I’ve owned both Glock and M&P and lean more towards Glock now, but they are both excellent choices. The largest advantage that I see with Glock is the price and availability of magazines. It’s much more affordable to stock up on Glock magazines over the M&P and the mags are easier to find as well

I’m team M&P. I also liked that you compared the Glock 45 to the M&P Full Size because dimensionally they are the same size. Too many people compare it to the Glock 17.

Thank you for commenting. I did feel it was a better comparison to use the MP and the Glock 45 than the Glock 17.

Fun video. M&P for me for sure. Glock has never fit my hand right. I made it work for many years, but the M&P is just a much better option for me between these two.

Thank you for watching and commenting. I agree the ergonomics of the Smith & Wesson pistol are really outstanding. I’m very surprised that not more people choose this pistol versus some of the other polymer frame handguns out there which I don’t think or as reliable, durable and consistent.
Thank you so much for commenting.

I enjoy them both. I am an armorer for both. The reliability on both are awesome.
The M&P feels better in my hand!

100% agree both are great pistols . The ergonomics of the M&P fit some people better. They definitely fit my hands !

I go back-and-forth between these two pistols with what I like. I think the Smith is a bit more premium feeling but I tend to lean towards Glock because when I’ve had problems with my pistols, and I’ve had problems with every brand, Glock is the easiest to fix because again parts availability, simplicity of design, and availability of expertise.
pretty much every gun store and range will have Glock internals on hand, but they’re not gonna have internals for any other brand. They will also have certified Glock armorers but it’s not a given they will have a certified armorer any other brand.

Both excellent platforms - you did justice to both in this video, so thanks for that! I compete with and carry a 5" M&P and carry a Gen5 Glock 19 MOS. My fantasy list for the M&P is as follows:
    1. A compact M&P2.0 with normal sized iron sights. Still cowitnessable using a Holosun SCS green dot sight but will still fit normal CCW holsters.
    2. Either a steel framed full size M&P for competition, or 1lb tungsten backstraps so you can keep up with metal guns in competition without having to buy a new gun.

Both are fine guns, comparably priced (affordable), with plenty of aftermarket support for parts and accessories. It's all about personal preferences.

I would have to go with the M&P 1.0. The 2.0 does have a better trigger, but the 1.0 just feels better to me because of the beaver tail. Now is still a great time to pick up the M&P or Glock as police trade-in for less than $400. I have a M&P 40 gen 1 that I converted to 9mm, stippled, and upgraded the sights and is now one of my favorite guns.

Dave, thank you for commenting. I personally prefer the 1.0 pistol that have had trigger work done on them by my friend BG Gun works. Anyone who shoots one of those pistols is blown away.
The 2.0 version has a better trigger, but not as good as the magic that Brad worked with the original Smith & Wesson parts.
Thanks again for watching and commenting. Stay safe.

Thank you very for this interesting video
In my experience, I noticed that other elements were also relevant
    - The return spring of the G17 is very strong and it can cause trouble in some situations, like training under heavy rain. If your hand cannot grasp the slide strongly enough, there may be security problems
    - The strengt of the return spring may also be a problem when emptying the chamber
    - The field strip lever of the G17 is extremely tiny and also difficult to grasp. This may also be problematic when a field strip on the field is required (for example to take care of a dud round)
    - At least for me, the fact that other pistols can be field stripped without having to depress the trigger is relevant
    - Although the trigger safety of the G17 is very well designed, it does not protect agains a "zombie finger". This is a point where the M&P pistols have a plus as they can be obtained with both a trigger safety and a frame safety. Ruger is the only other company providing the same features (on the American pistol). The M17/18 has only a frame mounted safety.
    - Shooting only with the weak hand may also prove very interesting.
    - Of course, according to where the person lives, the service offered for the pistol of his/her choice is very relevant.

After shooting, owning and carrying Glocks for almost ten years, I began my migration away from Glock to the S&W M&P 9 M2.0 system beginning in 2019, after I rented some M&P 9 M2.0 pistols and shot them head-to-head against my Gen3 Glock 17, 19, 34, and Gen4 G26.
I instantly preferred the M&P system for a whole host of reasons, not the least of which is for me, the M&P M2.0 pistols are easier to shoot well than Glocks.
    The rest is history.
The Glock is much quicker and easier / more simple to fully detail strip and reassemble than the M&P (really than anything else I've ever used), but I only fully detail strip my pistols once a year to do a deep cleaning, unless there's something else I want to address.
Also, the M&P M2.0 system doesn't scream out for nearly as many upgrades as Glock pistols do.
    Good things! 👍

Thank you for your comments. For many people that is the common experience when moving from the Glock to the Smith & Wesson M&P product.
I had a very similar experience. Bottom line both of these are fine defensive handguns, or duty weapons. Thanks again for commenting.

When I bought my M&P 9 1.0 I chose it because I’m left handed and having the ambi controls is what tipped the scale for me. I’ve since then added a 686+, shield +, 442, and a M&P 9 metal competitor. Even with the Gen 5 glocks I’m still a Smith guy. I don’t knock the Glock, I mean they are dishwasher safe after all.

Really can't go wrong either way... But for me, M&P. I don't like that you have to upgrade the Glock to get features already incorporated into the Smith and Wesson (sights and triggers)... I am personally more accurate with my M&P...

M&P 2.0 for sure. They shoot great. Look great. And seem to be built extremely well. Just can’t get past the plain vanilla boxy look of Glock. They feel cheap and blocky in my hand compared to other brands.

Thank you for commenting. Yes a lot of people don’t like the look of the Glock pistol or feel it’s kind of blocky that has not been my experience in regards to my view of the aesthetics of the pistol.
Nevertheless, that is a very popular held opinion and I certainly respect it. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video!

best thing people can do is go some gun range and rent a few guns and shoot different ones, as fit is so subjective. What works from me, might not work for you. Glocks are great guns, S&W, CZ, Beretta, SIG, Walther etc are all good guns just have to find the one that works for you. Thanks for the videeo.

Biggest gripe I have with Glock is the cheap sights. But hands down, if I had to take an out/of-the-box pistol and trust my life to it, it would be Glock. That said, the M&P actually feels better in hand.

oh, and to be a bit pedantic... There are technically two tools that Glock recommends. One is the punch which you showed and the other is a specific tool that is used to insert the plastic sleeve into the striker chamber.

    • @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC
      @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC  6 месяцев назад

Yes, sir, that is a very good point. You raised about the other tool. Aside from that, though you have to admit these are pretty darn easy to detail strip.

    • @fivevs1
      @fivevs1 6 месяцев назад

@@GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC I totally agree good sir. And I was kind of joking with my pedantic comment. It truly is an amazing design when you look at how complicated anything else is. A couple dozen parts and that’s it. ironically, the only thing difficult about a Glock is removing the base plate off a magazine, especially the +2 plates.

I think Smith&Wesson really lost out on an opportunity to take Glock's lunch money. When the Gen4 Glocks first came out a number of the 19s had ejection issues. The M&P in the meantime at least in 9mm versions had some less then stellar accuracy issues. If they were able to release the 2.0 during that time that Glock was denying that there were any issues with their guns I believe that the M&P would have taken the market by storm.
