Lucky you! I’ve been IF and low carb for 1 year ( I do treat myself from time to time e.g. cake with my coffee once a week if I’m out, or a piece of damper with my homemade soup if I’ve made soup - maybe every 3-4 weeks, but it’s not the majority at all) and my blood pressure, numbers like yours over this past 15 months, and nothing changed. I don’t have much weight to lose (on cusp of normal/overweight), my trigs and HDL Are normal and in perfect ratio, my LDL is high. So my Dr desperately wants me on statins, I’m refusing, and after 15 months of trying and resisting I’ve started on Irbesartan lowest dose for my blood pressure 4 weeks ago. Had ECG, clean as a whistle, tested positive for SDHB gene fault which symptoms can be tumour growth messing with the endocrine system causing high blood pressure amongst more serious nasties, but an ultrasound showed clear and I expect my MRI will too ( it’s been over two weeks and no one has called me in a flurry of panic). I’ve taken my blood pressure twice so far, once it hadn’t changed at all and the second time it had dropped half way to your new numbers. This was upon waking too, so I was super relaxed. My Dr did explain all the areas of medication and why she prescribed what she did. I’m watching and waiting ….oh and I’ve taken a Dr prescribed best bio available pott and mag powder supplement and D3/K2 for the past 18 months.

I'm on carvedilol and losartan. Went from 270lb to 195 doing Keto for a year. BP at the four months ago was 180/127 with a pulse in the high 80's. Cardiovascular Primary Care Doctor didn't like that I was doing Keto, but liked that I was losing weight. Had my follow up today and I lost 21lbs from the last visit. I think she gets in a rut with most patients not doing anything to help the situation they are in. She was ecstatic and smiled the entire time talking to me about my progress. It was a 100% change in her attitude from when I first started working with her. I've only been on the meds 4 months. The conversation was keep doing what I'm doing and we can talk about getting off/reducing the HBP meds. I keep a journal and my BP has been under 120/80 with a pulse around 60 for 2 months now.

I take amlodipine and adjust my dose when my ankles start swelling, and a minimum dose of amiloride to keep my potassium up, but have to start every day with a Thermotab to keep my sodium near or at low normal. Ken, I just wanted to say thank you for this vid. I've known I had high BP for a couple decades. Started out a little high and continued to climb to where I'm at today. Went to the ER for a pain I had and they went through the whole thing. Two blood draws, 6 hrs on the EKG, 2 chest xrays. Turns out all the blood work came out good, xrays fine, EKG fine but blood pressure was way high. An injection brought it down part way but the Dr. wanted it lower so he gave me a small pill. After monitoring me he sent me home.
I had an appointment today with my new Primary Care Dr. (didn't have a Dr. for the last 10 years). He did his work and prescribed me LOSARTAN. Prior to leaving the house I watched this vid and wrote down all of the medications and your ranking. The instant the Dr. said what he was going to prescribe I pulled out my list and saw that it was favorable for someone in my situation. That brought comfort to me so, thank you for that.

@@jedventuranza5263 ~ There's a medical study that shows that Lacidipine (another calcium channel blocker) is safer and more effective than Amlodipine. It concluded,
"patients were treated for a total of 8 weeks. At this time, supine mean diastolic blood pressure decrease was 16 mm Hg in the lacidipine group and 10 mm Hg in the amlodipine group (p < = 0.01). Adverse events were reported in 28% of patients treated with lacidipine and in 48% of patients receiving amlodipine. Results of our pilot clinical experience show that lacidipine is a well-tolerated and effective compound, compared with amlodipine, in mild-to-moderate hypertensive patients."

Very useful and well explained on one of the most used meds for hypertension. BTW thanks for providing us with so many great recommendations on many common health issues that are well-researched and are best in class. I was put on a beta blocker back when the ACE & ARB's were not yet commercial but I was in my 40's and when I was around mid-50, my primary doctor suggested using the ARB as a better option and I have been on those for over 20 years without any side effects. I was able to even lower the dose from 250 to 150 mg/d with a consistent diet and exercise after retirement.

I am currently on Lisinopril and Carvedilol. I had lumbar surgery and prior to the surgery I was instructed to stop Lisinopril because of dangerous reactions to the anesthetic. I have been on a low carb diet for a few years now, because of that diet my blood pressure has been more manageable. I am going to take your recommendation from one if your videos on how to determine my actual blood pressure using the seven day method, checking my pressure twice a day after relaxing for a 15 minute period. I recently left my provider of 31 years due to disagreements in the way they were treating me. Suddenly my BP slowly started climbing. 😳 Like I had a bad batch. Sent to a cardiologist and he said my heart looked amazing so they said the only conclusion is it started with the new brand... Just switched to Olmesartan HCTZ (in the original brand I was on)... Only 5 days in but I can feel it working... 😄 My doctor said I should be fine and back to where I was in two to four weeks.

