How did this slip under the radar!? Thanks to Niko and crew for teasing and recommending this. Life XP was great, but this was something new and incredible
There are two ways to interpret this: 1: the little girl was Lara and when the hero died she modeled her life after the person who saved her and became the Lara she is today. 2: the hero was Lara and when she died the little girl took her name to honor her
I'd say option 2... you know, as a way to say our favorite heroes are kind of eternal and we can follow their path if we're strong enough. Many men (well, here, women) under the same mask/name. Like, "do you believe in yourself enough to take up the outfit?" that kind of things. I like the ritual aspect of all this. The movie was awesome.
the fight scene between her and the dudes righthand man was so legit, because you could actually see what they were doing without a ridiculous amount of cuts or shakey cam like in most action movies today
Why are people hating this? this was by probably the best fan movie I have seen to date and I have seen a lot. Great directing, great fight sequences, good acting, great plot even with a great twist. Its better then a lot of high budget series we see these day. Great job, you can be realy proud!
Great work and congratulations!! Incredible acting, absolutely amazing fight choreography, fantastic directing, awesome sound and camera work. One of the best fan films I've ever seen.
Deserves the "Fan Film" Oscar Award... Though it picked up in progress, it checked all the boxes...action, suspense, right down to the tear at the end...mine.
Holy crap this was a good film! Seriously, the fights were awesomely choreographed, fluid, and acting was top notch, especially Lara, I almost believed she was actually crying! I can see that a lot of love went into this film, and it deserves every single praise! For a fan film, this is perfect. I'd pay to watch this in an instant! Seriously good job all around, especially during the "boss" fight, that was awesome!
Dear god. This was amazing. The production value, the acting, THE STUNT WORK! Incredible. I absolutely loved it. I would have paid to see this and not felt cheated (as I have the last ten times I went to the theater). Well done.
This is incredible! I've never had goosebumps before from a short film. I was crying. Jesus ❤️ congrats to everyone involved, honestly better than some movies today
This fan made / short film is so good! It was excellently executed: I have ALWAYS loved the Lara Croft mythology and ever-growing franchise. My God, what is there not to love?! As the Lara-like character is slicing, dicing, arrow shooting and actuating some utterly brilliant gunplay - the tears began to flow more and more down my cheeks in a constant stream. I did this with the Wonder Woman film as well: the German invasion, i.e., the confrontation on the beach...and the battle sequence with no man's land. Please, keep up the good work! Well done to the cast and crew, seriously. And for the actress who played the Lara-like character iteration: Girl, you bloody nailed it!
I love how Lara is brutal but you can also see that in her eyes she really is no killer and despises killing. I mean look at her first kill in the 2018 tomb raider movie and also in tomb raider definitive edition the game. She does what it takes to survive and that makes her more loveable than if she was written to be a blood thirsty psycho killing anything that stands in her way.
Im gonna clear it up for the idiots, the little girl was Lara when she was a kid, she was kidnapped i think and the woman who saved Her just happened to look like the Lara we know from the tomb raider games
I completely agree. And if you think about it, it's kinda obvious, too. The little Lara we know here could easily have grown up and simply adopted the style of dress and appearance when she matured as an homage to the heroine she knew as a kid. Kinda like honoring through imitation sort of thing. I thought the end was genius and a nice canon divergence. Don't know why that's so hard to understand or why so much people are ragging on this.
+Aracely Gutierrez all of it was a big fake out to the people watching worthy of a M. Night Shyamalan twist. it was pretty good better than a lot of Hollywood's versions of Lara
Yea this was way better than anything Hollywood has done, well timed and I didn't feel like I had to cringe because the stuntmen were helping the main character looked like a believable fighter. No politics, just pure story and demonstration. Excellent musical score, decent acting and good use of environment.
Holy shit I totally did not see that ending coming. Awesome film. Great acting and soundtrack, camera work, writing, everything. Better than both official Tomb Raider movies. The assassin's comment about liking blondes should have tipped me off, but it didn't. Seriously, awesome job. This is killer.
