I am always impressed by the music of gold, silver and cristal versions on gameboy. With so much limitations they managed to make really good music. If only Gamefreak team was continuing to push the limit of the technology. I appreciate a lot this top. Totally agree with the top 1 and with most of the top 10 :)
This list was awesome.. and then seeing number one.. my gosh I remember the first time I fought May.. on Ruby. What a grand time to be a kid when these games came out. Love how Gen 9 has some serious bangers in there. Honestly this is one of the best lists I’ve listened to.

SM’s soundtrack will always be nostalgic to me, Sun was the first pokemon game I ever got and played all the way through. I was 7 when it came out. Now I’m almost ready to drive. I still have my original cartridge. Man, does the music bring back memories.
that’s crazy to hear bc i remember picking it up my senior year of high school and being in a limbo where i’d have just about given up on pokemon. SM was the nail in the coffin for me and got me to quit for a good 5 years before finally returning back to the series
I appreciate that you actually had a good mix of gens; it felt like you were actually judging based on the music and not any bias towards which games you might prefer. Because obviously all Pokemon games have good songs in them. I would argue that increasing audio fidelity means that the last few gens can reach even greater heights, but it's awesome that older ones can still compete, especially since they all have remakes now. I guess you didn't include Legends Arceus though? The Origin Forme Palkia/Dialga fight theme is currently my #1 favorite Pokemon song. Others in my top ten would be Team Star Admin, Island Kahuna, Eternatus Phase 3, Red/Lance, Unova Elite Four, and the Reshiram/Zekrom fight theme.
It sound like a 20 years old laptop and it’s normal, technology weren’t developed enough when those versions came out. I don’t blame anyone for those music and they are not bad at all, just the technology was bad. There is remakes for those themes. No way he put his stupid nostalgia over a real objective classement. Because ORAS are good remakes, the ost remakes are better too. The worst Pokémon music classement I have ever witnessed.
It being the theme for the secret steven fight makes it go that much harder - they acknowledge your character is strong enough to have a master Champion as a *rival*
@@issiaka269 This is just my personal opinion, but I think that there is something good about that GBA sound source. Of course, the sounds of ORAS songs are very beautiful and I like them, but there are also sound quality that could only be produced in games from 20 years ago, and instrument sounds that haven't yet been able to express an orchestra. I like Rubisafa's BGM including all of them.

The common traits i see in the most popular battle themes is that aggressive pressure to disorganize us and to never let us rest, which is indeed intimidating lol Therefore I respect your reasoning to put it where its at But yes, the Team Star theme, Penny's theme i find quality pieces as well, all discovered thnx to your selection so i have added them to my YT playlist. Battle! Giratina is my ultimate favorite Pokemon OST.... not just battle theme!! My favorite track. Period. But it doesn't seem to be a particularly popular one. :') Was excited my other top three (Zero Lab and Ultra Necrozma) made an appearance, though! I really do like a lot of battle themes... it's mostly what I listen to when I listen to Pokemon music... kind of makes me want to make my own list.... lol. Great video!
The fact that the Scarlet and Violet tracks placed so highly, placing higher than some classics even without the backing of years (and in some cases, decades) of nostalgia, demonstrates the true quality and raw power of the SV ost. The ost, especially the professors theme, is criminally underrated amongst the Pokémon community. I also think that what you did for the description of the video is a creative idea. I disagree with some placements, but as a whole it is a solid list.
This is interesting. I think that when you do a list like this, you have to be careful with the new games and new songs because it's easy to think that the song is really good, but then stop feeling the same after some years. The thing is that you never know if this is gonna happen. One of the main differences between my first top 50 battle themes and this, is that several 8th generation themes fell in a lower position on the new video, and the reason is what I said... I meant, I love the new themes, specially the professors and the team star themes, but at the same time I'm kind of afraid about if in 10, 15, 20 years I'll think the same. The first time I listened the 3rd generation rival theme I thought it was great, and after 20 years I still thinking the same😄

No way Cynthia in BDSP and Evice in Colosseum are far harder than Volo It took me 60 attempts to defeat Cynthia in Diamond (DS) and Evice in Colosseum and 56 attempts to defeat Volo. Volo is a tough battle but its not a patch on Cynthia & Evice

