In the games Nathan Drake is in his 30s. Nathan Fillion is in his 50s now. I also don't want it to be like the Book the Boba Fett age problem where you have a old dude play a young dude. What's also funny is that my name is Sam and I have a younger brother named Nathan. Im a dude btw
Because Tom Holland is popular due to Spider-Man. The Spider-Man movies and the Uncharted movie is under Sony, so it works out for them. Similarly how there's a "Disney family" where actors/actresses in a Marvel movie will sometimes show up in a Disney movie. For example, Robert Downey Jr is Tony Stark/Iron Man in Marvel movies, and he was in Dolittle. Tom Holland is in Spider-Man (Sony), Marvel movies (Civil War, Infinity War, etc) and Onward (Disney).

@ickisistheshitz Fan made doesn't mean amateur, it means made by fan. This didn't air anywhere but the internet I don't think. Anyways, Fillion is the perfect (old) Nathan Drake.
@ickisistheshitz "Fan-Made" doesn't mean Amateur. It could be made by some Big Studio and it still would be "Fan Made". "Fan-Made" also doesn't mean they don't get paid. Also "Amateur" doesn't mean they don't get paid either. "Fan Made" means just that it wasn't done by the Official Studio that owns the Rights to the Title/Characters/Projects (in this situation - it wasn't done by SONY, so it's "Fan-Made") In fact, most of the Fan-Films and Fan-Series have actors that are well paid for their role in these Projects. Amateur means that it wasn't done by a Proffesionalist that's been doing it for Years and has a Background of known titles (for example Jon Favreau is a Proffesionalist). For example: "Hazbin Hotel". The Authoress hired actual Voice Actors (like Stamper) and other Animators/Artists to help her with the Project. They are normally paid for their work.
@ickisistheshitz I think Nathan Fillion put money into the project, I read in an article that the director is from Toronto and they teamed up to make this. Also Fillion has expressed that he would love to play Drake in a film so that makes him a fan

