I love the sets. Those really look like levels from the game. The acting was great too.

After watching The Last of Us series, I returned to this video and I'm still surprised; it's incredible that a video from 10 years ago, made by a small team, achieved such good results!

I feel like this joel is perfect, and his voice sounds a lot like him
The setting was really good, and the actress that played Ellie did a good just except she didn't really sound like her. I'm not talking about her actual voice, I'm talking about how in the game Ellie kinda has an angry tone when they are in a situation where they have to fight. This Ellie sounds scared and worried. Overall, you did a really good job.

This is awesome! But coming from a critic stand point, some of the lines directly from the game seem very forced. The guy who's playing Joel is great, but the girl playing Ellie could be better. Not saying she's a bad actress, but it just feels like she's trying to hard and not natural enough like Joel. Either way I enjoyed this, good job on making a great fan film!
I completely agree also this is a nit-pick but I've played the game so many times that I noticed some of those lines directly from the game had slight wording mistakes its not a problem at all because I don't think most people would notice something so miner but you know just saying

I agree; I feel like she wasn't becoming the character like the actor for Joel. She kind of just read the lines; I'm not sure if that's a problem with the script or if that was her own choice, but it really dulls out the character.

Purely constructive criticism: Hearing the same exact dialogue from the game was actually really weird for me and took me out of the film, not sure if it was the same for everyone else.
This is still one of the best fan films for the Last of Us, I just think that different dialogue should have been used.

what are you guys talkin about???? you guys are trippin! this is absolutely AMAZING!!! they look and sound exactly like the game. and they are like the perfect height ratio to each other like the game. when theyr'e being shot from far away, i feel like i'm actually looking at game footage!! this is 100 times better than any real hollywood studio can come up with. if a real hollywood studio made this, they would have fucked everything up. from the way the characters look to how they acted and sounded. i mean look at dragonball evolution and the new ninja turtles, wtf was that!!!????? In dragonball evolution, they didn't even make bulma's hair blue in the movie and they made her a fearless fighter and gunner??? WTF. Bulma's supposed to be a coward. Master Roshi was chow-yun fat and he's not even old, are you kidding me. Master Roshi is supposed to be an old perverted grandmaster grandpa with a bald head and long white beard not short black hair!!!! Wasn't overly keen on the performance of the girl who portrays Ellie, if I am totally honest. Ridiculously cool otherwise.

Have to say I can't ignore the issues with the Ellie character - the actress is just too old and the performance...it's fine. I think the main problem is the age, it offsets her look and her voice. We are meant to believe that these two could be father and daughter and that age gap looks pretty impossible in this version. That being said - holy shit, you found the perfect actor for Joel!

I've done low budget movies before as well and all things considered, you made definitely made the most out of a small budget. I appreciate how difficult it must have been to find someone to play Ellie and you are of course right - unless you are talking about a big production, getting actual kids on a dangerous set is a real problem (even when it is a big production it is no picnic.) Don't get me wrong, I didn't think the performance was bad - I think it is just the same issue that everyone feels who is in love with the source material (as it is with almost any adaptation of a beloved story.) We all have a lot of trouble letting go of the very particular aesthetic chosen by naughty dog to portray a particularly young looking girl as Ellie, which made a huge impact on most of the audience when we see her in unbelievably 'adult' situations. I imagine this was something that was considered by the production team and hence why you considered so many candidates. Anyway, I'm going to go check out the sequel immediately and, once again, you owned that role of Joel. Congratulations with the positive reception your films are getting - could there maybe be a crowd-funded project in the future as a result of all this?

I watch a lot of fan films, and this is DEFINITELY one of the best I've ever seen. The production values are amazing, and I love how both actors move and gesture just like Ellie and Joel. Amazing work, can't wait to see Part 2!

It's amazing how you got actors that looked exactly like them and they can actually act! I mean of course I can't compare it to the actual Last of Us because it's a game but this is amazing within itself, it'd be one thing if you were copying it off a tv series but the fact that it's a game makes it so much more impressive. And I really enjoyed the cinematography, i'm so showing this to my Film Studies class in college!

The sets do look just like the game, it is neat. However, from experience of playing this game over, and over again, the responses from Joel don't seem genuine. I noticed in the game Joel kind of gives Ellie simple answers or he doesnt explain things so fully like its done here. he also doesnt speak so fast. For example, when they spoke about the evacuation sign, Ellie would say where, and he would have most likely say, after a slight pause, "quarintine zone I suppose." and nothing more unless she asked another question.

Holy wowzerz that was awesome! However, the actor that plays Joel would be perfect for young Joel(pre-outbreak), and could have used a lil deeper voice for the older Joel. Ellie's actress could have been a lil younger but she still sounds great. Some of the game dialogue, like the whole "how bout thanks for saving my ass" conversation felt really forced. Those are jus lil nitpicks, the absence of them takes very little away from the amazing fan-film you all have created. Super Kudos to everyone who worked on this project!
