After the germans surrendered he went back to the US to train with the B29. He only missed the pacific theatre because the japanese also surrendered in the meantime.
And he, a Jew working at Brooklyn law firm before Pearl Harbor, would on his final mission lead the raid that killed Hitler’s most infamous judge- Roland Freisler. And after the war he would interrogate Hermann Goering at the Nuremberg trials.
@@Thatguy.24 They were the trials of German higher ups after the war - there are some great books on the subject, also if you want to see a dramatic portrayal of them there is the Alec Baldwin movie called ''Judgement at Nuremburg'' its available on youtube and gives a general overview of the case. There are some disturbing scenes and bits in it so bear that in mind before watching.
I read the book before watching the series and both were EXCELLENT. Someone I served with once told me you would be surprised what you can do when you are being shot at. To me it's the epitome of courage to sign back up and continue flying combat and in my book Rosie and these others were nothing but heroes. We had two family members serve in WWII. Fortunately I got to hear some of their stories first hand, we miss you Brownie & Norm. All of these people are what put the word GREATEST in that phrase THE GREATEST GENERATION. Thanks to all now serving, those who have, and those who will in the future. FLY NAVY!!!
1:32 - "Not until the job is done..." Those are the words of a MAN. No nonsense, no whining, no excuses. Just sheer determination, and a sense of duty. All at the age of 27.
Nate Mann is a revelation in this show. Outstanding.
Sadly the CGI is terrible
he went to Julliard, I was so excited about his casting!
Rosenthal was truly badass. 52 missions twice shot down. Boy never gave up. True American hero.