A very interesting list! I don’t agree with some of the omissions (Zinnia and Wally in particular), but it’s your list and your opinion, and that’s alright. Plus, there are HUNDREDS of battle tracks throughout the series. Picking 50 in a specific order is no easy feat. That said, here are my personal top 5 (honorable mention to Volo’s theme. Those strings hit you like a freight train on steroids going at Mach 2 and it’s the best feeling). 5. Marnie (Normal OR final, they’re both equally peak) 4. Unova Elite Four (Honestly GameFreak has not missed with any of the E4 themes, I just like Unova’s the most). 3. Champion Kieran 2. Lorekeeper Zinnia 1. Victory Road Wally. Blew my 11yo mind when I first heard it from how amazing it was. Some songs I would put in my top 50 (no particular order) are the Magma/Aqua leaders in ORAS, Entei/Raikou/Suicune from Gen 2 or ORAS, any Elite Four theme (except maybe Sinnoh’s), the Paldea Rivals (from best to least good: Arven, Penny, Nemona. Love them all though), most of the other evil team leaders (Piers and Guzma especially, on top of the M/A leaders), N’ final battle, most/all the main legendary themes, AI Professor (both the main battle itself and the glorified cutscene that is the duel between your bike dragons afterward), Galar gym leader, and some others that don’t come to mind.
@@acordsjuganersAmong your top 10? Probably only the Hoenn rival theme, or at least it would be considerably lower. It’s a great theme, but it just never really stood out to me as much. Aside from that, I think everything in your top 10 would be somewhere on the list, but not necessarily the top 10 (N’s final battle definitely would be though).
Oh, I think the first place is just for nostalgia and affection, But I really don't think it deserves the First place... I think that even though it is a very unpopular opinion, the place should have been for the battle against Ultranecrozma
I’m thinking the only ones I would have included would have been Lysander’s theme, the legendary battles for solgaleo/lunala and ho-oh, the xerneas/yveltal theme and the hoenn weather trio theme
Gotta say, there's a lot of nostalgia here with these themes. My Top Ten (there was one I ALMOST forgot until I heard it here) are as follows: 10. Gym Leader Battle - Pokémon Sword and Shield (Barely got beat out by the next one) 9. Elite Four Battle - Pokémon Sun and Moon (This one sounded more intimidating than most of the other Elite Four Battles.) 8. Legendary Battle (XY Legendaries) - Pokémon X and Y 7. Champion Diantha - Pokémon X and Y 6. Champion Steven - Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (the original one is still good too) 5. Champion Cynthia - Pokémon Diamond and Pearl (Haven't gotten to her yet in Shining Pearl, so I hope it stacks up to this one!) 4. Rival Gladion - Pokémon Sun/Moon (Had one of the best Rival arcs I've seen.) 3. Champion Defense - Pokémon Sun/Moon (This one was really the first time I felt like a Champion and getting to take on other challengers, with a new one each time you completed the Elite Four) 2. Team Star Grunt Battle - Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (By far the BEST of all the Grunt Battle themes so far. Wish you could hear it more after you beat them all, though.) 1. AI Professor Battle - Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (I love this theme to death! It's so awesome, but sadly, we never get to hear it again, ever... Not even during the post-game.)
(Sigh) 😔 Not many people appreciate Geeta's theme; does every theme needs to be excellent acoustically and not much structurally? These two terms, although going hand-to-hand, definitely appeal as distinct features in Geeta's theme. Everyone loves listening to the type of music they love to hear; like the loud melody in Team Star Admin Theme, or the feeling of ultimate moment in Blue's theme, or even the fight-or-flight jerk in Cynthia's theme, but can we listen beyond what we adore and appreciate this battle theme it is deserving of?
I agree with your point of view. I believe you expressed it quite effectively. As you are aware, the video is merely my view, and despite the fact that Geeta's theme has an unusual structure, that it is a long, energetic, and original theme, I just like it. At last, you can admire a song and understand that it's good, but that doesn't mean you'll like it right away. I can think of other video game tracks when the same thing happened to me, but I'm sure it's happened to you as well. I waited the entire game to hear the Paldea champion's music, and when I did, I didn't get the same feeling I did with the other ones. For me, the theme of Diantha, whose theme almost no one likes, is still a legitimate contender as a champion theme. But, in the end, this is just my opinion. I understand that it's a good song structurally, and I can see why you like it. Thanks for the comment!

Hmm Intimidating is a right description. The common traits i see in the most popular battle themes is that aggressive pressure to disorganize us and to never let us rest, which is indeed intimidating lol

The fact that the Scarlet and Violet tracks placed so highly, placing higher than some classics even without the backing of years (and in some cases, decades) of nostalgia, demonstrates the true quality and raw power of the SV ost. The ost, especially the professors theme, is criminally underrated amongst the Pokémon community. I also think that what you did for the description of the video is a creative idea. I disagree with some placements, but as a whole it is a solid list.

