Why are you guys the only ones who are doing informative videos on underskirts! I want a hoop because it feels amazing when walking around and not having the material by my feet. I don’t wear dresses normally. I’ve pulled the built in underskirt out of my dress and hoping to try a couple to see what it looks like. Keep it up ladies I love your videos!
Thank you so much, I needed to see this video, I just bought my wedding dress and it’s a beautiful crepe fabric style, I’ve been worrying about being able to walk with it, I’m happy to know that it’s perfectly ok to have an underskirt and it actually will help with keeping the shape of the dress and making it easier for me to walk with
Such a great video! Thanks for that. Which circumference of the hoop did you use in this video? I would expect 190 cm enough for a a-line dress? Can the difference to a 220 cm underskirt be seen?
Hi Elaine, glad you are enjoying the videos. With this sort of dress style, it is actually the layers are petticoats that are the most important factor. You won't need a hoop, but the more layers of petticoats that the underskirt has, will increase the fullness of the skirt. We have had ladies have a bit a fun with them and even had coloured underskirts! Will we hopefully cover tea-length bridal dress underskirts on our next underskirt video for you.
Glad you like the videos. You will need a petticoat that is for T-length dresses. The more layers of petticoats the fuller it will make the skirt. These petticoats don't usually have hoops in them, as the fabric isn't as heavy with shorter dresses. Hope this helps
Hi, Could you show what a fishtail underskirt is like with an a line dress please? My dress is boho ish with a heavy lace layer on top of 2 crepe layers. Ive struggled massively with finding the right underskirt as the top hoop of a 2 hoop shows through. My dress is now with the seamstress so i cant try any on with it. Hope you can help 🙏 X
I am so sorry, we have only just seen this. Our notifications have not been coming through. Hopefully you got it sorted, but we will make the video for future use. Thank you for the suggestion, hopefully it will help another bride x
Great video :) I wanted to ask is there anything you can do with wedding dresses with sides splits, I'm think i'm going to be tripping over my dress throughout the day. I have an A Line dress.
Hello ,I bought a dress but I don't know which type of petticoat I have to wear, this dress is a dress with train, and I would like to know can I use a underskirt with train?
Hi, yes you can still use a petticoat if you dress has a train. The petticoat will add structure to the skirt, without affecting the train. Go for a petticoat that is the same shape as your dress, for example an A-line dress will need an A-line petticoat. Hope this helps
I have the melissa sweet dress with the scalloped edges and spaghetti straps. Its flowy, airy and a line. I was wondering if I could put a petticoat under to make the bottom a little fuller?
Hi Brooke, yes definitely it just depends whether you want to keep It really floaty and airy as adding a underskirt will make it a little more stiff looking. I would try one and move around a little and take pics before and after and see what you prefer 😊 xx
@@thebrideguide101withjemmaj2 yesterday I went in for a fitting and tried it on with one of her petticoats and loved it! Problem is she rents them out and I'll need it for over a week, making the price insane. So I bought my own petticoat. It's a line but I'm worried it could be too poofy. Could that be fixed?
I have the same dress :D and was wondering about the exact same thing. But I actually like the airy, flowy look without a petticoat, my worry is if it`s gonna get stuck in-between my legs and make it more difficult to walk/dance?
@@morrighan8518 I ended up getting a mermaid style petticoat after trying about 10 different ones. I love it so much more now and it didn't lose the flowiness at all. The shape is beautiful and it made walking 1000 times easier. I would for sure try one on!
My dress has 3 layers of tulle fabric underneath it and 2 layers of the dress fabric it's a Sophia tollis corset dress to get a little bit of a poof what underskirt would I need to get please a 1 or 2 hoop ?
Hi Marie, if you are wanting just a little more structure to the skirt try a one hoop first. Most our brides prefer one hoop underskirts as it adds just a little bit more to the skirt 😊
@@thebrideguide101withjemmaj2 that's great thanks so much. It does have a little train at the back also would that make a difference. Do you think a seemless underskirt would work best as the dress Is fitted at the waist with it being a corset dress. Also what underwear would you recommend to wear underneath it however the bust area is boned. x
@@mariefishwick3832 The train shouldn't make a difference to the underskirt, seamless underwear is a good choice as it will give a good structure without being visible. If fitted correctly with a boned corset you may find you may not need a bra as you will have enough support in the dress. Most bridal dresses need a seamstress to work their magic to make the dress fit your perfectly, so it might be worth trying it with a bra and without at your fittings to see how you feel with it. You want to feel comfortable on your day so always choose underwear that is comfortable you can feel amazing! x

Glad you enjoyed the video. You will only see a slight difference, 190cm will be a enough to provide shape
Love your videos, very informative and fun! Do you have any guidance on underskirts to wear with shorter 50s style frocks? x

Without! Looks more natural and wonderfully, at less the underskirt without hoop, just 3 lines tulle!
We agree, without an underskirt gives a more relaxed, natural look
