a DVD copy of the first set of episodes and would always watch it during car rides but I never got the second set so I never knew what happened. Also at the time it was one of only two sources of star wars that I had, the other being lego clone wars 3 for the Nintendo DS, so I still rember a time when the information that Anakin became evil shocked my brother. Anyways I love this series and am so happy that it's getting recognized!

This Clone Wars series did more for Star Wars than Filoni's series ever did. Not only does it have better Continuity with the films, keeps characters consistent, and ties Episode II and III together brilliantly, but Genndy and his team actually also animated the Opening crawl of Episode III itself. It should also be noted that the 2003 Clone Wars series was part of what was known as the Clone Wars Multi-media project which consisted of books, comics, video games, and this series to not just promote Revenge of the Sith, but actually give the film solid tie-in material. The Multi-media project was also when the Expanded Universe/Legends was at it's strongest.
Though we, sadly, never got to see Anakin become knighted in TCW, we did however see more of his gradual descent to the Dark side all the way 'till we see him in his frickin' VADER suit at the very end!! In addition, we also got plenty of development in Star Wars's newest and biggest character at the time, Ahsoka Tano! There was soo much development for those two, especially for the newer characters like Ahsoka and Rex. Dave has said that he didn't want to touch legacy characters like Anakin and Obi-Wan TOO much since that was George's thing and he didn't want to inadvertently re-contextualize the movies too much, as a result, so he wanted to just keep it in line with all the movies. But I still thought we got plenty more development from both Ani and Obi, especially in episodes like the Mortis trilogy!
And ahh, I love CW too but I also love TCW a FRICK TON as well! They're both incredible and artistically GORGEOUS MASTERPIECES in their own rights! I've always loved the insanely beautiful and detailed matte-painted backgrounds of a lot of TCW's episodes, all the visual effects and even maaany of the show's character models looked so on point. More in line with the movies while still standing out and being their own, stylistic, thing at the same time! And I thought TCW was also pretty maturely-told too. It appealed to a more younger crowd while still treating children as intellectuals. For me, TCW captures the feeling of the war perfectly, to a T, but I love them both to hell and back!! :D

