Some people are coming here to troll! This isn't a troll video! I tried to make a thought provoking video as to how Samsung is headed. This isn't Samsung of the old who used to uphold the "Spirit of Android" that used to push boundaries every now and then while packing every feature under the sky. 3.5mm jack, micro SD expansion, heart rate scanners, IR Blasters, box packing good quality braided earphones, bunch of adapters and dongles.... and now they don't even include a charger!!
All that Apple mocking - only to follow them!!
It's you the people who accepted these anti-consumer practices and allowed brands like Samsung and Apple to get away! You people don't vote with your wallets and just give into fanboysim! When will you realize that these Mega-corpos are not your friend!!
On top of this Samsung has now completely given into hardware stagnation, forget the Ultra, the regular S series has barely changed in the last 4 years!!! And don't even talk about Non-S series Samsung phones! They are no less than Scam - only meant to take advantage of your fanboyism!
Even the Ultra series has stagnated since the S21 Ultra! If it wasn't for TSMC, even the S23 Ultra would've doomed!!
There are plenty of brands other than Samsung and they are not as bad as you think they might be. Buy an equivalently priced phone from other brands first! I'm not gonna talk about Apple - iOS is a pain and not as functional as Android, I completely avoid iOS.
Think with an open mind! Samsung introduced rebranded Google Gemini Features as Galaxy AI and despite promoting the phone based on these rented features and uping the cost to 1300 USD, they have the audacity to even mention about subscription in the future!! And you guys are allowing for it!!
I repeat these mega-corpos don't think about you, they are here to take advantage of you and they are not your friend! VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET!!

Certainly. As a Samsung Collaborated influencer, I would like to provide an unbiased opinion based on my research and experience.
I was a dedicated Apple user from the iPhone 5s to the iPhone 7 Plus, along with a MacBook. However, I encountered challenges in managing professional data on Apple devices due to various limitations. Apple has not introduced significant changes or innovations, except for the introduction of USB-C, and has only made minor upgrades over time.
In contrast, Samsung has a history of refining and optimizing its products. When comparing Samsung's battery life and optimization to Apple's, Samsung offers a superior experience.
Regarding the camera, professional users typically prefer Pro Video Mode for video shooting as it preserves video quality for post-editing. Samsung's Pro Video Mode outperforms Apple's Video Mode in terms of quality and flexibility, demonstrating Samsung's expertise in this area.

the battery remains the same because of the compact form factor and because of the s-pen slot that eats up space for bigger battery..

The phone is perfect with all-day batery and I have all the setting turn up to QHD and 120htz which I cldnt do on s22ultra because of battery issues.

interesting video. I agree at full price the phone is a bit much. At its preorder price however it becomes almost irresistible. I wasnt going to trade in my phone for the ultra until I saw the perorder offer which was about $770 (US) in Australia. I got about $100 (US) of goodies for free too. They also threw in the 512g storage upgrade for free, along with a free years worth of Samsung care. For this deal I needed to trade in my old phone, but it was quite compelling.

    • @techstation365
      @techstation365  9 месяцев назад +1

If you get a deal it's fine. There is no reason for this phone to cost 1300 usd and that's my criticism. If it's 1300 usd it needed to be much better than what it is.

@@techstation365 Agreed! I commented on another review that if you want to get the s24 Ultra, do it now by way of a preorder deal. If you wait, you likely don't need the upgrade, and you might as well wait for the next iteration which will also come with deals.

    • @techstation365
      @techstation365  9 месяцев назад +1

I personally still like Samsung's ONE UI the best - my current phone is the S20 FE 5G. But my cousin is using the Iqoo 7 with SD870 past 2 years and the UI performance is still absolute BUTTER.
Same can be said for OnePlus.
The point is these other devices aren't too far behind both in terms of UI performance and functionality.
In fact ONE UI still isn't as reponsive as these other ones - especially compared to OnePlus , which responds quicker while opening an app immediately after swiping to the homescreen if you know what I'm saying.

I just traded in my S21 ultra for the Galaxy ZFold 5 since it brought the price down to $1000 USD. I wanted the fold so I can use VMware Horizon on the full fold out screen for work. I still think Dex is a big part of me using Samsung phones even though some companies are starting to offer better desktop modes. The fold 5's battery and cameras should be much better for how much this phone cost.

I 100% agree! It is not worth the upgrade for the price, but if you are getting incentives, it definitely is worth it. I traded an old working phone and received $1000 off my s24 ultra with AT&T. I have an s22 ultra with a software issue, and instead of paying the $200 insurance deductible for a replacement, i used it towards the s24 ultra. It worked out really well for me.

