I had the privilege of meeting Alexander Jefferson in 2015, he was 93 years old then - but I remember him saying that day that he promised to live to be 100 years old and he kept his promise. He was often at airshows signing posters and his book. He was an example of a person who exemplified what it was to be American - he was serving a country that didn't support him at the time but he somehow knew that the future by his example would change that.
Incredible. Truly a great generation we shall never see again. I’m from London and will be visiting Thorpe Abbots in the summer. Never knew this story till now.
Thank you Hanks, Spielberg, and Goetzman for making this series. Thank you Donald Miller for the story. Thank you to the 100th and the entire USAAF and every other military branch who served their country WWII
WOW. How lucky was Alexander Jefferson to live to see 100 years after all he went through. And glad some of the others lived a long life too. Such an insane story and time
@@obienator he was one of the tail gunners throughout the series and he was in Rosie’s plane in the last episode I forgot the name of the person he plays but his name is in the credits

@@risdastyles7bbh822 both his best friend and wife went too soon. He had to spend the rest of his life without them. @@Cucuy222 I was more thinking of the possible fact that if Buck had been around Vietnam then he might have witnessed the beginning of Operation Rolling Thunder which may have brought back a lot of bad memories for him.
People such as these are what put the word GREAT in the phrase "THE GREATEST GENERATION". We had two members of our family that served in WWII, one Navy & one Marine. I feel truly fortunate to have heard some of their stories first hand, we miss you Brownie & Norm. Thanks to all now serving, those who have, and those who will in the future. FLY NAVY!!!
1. This song (and the score during the 25 mission flyby) really need to be added to the soundtrack to consider it complete. 2. Rosenthal’s awards list fails to mention he received the Distinguished Service Cross for the raid over Berlin when he bailed out to the Russians. Rosie was literally more decorated than Winters.
What a group of exemplary Americans. My gratitude to each and every one of them and the millions of past and present military members. They fought a war and came home to continue their public service.
What a Show , What a Show..❤ .. Being an Indian I have huge respect for all those Mens and Womens who died in World wars for their Country and this World .. I never miss any movie or series on World war.. The show is really heart touching......
This was a great show. It could have been amazing if it had just one more episode, I think. However it still deserves to be considered the same caliber as BoB and the Pacific. The final episode alone earned it that honor.
@@rubbishmodeller IT CANNOT be compared to those other two series totally different stories about were combat took place! There are no fox holes in the sky!
While I am iffy on the fact that the show sacrificed some historical accuracy in favor for the visual spectacle, it nonetheless still tells the struggle of these young men in in the flying fortresses. May the American people continue to remember the sacrifices they made, and the world always remember the millions of sacrifices it took to bring us to today.
What about Colonel Huglin, Sgt. Lemmons, Major Blakley (one of the most decorated men from the 100th)? No disrespect to them, but why show two men who had nothing to do with the 100th and neglect those who were in it? Apple TV really have no idea...
And the fact that they had about 2-3 lines in the entire series. Odd choice to include them in the show when we barely know anything about them by the end.
It doesn't. Not at all. You're confusing mood with music. If you are looking for an actual musical comparison, it's to "Sullivan Ballou's Letter" from Ken Burns' The Civil War.
It's criminal this song wasn't included in the soundtrack😭
It was in the soundtrack. This was at the very end of the final episode

Can you please add this song to the soundtrack album? Or simply as a single onto the Apple Music please??
Anyone know where I can find this music track? Sounds like a rendition of the main theme Soar but it’s not on the official soundtrack

Highly recommend Harry Crosby’s book A Wing and a Prayer. Very, very good.
Actor who played Harry Crosby is John Wilkes Booth in AppleTV's Manhunt.
Just watched the first episode. He and Tobias Menzies are incredible. Such immersive stuff