What I love and prefer about the main Clone Wars show is that it takes us into the daily lives of the characters I love like Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka, with every moment not having to necessarily be a "Star Wars moment", a destiny type of moment. I appreciate the micro series for what it is, but I definitely just appreciate the proper series more. I absolutely love the voice acting of Matt Lanter and Dee Bradley Baker! Either way, animated Star Wars in general isn't too widely received by the audience, even to this day sadly, but regardless, they are BOTH immensely gorgeous works of art and fantastic and underrated gems among the Star Wars franchise! Love 'em both a ton!!
And in addition, 2003 feels like fanfic which it is in a way (made by fans AKA Genndy Tartakovsky being a fan of Star Wars), everyone being overpowered, everyone acting like fighting in a war is no big deal, just action for the sake of it. It doesn't fit into the movies at all because if you're going off that then why doesn't anyone act like this in the movies? I love the show but the show felt like it depicted everyone as super heroes/villains where they can go into massive hordes and take everyone out without a problem, no matter how powerful both sides are they are very vulnerable in their own way. 2008 feels realistic and in-universe because it builds off the movies, everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, everyone can't be in massive groups due to resource management, you had moments where someone as powerful as Obi-wan and Anakin can be badly damaged in crashes leaving them vulnerable because the Jedi are not super heroes and can easily get taken down which is why Order 66 makes sense, it ties into the movies which is so perfect.
2008 TCW just simply has waaay more going for it, 7 Seasons with over 13 years of amazing content! I love the 2003 clone wars but I wouldn't say one show is better than the other. The Clone Wars 2008 is a lot closer to the movies while the 2003 show is just over exaggerated which isn't bad. I personally see it as folklore, the stories of the Jedi and the Clone Wars told to kids who exaggerated the Jedi to be powerful Gods and saw the Clone Wars as nothing more than battles of clones and droids running at each other with zero tactics whatsoever.
I do understand why some may like the 2003 Clone wars series better than the 2007 version, but in my opinion the 2007 series is vastly superior. Of course I'm not biased, for example the 2003 series has constant action badass moments. It made characters like General Grevious, Asajj Ventress, Count Dooku, Arc Troopers, Captain Fordo and many more characters done SO well that are rather non existent or not nearly as powerful in the 2007 series. This show is probably what started many fans to start liking the prequels (and as stated in the video became the inspiration into the 2007 series). However, here are the reasons why I think the 2007 series is better: 1. Plot/Story: The 2003 series doesn't really have any sort of story, its just action, which by no means is bad, but means there isn't much feeling to get invested to it, just something that would be good to watch in some spare time. 2007 on the other hand has an actual story, and a fairly good one in my opinion. It does skip around frequently and there are some boring episodes, but that's because there's suppose to be. Star Wars isn't just plain war, there's politics, a bit of romance, deception, and much more that makes you get invested to the story. 2. Characters: This one is a bit of a tie. 2003 has badass characters like Captain Fordo, General Grevious, etc. They seem so powerful and ruthless and it really makes an impression on you, but other than seeing the extent of how powerful they are, they don't have any emotion. The clones for example, no emotion in their voice, quiet 99% of the time except on some occasions, the only one that stands out is Captain Fordo but even he is practically emotionless. Everyone in the show seems so calm and formal like there isn't a literal galactic war going on. The 2007 series had character and especially character development, there was emotion and feeling in practically every single character in the show, even if they only have a few minutes of screen time. It made you feel sad when a random clone died even if it was just the way they fell to their deaths, whereas in the 2003 series, its just a silent fall and that's it. I could get more specific in this category but you get the idea. 3. Logic: This one is probably the one that really sets me off in terms of the other categories. As much as it is really cool to see such largescale battles, it's also kina off-putting by how they execute it. For example, why tf does every single droid practically explodes when they're shot? Mace Windu coming in with a black belt in martial arts destroys droids like butter even when the screen shows a thousand of them surrounding him. Even the way the Jedi fights grevious is so weird, absolutely grevious playing with them like animals was pretty cool witnessing but DAMN the jedi had no different forms they could use or couldn't swing in any other direction other than straight forward. Bottom line with it is that there is so much going on that makes it so cool in one aspect, but so unrealistic in another aspect as it just doesn't make much sense, especially when compared to the 2007 series. The 2007 series had a fair amount of logic in it, obviously plot armor was shown as it is in every show, but not nearly as hard as 2003. Battle of Geonosis, Battle of Umbara, Battle of Kamino, Space battles, and so on are all good examples of an actual battle taking place. The clones and jedi had a difficult time getting into those planets/winning it over or defending it when attacked. Whereas in the other series it would simply show the clones ramming through it like nothing. To be very specific in a battle of 100 clones vs 100 droids in the 2003 series, the clones would win with MAYBE 10 casualties at most. In the 2007 series with the same scale, clones would still win but at a much higher cost. Bottom line, both are great series and overall very enjoyable to watch, and if you like the 2003 series more there's nothing wrong with that. In my opinion I prefer the 2007 series for the main reasons listed above but in the end we can all agree....that it's nothing compared to the abomination of the sequels :)
I would argue that TCW is more consistent and one reason is the action and mannerisms of the Jedi and everything about CW in general. It's just way too over the top, and while I do completely understand the intentions and style and even love and enjoy it to an extent, it's just not realistic to the main saga SW movies. It's more along the lines of legendary, folktale stories told by grandparents or dreamed of my children who've all heard of the war but never truly seen it for themselves. I do like that other explanation for CW, it's not a bad thing whatsoever, tbh! And while quality can be argued, I would say overall TCW did way, waaay more for SW than CW ever did, because of it's mainstream popularity. The amount of love and support you see for it is truly astonishing. It's literally spawned an entire generation of new Star Wars fans and you see countless TCW cosplays all over social media as well as SWC and it's truly a dream come true to see it all come to life in the live action projects and all over convention centers. And various video essays, RUclips channels and individual social media posts have garnered hundreds of thousands of subs, likes, views and even into the millions! There's an absolute SHAT ton who love TCW and Dave has become a super star, rightfully so, in the SW franchise. TCW even had George Lucas all over it from day 1. He created and started the entire show to begin with! While Dave continued on the legacy, developing it, expanding it, fleshing it out and then some. The show has since left an immense impact on SW and continues to do so to this day with Mando S3, Tales of the Jedi, The Bad Batch and more! So sad to see CW not get nearly enough recognition, but I have seen various articles and other equally viral posts made about it too!!! Honestly, they're both the best. They are both underrated and masterpiece gems of the entire franchise. Star Wars animation as a whole is still not watched by nearly enough people but TCW has made strides in hooking in more and more fans into animation and we have gotten several animated shows as a result! TCW made Rebels, TBB, Resistance and Tales of the Jedi happen! Shows that feature TCW characters, like Mando and TBOBF, have also helped draw in even more viewership to TCW, and thanks to Disney+, to CW as well!! They are both the absolute BEST, I couldn't possibly say what's better and what's not, in all honesty. 😌🙏💝

I watched both the 2003 and 2008 series of Clone Wars. My favourite episode from 2008 Clone Wars is Mystery of a Thousand Moons. I think it's a shame the 2003 series is now non-canon. I really liked the episode which Anakin and Obi-Wan are on Nelvaan and Anakin gets covered in blue tattoos and sets off on a spiritual quest. It set the stage for Revenge of the Sith. The problem with cartoons today is that it's all computer animation and some cartoons today look poorly drawn as if they were drawn by 2 years olds and reboots of classic cartoons such as He-Man. Thundercats etc. have failed to live up to the hype. The only cartoon I've watched lately which I liked and thought was actually was good and original was Boxed Warriors which was Toy Story meets WWE. Sadly it ran for only 1 season. I would love to see Funko make a Pop of Anakin Skywalker with his Nelvaan tattoos from the 2003 Clone Wars and I don't see why Funko can't make the 2003 Clone Wars into Pops. 2003 Clone Wars was animated television at it's best and better than most of the garbage on TV today.
