    I don't know if you watch Lumnah Acres. They built a house two years ago with radiant floor heating with an outdoor wood furnace. They used a type of foam that interlocked like ship lap and had "knobs" on it that held the pex tubing in place.. It was called Crete Heat and eliminated the need for metal grid to tie the pex. You might want to check it out and their video showing them installing it. Thanks for sharing

    ❤oh goodness those trenches and footers look perfect to me. Especially compared to your past trenches where boulders had to be moved. Great video and closing drone view🙏🙂

    I never realized that welding in the same spot makes it brittle and prone to breaking

    • @dougwalk8034
      @dougwalk8034 5 месяцев назад +2

      It doesn't, from a 20 year certified welder on backhoe, excavator and bulldozer buckets, the only thing that breaks those teeth is picking at giant boulders with a single tooth !!

    You made the right choice. Radiant barrier insulation requires an air gap to provide insulation benefits. And bubble foil has bubbles, but when you put those under thousands of pounds of concrete, I don't suppose they age well. Another possible benefit of radiant barrier insulation is that, if you tape the seams, you get an air barrier. But for under-concrete work, you could just lay down plastic and get the same effect.

    Having watched all of the work you've done on your land, I would think that given your soil conditions, that when you finish with all of the footers and the slab, the hardest part of your build will be done...nice!

    Like a building inspector told me once when building my log home and I ran into a vw size rock, really. "you can't get a better foundation than a rock that has been in the ground for millions of years", just pour over it..... Great job you guys did on your foundation trench !!😁

    Great job guys! Can you bring the backhoe by and move my CONEX 15'? The shed mover guys aren't even returning mails or calls. Too busy to answer the phone or return a call or email. Seems they should expand their crew. Spoke to someone else who has used them and has a great repoirre with them, and he is getting the same treatment. Heading back to Concho today but had to watch your video first. Use Dexpan on the stubborn boulder.

    You may be watching copper going up. It is my understanding that you should be able to buy copper wire closer to the prices in the 2008-09 range in a year and a half to two years from now. If you have scrap you might want to sell it soon when copper reaches the $6 range. Good luck with your build and you may want to seal your house against wind driven ember.
    You all are doing a great job and teaching your kids life skills where they can teach their selfs is priceless. I think you are doing that if you know it or not.
    Thanks for sharing.

    At 7:10 ....When I built a detached 24' x 28' heated garage I dug down and installed 2" heavy duty Styrofoam vertically around the outside of the footing and buried it all just below finished ground level. The foam went down 2 feet and I anchored it to my footing with tap-con screws and big washers. First winter the frost pushed all the foam up to the point it made contact with my siding, I had to dig again and remove all of it. Our frost can go as deep as 4-6 feet here in Timmins Ont. Canada. The frost levels in Phoenix will never cause you the same heartache.
