    Oh boy oh boy. was about to go off on you Jacob when your thumb nail said it was her fault. Cuz you have not been married long enough to know it is never her fault or you might find yourself living in the doghouse. 🤣 My brother came to see me once and asked where is Solx. she said he is in the doghouse Cuz he thought he won the argument.😁 I like tying flys for fishing. I was in the doghouse so much I put my fly-tying equipment there.🤣🤣🤣
    PostScript; it was odd my brother knew excatlly where I was when she said that.😂 Life is full of precious moments.❤

    You two are amazing, I have the highest respect for you both. There is one thing for sure, being a retired builder, I can see where you are going to have a very well built home, your attention to detail is admirable. Of all the homestead/off grid adventures out there, yours and one more are definitely at the top of my list. I look forward to your video every week when we get home from worship. Your little ones are learning some very valuable lessons from you both, and that is fantastic.

    For a guy that loves to build stuff, it sounds like a right decision. I used to buy and store materials for my future projects until I couldn't seem to get the help to do them. I'm an older gal so guess I'll just learn my lesson.
    Thanks for a nice video.

    That class 6 AB basalt is the roadbase I was told to use. I had bought a cinder-based version but BBQ Ray said the cinders crush over time so go with basalt at a higher price.

    Great job folks. Pro quality. My wife and I went through this exact process 10 years ago (and are getting ready to do it again soon). There is always a point where faith in yourself, vision of the outcome, and perseverance are all that get you through it. Best of luck. PS: Love the new puppy shots - cute.

    Hi guys! Not sure if this is a rude question but I’m curious what your backhoe cost. I am considering going off grid and running some numbers 😊

    • @aboulderlifeoffgrid
      @aboulderlifeoffgrid  Месяц назад

      26k. We're very happy with it. I'm glad we did not go with a mini excavator. Thanks 🙂

  • @Step-n-Wolf
    @Step-n-Wolf 5 месяцев назад +1

    Do your numbers factor in fuel for the backhoe and all the vehicle wear and tear? How about all the hours of labor? I place a value on my labor. Will emaill some thoughts on my math. It seems like your time is coming out to $5-10/hr.

    • @aboulderlifeoffgrid
      @aboulderlifeoffgrid  5 месяцев назад

      The time is the biggest downside to it. Not worried about wear and tear as the pit isn't that far. Yes a little diesel was used but not much as each load is unloaded pretty quickly. All this was talked about in a previous video. Thanks

    It's a pity you can't crush your own gravel with the jaw crusher for the shop pad.
    The rocks you have on the property seem very hard, like basalt.
    And no transport cost.
    But I guess you have considered it.

    • @aboulderlifeoffgrid
      @aboulderlifeoffgrid  5 месяцев назад +1

      We could. It just takes a long time, and we want to move forward a little faster. We are using it to make gravel for our road, which is a huge project for the crusher already. Thanks
