Without a doubt, the S24U is a beast but, not everyone needs that, myself included. As a NOTE user since the Note 3 all the way up to the Note 10+ the price has just become too extreme and I myself just don't need all that a lesser 'S' flagship series phone will accomplish at a MUCH lesser price as I rarely ever used the S-Pen and really have no need for it. The 1Tb storage option has just insane price point and would NEVER consider this as I'll never utilize it to begin with! I offload stuff CONSTANTLY using my NAS or a fast USB thumb drive you can get really CHEAP on Amazon or other sources vs. the 1Tb option or even the 512Gb option. I don't envy it. As an S23U user, I love the stability of OneUI, the fluidity of my phone, how it takes solid photos and videos, and how handy the SPen is sometimes, BUT I don't think I'm getting a Samsung Galaxy Ultra phone after my S23U dies. It's too unwieldy, the Spen I can live without if it means they increase the battery capacity, and that shutter lag is so annoying because I take photos and videos of my pets a lot. Its lowlight performance is really good but if the subject moves in lowlight, then it's a blurry mess. And no Gcamming it is not the ultimate solution because there are also a lot of limitations using Gcam vs the stock camera app. OneUI while highly customizable and stable, feels very stuttery and slow a lot of the time. It feels like it's a polished OS, but a mobile OS from 2018. Samsung still refuses to implement non-linear transitions/animations and they only started to roll out A/B updates in 2024. I've decided on getting the latest Vivo X Ultra phone when I upgrade in 2-3 years because I believe it'll serve me better and it will have none of the issues I've had that Samsung refuses to fix for years now, and for half the price. I'm lucky none of the cons of getting a Chinese model affect me at all (don't use Android Auto, Vivo's version of QuickShare works just as well, Vivo phones have basic Google framework and services built-in, and Chinese bands actually cover ALL the bands the Philippines uses and even more bands compared to the local models here). Despite all this, I still think Samsung's Ultra phone is the best Android for most people (assuming everyone has $1400 to spare 😬). I love the Samsung ecosystem though and who knows, if they fix enough of these issues, I'm fine with giving them another shot.

Excellent video on this great phone. Is it Christmas already down under? (tree/decorations in living room).... or do you put decorations up really early?
Weight is my main gripe. It is heavy on its own, but slap a mag safe case on it, and it wants pull my shorts down. This can also be painful for men depending on the shorts and activity. That pocket can let the phone swing around and pop you in a sensitive place. I still love the square corners which sets it apart from most anything on the market. The one wish I'll never get is a curved back. I can deal with rocking because the majority of the time my phone isn't flat (how uncomfortable to look straight down on the table for extended periods of time). Also, the amount of time I hold the phone, the middle of the palm of my hand, will ache or cramp. For the younger crowd that's never known what it's like to have a curved back phone, you don't know what you're missing. More comfortable, easier to hold, and much better grip. I have an acient Motorola Droid Turbo. I picked it up the other day and was shocked at how good it felt in hand. I get it, new phones look sleek and awesome, but as far as ergonomics, they are completely form over function. Why else would they think glass on the back of the phone would be a great idea? The back of the phone has 2 functions - look pretty and break. Lastly, does anyone remember user replaceable batteries? You know, the phones where you could replace the battery if it started to degrade, or better yet, quickly replace when one battery ran down, you pop in a freshly charged one. That is still faster than any "quick charge" phone on the market.
Things I'd like to be improved: More comfortable to hold, thinner and lighter with rounded corners. NFC placement at the top of the phone Less colour shift between lenses and faster shutter speed.
I think 'The Hate' is because the S23 Ultra was so good in so many ways. It was, and still is, such a popular device; but because of this a lot of people wanted to dislike the S24 Ultra even before it hit the shelves. By logical evolution though, the S24 Ultra is a superior device in almost every way, outside of, arguably, camera performance. Here, the S24 Ultra still does not feel finished off software-wise, and so many users are still praying for this miracle Big Promised Software Update to correct the cameras issues. The camera system on the S23U feels well rounded and well finished off in comparison. At the end of the day though, S24 Ultra owners know what a great device they have. They need to ignore the haters, as so many of these have not even so much as touched an S24U.
When you are the best or have something that is the best, people will hate you because they are jealous. That is just human nature. Of course, famous tech guys aid a lot in that hate because they will always prefer Apple more because of Apple popularity, and that gives them more money.