Have started taking two new meds after dropping the old ones. But these are not helping too much. Perhaps I should give them some more time. But I think the main culprit is that recently I have been sleeping all day and during night I have been either on my PC or on my phone watching social media. I know I have to lose weight by more exercise, more physical activities and/or intermittent fasting. All these things are easier said than done. But I have promised to myself that I will do more exercise, more physical activities. I hope my experience will benefit some of you.

I was put on Linsopril after my Triple Bypass in 2016 and it caused me to cough uncontrollably all waking hours. Especially tough while waiting for my sternum to heal. I was put on a beta blocker which helped but my VO2 Max has been incredibly low. Was just prescribed an ARB today so I am happy to hear you listed them as the safest. I am not just watching this for this info. You have been a great guide for years for Keto and LCHF.

Lower insulin levels, increase electrolytes, get plenty of sun exposure. BP meds are only band aids as they do not fix the root cause. Human body always wants to heal itself so we have to give it what it needs to function properly

Besides being annoying it got a lot uncomfortable looks from during Covid from friends and strangers. Several of my friends had the same problem and switched to Losartan. For all of us, the cough went away when we changed

I've just stopped taking one of my blood pressure meds. Amlodopine. My blood pressure has now dropped by 10 points to 137/74. Logically this shouldn't happen. I am now monitoring my BP daily. However there have been other improvements too. My pulse has dropped by 4 bpm, chronic joint pain has vanished(it never occurred to me but it started 10 years ago when the put me on BP meds), my ankles have ceased swelling and my chronic bloated gut feeling has vanished.
I haven't yet made other changes but have vowed to improve my diet and exercise more.

I am on maybe the 6th med for HBP. My body has been rejecting everything. My kidney function is normal, although trace blood and protein. Dr. not worried. Arteries are clear, blood flow normal, echocardiogram normal. BP has been resistant. I am a plant-based eater and 22 bmi. My bp has been as high as 220/108 with no symptoms. Lipid panel is now optimal dropping from TC of 285 to 167. In addition to taking Chinese herbs I have been taking atorvastatin for 6 months. I've also incorporated meditation and breathing daily. I'm not sure what more I can do.I am really not into pharmaceuticals but with my numbers being so high I didn't want to take chances. My goal is to get BP under control so I can stop the meds. I've done it before. Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences. It's helpful to me. I am now taking black seed oil, beet root, and nitric oxide along with a clove of garlic twice a day. I pray something works soon because my anxiety centers around this issue only. It feels like I'm playing Russian roulette and I don't like that feeling at all. Any advice is appreciated.

Recently started on blood pressure medication. First given Metoprolol, but my heart rate went down to low 40's and stayed there. Then switched me to Lisinipril. Gave me a horrible cough all day and night, didn't respond to any cough medication, didn't lessen the longer I was on it. Then switched me to Losartan. It works well. I take a dose in the morning and then in the evening.

After putting me on all the usual meds for high BP. a cardiologist put me on Aldactone. The adrenal gland on the top of my kidney was not working properly. We had to find the right dosage. So I am on 25 mg per day. BP is fine now. I am so glad that my GP sent me for cardio tests. My BP was always between 160/95 or 200/118. Needless to say I am still around. BP is now 125/ 75.

After a year on beta blockers my lipid panel and triglycerides went from normal to high. Due to the stress of the pandemic, lockdown, caring for my bedridden mother, and contracting Covid; my BP began to inch upwards more, so my dosage was upped from 2.5 mg to 10 mg. After another year on this dosage with no results, I was weaned off Nebrovol and placed on the initial, lowest dose of an ARB. It seemed to be helping, but after a month I developed whelps all over, petechia on my lower legs, and pruitus on my extremities. Ugh! I’ve been miserable. Needless to say, I can’t take ARBs. The highest my BP has read now, off of BP meds, is 140/96. I came upon a video presentation by cardiologist James Roberts discussing the links between vitamin C and lipoproteins ( as I have elevated LDL and statins literally almost killed me). Upon his recommendation that people with abnormal lipid panels should supplement with 6000-10000 of vit c daily, I upped my normal 1000 mg/ day to 6,000 mg. I check my BP daily. After a few days of the upped vit c, I noticed my BP had dropped into the normal range and has stayed there. I know from Dr.Robert’s presentation that C is important for endothelial health. Just trying to make the correlation as to why my BP has dropped with the added supplementation. Anyhow, I think 6000mg of vitamin C will be my daily from here on out.
