I just want to say thank you for doing these videos. I am an expat in a country where I don't fit the wedding dresses (I am a curvy tall woman in a country filled with petite short women) and they do rentals not buy wedding dresses here so I have to special order from online without trying a dress on first. Trying to figure all this out on my own was a struggle until I found your channel.
We are so happy to hear you are finding these videos helpful. It can seem overwhelming when planning your wedding, we felt the same. A bit of research will help and make you feel more confident with your choice. If you need any more help or would like us to cover anymore topics, just let us know
How do you add the fullness to the middle of the dress not just the end? Can I put a ballgown skirt underneath my a line dress? I love the a line dress but want it super full and to have a ballgown silloette
They also make overskirts too but if your gown does not already have a matching one, you would need to find one that is complimentary to your gown. They look best over a mermaid or fishtail to give an entirely different look. The ones that go over the head and are literally a skirt look best. of course, you have to watch your hair do putting on and taking off. the styles that you attach over without going over you head, show you are actually wearing a mermaid in front with a full skirl on the back.
Hi Tia, that isn't something we would do but without seeing the dress or underskirt we can't be sure. There might be a reason the bridal shop did this, it is worth speaking to them to double check. I'm sure they will want to help. Hope you have a wonderful wedding!
Interesting watch. I've bought a petticoat to save on alterations. the one I have is 6 steel rings, which are adjustable. are the ones featured in this video also steel/metal or crenaline? I am abit concerned about sitting down, using the ladies ect. with this kind of petticoat. Crenaline ones are difficult to find
Our supplier uses metal hoops/rings. The petticoat used for the layers are nylon (the net needs to be a stiff fabric) so they hold the shape, with they have a polyester lining. The metal hoops will always provide bigger shape compared to underskirts that only have petticoats made from Nylon etc. Have you tried the underskirt on with your dress and tried sitting etc? You could always take a few hoops out, to make it easier however it will soften the skirt.
Hiya Esslie, it's tricky to be honest we have tried then with some of our much lighter dresses and they didn't look right. I would suggest try it.... You will know. Most of the lighter dresses look better with less as that's more the overall look.... Floaty and light xxx
Thank you this been very helpful ! :) . What would be best recommended if I will be 6 months pregnant on my wedding day but I want a little fuller look on my dress?
Glad you found it helpful, if you want it a little fuller perhaps just a one hoop underskirt (keep the petticoat layers to a minimum) to take off your feet to make movement easier. I would an elasticated waistband to make it more comfortable.
I have a ballgown wedding dress with a long train. I am considering a 2 or 3-tier underskirt. Would you recommend getting an underskirt with or without a train feature?
Hey I have the morilee kathleen dress and I'm struggling with it. I'm 4ft 10 and it's been altered to my size. I struggle to walk in it because all the material clings to my ankles. It has 8 layers. What kind of hoop/slip would I need in order for me to be able walk in it?
Sorry for late response, our notifications have not been coming through. You can do it both ways, putting it on after your dress can take longer and the layers need to be adjusted. You can put the underskirt on first then the dress over your head, but this can be a problem with hair and make-up. The best way we find is the step into both. So place the underskirt on the floor, then the dress over the top, so the underskirt the base. The step into them and pull up. Hope that makes sense, we will make a video on this though
Dresses with splits are a beautiful new trend in bridal that we love! An underskirt wouldn't work as you would see it. The split needs to be seen and keep a clean line on the skirt x
Do you keep your underskirt during the reception? I want to puff up my ball gown to its full potential and I want to enjoy my full dress the entire night. I don’t want a bustle that will hide my beautiful dress and train. It’s the only day(hrs) that I will wear that dress and a ball gown. Am I out of my mind? I even asked at the bridal salon for a petticoat and they looked at me like I was crazy…. They said I don’t need that and that I need a bustle!
If you don't want to bustle your dress, then don't. An underskirt will allow movement and keep the layers off your legs. Most brides keep it on for the receptions, I did

I'm in the same situation and struggling along, this video has been so helpful!
@@thebrideguide101withjemmaj2wow you look so very beautiful and very gorgeous I really love the dress
This was very entertaining! Beautiful dress! Thanks for the info!
Nice tutorial, thanks!
Very informative ladies - Thankyou very much 👌
Glad it was helpful!
The dress is very pretty but IMO looks the best at the beginning without the extra poof added.
Hey! This video is so helpful - thank you so much! Where did you get the one hoop/three layers one from? X
Hiya Amy, we can order one for you I think have also emailed us so I will reply on there xx
How do you add the fullness to the middle of the dress not just the end? Can I put a ballgown skirt underneath my a line dress? I love the a line dress but want it super full and to have a ballgown silloette
Adding a ball gown underskirt will definitely create a fuller look for your A-line dress

Great video! I have bought my ballgown dress this weekend but I was given a mermaid style underskirt, is this correct?

Can you do one with mermaid gowns?

Hi Jemma & Jade. Are there skirts that would work for the new styles of wedding gowns that have a more see through bodice?

Sorry for delay, either would work. We personally use ones without a train, if you want to keep the train fuller then add this feature on x
@@thebrideguide101withjemmaj2 Married now, didn't go for one in the end, it was too hot of a day!
@@cupcake1065 hope you had an amazing day 🥰
Long live girly fun :-)

Sorry for the delay x An underskirt with at least one hoop will take the layers away from your ankles x
Do you put the dress on first and then the petticoat on underneath after? Or petticoat first and dress ocer the top?

@@thebrideguide101withjemmaj2 thank you for replying to my comment/question! Please, an underskirt video for ball gowns next. 💗
how about 3 hoop? isn't hard to seat and wearing it?
No we sat in lots of them and they do hold the dress up alittle but it still looks fine and feels comfortable 😁 xx
Where can I get these??
We use a wholesale supplier as we own a bridal shop in Worcestershire. Which one are you thinking about? As you may be able to find online