Gary Cofield When that dude was dragging the "hero" by her hair, he said "You're lucky I like blondes." I immediately thought "Lara doesn't have blonde hair. How could they screw THAT up?" Well, the hero in this film does have streaks of blonde hair, but it's mostly brownish, because we are supposed to believe that she is Lara. Well (spoiler!) she is not Lara, and the bad guy's comment was a clue about that, because Lara is a brunette.
+Nitephall actually I think the line was about rape. He was saying that she was lucky that he likes blondes because then he wouldn't rape her because she is brunette. But that's my interpretation we don't really know.
+Laura Pollock Wow I didn't even think of that. That's probably what he meant. But it's neat that my original interpretation still works, only because the hero in the film had streaks of blonde in her hair.
The best lara Croft FILM I've ever seen in my life! Really! And whats with the ending? Is that woman in blue seriously lara? If it is, i think thats a surprisly end. Like ;)
bro, I can only say that this was the best fan movie of my life! I love Lara, I already played the tom raider and is very faithful to everything! the actress, the fight scenes! INCREDIBLE
My favorite parts of this video is the monologue near the beginning and majority of the music scores. They fit really well in this video. Not even going to bother describing what I didn't like about the video because the parts I did like overshadowed them.
This was so well done! Amazing. This is exactly how I hope the upcoming feature film will be with Lara alone kicking ass in extraordinary ways. The two previous films in my opinion were missing the element of Lara being a lone survivor. In the the two prequel/reboot games the fact that she's in these foreign places having to fight for her survival against nature, man, and beast all by herself and doing it so bravely is exactly what makes her admirable to me.
The bad guys are still horrible shots but this is the best characterization of a hero I've seen in a very very long time! Reminds me of Stalone in First Blood... VERY well done!!!!
What got me was the ending! The 1950's chopper design, makes sense in the games chronology. I got the hunch 'who was who' when "she' fell off the cliff. Amazing fan film and story line deserving of the Lara Croft franchise.
It had a slow start, but 1/3 through it got really nail-bitingly good. Awesome fight choreography and stuntwork. And the twist somehow made the game more believable, if Lara had a role model like this who inspired her. Kudos for the magnificent work!

Fantastically done! The acting of the hero, the girl and even the man whom was protecting the girl...but most especially the superb and dynamic acting of the hero (whom is either Lara or is the inspiration for the young Lara). The guy whom played the enemy was okay but kind of soft and not too convincing as a menacing guy. He looks like he is better at working in a company's tech department. The mercenaries did great physical acting, but they can't shoot for crap! The scenery and cinematography are gorgeous & the music helped keep the pace. The emotional aspect was very touching and affecting! Better than a lot of studio, feature length films! Great job!
Because short films are more free and they don't have to be structured and they can just be a bundle of excitement like a trailer. For example if you saw this as a movie if we take out the more amateurish and less budget factors you will still be furious about it because you just got some bad guys that you have no idea what they were after and who they are or why the main characters are in the location, what happened etc. You accept it at a short film because is more like a game cinematic where you just want to see something and feel excitement but you will never accept such a thing in a full film.
Cause fan made movies are made with love, the producers don't intend to make lots of money, so they don't ruin great characters to satisfy all of their viewers, they illustrate the characters they way they are meant to be.
Quite simply speaking? More heart and soul goes into it than a big budget film. It isn't about making money for these kinds of artists, it's about showing the world what their passion and skill, amplified by working together with like minded people, can birth.
What's with these excuses? This was well-shot, well-acted and well-cut. if this was a full-length film, there would be enough room to flesh out the story more. that 1 on 1 fight scene was amazing!
Ylevil they should of had some dialogue maybe explaining that they were just small time petty thieves with little gun training hired as muscle..it was great action but missing her at point blank range can only be explained by a lack of training or even exposure to gun fire.(in movie theory).
I am watching this for the umptieth time. This is another Arnold Schwarzenegger Commando movie. "Just Bodies" The reality of sacrifice for a friend is an age Long supreme price concept. Laura really had a Guardian Angel in the person of Croft. The lessons in this wonderful Movie are timeless indeed. I love the Action!

That friend of hers was friking useless! "You had ONE job! ONE! Stay hiding, brat!" Seriously though, this is amazing work. I am in awe. But what's that at the end? Kid's no Lara.