This is interesting. I think that when you do a list like this, you have to be careful with the new games and new songs because it's easy to think that the song is really good, but then stop feeling the same after some years. The thing is that you never know if this is gonna happen.
One of the main differences between my first top 50 battle themes and this, is that several 8th generation themes fell in a lower position on the new video, and the reason is what I said...
I meant, I love the new themes, specially the professors and the team star themes, but at the same time I'm kind of afraid about if in 10, 15, 20 years I'll think the same. The first time I listened the 3rd generation rival theme I thought it was great, and after 20 years I still thinking the same😄

It took me 60 attempts to defeat Cynthia in Diamond (DS) and Evice in Colosseum and 56 attempts to defeat Volo.
Volo is a tough battle but its not a patch on Cynthia & Evice

A very interesting list! I don’t agree with some of the omissions (Zinnia and Wally in particular), but it’s your list and your opinion, and that’s alright. Plus, there are HUNDREDS of battle tracks throughout the series. Picking 50 in a specific order is no easy feat. That said, here are my personal top 5 (honorable mention to Volo’s theme. Those strings hit you like a freight train on steroids going at Mach 2 and it’s the best feeling).
5. Marnie (Normal OR final, they’re both equally peak)
4. Unova Elite Four (Honestly GameFreak has not missed with any of the E4 themes, I just like Unova’s the most).

1. Victory Road Wally. Blew my 11yo mind when I first heard it from how amazing it was.
Some songs I would put in my top 50 (no particular order) are the Magma/Aqua leaders in ORAS, Entei/Raikou/Suicune from Gen 2 or ORAS, any Elite Four theme (except maybe Sinnoh’s), the Paldea Rivals (from best to least good: Arven, Penny, Nemona. Love them all though), most of the other evil team leaders (Piers and Guzma especially, on top of the M/A leaders), N’ final battle, most/all the main legendary themes, AI Professor (both the main battle itself and the glorified cutscene that is the duel between your bike dragons afterward), Galar gym leader, and some others that don’t come to mind.

Aside from that, I think everything in your top 10 would be somewhere on the list, but not necessarily the top 10 (N’s final battle definitely would be though).

I’m thinking the only ones I would have included would have been Lysander’s theme, the legendary battles for solgaleo/lunala and ho-oh, the xerneas/yveltal theme and the hoenn weather trio theme
Gotta say, there's a lot of nostalgia here with these themes. My Top Ten (there was one I ALMOST forgot until I heard it here) are as follows:
10. Gym Leader Battle - Pokémon Sword and Shield (Barely got beat out by the next one)
9. Elite Four Battle - Pokémon Sun and Moon (This one sounded more intimidating than most of the other Elite Four Battles.)
8. Legendary Battle (XY Legendaries) - Pokémon X and Y
7. Champion Diantha - Pokémon X and Y
6. Champion Steven - Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (the original one is still good too)
5. Champion Cynthia - Pokémon Diamond and Pearl (Haven't gotten to her yet in Shining Pearl, so I hope it stacks up to this one!)
4. Rival Gladion - Pokémon Sun/Moon (Had one of the best Rival arcs I've seen.)
3. Champion Defense - Pokémon Sun/Moon (This one was really the first time I felt like a Champion and getting to take on other challengers, with a new one each time you completed the Elite Four)
2. Team Star Grunt Battle - Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (By far the BEST of all the Grunt Battle themes so far. Wish you could hear it more after you beat them all, though.)
1. AI Professor Battle - Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (I love this theme to death! It's so awesome, but sadly, we never get to hear it again, ever... Not even during the post-game.)
About the ai professor theme, I believe you can use it when you do online battles so that's one way to hear it again!

(Sigh) 😔 Not many people appreciate Geeta's theme; does every theme needs to be excellent acoustically and not much structurally? These two terms, although going hand-to-hand, definitely appeal as distinct features in Geeta's theme. Everyone loves listening to the type of music they love to hear; like the loud melody in Team Star Admin Theme, or the feeling of ultimate moment in Blue's theme, or even the fight-or-flight jerk in Cynthia's theme, but can we listen beyond what we adore and appreciate this battle theme it is deserving of?

As you are aware, the video is merely my view, and despite the fact that Geeta's theme has an unusual structure, that it is a long, energetic, and original theme, I just like it.
At last, you can admire a song and understand that it's good, but that doesn't mean you'll like it right away.
I can think of other video game tracks when the same thing happened to me, but I'm sure it's happened to you as well.
I waited the entire game to hear the Paldea champion's music, and when I did, I didn't get the same feeling I did with the other ones. For me, the theme of Diantha, whose theme almost no one likes, is still a legitimate contender as a champion theme.
But, in the end, this is just my opinion. I understand that it's a good song structurally, and I can see why you like it. Thanks for the comment!
