Legends actually doesn't have any original battle themes as far as I'm aware? It's all remixes of DPPt stuff. So its exclusion here makes a lot of sense.

This video made me realize just how many battle themes the last few generations have had. By my count, this medley has... - 4 themes from Gen I - 9 themes from Gen II - 12 themes from Gen III (10 from RS, 1 from FRLG, 1 from Emerald) - 15 themes from Gen IV (11 from DP, 2 from Platinum, 2 from HGSS) - 19 themes from Gen V (13 from BW, 6 from B2W2) - 12 themes from Gen VI (10 from XY, 2 from ORAS) - 22 themes from Gen VII (18 from SM, 4 from USUM) - 32 themes from Gen VIII (22 from base SwSh, 9 from SwSh DLC, 1 from BDSP) - 26 themes from Gen IX More than half of the songs in this video come from just the last three generations. That's crazy!
A lot of it comes down to how limited the storage space was in the old games. Having to fit everything onto a single GameBoy cartridge could not have been easy. With the expanded space the later generations had on larger cartridges, and also with more games per generation, it was a lot easier to add themes for special battles, enemy teams, rivals, Legendaries, and so on.
@@griffinives866 To be fair, all of the battle themes in Legends are remixes of songs from DPPt. That's probably why they weren't included in the medley.

I SCREAMED when I saw this in my recommended! I listen to your Paper Mario Medley at least one a week, and this one is up there! It's technically not EVERY battle theme (Orre, anyone?) but it's pretty damn close. Maybe the battle themes from the spin-offs could be a future project? I love listening to these medleys and trying to ID each song just from sound. I got...maybe 1/4 of them? Gives me an excuse to listen to this again lol. Keep up the great mixing work!

This is an absolute masterpiece and I love how this starts with the first battle theme you hear in the last game and ends with the last one you hear in the same game. This game series doesn't have a bad song in it. Great work!

I noticed that, with all of the battle music using the same soundfonts here, some of the later generations' music (which are all funky or techno or luau, etc) actually sound more like the traditional battle music from the 2D games!

The home stretch before the champion countdown at 29:25 is so awesome and satisfying!! Starting with the instances of the main theme and then going to the most hype and epic moments in the games with the battles of Koraidon/Miraidon vs themselves and Zacian and Zamazenta vs Eteramax Eternatus!!
I feel like the only stuff that's missing from this is everything from Legends: Arceus, but that's moreso a matter of me considering that game to be 'main series', and then the Neo Team Plasma theme from Black and White 2, which I think is different enough from the one in the original B/W to count (It's in 4/4 instead of 12/8 and has a faster tempo, plus the Team Plasma theme is complex enough that you could pull from a different part of it). Otherwise, phenomenal video, I can't wait to hear more...

More than half of the songs in this video come from just the last three generations. That's crazy!
A lot of it comes down to how limited the storage space was in the old games. Having to fit everything onto a single GameBoy cartridge could not have been easy. With the expanded space the later generations had on larger cartridges, and also with more games per generation, it was a lot easier to add themes for special battles, enemy teams, rivals, Legendaries, and so on.

@@griffinives866 To be fair, all of the battle themes in Legends are remixes of songs from DPPt. That's probably why they weren't included in the medley.

I SCREAMED when I saw this in my recommended! I listen to your Paper Mario Medley at least one a week, and this one is up there! It's technically not EVERY battle theme (Orre, anyone?) but it's pretty damn close. Maybe the battle themes from the spin-offs could be a future project?
I love listening to these medleys and trying to ID each song just from sound. I got...maybe 1/4 of them? Gives me an excuse to listen to this again lol. Keep up the great mixing work!

I noticed that, with all of the battle music using the same soundfonts here, some of the later generations' music (which are all funky or techno or luau, etc) actually sound more like the traditional battle music from the 2D games!

The home stretch before the champion countdown at 29:25 is so awesome and satisfying!! Starting with the instances of the main theme and then going to the most hype and epic moments in the games with the battles of Koraidon/Miraidon vs themselves and Zacian and Zamazenta vs Eteramax Eternatus!!

These go really well, i would love to hear an extended version of this. I am suprised by how well you managed to get these to flow together
I feel like the only stuff that's missing from this is everything from Legends: Arceus, but that's moreso a matter of me considering that game to be 'main series', and then the Neo Team Plasma theme from Black and White 2, which I think is different enough from the one in the original B/W to count (It's in 4/4 instead of 12/8 and has a faster tempo, plus the Team Plasma theme is complex enough that you could pull from a different part of it). Otherwise, phenomenal video, I can't wait to hear more...
When the next 9 gens come out, im expecting a 1 hour version with the next 9 gens incorporated