Constructive criticism here, don't down vote just because you don't agree, post a reply and we'll start a healthy discussion :) I thought the beginning was weak and the dialogue could have been so much better. I understand that it's hard to do in 20 minutes time, but i never got to "know" the characters as much as i would have want to. Although the action (and camera work) weighted it up as it was nothing short of brilliant!
totally agree with you. just posted some text up, but i'll repeat some stuff here: the soundtrack could be so much better too. put some emotion in it. shots, slaps, screams, and the background of elves' music.
Wow, seriously well done! 👏 Took me by surprise that the little girl was Laura. Kept me waiting to see what was around the next turn! Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors!
Wow! These guys really excell at their Croft! Sorry. Couldn't resist. This was Fan-tastic. Seriously, this the best fan film I have ever seen. Outstanding.
totally agree, in the first scene they never identified her as whether she was lara croft so it couldn't be her. so the girl saying that she is lara croft is possible. therefore you could believe that she really is lara croft and this is her back story, brilliant!!! just absolutely brilliant.
Another Angelina Jolie? haha, this Cassandra is so much more like Alicia Vikander (i wouldn't be surprised if Cassandra WAS Alicias stunt double). I know everyone prefers the old tomb raider games(films) but this comment is coming from someone who has played every single game and loves the reboot much better... Archery takes a lot more time to master than it does a gun... When they changed Laras signature weapon to a bow I was like omg yes! anyone can shoot a gun... it takes skill and practice to use a bow.
Et même elles sont particulièrement bien faits, franchement, a part une ou deux fois ou c'etait un peu "surjoué" le reste etais franchement de haut niveau pour moi.
Only just had this recommended to me. Very impressive labour of love to all things Tomb Raider. A believable lead who wouldn't look out of place in a professional movie. She was able to give the character a huge dose of desperation and vulnerability..not bad in only twenty minutes. Also amused at how the bad guys are so lousy at hitting an easy target..(a nice little dig in the ribs to most modern action movies made today I'd imagine) All in all, excellent production values across the board and even a nice little twist ending to boot. A solid 9/10
I think this is better than the 2 Tomb Raider movies with Angelina Joile, so may I suggest to make a whole 90 min + movie out of this concept. Base it on the two last games. Sugst a suggestion...because I like it!
Hey there! I totally respect your opinion. The movies with Angelina isn't bad, but it can always be better, right? But I don't know if the next Tomb Raider movie will be better. What do you think? From Norway with love.
the only problem i have with this is that THEY'RE NOT BRITISH!!!!! I mean come on Lara Croft has a British accent... But other wise AMAZING!!!!!!!! Fantastic editing, superb acting, and awesome special effects!!!
Really?!?! I loved everything up until the last line, she said her name was Laura, its fucking Lara. Besides that this was amazing. Great editing and film work. Mostly good acting except the blue jacket girl
Great production value and really great acting which is a rare thing for youtube videos! Fantastic score! Everything about this screamed professionalism, really well done!
Ok so that bad ass chick wasn't Lara Croft? also I was gonna so "you monster! how dare you kill Lora off" hahaha. But superb short film. I guess we now know who molded our bad ass most favorite female character
it was lara. and yes she died there, but thats allright, because she died as a hero. its about passing on the spirit of the survivor to the next generation. violence is a curse or a illnes like a virus, it spreads from one to another. if horrible things happen to u, you have 3 choices: stay a victim, become a villain too, or becoming the guardian. this short movie has a brilliant script, it presented her as what she is.: an ICON. like for example every superhero wearing a mask, like batman as he is an icon for (soft) justice (punisher is more my kind), the name lara croft stands for the survivor. if a hero behind a mask dies, someone else puts on the mask and keeps the legacy alive, the people will keep their hope and the bad guys will be kept living in fear. another example would be the guy fawkes mask in real life, the people behind it will eventual get caught, but others will put on the mask and keep the idea alive. By taking her Name at the end she honors (REAL) laras sacrifice and carries on her legacy. in Real Life Lara Croft is a virtual video game character, as Solid Snake is. they dont really exist, yet there are a lot of people whos life were influenced by those characters, because they are icons. and know with those Remakes coming, the next generation of kids are influenced by them, because of the nature of virtual reality were immortality is real, its only brilliant to let her die a heroes death , becoming the icon that she is and letting the next generation carry on her legacy and make her virtualy immortal. also think about the remake where at the end u read: a survivor is born. that means lara croft was nothing before, nothing more than a rich girl. her struggle for survival made her who she became later on. anyone can be that survivor. i believe thats the message behind the movie :)
Absolutely fantastic! Too bad about the ending though, I wasn't expecting it. But this truly captures what the game was all about. If hollywood is still planning on doing a reboot Tomb Raider film, you have the best example of how you should do it here.