I fully agree with your point of view! Rather than you having a different mindset, its mostly the reviewers who are out of touch with the general public ( And yes i do include the big shots like MKBHD, Mr Whosetheboss).
While Samsung makes the best all round flagship phones generally, compared to the competition from China, they are quite lacking in specific areas, especially when they do have the tech to do it themselves, considering that they supply the better tech to their competition. And for majority of people who use midrange phones with few specs that rival or outright outcompete the flagship phones, they mock the companies making the phone and the people who buy them.
This is the reason there is a big divide between people using midrange and flagship phones, one side argues that midrange phones that offer key flagship specs like camera, screen, processor are much more worth it than their flagships for day to day use, and think people who buy flagship phones are stupid, with money to burn. While its the other way round for the people who worship flagship phones from the big brands, having all the key features plus few gimmicks that come to midrange phones 2-3 years down the line, and with long OS updates think its a good investment for the next 5-7 years, while in reality, smartphone makers go out of their way to make phones slower snd their features worthless over time (Samsung with only 1 year of AI)
Only way around this is when more and more midrange phones are being talked about, as they have all the features that a general purpose phone user needs :- Good battery, Good performance, Good screen, Good camera, TODAY. And I actually habe hope now, with Mrwhosetheboss recemtly speaking about PWM with the latest Oneplus 12 phone, which Samsung have ignored with their flagship series (240hz), with a recent increase to 492hz with the s24 series (similar to the iphone), while android midrangers offer 1000+hz as standard in their phones, giving proper eye protection throughout the day, and in the end of the day, this is all a smartphone user wants - a phone to use without any problems.

It's a shame too that the OnePlus 12 which is one of the only top tier phone releasing in the North America and Europe isn't getting much attention.

You may be able to connect that to your TV directly but the TV should be able to behave as usb hub for the phone. Not sure if yours does.
Why didn't you buy a USB Type-C to HDMI dock like this - amzn.to/4bl9DST
You can connect your peripherals as well as charge your phone at the same time.

I skipped the s23ultra so I can get the s24 ultra and I'll tell you I eventually just sold my S22ultra to a family friend who had the note 10plus and had not much money to get the 24ultra, only for me to just add some cash to that sale and get me the s23ultra because I was disappointed at what the s24ultra turn out to be even tho I was going to pay just 521$ for it if I traded my s22ultra in and still get those discount with free earbuds. I made sure those deals did not deceive me into letting samsung scam me 😊. The so called AI is coming to s23 later also, so unless the brightness and flat screen thrills you, the S24ultra isn't worth it over the s23ultra, and ooh, who's going to see the titanium after you slam a case on the phone lol😅

If that's even true, then that's a challenge that Samsung's RnD division should tackle.

  • @makaeo8085

I agree Samsung should have gave us more for the increased price their asking. I want more battery, I want faster charging, I want the better hardware.
But you miss what MKBHD is saying. He is saying, "IN THE US, WHAT PHONE could he recommend for $1300." I'm not even sure there are any other phones in the US for $1300 eaxctly...so no other choice really. But even then the US market is so limited, is there an android phone that he can recommend for the average user that wants the overall best mix of features.
I think the closest competition is the One Plus phones...but they don't appear to be in the carrier stores anymore so most people won't even consider them. I called my carrier and asked how insurance would work...they'd give me an equivalent replacement in a brand they do carry, because they won't carry or reimburse a One Plus replacement.

So i bought an s22 ultra 2 years ago one of the big reasons for me to buy was apparently samsung was turning over a new leaf and seriously supporting its hardware and promised 5 years firmware updates, when it came to recieving the phone not only did samsung stiff me with an inferior cpu, the exynos for the same money as the snapdragon powered variant, of course not only that but now im being told that after only 2 years of updates i probably will not be recieving the new a.i features because my s22 ultra couldnt handle it and even if i do they will be behind a pay wall, never mind that roughly 80% of these a.i features are actually processed in the cloud so could be done on a fucking potato and nevermind that the s23fe which will be recieving the a.i update is using the exact same chip as my phone, but hey at least some part of my phone was made with recycled fishing nets that samsung is so keen to virtue signal over who the fuck gives two shiny shites about fishing nets, not me and not when im paying £1000+ so if scamsung thinks they are going to bullshit me out of another 1300 promising 7 years updates which will never ever happen because i judge not by words but by actions, samsung is going to have to seriously pull its finger out of its ass to convince me to buy another samsung phone

Subscribed your channel and liked your video for this content ! Very true words.. Can relate totally ! Moreover Samsung is now least bothered with its midrange smartphones. Earlier Samsung used to provide Snapdragon SoCs in its A series but now it's gone. The heating issue with Exynos has been cropped up. Galaxy M31, A51 were the game changing midrange smartphones but after that.. the increment is not upto the mark both in terms of camera and raw performance। Shocked to see Galaxy M34 using the same Exynos 1280 as M33. Samsung should look for the betterment of its midrange smartphones, other brands providing Telephoto lenses in the 30k brakets, but Samsung is following its own trend and proving macro lenses instead. Wish that Samsung comes back once again with some improving solution just as it had done earlier with One UI.