I just got this device, because I had to replace my Pixel 7 Pro in a pinch. Seems like a good phone so far. Just some things I have to get used to, such as flipped buttons for Back and App switcher. It's practically the same size as P7 Pro. Haven't tested the cameras much yet, but they seem pretty good.
10x zoom has s22 ultra, s23 ultra and also s24 ultra so nothing special about it like all the other options you said! I used the s24 ultra this summer at the sea and the screen after taking some photos and videos was very dark and the phone was hot! Samsung deliberately reduced the photo quality on the s23 ultra, especially the zoom to make the s24 ultra look like it has better cameras! Samsung will do the same thing with the s24 ultra when the s25 ultra comes out!
Great content man 👍 I am currently rocking and watching from my S21 Ultra 5G love this device so much and I do wish Samsung could bring back the design of the S21 Ultra I mean it's unique and very comfortable and I know there has been a lot of changes in hardware and software over the recent models like the camera and battery but I barely even notice the changes using my S21 Ultra 5G it's pretty awesome and fast in performance and it takes wonderful photos and shot great videos till this very moment
@Penguino19 you may not have the same algorithm I do, because whilst the S23 Ultra was universally praised, the S24 Ultra gets panned for everything I outlined in the video, plus also compared to other Ultra phones from other manufacturers and then gets hated on afterwards. Did you watch the whole video?
@@techwithbenefits I did watch the whole video and im NOT criticizing it since it's very informative, im just criticizing the title because it can lead to misinformation right off the bet, that's all I've said
Excellent review. Totally agree. The camera, battery, and design are my pet peeves. Square bottom corner hurts my palm after a while. I love the S Ultra series and change it every year. Wife get the previous one, and I trade hers in for a discount on the new one.
I love my S24U, people are nitpicking with those complaints, non issues. And the more I learn and look for more, the better it gets, for example One Hand Operation+ in Good Lock.
something that can definitely be improve is camera processing. It oversharpens photos way too much and lacks details. I use Gcam for photos and they are A LOT better in terms of detailes and natural feeling. Also, I used to think the battery was great... but it sucks xD
Brighter AOD! Like it was before, with colors. I am missing a lot off my messages, quicker charging speed. Better cameras, no rounded corners. Better sofware like camera software and less gimmicks
Great Video but I think the issue for the 24 Ultra is the 23 Ultra was just as good. I use and walk around and the speakers are still good.Including Camera so definitely looking to see what is next. For the Ultra's.💯✌️
Samsung used to have its own camera devices. Then you expect that Samsung after so many years of experience that its cameras should be ahead of the competition, but unfortunately that is not the case and I really cannot understand this. OPPO (Hasselblad) and Vivo (Zeiss) make much more beautiful photos in my eyes and I miss that with my S24u. Megapixel times are long gone and Samsung consciously does not want to make steps with the cameras. They always follow Apple with their iPhone strategy and while the Chinese are catching up very hard.
Samsungs Ultra is a unique situation. As I said in the video, it's about balancing every feature, not just one. Those other brands you mention are so camera heavy, but dont have the best of everything else. The S24 Ultra has the S Pen, best display on a phone, flexible quad camera system as well as things like DeX and the entire Samsung ecosystem.
@techwithbenefits I think Samsung is a direct competitor of the iPhone. Sure one is an apple and the other a pear, but such a big brand like samsung releases 3 models in a series. With the Ultra model I expect that it will not be an all round balanced model, but the ultra model. I just have the feeling that samsung doesn't go for the maximum while they can. They save those small steps for the next models so that people keep buying their models. Not everyone can spend that much money every year. I hope you understand me
Great way to draw us in, with such a sensational headline, but the shortcomings you referred to were hardly significant. I have been researching a new phone for my upcoming Black Friday purchase and this is way out in front and so far ahead of the competition that it’s hardly worth comparing it with others in its class.