Shhhh... No my name is Clearence. Haven't you heard that the angels want me dead! There probably here on RUclips, don't blow my cover! (Wings flapping) Lmao

This fan film was fantastic! The action and choreography throught. The actress play Lara was better thann the movies in this role. Very impressed! Great work by this team!

So, 20 minutes of fan made film just blew Hollywood out of the competition.
Well played.
There are two ways to interpret this:
1: the little girl was Lara and when the hero died she modeled her life after the person who saved her and became the Lara she is today.
2: the hero was Lara and when she died the little girl took her name to honor her
pretty much and people talkin here crap about how the little girl is lara.
I'd say option 2... you know, as a way to say our favorite heroes are kind of eternal and we can follow their path if we're strong enough. Many men (well, here, women) under the same mask/name. ***** It almost looked like an official movie trailer to me when I first saw it.
How can them be? Real Lara picks RP accent, while the girl in blue picks generic American accent.
***** You can say that was a filming error?
What a heroic acting by the lady, hats off to her. Very nice filming. God bless her.
the fight scene between her and the dudes righthand man was so legit, because you could actually see what they were doing without a ridiculous amount of cuts or shakey cam like in most action movies today

this short film was like DAMN. As a hard core tomb raider fan I salute everyone from cast to crew. Brava!
Hello dear
Holy hell, the fight choreography and the stunts are TOP NOTCH.. jesus, among the best I've seen on RUclips.
I'd even say they look better than a lot of blockbusters... It never looked like a punch was pulled and those jumps!

Constructive criticism here, don't down vote just because you don't agree, post a reply and we'll start a healthy discussion :)
I thought the beginning was weak and the dialogue could have been so much better. I understand that it's hard to do in 20 minutes time, but i never got to "know" the characters as much as i would have want to. Although the action (and camera work) weighted it up as it was nothing short of brilliant!
totally agree with you. just posted some text up, but i'll repeat some stuff here:
the soundtrack could be so much better too. put some emotion in it. shots, slaps, screams, and the background of elves' music.
“What’s your name?”
“Lara”
Awesome 👏
This is actually really well done. The action shots were amazing.
Hello dear
This was a wonderful film and is an outstanding example of what real bravery is!
Absolutely brilliant. Can we give these guys more money to make this a feature length?
this,,, this was better then the other tomb raider movies i seen so far

Wow, seriously well done! 👏 Took me by surprise that the little girl was Laura. Kept me waiting to see what was around the next turn! Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors!
Better than a million dollar production, incredible! I loved it!!! SHARED IT ALL OVER :P
I wish I could hit the Like button more than once! What are these fight scenes? Better than a lot of hollywood movies!
This movie has some truly breathtaking action. Wow!
Wow! These guys really excell at their Croft! Sorry. Couldn't resist. This was Fan-tastic. Seriously, this the best fan film I have ever seen. Outstanding.
THE LITTLE GIRL WAS LARA
PLOT TWIST! PLOT TWIST!
It'd be a pretty cool back story of how Lara first encounters things like that!
totally agree, in the first scene they never identified her as whether she was lara croft so it couldn't be her. so the girl saying that she is lara croft is possible. therefore you could believe that she really is lara croft and this is her back story, brilliant!!! just absolutely brilliant.
how is she not a Hollywood star? she got what it takes to be another Angelina Jolie.
Technically she is... She's a pretty well known stunt double in Hollywood.
But I still like Angelina Jolie..
Absolument magnifique
Only just had this recommended to me. Very impressive labour of love to all things Tomb Raider. A believable lead who wouldn't look out of place in a professional movie. She was able to give the character a huge dose of desperation and vulnerability..not bad in only twenty minutes. Also amused at how the bad guys are so lousy at hitting an easy target..(a nice little dig in the ribs to most modern action movies made today I'd imagine) All in all, excellent production values across the board and even a nice little twist ending to boot. A solid 9/10
Okay didn't expected a well choreographed Lara Fan Film.what Rollicking action short.
