My primary care doctor prescribed Metoprolol without discussing it with me. But I took it anyway because I thought he was watching out for my best interest. The side effects were almost unbearable. Dizziness, confusion, numbness and tingling in my right hand, vision problems, hoarseness in my throat and horrible acid reflux. I finally weaned myself off of it and have just now gotten over the numbness in my hand. I talked to my new cardiologist, and he said most people feel horrible taking Metoprolol and he seldom prescribes it. All I can say is be aware of the side effects. I'm sure many people do well taking it. The only time I felt worse was COVID.

I got off of it after realizing the connection between the drug and my sleep disturbances and nightmares. Soon as I got off of it I was able to finally get a full night sleep and just dream normally. Drugs are so sketchy sometimes. One can suffer from side effects for a while before figuring out it's the drug causing it.

I’m on it for 40 days now. Only 1/4 a day which is 12.5mg in the morning . I get dizzie all the time & very tired . I hate it but it’s for my anxiety. I also feel my heart is tight . Or pressure. And pain on my back & to my neck . But my doc says the pain is arthritis.

Can you not take the high dose a lower dose ? My heart beat is too fast 99 I feel it but it's buzzing fast 99. Terrible feeling. Migraines got me down not sleep just up and down again for going on 4 days. This change in the weather hot then rain causes this the big one makes migraine stay longer. God how I wish for a remedy . Favor pass the word. Thanks

I have been taking Metoprolol succinate ER for the last 5 months and my fingers often feel cold which is very annoying to me. After 5 months that side effect should have been gone by now. Is this something that should be brought to my physician's attention? BTW, this medicine has done wonders for my BP, thankfully!

Hi doc! My patient is taking metropolol tartrate 25mg.. at first we were crushing it in a tablet crusher and mix with ensure since my patient doesnt eat apple sauce, yogurt, pudding. Lately she used to spit the ensure with crush metropolol mix in it
So what i did,i dissolve the tablet in a teaspoon of water and soak the tablet for 30mins till it dissolve and mix with ensure and let it drink with the patient
So the question is which is better crushing the tablet or dissolving it?

@@Piddydafoo2 you should ask your pharmacist but I was told they are both beta blockers and you start off the next day with Metoprolol just as you did the Atenolol in the dose the doctor prescribed. I was given that choice to but decided to stay with Atenolol because I had taken 25 mg for 26 years. The only change was I now take 25 mg in the morning and 12.5 mg at night. The problem is the doctor, cardiologist, too busy to pay attention. Does not pay attention to what you are taking ,other. Does not listen. Doctors using er to treat patients. They are just handing out prescriptions. Have a problem? Go to er. Er’ stabilizing patients.
