    Hi and thank you for stopping by. Do you believe that your thoughts and beliefs can affect how much pain you feel in your voice? Yes or no? Let me know.

    I literally cried watching this video. I have been experiencing pain on and off throughout the past few months. It started when I overdid my voice after a cold. I had an audition coming up and probably pushed my voice too hard when it wasn't ready/healed. Since then I had many doctor visits and went by the ENT twice, just to hear that everything looks perfectly fine, and be sent home none the wiser. But it still doesn't feel fine to me. I have already noticed a clear correlation with anxiety. When I feel stressed or anxious my throat closes up and my muscles feel tense, resulting in pain and straining while talking or singing. Being a singer I worry a lot about that and it genuinely feels like my body doesn't know how to sing (or even talk) anymore and that gives me more anxiety and becomes a vicious circle. I've been taking long periods of vocal rest (also told to do that by my ENT), but watching your videos I see that I may have done more bad than good with that. You make me feel so understood and it already makes me worry less to know that I may finally have some direction as to how to deal with this...

    Hi Katarina, thank you for these helpful insights. I have been struggling with my voice for 11 months now (vocal misuse/abuse), and I almost reached a point where I would accept this as part of my identity. Until Saturday. I reminded myself of the beautiful voice I'm gifted with, and started taking deliberate action. Voice rest, steaming, drinking water, writing down affirmations and praying have really helped so far. I'm also reading Louise Hay's You can heal your life, as I do believe that thoughts and beliefs can influence the healing rate. Next week I will be seeing a speech therapist, who will guide me with the proper use of my voice. It's very easy to go in a downward spiral when you're experiencing (voice) problems, but I do believe you can be completely healed if you are willing to get to the root cause of the problem and take responsibility for your healing. Blessings, Morena🍃

    Hi Katarina, thank you so much for the video. I need to watch it every day! At the beginning of last month my throat started hurting while staffing a group trip. My only symptom was the sore throat, a low grade fever for a day, and then my voice started getting thinned out and tired and I had to clear my throat a lot (negative for Covid etc.). A month later and still strained throat, the ENT scoped me and said everything looked fine, just a little irritation in the center of the vocal cords. He diagnosed me with MTD but I'm struggling to understand what that *really* means. I can make sound and talk but I feel pain and tightness in the throat (I recently started a teaching job, so I have to project all the time). I also sing and play guitar and love to talk with friends, my voice is my life! I've tried resting it for a few days at a time but the pain and tight feeling come back when I need to use it again. Any thoughts on this? I will be watching your videos as part of my healing journey.

    Hi Katerina, when I talk in my day to day life, I have no pain. But when I speak on my podcast I get tons of pain in my throat. To the point that it get's so irritated that I get tears coming out of my eyes from voice cracking (not crying). I feel that this may be because I am trying to put on my "radio voice" to sound more animated. Any tips?

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  Год назад

      Your analysis is probably very correct. During your podcast, you are using your voice differently than during normal speaking and you probably use more force, muscle engagement or constriction. I suggest that you practice speaking for your podcast. Start with your "normal voice" and slowly add animation or loudness or expressions. Just add a little bit, practice it and see if you can sustain it without pain.

    I have been having similar problems with my voice too. On and off pulsating throat pain when I talk or sing( for an year and a half now). I’ve gone to am ENT doctor but the doctor said that everything was fine. I was really sad about it because I’m a person who uses their voice a lot. Just hoping to find a solution for this problem.

      That seems like a persistent pain as I described it in the video. I am sorry to hear that. But you can change that if you understand how pain is created in your body. Plus some other "mind" work. like changing your thoughts to more positive, meditation, somatic tracking etc.

      Would massage or stretching help to release a little bit of tension? Did you ask a physiotherapist? They may have some exercises to improve muscle function.

      @healthyvoicetips  2 года назад

      I don't think I can give you any home remedies if you don't know the cause of your pain. If it is a reaction to an acute condition, then it is treated differently as something that is more long-lasting. I would strongly suggest that you speak to a doctor and not look for home remedies on the internet.

      Pain is a very complex phenomenon. You don't have to think about your voice and pain still can show up based on previous experiences and other circumstances. There a lot of variables that affect our sensation of pain.
