@Gargoyle2556 I agree with part of your comment. It's weird how American actors wouldn't dominate being casted in big budget American stories. The reverse would never happen in the U.K. We have plenty of wonderful drama schools here in the states and it's always funny to see the excuses people come up with as to why an abundance of foreigners get casted as Americans (seems like foreigners actually are cheaper to cast). We have plenty of great actors here that have the "range", they just aren't given the chance it because of money, it seems.
Absolutely amazed at how well Callum and Austin executed this show. The performances are outstanding, and not being talked about enough as one of the best shows of the year. Thank you Austin and Callum for truly putting together two captivating performances.
Just finished the series. I cried my eyes out! I'm Dutch and my father wouldve been 100 yo. He never realy talked about the war but we just knew.... My respect to these 2 actors, so talented so humble. I lost it again when they showed the pictures with the veterans.
I'm a big Austin Butler fan since "ELVIS" and I think this film looks awesome. I hope he has a great, long successful career and that Hollywood doesn't try to bring him down.
I literally watched nine episodes in less than 24 hours. Such an incredible true story. You see how these men fought for our country and how proud they were to do it. I cried towards the end when they delivered food to the people of the Netherlands.
I didn’t know Callum well until after this show, and I didn’t know he was British til these interviews on the show. He hits that American accent and 40’s swagger so naturally
I just finished reading the book & it was EXCELLENT. While we didn't have anyone in the Air Corp in WWII we did have family members in both the Navy & USMC in WWII, I feel truly fortunate to have heard their stories first hand. We also had family members serve in WWI, Korea, Vietnam, & The Cold War. FLY NAVY!!!

So excited about this series, the best one I've seen in a really long time!! It's so incredibly well made, just so professional, keeps you at the edge of your seat, at the same time you feel it's authentic and really takes you back right there with them. Awesome!!
@@detroitdabber313easy, either James Bond, someone working with James Bond or a James Bond villain, so he can use his natural British accent. If not... Put him in a old timey James Bond, in the 1800's or something.
I’ve been waiting for this show for over a year! 😍 Austin makes me a bit gaga🥰 Now he just needs to come back in about a month to promote Dune Part Two, and he needs to bring Timothee with him! Please, talk show gods, make that happen
I've been waiting since about two years after "The Pacific" came out. There were rumors back then ...The Mighty Eighth... Masters of the Air..., and HBO kicked it down and down the road for so long, and that they didn't make enough money back on the Pacific (Which I personally liked so much better than Band of Brothers! The brutal trials and tribulations of those who served in the pacific. UGH!), and I was bummed. I'd search the internet once or twice a year since. I was thrilled when I heard 3-4 years ago that they were rehabbing an old WWII airfield in England, and the rumors began that it was for this show. Then hearing Apple had decided to pick it up. Such a long wait it has been!
I cannot wait to see this series, been waiting for it since I started reading about the air war in Europe back in the 1990s. I'd also like to add that here's another reason I stopped watching the Today show years ago..... those aren't jets, and the story did NOT take place in the 1800s.. what was that?
Most of them are classically trained but they also filmed this in europe so made sense to higher local actors/actresses. Plus for alot of them, this was their first actual full time acting job.
@@catherinelw9365that is not true at all. You might be using that as a coping mechanism. British actors are just superior which is why they’re cast in abundance. Many films shot in America are full of British actors too 😂😂. Cope.
I'm enjoying this more than both of those shows to be honest. It's been a while but I want to say either band of brothers or the pacific blows the other one out of the water.
Yea fair enough. I enjoy the Pacific more because JBD and Rami Malek absolutely killed those roles of Leckie and Snafu but BoB is just iconic. It’s hard. When Masters of the Air has been out for a few years I’ll revisit it I’m just so lost rn lol
Band of Brothers is the best of them all, it's not even close. The Pacific is the action version of Band of Brothers, kind of like how Aliens is the action version of Alien. Masters of the Air is CGI garbage, I'm surprised they didn't change the race/gender of the characters for some DEI bucks...
Real Austin butler his projects master in air i am supporting him I am his new girlfriend Victoria Vaughan Austin butler was handsome love request please
Knowing how well Hanks and Spielberg had executed their previous 2 miniseries, I have to say casting Butler as the lead to play the role of a Major was just not believable. He’s not the mold and the it’s quite forced
I’m not feeling the acting or the passion in this series especially through these two leads. I found the other minor cast delivering better more visceral performances so far.
sigh just like the gaming industry, recent movies/tv series taking a nose dive. This pales in comparison to band of brothers/the pacific. Cheesy acting, cgi everywhere. No realism, feels more like pearl harbour movie than a gritty ww2 show. Also the americans always have to insert a little dig at the british ( fight scene) just like the Brit Tank commander scene in band of brothers. Poor form.
The first 2 episodes were weak AF, but it starts to pick up from episode 3. The CGI is so obvious that it takes you out, but the story line is good so far. You can't judge it until you finish the whole series. The CGI in BoB was atrocious too but every one managed to get over that one.
I will never cease to be amazed at how well British actors do American accents.

But why couldn't Apple work out some kind of deal with HBO, etc., so the 'majority' of the world could see the series?
It's the politics of streaming.
