Thank you very much. I learn in an automatic car so I don't have to mess with gears. Unfortunately I do have this problem with indicating. I wondering if taking my hand off the wheel completely would eliminate this as I never seem able to eradicate the problem even with a looser grip. Do yo have any suggestions at all please? Thanks.
Hello Tina. I advice my pupils to indicate by extending their finger so they still have their hands on the wheel
@@dtc_uk Many thanks for your reply. I look forward to having a watch of more of your videos from your collection.
I was badly scolded by my instructor for this very reason. He told me to not to look at gears. I don’t look at gears at all. I feel the position of the gear with my hand. Now I know the Reason : I hold the steering wheel too tight.
I will now hold the steering wheel like holding two raw eggs. Then I will get back to you with my feedback.
yes, dont brake those eggs

Drive safely
I found this particular video very helpful as I have noticed that I struggle with keep the steering wheel straight when changing gears. The vehicle in some instances drifts to the left as I look at the gears especially if I have selected the wrong one and then in some instance the vehicle drifts to the right because I hold the steering wheel tight. I think more than anything its nerves as I've just recently started driving lessons. Thank you so much, you have no idea how helpful this video has been. Sending my love from South Africa xx
Thanks you for commenting
This video was very interesting and I do think the reason why I drift left or right is whilst changing gears I'm looking down. I've been told not to hold the steering lightly but that's how I feel most comfortable. If I hold it too tight I find the movement is too rigid and not smooth. Well al have to keep practicing and perfect it.
Great advice
Perfect explanation, thank you