Cons: - Severe color banding compared to the S23 Ultra - Severe mura display imperfections compared to the S23 ultra (aka 'grain') - Severe overheating issues compared to the S23 ultra - Less bright than the S23 ultra 90% of the time due to overheating and forced brightness decrease in outdoor areas. Manual brightness indoors is actually darker than the S23 ultra based on my testing. - Degraded battery life compared to launch S23 ultra. I think you covered this in one of your videos - They got rid of the 10X zoom (Why?) Pros(?) - Flat display (personal preference is curved but most ppl seem to like flat better for screen protectors / s pen) - Anti glare display - personally don't like it (Decreases the vibrancy of the display significantly. This is NOT a software decision by samsung. The glass physically decreases the display vibrancy. Not worth the trade off IMHO, others may prefer it.) - 5x zoom for portraits - Better processor, particularly for gaming. Not noticeable on day to day use however, what is noticeable is the battery decrease due to higher power consumption. The color banding and mura is noticeable even if you aren't looking for it. It looks sooo bad on anything grayscale. Color banding is not a software issue. If it was samsung would have fixed it by now. I got an S24 ultra on a crazy deal for $780 about 2 months ago and returned it, couldn't force myself to look past the issues with the display. It's insane how much samsung messed up with this year's production cycle. Display scientists have found modern solutions for mura at least a decade past and a company literally known for their displays fumbled the ball this badly. Can't believe some people spend $1K+ on these defective disasters. S23U currently has the best display on a samsung, but finding it new is close to impossible unless you're willing to gamble on ebay.
Hi I love this phone and special cameras thing is I use a case with magsafe and I whant to use zoom more than 4.9-5 with magsafe case image become blurry until remove the case. Without case zoom is working just fine, try it!
It's a powerful device with two flaws. The screen coating although cuts down on reflectivity, it also dims the image just enough that you can see it when watching hi def videos. The second is the camera sucks at taking night sky pictures unless you put it on a stand because the new post processing software it uses makes it streaky.
If we consider a telephone to be any device capable of transmitting voice over a long distance, the history of the telephone is much older. The first telephones were purely mechanical devices. Telephone (Greek: tele = distant and phoné = voice)
I loved it in the begining... Mainly because the battery life was ridiculous good. After like 2 updates, the battery life slumpt. I reset the phone and it became decent. So the update killed this phone. I ended up using my S23 Ultra as my main phone.
I understand what a ultrawide camera is, but when I use it to photograph groups of people, the distortion it gives to the heads that are in the left or right is extremely ugly, no matter how much I try to chose the right angle to take it. I wish either a change in the lenses or some AI magic should correct it (lens distortion correction that is offered when editing is not capable enough). About some aggressive post processing, I wish there was a simple button to turn it completely off and then allow us to activate it in editing and adjust its strength.
no one ever 😂 those comments that make you think that everyone hates mobile phones are from people who don't use that device and hate it because they can't buy it
I don't know anyone who hates the S24. It is definitely the most balanced smartphone on the market. But, like many others, I am not 100% satisfied with the camera system, hardware in combination with software. Instead of A.I. gimmicks, Samsung should have invested a little more work in the software: - Why are the results in Normal, Pro and Expert RAW mode so different and inconsistent? - Why can the RAW files from Expert RAW only be edited with Adobe products? On the other hand, you cannot use Lightroom for RAW images in Pro mode because the colors are not right. - Why is every Expert RAW image over-optimized by the Gallery app and there is nothing you can do about it? At least when you open the file in Lightroom, you get the unoptimized original for editing.
I have the S24U and I definitely regret buying it. With that being said, I don't feel like other people hate it I feel like it's very well loved by most. I hate the screen size it's wayyy too big. I thought I would get used to it but never did. I can see why other people would want that though. It is a great display
I hate it because I love Galaxy phones but I hate Galaxy pictures. I don't like the processing Samsung has chosen to do in the point and shoot camera. Since I'm a point and shoot guy I don't feel I have many choices on the Samsung side, which in my opinion is the best Android out there.
It is important to note that the statement "everyone hates S24" is subjective and not a fact. In my experience, the S24 Ultra has been well-received and has received positive feedback from users. I use the 24 Ultra for my daily and love it.
I have no qualms at all with my phone. Just one glitch that I don't like at all is the jerk and the time it takes to focus in portrait shots and videos. This was never there with S23U
Nobody hates the S24 Ultra except those who have been drinking too much Apple juice. Or those who spent $1300 upgrading from an S23 Ultra thinking it would be a big upgrade.
Honestly, I don't think anyone will notice unless they're a shill and try out every phone that comes out. I switched from s20 ultra, and it's definitely an upgrade to me.