Spot on I thought Samsung was in the right path in 2020/21 with Snapdragon 865 S20 FE 5G, 732G M51,778G M52,778G A52S.... all of a sudden they completely dumped this progress!! A53, M53, S21 FE, S23 FE... all worse in many ways compared to their predecessors!! SoC sidegrade/downgrade, same with camera sensors, removal of box contents etc...
People are trolling me here, when they should be criticising Samsung!

Let me take back you to the note 7 days when samsung actually tried to do something with the battery which turned out to be one of the biggest blunders in the history of android phone manufacturing, after doing such a big blunder samaung will not take a chance in testing 100-120W chargers with stupendous amount of batteries. What happens with them? Their charge cycles decrease in 1-1.5 years their SOT's go down by 2-3 hours whereas a samsung smartphone could actually hold 2-3 years ( hence you're still able to use s20 till date ) , other OEM's have bloatware in their UI , ads in their Ui which people don't want , tell me even if i pay 700 bucks , yes i am getting the " Top of the line hardware " , why am i getting ads ? Yes " The cost of getting the hardware at that price you gotta watch the ads " , Surprise why don't we talk about other OEM's to improve their software to kick samsung out of the market? Because they will also probably cost 1000$ at some point of time ( Oneplus 9 Pro and other oneplus phones which started at 350$ ). And that same brand is now using colour OS. There are numerous things other brands have done in the past as well. Samsung just wants the offerings to do right with their software optimisation. PLUS the photo/videos you're reviewing they do not have the software updates which are going to fix numerous bugs and fixes with the camera ( accepted that the video pixelation would be caused because of the sensor ) , but the zoom one is more of a change in a practical perspective. Tell me s23 ultra users how often did you use your 100x zoom for professional photography? No right. Not trying to defend the brand here but obviously there are certain limitations with Big OEM's and yes price is definitely high but why aren't other OEM's providing a flat screen with a stylus with a titanium body at 600$? Have a good day my friends.

Funny you mentioned the Note 7 - apart from the battery it's a far better "Android" phone than the newer ones. Anyways:

      b) Accepting the fact that a 1300 usd phone will require software updates to fix it's biggest feature- the camera.
      c) Samsung blundered the batteries - it's on them to come out of it and innovate. Why aren't others messing up as bad as Samsung??
d)Removing Headphone jack after mocking Apple. Removing box contents like charger after mocking Apple - most cowardly chicken behavior by any mega corpo. Shows they are shameless.
      e) Other phones have ads? - So did Samsung with ONE UI even on premium phones a year back. Don't act like ONE UI is like head and shoulders above other OEMs now. Software has improved accross the board and so has the Android kernel itself. Flagship killers aren't just about performance anymore, this isn't 2018. One UI isn't 200-300 usd better than others.
      f) Why other phones don't give flat screen and S-Pen for 1000 usd - Nice way for you to somewhat justify the inflated price tag. Then tell me why are the S24 and S24+ costing 800 and 1000 usd with 3-4 year old camera hardware and in-house Exynos chips which theoretically should make the phone even cheaper. The phones mentioned in the video are competing with the S24 Ultra while being priced lower than S24. The vanilla models don't stand a chance.

Get a good deal on the S23 Ultra or wait for S24 Ultra to drop in price heavily. Or if you are not a fanboy then wait for phones like Mi 14 Ultra/Vivo X100 Ultra with those Sony IMX 989 sensors.

The best option is just the s23 ultra for the value, I'm a Samsung fan boy if u may say that.

      3. Software support and software experience in much much better on Apple and Samsung ( glitchy and late updates on chinese phone)

Couldn't watch more than 3 minutes of that MKBHD video honestly :( I have only one idea for why he has that opinion - Chinese brands are less popular in US, so they are not considered as a competition. But OnePlus 12 pro (from BBK) should still be part of the picture.
And if I am to upgrade from my note 20 Ultra this year, it will be for S23Ultra, not S24 Ultra. S23 Ultra is the best for its price in the Samsungs flagship line.
