My primary care doctor prescribed Metoprolol without discussing it with me. But I took it anyway because I thought he was watching out for my best interest. The side effects were almost unbearable. Dizziness, confusion, numbness and tingling in my right hand, vision problems, hoarseness in my throat and horrible acid reflux. I finally weaned myself off of it and have just now gotten over the numbness in my hand. I talked to my new cardiologist, and he said most people feel horrible taking Metoprolol and he seldom prescribes it. All I can say is be aware of the side effects. I'm sure many people do well taking it. The only time I felt worse was COVID.
I got off of it after realizing the connection between the drug and my sleep disturbances and nightmares. Soon as I got off of it I was able to finally get a full night sleep and just dream normally. Drugs are so sketchy sometimes. One can suffer from side effects for a while before figuring out it's the drug causing it.
I’m on it for 40 days now. Only 1/4 a day which is 12.5mg in the morning . I get dizzie all the time & very tired . I hate it but it’s for my anxiety. I also feel my heart is tight . Or pressure. And pain on my back & to my neck . But my doc says the pain is arthritis.
Can you not take the high dose a lower dose ? My heart beat is too fast 99 I feel it but it's buzzing fast 99. Terrible feeling. Migraines got me down not sleep just up and down again for going on 4 days. This change in the weather hot then rain causes this the big one makes migraine stay longer. God how I wish for a remedy . Favor pass the word. Thanks
I had those same symptoms my doctor had me stop taking them after slowly cutting back on the dose. I'm not getting dizziness and my heart rate is better and I feel better
Been takinkg it for 10 years since my heart attack. Not exactly sure why my cardiologist prescribed it, but since I have bradycardia, I cut a 25mg (which you missed) pill in half and take 1x day.
I have been taking Metoprolol succinate ER for the last 5 months and my fingers often feel cold which is very annoying to me. After 5 months that side effect should have been gone by now. Is this something that should be brought to my physician's attention? BTW, this medicine has done wonders for my BP, thankfully!
Ive got an incomplete right bundle branch block and was recently prescribed Metoprolol ER 25 mg for tachycardia. Ive read mixed views on taking metoprolol with an IRBB - what is your opinion on this ?
I took it after bypass surgery it lowered my blood pressure and slowed my heart rate to the low forty's. It made me very dizzy and caused me to pass out after my doctor took me off them I'm doing OK
I have this for my heart rate as mine beats up to 165bpm on resting. I also have a Chanel blocker and now my blood pressure is high so I have just started on ramipril for that.
Do you have other heart problems that need attention and test? Or how about thyroid test blood test? You may have something wrong somewhere in your body that needs attention and not just a pill.
I just taken this drug (with other 2 drug for high blood) for more than a week and doc said if my heart rate lower than 80 i stop taking this medicine and after 5 days taking it my heart rate become 71 so stop it then after 2 days without taking it i took my bp again my heart rate become 113 to 115 again and my bp a little high again so im taken this medicine again.and Waiting for my next appointment to doc this week
does the chart include metoprolol succinate? also, at night i am taking for hbp, verapamil ER for migraine. realized if i take at same time i have vicious migraine next day
Hi doc! My patient is taking metropolol tartrate 25mg.. at first we were crushing it in a tablet crusher and mix with ensure since my patient doesnt eat apple sauce, yogurt, pudding. Lately she used to spit the ensure with crush metropolol mix in it So what i did,i dissolve the tablet in a teaspoon of water and soak the tablet for 30mins till it dissolve and mix with ensure and let it drink with the patient So the question is which is better crushing the tablet or dissolving it?
I just got it prescribed because my resting heart rste is too high (anxiety, PTSD, autism). I hope this hrlps because I am so tired of living like this. I'm also on anto anxiety medication.
Hello. After taking this for hyperthyroidism and grave disease, my feet started hurting, burning, and numbness in my feet. Can you no anything about this with my feet will this go away
SVT is nearly no longer a problem with me now. Life changing. I was prescribed 2 x 25mg/day. I felt drugged. Half a 25 per day worked for me for a couple years. Now I take 25mg once a day with success and no side effects.
I've been on this drug for 12 years. The fatigue is there. But, so is a reduced walking pace. I used to walk fast (normal pace). Now my wife, who is 8 in. shorter, leaves me in the dust.
My doc wanted me to take another tablet but I tried side effects worse so .I said no n my heart specialist said I could halve the tablet n it worked perfectly no swolen ankles but I still fall asleep in the chair 75
@@barbararoutledge9638I tried the half tablet. Heart rate came up into the 70-80s. But, the slightest thing was agitating. I was angry often and from a 3rd person perspective out of character. So, I went back to full tablet. Back to slow pace of walking too.

This was me, while pregnant and after covid. I ended up having high blood pressure after I delivered my baby and went on a 48 hour magnesium drip. It’s been two years and I still deal with high heart rate, presyncope, chest pain.
I’ve been taking half of 25mg and I break a bit of that too bc my hr was still to low. But now I read you can’t break it only on the line. Is it lowering my heart rate more bc k break it outside the line ? I really need to know bc it gets lower and lower
@@Piddydafoo2 you should ask your pharmacist but I was told they are both beta blockers and you start off the next day with Metoprolol just as you did the Atenolol in the dose the doctor prescribed.