There was a lot of retcons in that movie just to make references to the game. And then frickin Mark Walberg played Mark Walberg. And Tom Holland... well he tried
10:57 The way the camera imitates a cutscene to gameplay transition is just genius. Honestly, this whole fan film is simply brilliant. I doubt Hollywood could pull off something this great.
Hollywood could pull this off. The problem is that studio execs don't understand video games and they try to change things to suit a wider audience. The driving force to make more money is what these kinds of movies lose money.
That scene was so good! Not only the cut-scene transition but that whole scene. Like when Nathan bends at the corner and the camera goes a little on the side so we can see around the corner.
It's like that time they got the OG movie Punisher Tom Jane for a Punisher fan film. Granted it was a lot shorter than this but still, also had Ron Perlman in it
Fawesum being better than the likes of ass creed, agent 47, tomb raider and other films isn't goat It's a short film and it's wrong to compare it with a feature but i would be lying if I said that i didn't enjoy it much more than any of those other films
I believe it's because the hollywood movies needs to sell itself to more than just the fans of the game, and thus attempts to become a more generic action/adventure movie that appeals to more than just the gamers
Now this is art and a billion times better than the Hollywood version. Better casting, better story, the heist and interactions felt like it was taken straight from the games. Even the fight moves are exactly the same with the quick double punch, elbow to the face or when fighting being grabbed and the jump kick. It's perfect.
I did watch the Uncharted with Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg and I wasn't that satisfied with the movie at all. Nathan Drake was in his 30's btw when he began his first adventure and Tom was in his 20's doesn't make sense how they picked him
@@PhillDrakeEntertainment yea the movie was absolute trash. Tom is too young and baby face, mark looks too young for sully but his face and mannerisms would have suited Nathan better but he's like 50. Then the goofy kid friendly fights when most fans are adults, like how he didn't use a gun once until the end and he missed. They messed up Nathan's origin with sully, how they trust and interact, the combat everything.
Nathan Fillion is a dedicated actor. He actually knows the story, Nolan Norths speech cues, Nathans fighting style, an actual Game perspective. He did an amazing job and I seriously hope this makes it onto the big screen with a bigger budget
Christian Ramirez I hope so too, but he really needs to learn how to run properly and get more fit coz that’s essential lol. Other than that, he’s great
Drake is heavily based on Nathan's Firefly character Mal, so i'd say Nolan was the one that knew and copied Fillion's style, not the other way around. They even hired Firefly's composer for Uncharted.
I think he'll grow it later or perhaps in a post credits scene where some timelapse happens because that trailer looked like both Nate and Sully's early years. Like the beginning sections of Uncharted 3, but they've used some heavy references from all the three games so you guys are a bit confused.
My biggest issue is that Mark Wahlberg is playing himself as always. Not even an attempt to get in character for Sully. This video portrays the characters just like the games. The charm, the humor. Amazing work! Edit: After watching the movie, I still stand by this comment!
yup and honestly after seeing the film they didn't even really do the whole climbing thing which is what i thought would be the thing holding nathan back from doing a film because of his age. But honestly that wasn't even a thing with holland either. It was much more clue hunting in the film than outright dangerous set pieces so they could have worked around that with an older actor just as well.
Honestly, Sony has not been fair to Fillion. He was made for this role. The movies should have been made years ago and it hurts that he's aging too. What a waste
Nathan Fillion doesn't really do movies, other than minor side roles with little screen time. I think the only movie he's been the lead in was Serenity and that's cause it was a follow up to Firefly. As much as I would love him in a full length Uncharted movie, he would likely turn it down.
@@bingo5387 That's not what I heard. Among other things he had signed up for the casting of the film "Green Lantern". Ryan Reynolds was accepted and the movie flopped. I think basically he is not averse to movies, especially since he had the leading role in the movie "Slither" besides Serenity.
@@heavyBoomer2k Ok, well maybe hollywood just doesn't like him or something, he's definitely hasn't been the lead in anything big. After making that comment I saw that he's actually a huge fan of the games, which is why he did the fan film, so he probably would do it if asked and was available. The problem is that for the last many many years, he's been the lead on one show or another that he probably has contracts with, so he can't really be in any movies if it's going to take months of filming and gets in the way of the shows schedule.
@@bingo5387 well I do see a lot of TV stars dont do films until recently with the long form episode style, where each episode is basically a movie in itself. My guess its most likely scheduling, Tv shows are constant and most likely dont leave much time for dedicated shootings like those in movies. He is in the new suicide squad though
Man, Naughty Dog SURE did update their game engine, Drake looks just like Nathan Fillion! Also, WHY CAN'T THIS BE A FULL MOVIE?! Just some awesome quality work .
A little awkward for a movie, but as a one off nod towards the gamers I guess it could be fine. As a demo/pilot this was ok I guess, hope they get the funding and go-ahead for a movie or a tv show.
Actually, according to the games timeline Holland will be playing a 14ish year old nate... this is going off of the fact that they picked Mark for sully tho. Cause the only time we've seen sully that young was when nate was 14 For context, it is proven the movie is set before the games. The rest is me talking about ages because the only time in game that we've seen sully that young was when nate was 14. It isn't confirmed fact nor did I say it was.
If they can keep making harrison ford indiana jones at his age and clint Eastwood a cowboy still. Hollywood should have no problem making Fillion nathan drake
me for one nothing the big budget movie has will come close to this the casting (the villains omg, they are perfect too), the respect, the usage of elements from the games, it's all there in these 14 minutes
Tommaso Scandola i’d definitely settle for a good miniseries. Flesh out the rest of this adventure. The only question would be, where does this scene take place? Is it like Uncharted 2 where we saw the train crash but then we played sections before that before returning to the open scene of the train? Or do we just continue on from here as this has all the makings of a solid intro and breaking the flow that it ended on would create a kind of disconnect. I could also make a point for meeting both scenarios halfway by splitting this scene. So that before the action and exposition took place we had a call back toward the events that lead up to this moment. Including the heist that acquired the bracelet, culminating with his capture which brings us back to this moment.
@Andrenden, yes, it could be both ways, even though I would not split this scene. Uncharted has always been pretty much "regular" with the narration. It has only major flashbacks, but the story is not "fragmented". Anyway, this is just a video editing problem, so it's a "secondary" thing.
That part where it moved from "cutscene" to "third person shooter" mode was simply amazing. Nathan F. mimicked the movements of Nathan D. so well. I can't believe this is a real.
Seriously. That was actually super trippy for me and I legit almost jumped to reach for my controller because I thought it was time to do something. That's how accurate it was
This 15 minute Uncharted movie is much better than the original Uncharted movie. The actors, locations and story resemble the game much more than the actual film!!!! Really nice work
@@doglegs7 that’s exactly what the “trailers” are intended for. They’re meant to help you to make a judgement as to whether or not the film is worth spending your hard earned money to see or not. The first trailer showed how their first Sonic design and ppl hate it. What did they do? They redesign it so that ppl can watch it.. While the new Uncharted movie trailer doesn’t look THAT bad, it clearly needs some improvements
@@doglegs7 Anyone can make that judgement cause most movies nowadays you can see it's not good by the trailer alone. From Star wars to Terminator etc. Casting alone and how they act makes your expectations set to low, fans know their franchise and the official one doesn't look like it, it's basically catered to the non fan of the franchise, making tom the seller not the movie itself since he's the highest grossing actor in Hollywood right now. Tom as the young nate is acceptable but he needs to act more like nate, he's acting as peter parker, markie mark was a deliberate miss.
There's just no point in making a uncharted movie honestly lol. The games and this cool short fan film are more than enough not to mention they're already cinematic af. Not every piece of content has to transcend every kind of media. Lotta people ain't ready for that conversation tho lmao.
They need to delay the movie. The fans are looking for fking UnCharted. Not some random movie cash grab filled with current popular actors like tom holland. Its not the actors fault, its bad directing and choices. Sully doesnt even have his mustache or cigar, I mean who is that guy??
True. Hollywood adaptions of videogames often suck because the directors apparently have no clue about the games they're actually adapting. It needs a true fan to please true fans ;-)
That part where he paused when they took the thing off his head and he went "Hey fellas", that was real Hollywood esque. This was so freaking professional.
I heard a rumor of Tom Holland being cast. Really hope not. It was a stretch to believe Marky Mark could act the part, but Nathan is perfect...when he isn’t being so jokey. A less cartoony style would only make this better.
By far the best thing Nathan fillion did in this was the way he talked exactly like Nate does, especially when he got exited at the end started talking fast about past history👌