You say that they need to change the round frame today...... Then when they DO make it FLAT (like you want) THEN you'll day "nah,... I liked it better when it was rounded Cuz it didn't cut into my hand...." 🤦🏿 (SOMETIMES it better to let corps do what they want and make us like it Cuz as humans.... We don't know what we like and want, lol)
Well, I think the "hate" is because of the S24U's price that NOT everyone needs/want's myself included. Being a Samsung Note user since the Note 3 they've just become too expensive and really have no use for the S-Pen and have now settled with lesser 'S' series phones at the lesser price tag. For me (my opinion only) I refuse to PAY for all the S24U's features that I'll just never use or need but, that's my choice whereas others WANT that performance and features that may never ever utilize just so they can "say" they have the best of the best. It's a pretty oversaturated market these days with IMO too many choices/options at differing price ranges.
Great phone, but I'm oldschool - I want to be able to use normal heaIdphones, bluetooth annoys me. Further I want an SD slot. Battery like in the S23 ultra, then the phone combined with the s pen would be perfect.

Clickbait headline
Things I'd like to be improved:
More comfortable to hold, thinner and lighter with rounded corners.
NFC placement at the top of the phone
Less colour shift between lenses and faster shutter speed.
The best phone I have owned. And I have owned a hell of a lot of different phones over the past 20 years.
What's wrong with the camera to me it's perfect
I don't hate it, I just like iPhone more.
When you are the best or have something that is the best, people will hate you because they are jealous. That is just human nature. Of course, famous tech guys aid a lot in that hate because they will always prefer Apple more because of Apple popularity, and that gives them more money.
Who hate it? I had an iphone 14,and i switched to S24 Ultra,I LOVE IT!!!!!
Not really..... It's just that negativity gets clicks...
S24u has 5x optical zoom not 10x!
Along with the S23 Ultra that I have, simply no one other device can impress me.
I have the s23 ultra also and jts a bloody beast. I feel like I want a new phone because I have a serious tech problem, but I just don't need one.
Nobody said that bro🙏🙏😭😭😭
S24 ultra is just the best there is.. remember when you are on top, that's when the hate comes. Samsung is just 💪🏾
Great content man 👍 I am currently rocking and watching from my S21 Ultra 5G love this device so much and I do wish Samsung could bring back the design of the S21 Ultra I mean it's unique and very comfortable and I know there has been a lot of changes in hardware and software over the recent models like the camera and battery but I barely even notice the changes using my S21 Ultra 5G it's pretty awesome and fast in performance and it takes wonderful photos and shot great videos till this very moment
Couldve put another title but chose misinformation
You obviously don't scroll Twitter/X often then lol
@@techwithbenefitsunfortunately for you I do
@Penguino19 you may not have the same algorithm I do, because whilst the S23 Ultra was universally praised, the S24 Ultra gets panned for everything I outlined in the video, plus also compared to other Ultra phones from other manufacturers and then gets hated on afterwards.
Did you watch the whole video?
@@techwithbenefits I did watch the whole video and im NOT criticizing it since it's very informative, im just criticizing the title because it can lead to misinformation right off the bet, that's all I've said
@Penguino19 fair enough. Entitled to that, thought I'd add some context where the title has come from. Cheers mate
Who told u that everyone hates it? You are crazy
Is the s24 ultra issue still there? Like the grainy display green line issue etc..
Best phone i have ever had so don't know why your wrapping all over it
I keep every phone in dark mode and data off , gps off , bluetooth off and turn them on only when i neeed it
I have 1 and i love it only (bad) thing is that its a lil bit heavy but other then that i love everthing about it
something that can definitely be improve is camera processing.
Clickbait ..........🤮
How was it clickbait?
@@techwithbenefits "everyone" 😒😒
The only things we actually want are good cameras, IR blasters, and as SD card slots along with the powerful processor.
I hope you understand me
@mstiic again it's why most buy every 2 or 3 years
Great way to draw us in, with such a sensational headline, but the shortcomings you referred to were hardly significant. I have been researching a new phone for my upcoming Black Friday purchase and this is way out in front and so far ahead of the competition that it’s hardly worth comparing it with others in its class.
It’s awesome!!!! Had S23U and are both complete!!!!7 years updates!!!
S25 Ultra still uses 12 MP front camera? I want new one the current one has yellowing. I use S22 Ultra with 48 MP but the UFS 3.1 is too sloW
I love my 24 ultra. I come from the DSLR world. I am now shooting 4k stock video and stock photos with expert raw.