I think this is better than the 2 Tomb Raider movies with Angelina Joile, so may I suggest to make a whole 90 min + movie out of this concept. Base it on the two last games. Sugst a suggestion...because I like it!
Thats what id like to see too though i did like the story of legened trilogy they could of done something with that too in my opinion 😊
Svein Grimstad Bullshit. Nothing can compare to those two legends you call movies.
Hey there! I totally respect your opinion. The movies with Angelina isn't bad, but it can always be better, right? But I don't know if the next Tomb Raider movie will be better. What do you think? From Norway with love.
I'd love to see a Wolfenstein parody too. Is there any?
the only problem i have with this is that THEY'RE NOT BRITISH!!!!! I mean come on Lara Croft has a British accent... But other wise AMAZING!!!!!!!! Fantastic editing, superb acting, and awesome special effects!!!
I have no words . This is incredible ! Very good movie . Well done everyone .
THIS is a fan movie? This is amazing
Really?!?! I loved everything up until the last line, she said her name was Laura, its fucking Lara. Besides that this was amazing. Great editing and film work. Mostly good acting except the blue jacket girl
Vulture How do you even pronounce it anyways, I really don't know. In the 2013 game, the npc's said it both ways.
Vulture She did seem a little too overdramatic in the last scene
Swg Fart Its Lara lol, as in Lah-Ra rather than Lor-Ra. Anyone who's into TR should know that without a shadow of a doubt!
Vulture idn maybe the name of the other girl was laura or something or she gust changed it from something to laura to pay her tribute to lara
***** What about this?
multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2007/10/15/in-case-youve-been-getting-it-wrong-how-to-say-lara-croft/
amazing job. I caught myself forgetting this was fan made short film. This beats the pants off of many full length films I have seen. Well done.
Amazingly well done!
Totally Awesome! Love it!!
Say*
it was lara. and yes she died there, but thats allright, because she died as a hero. its about passing on the spirit of the survivor to the next generation. violence is a curse or a illnes like a virus, it spreads from one to another. if horrible things happen to u, you have 3 choices: stay a victim, become a villain too, or becoming the guardian. this short movie has a brilliant script, it presented her as what she is.: an ICON.
like for example every superhero wearing a mask, like batman as he is an icon for (soft) justice (punisher is more my kind), the name lara croft stands for the survivor. if a hero behind a mask dies, someone else puts on the mask and keeps the legacy alive, the people will keep their hope and the bad guys will be kept living in fear. another example would be the guy fawkes mask in real life, the people behind it will eventual get caught, but others will put on the mask and keep the idea alive.
Like Nothing// Wow! That is some great insight. I agree with you. and it is a really good fan film.
Croft has been crafted amazingly. Really I didn't close my eye till end of film . 👌✌️💪👍👌
Absolutely fantastic! Too bad about the ending though, I wasn't expecting it. But this truly captures what the game was all about. If hollywood is still planning on doing a reboot Tomb Raider film, you have the best example of how you should do it here.
cass, is that you?
Shhhh... No my name is Clearence. Haven't you heard that the angels want me dead! There probably here on RUclips, don't blow my cover! (Wings flapping) Lmao

Better than official movies.
You confused then and than (but then you edited). But yeah, you're right.
asher taz Yea I know :D sorry and thanks :)
Holy cow, it's like Hollywood spend a billion dollars on this. It's totally awesome. The girl playing Laura it's absolutely amazing
Lara* but yes you are totally right!
AMAZING!!! Well done Cassandra!
I've got to admit, the guy at 5:49 had really lousy aiming XD It's like he had her for sure and she doesn't have any hiding spot close by and he just... MISS her? really?
Rocks were blocking his way I think either way he sucks
nah, he had a clear shot... he just sucks XD
I see somebody went to stormtrooper academy.
Amazing effects and performances👏👏👏
This fan film was fantastic! The action and choreography throught. The actress play Lara was better thann the movies in this role. Very impressed! Great work by this team!
That was very well made.