Sure Nathan Fillion is a little older and not ripped, but if he was given a few months to work out he’d be perfect. Dude looks and acts exactly like Drake
i am sure it seems that i am commenting on 4 month old comment but, Nathan drake isn't a ripped guy, or masculine guy, nor so fat... (Even they made obese drake model for a purpose). He is just a regular guy who looks the same as Indiana jones... So basically tom holland has no relation to Nathan drake but, nathan fillion perfectly fit to character.

The 3rd person shooting scene was also an incredible touch that the new movie is never gonna jump on. The casting for Sully and Elena was perfect also.
Castings tend to be a problem for big budget movies. What I've heard often happens is that you get to cast one character as you wish, and most of the rest are cast through an agency the actor is a part of because of contracts. This is an independent project, therefore this problem is unlikely
Whoever wrote the dialog either read all the scripts for the games or played and respected it. I’m leaning toward the respect because the tone is pitch perfect.

Hopefully Tom Holland is only playing young Drake and the sequel we get this guy
The media likes to push actors and actresses that are popular. People like Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet and (not now but at the time) Jennifer Lawrence.

Right! Perfect casting and writing. With a bigger budget they'd make the PERFECT uncharted movie.
@ickisistheshitz Can´t Nathan Fillion be a fan of the series as well? There would be no reason for him to do this, otherwise.
@ickisistheshitz Fan made doesn't mean amateur, it means made by fan. This didn't air anywhere but the internet I don't think. Anyways, Fillion is the perfect (old) Nathan Drake.
@ickisistheshitz
"Fan-Made" doesn't mean Amateur. It could be made by some Big Studio and it still would be "Fan Made".
"Fan-Made" also doesn't mean they don't get paid.
Also "Amateur" doesn't mean they don't get paid either.
"Fan Made" means just that it wasn't done by the Official Studio that owns the Rights to the Title/Characters/Projects (in this situation - it wasn't done by SONY, so it's "Fan-Made")
In fact, most of the Fan-Films and Fan-Series have actors that are well paid for their role in these Projects.
Amateur means that it wasn't done by a Proffesionalist that's been doing it for Years and has a Background of known titles (for example Jon Favreau is a Proffesionalist).
For example:
"Hazbin Hotel".

Looks like him too

His the voice actor of nathan

This really does capture the vibe and the casting is so much better.
Doesn't matter if Fillion is older, just pretend it's Uncharted 5 lol.
Actually, according to the games timeline Holland will be playing a 14ish year old nate... this is going off of the fact that they picked Mark for sully tho. Cause the only time we've seen sully that young was when nate was 14
For context, it is proven the movie is set before the games. The rest is me talking about ages because the only time in game that we've seen sully that young was when nate was 14. It isn't confirmed fact nor did I say it was.
@@solidunicrn6549 theirs a trailer out right now, what you said it not true.
Yeah I just see this as an older Nathan & etc, Uncharted
If they can keep making harrison ford indiana jones at his age and clint Eastwood a cowboy still. Hollywood should have no problem making Fillion nathan drake
@@RINZLER2010 nailed it