This is the first time ive heard anyone hate. Ive only heard everybody love s24 ultra
Cons:
- Severe color banding compared to the S23 Ultra
- Severe mura display imperfections compared to the S23 ultra (aka 'grain')
- Severe overheating issues compared to the S23 ultra
- Less bright than the S23 ultra 90% of the time due to overheating and forced brightness decrease in outdoor areas. Manual brightness indoors is actually darker than the S23 ultra based on my testing.
- Degraded battery life compared to launch S23 ultra. I think you covered this in one of your videos
- They got rid of the 10X zoom (Why?)
Pros(?)
- Flat display (personal preference is curved but most ppl seem to like flat better for screen protectors / s pen)
- Anti glare display - personally don't like it (Decreases the vibrancy of the display significantly. This is NOT a software decision by samsung. The glass physically decreases the display vibrancy. Not worth the trade off IMHO, others may prefer it.)
- 5x zoom for portraits
- Better processor, particularly for gaming.
Interesting! I will have to see if I could replicate it
Great content. So which do you think is better the s23 ultra or the s24 🤔 ultra
I really like my S24U. Pretty much in love with it
.
Who tf hates this phone? Click bait 😂
The alert on phone pick up to detect missed calls/texts doesn't work, yes it's enabled. No big deal just hate to know that.
unsubscribe!
It's a powerful device with two flaws. The screen coating although cuts down on reflectivity, it also dims the image just enough that you can see it when watching hi def videos. The second is the camera sucks at taking night sky pictures unless you put it on a stand because the new post processing software it uses makes it streaky.
I have it as update of my 5 year old phone and I´m fine with that. Only issue is, that samsung process some photos more, then I like.
I ended up using my S23 Ultra as my main phone.
nice click bait
I didn't know they hated it until you said something.
I don't hate it ,I love my S24 Altra
I understand what a ultrawide camera is, but when I use it to photograph groups of people, the distortion it gives to the heads that are in the left or right is extremely ugly, no matter how much I try to chose the right angle to take it. I wish either a change in the lenses or some AI magic should correct it (lens distortion correction that is offered when editing is not capable enough). About some aggressive post processing, I wish there was a simple button to turn it completely off and then allow us to activate it in editing and adjust its strength.
Apart from the sharp corner and its weight i don't have any reason to hate it. But still i miss that curved display
no one ever 😂
those comments that make you think that everyone hates mobile phones are from people who don't use that device and hate it because they can't buy it
I don't know anyone who hates the S24. It is definitely the most balanced smartphone on the market.
But, like many others, I am not 100% satisfied with the camera system, hardware in combination with software. Instead of A.I. gimmicks, Samsung should have invested a little more work in the software:
- Why are the results in Normal, Pro and Expert RAW mode so different and inconsistent?
- Why can the RAW files from Expert RAW only be edited with Adobe products? On the other hand, you cannot use Lightroom for RAW images in Pro mode because the colors are not right.
- Why is every Expert RAW image over-optimized by the Gallery app and there is nothing you can do about it? At least when you open the file in Lightroom, you get the unoptimized original for editing.
Who hates?
do you not use a case on the S24 ultra?
The s24ultra is a beast and not cause I own it, I went from the s23ultra red 512g to the s24ultra 1tb titanium grey and I love it all around monster 😊
Absolutely love mine, does everything I need it to and more. Sane people ignore the RUclips noise and bull...t
Clickbait. No one hates the s24 ultra 😂
You do realize that we're not all from London just be a little bit more...... Less English with your English
I'm also not from London. From Australia
I have no qualms at all with my phone. Just one glitch that I don't like at all is the jerk and the time it takes to focus in portrait shots and videos. This was never there with S23U
I have s24u, but i prefer Vivo x200pro mini, which has 5700mah, super zoom, super lens, Vivo take great photos as a digital camera
That's objective and your opinion.
Can somebody tell me on this thread? How to get my keyboard to pop up when I swipe up on the home screen to search the entire phone?
How do I get normal photos?! My phone keeps editing my pictures messing up my perfect pictures 😮💨
You say that they need to change the round frame today...... Then when they DO make it FLAT (like you want) THEN you'll day "nah,... I liked it better when it was rounded Cuz it didn't cut into my hand...." 🤦🏿
(SOMETIMES it better to let corps do what they want and make us like it Cuz as humans....
