That is a really big difference between no petticoat and wearing one. I really like both looks, but I like it with a petticoat more that dress is really pretty
I had a dress that was VERY 80s, we took off the sleeves & it was like an entirely different dress. It also had a 'built in' crenolin so I didn't have to mess with any 'extra volume', that we left alone.
Hi Nayri! Thank you for this video, i will be wearing a petticoat for my big day, i need the drama 😂 A question i have, is about the neck scarf trend. I'm looking into it, and i'm wondering if it's redundant with a big drop veil. It will be an interesting visual video.
With a dress with a slit I recommend your seamstress sewing in crinoline layers which is the material in a petticoat. They will sew it in and customize it for your dress to accommodate the slit in your dress. Let me know if anything else is needed!
I see gowns now designed as a fishtail and then have an over skirt instead of underskirt to make it princess. The material of the overskirt matches the fishtail gown, and it is put on over the head. Women seem to like that as it gives them princess for the ceremony and then fish tail for the reception. the biggest issue would be how elaborate their hairdo is and that they take care not to mess it up when removing the over skirt.
Great views with/without the petticoat. The video could have been 3 minutes if the petticoat info hadn’t been repeated several times and the “reveal” time was shorter.
Hi Nayri, looking for some advice... I originally thought I would get a form fitting dress but ended up with a ballgown/a-line style instead which I love even more. I didn't originally want a ballgown as I don't want to feel too puffy and I'm getting married in a hot climate. The dress has not yet been altered to my height and I am 5'3 so there is some excess fabric and I don't know if that's what causing a pleated look in the skirt. I was thinking of taking one of the under layers out to have it more flat however now I'm think a hoop underneath may be a better choice for some structure? Could you advise if you would take layers out to make it more a-line, or go with a hoop to make it more full and possbily remove the gathering that is happening? Thank you :)
Hi Kelly! I would try a hoop if you're able and ask your seamstress how it would look if you added more layers of crinoline in without a hoop so you can see the difference in how the skirt looks along with how it moves. Your seamstress can guide you here on what will look best. Hope this helps!! :) Let me know if you have any other questions!
The crinoline layers should be sewn into the lining layer of your dress-not a separate skirt. Your seamstress can help guide you in achieving the fullness you want in your dress.
I was born in the 50s and grew up wearing petticoats, crinolines and slips. We dressed demurely and modestly and were taught manners, social, graces and good behavior, whether at home or elsewhere.
I'm dismayed by the brides who go shopping for a wedding gown without the undergarments that give the best fit. And the supposedly professional sales staff that doesn't recommend that they get the underpinnings.
That dress looks so much better without that petticoat.
Thank you for making this video! Super helpful 🥰
My pleasure! I'm so glad! :)
Thank you so much for posting this video. It's extremely helpful. I will refer back to it when it's time to meet with my dress designer.
Thank you so much for this video!
My absolute pleasure!!

I want my dress to look a little fuller but it has a slit… is there such a thing as a petticoat with a slit?

@ of course!! Ahh thank you 🤍🤍🤍

What about petticoats for mermaid dresses?
The crinoline layers should be sewn into the lining layer of your dress-not a separate skirt. Your seamstress can help guide you in achieving the fullness you want in your dress.

No one asked.