Perfect representation
Perfect actors that fit the face and role

Who's here after watching the Sony Uncharted trailer to appreciate a better version we'll never get?
me for one
nothing the big budget movie has will come close to this
the casting (the villains omg, they are perfect too), the respect, the usage of elements from the games, it's all there in these 14 minutes
Me. Garbage casting Sony. Should be ashamed.
Tom Holland is supposed to be a young Nathan Drake, i think there is a possibility we get this actor on the next movies
Me. I need Fillion in the actual movie and sully shouldn't be goddamn Wahlberg
Me, me, me!!
Blown away, devastated. This is incredible. Seriously, I would pay to watch a full length movie in theaters.
Or a TV show.
Tommaso Scandola DEFINITELY a tv show would be better
Not being sarcastic
Hola browntable
That part where it moved from "cutscene" to "third person shooter" mode was simply amazing. Nathan F. mimicked the movements of Nathan D. so well. I can't believe this is a real.
Seriously. That was actually super trippy for me and I legit almost jumped to reach for my controller because I thought it was time to do something. That's how accurate it was
@Shaylin I totally agree. It's a shame they didn't go in this direction
I noticed that too, though I was wondering why he wasn't leaping into cover.
I saw that part and said "Oh is this where the gameplay starts?"
i felt like catching my controller for a sec
This 15 minute Uncharted movie is much better than the original Uncharted movie. The actors, locations and story resemble the game much more than the actual film!!!! Really nice work
This is soooooooo much better than the "official" movie. The scenes, sequence, dialogues, and cast, especially Fillion is SPOT on.
The movie isn’t even out tho
@@doglegs7 that’s exactly what the “trailers” are intended for. They’re meant to help you to make a judgement as to whether or not the film is worth spending your hard earned money to see or not. Their bet is on you saying “YES”!
What the viewer must then do, is decide if they believe if the film makers have or have not made their case.
Remember the Sonic movie (2020) disaster? The first trailer showed how their first Sonic design and ppl hate it. What did they do? They redesign it so that ppl can watch it..
While the new Uncharted movie trailer doesn’t look THAT bad, it clearly needs some improvements
Sully is on point as well, just need more rough in the voice but he's the closes sully than markie mark.
@@doglegs7
Anyone can make that judgement cause most movies nowadays you can see it's not good by the trailer alone.
Still the best Uncharted movie in 2021, Sony. Sully needs a fucking 'stache.
And a cigar
100%..and the attitude to match!
They need to delay the movie. The fans are looking for fking UnCharted. Not some random movie cash grab filled with current popular actors like tom holland. Its not the actors fault, its bad directing and choices. Sully doesnt even have his mustache or cigar, I mean who is that guy??
Tom Hanks would make a perfect Sully
YESSSSSS
This just shows that hollywood is wasting away and that fan-films are the future.
True. Hollywood adaptions of videogames often suck because the directors apparently have no clue about the games they're actually adapting.
It needs a true fan to please true fans ;-)
MCP/ChronicBuzz i couldn't agree more. Just like assassins creed that movie sucked
@@R4Y2k you mean producers, not directors?
@@davidwills9469 my god was it bad... it was cringe.
@@alberto148 Well, in fact it's the whole bunch, from authors to producers to directors...
That part where he paused when they took the thing off his head and he went "Hey fellas", that was real Hollywood esque. This was so freaking professional.
THIS NEEDS TO BE MADE OFFICIAL AND CONTINUED!
I agree, either a trilogy or a series on Netflix.
There is a film coming out. But Tom Holland is acting as young Drake.
This guy nailed it, Nathan Fillion is Nathan Drake. The guy from Avatar did a fantastic job as Sully.
John Berroa I didn’t even realize until you said that was him! 😮

Spidey Knight ha-ha he's forever alone like every other gamer 😂
Funny seeing you here
I've forgotten about this gem. This casting couldn't get any more perfect. This felt like an authentic Uncharted experience.
Nathan Fillion playing Nathan Drake... It just works.
One does not simply is that a jojo reference?
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Jeremy Renner would also be a great fit, he's 5'9" and Fillion is 6'2", Drake isn't supposed to be tall, but Fillion still did a pretty great job.
I heard a rumor of Tom Holland being cast. Really hope not. It was a stretch to believe Marky Mark could act the part, but Nathan is perfect...when he isn’t being so jokey. A less cartoony style would only make this better.
Tom Holland was supposed to be the "young nathan"
By far the best thing Nathan fillion did in this was the way he talked exactly like Nate does, especially when he got exited at the end started talking fast about past history👌
wasnt nathan drake actually modeled over this dude. I remember reading long ago that he was modeled after nathan fillion and the guy from jackass.
@@Lord_ofcinder yeah. ND are big fans of Firefly so they based Drake on Fillion

This 15 minute short movie is 10 times better than the 2 hour movie with Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.
Ikr?
Absolutely! No 10 times better.. Or rather; a 1000 times better.. The official film is an insult to good taste, the essence of games and Nate's overwhelming charisma. Once again Hollywood proved that money is not synonymous with good product. This short fan is an entertainment marvel. Thank you guys for giving us this JEWEL in capital letters, Thanks 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Make it a million times better
It actually makes me super sad that this isn't an official 2 hour uncharted movie. Like really sad.
Why didn't sony make this a full movie?! I would have thoroughly enjoyed it!
Forgot i was on RUclips for a sec, Nathan fillion was born to play Nathan Drake
Just watched the movie 20 minutes ago and as a fan of uncharted since the first game, this is far better than the movie in every way. Nothing wrong with the actors as they did what they could with their roles but in 15 minutes this fan made film did better than a 2 hour fully budgeted production.
Abaolutely agree. Just saw it myself. Thought it was okay. But this is the true Nathan Drake we deserve
I disagree, thought i feel i’m I’m the minority but I definitely did prefer the official movie
Just wrote something similar...Maybe Tom could've played Drake young....But he should NOT have been casted for Drake..Do it right or don't do it at all
Also Mark Wahlberg just played himself. It was not a great Sully.
@@DennisDey agreed.
Sure Nathan Fillion is a little older and not ripped, but if he was given a few months to work out he’d be perfect. Dude looks and acts exactly like Drake
And ucharted Drake is plently old imo
i am sure it seems that i am commenting on 4 month old comment but, Nathan drake isn't a ripped guy, or masculine guy, nor so fat... (Even they made obese drake model for a purpose). He is just a regular guy who looks the same as Indiana jones... So basically tom holland has no relation to Nathan drake but, nathan fillion perfectly fit to character.
Would be a great Uncharted 5 hehehe
@@Asukazaka coming back to rewatch lol, but its reasonable to assume nathan drake would be fairly muscular, simply due to the physical aspect of what he does
@@Asukazaka Drake has athlete level strength and body control to be able to do what he does when climbing, man. As much as I admire Fillion and absolutely love his work, he'd need to work the hell out of his body to be Drake

Let me know when you've convinced Naughty Dog to give up their intellectual property.
Played all the uncharted games, this needs to be a full length feature film.
anything based on an existing IP cannot be crowd funded :( or there'd be alot of nasty sewage (it's a pun)
Denise Cervantes it’s got tom Holland in it. It’s gonna be terrible
@@Nutsaur Naughty Dog gave up it's intellectual property. Just to Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg instead...
This is the real Uncharted movie!
You can just tell the level of passion Fillion has for his rendition of Drake. It's almost like playing as his favorite video game character was his lifelong dream. The 3rd person shooting scene was also an incredible touch that the new movie is never gonna jump on. The casting for Sully and Elena was perfect also.
Lies again? Nathan Farts
Uh, the casting for Elena was not perfect
Castings tend to be a problem for big budget movies. What I've heard often happens is that you get to cast one character as you wish, and most of the rest are cast through an agency the actor is a part of because of contracts. This is an independent project, therefore this problem is unlikely
I like that they used cast members from The Rookie. That's quite awesome!
Casting of Elena was not perfect
Whoever wrote the dialog either read all the scripts for the games or played and respected it. I’m leaning toward the respect because the tone is pitch perfect.
dogamus "Hey there little guy. What do you wanna be when you grow up?" Is literally perfect. He says something similar in U4.
That was so good. It reminded me of the scene in Uncharted 3 where he's tied to the chair on the boat.
You have remember, Nathan F is a huuuuge uncharted fan.
I agree. The humour, tone, look, dialogue is spot on. Nathan really nails it as Nathan. Love it.
The benefit of a fan film, actual passion and care in the story and creation
I came back here after seeing the latest screenshots of Holland and Wahlberg. Needed to wash my eyes out with the real thing :-)
Ikr they didn't even try to make Wahlberg look like Sully. He doesn't even have a damn moustache and the clothes look too modern 🙁
Same! This would have been a much better casting
I was really hoping I didn't have to come across that disturbing photo
That's me

still and always, OUR uncharted movie
I’m almost upset I watched this. It’s like seeing what could have been and knowing we aren’t gonna get anything close to this. To the guys that made this video, you guys are amazing. Wish you could have crowd funded a whole movie. I would have bought it.
